BE (NA & OE) PROG PROGRAMME RAMME 1. PREAMBL PREAMBLE E

1.1 The regulations specified herein apply to full time BE( NA & OE) programm programme offered by AME AME T University University Kanathur – 603112, 603112, Chennai, hennai, Ind India. ia. 1.2 A participant of the programme is a student who registered himself / herself with AMET University for the BE(NA & OE) course and attends the same. 2. TIME SCAL SCAL E FOR ACADEMIC ACA DEMIC ACTIVITY ACTIVITY

2.1 The basic basic unit for academic academic activity activity for the NA & OE programm programme is a semester which would normally be of 20 weeks duration. 2.2 The basic contact period is one in which a teacher engages the students for a minimum duration of 60 minutes. 2.3 Academic activities activities viz. date of registration; registration; comm commencement of classes class es and continuous continuous assessmen assessmentt test schedule is announced by the Management of AMET University. 3. SCHEME OF INSTRUCTION

3.1 The scheme of instruction shall be of the following forms of academic activity. a) Theory courses b) Software Lab courses c) Pract P ractical ical Lab courses d) Project courses 3.2 A theory theory course course with with 60 contact periods in a semester semester enable a student to earn 4 units units of academic credit provided that he / she attends 75 % of the contact periods and obtains grade requirements specified hereinafter. 3.3 A project course course should be be undertaken undertaken under the guidance of a faculty member of the Department of NA & OE.

4. EXAMINATION A ND ASSESSMENT ASSESSMENT

4.1 Each Each theory theory course (of 4 credits) credits) ia evaluated for for maxim maximum um of 100 marks through continuous assessment (weightage: 30%), assignment (weightage: 5 %), class participation / discipline (weightage: 5 %) and end-semester examination (weightage: 60 %). 4.2 There are 3 written written continuous asses assessment sment test during the semester carrying 10 marks each. 4.3 A student should have attended 75 % of the contact periods to be eligible to appear for the end semester examination. 5. AWARDIN AWA RDING G GRADES

6. RECORD OF ACADEMIC PROGRESS

6.1 The academic progress of the students is maintained in a grade card, wherein the grades awarded, grade point secured and the Grade Point Average (G.P.A.) earned by the student shall be entered. 6.2 On completion of the academic requirements, the successful students are awarded Cumulative Grade Point Average (C.G.P.A.), Class secured and aggregate % of marks obtained as under. C.G.P .A = Total points earned in the required number of units/Total Units required to complete the programme First Class wi th Disti ncti on = CGPA of 8.00 and above First Class = CGPA of 6.50 to 7.99 Second Class = CGPA less than 6.50 Aggregate % of marks = [CGPA – 0.50] x 10 8. REQUIREMENTS FOR THE AWARD OF NA & OE DEGREE

8.1 A participant has to earn a minimum of 168 academic credits and should have obtained a grading of “B” or above throughout the programme to be eligible to receive the BE degree. 9. DURATION FOR COMPLETION OF NA & OE PROGRAMME

9.1 The BE – NA & OE programme consisting of 8 semesters expected to be completed within 4 years from the date of registration of the First semester.
