eid preparation Try to get all, if not most of the Eid shopping done before the start of Ramadan. This way you will be able to focus on getting the maximum ibaadat done in the last few days of Ramadan, instead of scrambling to buy gifts and clothes for your loved ones at the last minute. Block out one hour and complete the table - who do you have to buy gifts for, what do you plan on getting them, when and where do you hope to shop for it.
ramadan vision What is your ideal vision for the blessed month? What do you see yourself doing that will result in a productive Ramadan? What are all those good deeds that you want yourself to engage in? How would you feel after doing them? Answer all these questions in the space provided. This little activity should help you gain clarity and leave you with several ideas and goals that will help you acheive a productive and fulfilling Ramadan InshaaAllah.

virtues of ramadan
1
fasting in Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam
It is narrated on the authority of 'Abdullah son of 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: (The superstructure of) al-Islam is raised on five (pillars), testifying (the fact) that there is no god but Allah, that Muhammad is His slave and messenger, and the establishment of prayer, payment of Zakat, Pilgrimage to the House (Ka'ba) and the fast of Ramadan. [Sahih Muslim]
2 fasting is a means of attaining taqwa (piety) "O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous" [Surah Baqarah:183]
3
there is a huge reward in fasting
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said, "(Allah said), 'Every good deed of Adam's son is for him except fasting; it is for Me. and I shall reward (the fasting person) for it.' Verily, the smell of the mouth of a fasting person is better to Allah than the smell of musk." [Sahih al-Bukhari]
4
fasting is a means of having our sins forgiven
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger (salallahu alaihi wa sallam) said, "Whoever observes fasts during the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping to attain Allah's rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven." [Sahih al-Bukhari]
5
the gates of Jannah are opened and the gates of Hellfire are closed
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said, "When Ramadan comes, the gates of Jannah are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained." [Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim].
6
one of the times when dua is accepted is when breaking the fast
Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “There are three whose supplication is not rejected: The fasting person when he breaks his fast, the just leader, and the supplication of the oppressed person; Allah raises it up above the clouds and opens the gates of heaven to it. And the Lord says: ‘By My might, I shall surely aid you, even if it should be after a while.’” [at-Tirmidhi]

virtues of ramadan 7 performing Umrah in Ramadan is equivalent to Hajj Ibn 'Abbas told us: The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said to a woman from among the Ansar: "When it is Ramadan, perform Umrah then, for Umrah during it is equivalent to Hajj." [An-Nasa'i]
8 Allah revealed the Quran inRamadan “The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’aan, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion…" [Surah al-Baqarah:185]
9 the night of Laylatul Qadr is better than a thousand months “Indeed, We sent the Qur'an down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.” [Surah alQadar:1-5]
10 it is highly recommended to eat the suhoor meal Anas ibn Maalik said: The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Eat suhoor for in suhoor there is blessing.” [Ibn Majah]
11 there is a huge reward in providing an iftar meal to someone Zayd ibn Khaalid al-Juhani who said: The Messenger of Allaah (salallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Whoever gives iftaar to one who is fasting will have a reward like his, without that detracting from the fasting person’s reward in the slightest.” [At-Tirmidhi]

These are: Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi, `adada khalqihi, wa rida nafsihi, wa zinatah `arshihi, wa midada kalimatihi [Allah is free from imperfection and I begin with His praise, as many times as the number of His creatures, in accordance with His Good Pleasure, equal to the weight of His Throne and equal to the ink that may be used in recording the words (for His Praise)]."[Muslim].
