Advantages
Disadvantages Even though the error detection is simpler, the error correction is slightly more complicated. This is due to complexity of the combinational logic circuit used for error correction.

With reference to the prepared report we have analysed that, cyclic codes are an important subclass of linear block codes for error detection, where a new code word in the code can be formed by shifting the elements along one place and taking one of the end and putting it on to the beginning. Importantly cyclic codes have a structure that makes it possible for encoding and decoding to be performed by simple feedback circuitry.
