Teaching Learning Strategies Time 10 mins Introduction: Have a short dialogue with the class by introducing yourself and asking students to tell you their names like this: Teacher: Hello! Teacher: Hello! My name’s (Mrs. Ahmed). What’s your name? Student 1: I’m 1: I’m (Amna). Teacher: Hello, Teacher: Hello, Amna. [Shake hands with her and smile.] How are you? Student 1: I’m 1: I’m fine. Thanks. Teacher:[Turning to another student] And what’s your name? Student 2: My 2: My name’s (Hamid). Teacher: Hi, Teacher: Hi, (Hamid). Nice to meet you. Student 2: Nice 2: Nice to meet you too. Mrs. Ahmed! 20 mins Development: Ex. A. Talk to your friend Split the class into pairs and instruct them to introduce themselves and ask each other’s name. Then ask pairs to stand and introduce themselves and their partners to the rest of the class like this: Student 1: Hi! I’m (Umer). This is my friend (Naeem). Ex. B. Listen and colour the picture. Show some classroom objects to the students and ask: What is it? What colour is it? Thereafter, read the instructions aloud on page 90 of the Student’s book and ask them to listen to you carefully and colour the pictures as you tell them. Motivate the students to talk about the pictures as they work.

Wind up the activityby showing some classroom objects to the students and ask a few volunteers to identify them and tell their colours. Ex. C. Sing this song: Teddy says. Play the song, miming the actions as it goes. (If the cassette or CD is not available, sing the song yourself or say it as a rhyme, miming the actions.) Ask students to repeat each line after you, miming the actions with you. The complete song is given below: Song: Teddy says: Words: Actions Teddy says, Stand up. Handwriting Hunt: Model writing: · Draw four lines on writing board to tell the students where to to start and end a letter in the lines. Wrap up/Summary: · Ask the students to practice Uppercase alphabets in their books.
