I% Introdution 'Nothing we do to, or for our ou r students is more important than our assessment of their work and


the feedback we give them on it ! "ssess#ent can serve an i#portant role in enhancing student #otivation and achieve#ent!

" test or e$a#ination is an assess#ent intended to #easure a students% &no'ledge( s&ill( aptitude( physical fitness or classification in #any other topics! It #ay be ad#inistered orally( on paper( or in a confined area that re)uires students to physically perfor# a set of s&ills! *ests vary in style( and re)uire#ents! In the Philippines( periodical tests are ad#inistered in all levels of public and private schools!

*o ensure that learning really ta&es place our school conducted a t'o+day Periodical test last "ugust ,-+,.(-/,0! 1ur principal( Dr! 2ilybeth D! Dasco pro#otes )uality education( she believes that teaching effectively and efficiently is not the only #eans for better learning but also on ho' to assess our students! "s 'e all &no' that through assess#ent 'e%re not 3ust assessing the &no'ledge learned by the students but also on ho' effective a teacher 'as! *hat%s 'hy all teachers devoted all their ti#e and effort in constructing test ite#s for each sub3ect to #a&e sure that every test ite# assess 4igher order *hin&ing S&ills 5 41*S 6!

II% Ativitie" Conduted durin! t'e E(a)ination During the first day of the e$a#ination( "ugust ,-( -/,0( the #orning session starts at e$actly 7:// a# and all grade three teachers established rapport to the students that%s 'hy the fear in the test #ini#i8ed! *he teacher e$plained that the first four+sub3ects ta&en are Mathe#atics( 9!S!P( Science and "raling Panlipunan! *here is a total of 7/ #inutes allotted for each sub3ect to ans'er and a short brea& is scheduled after the first t'o test! "fter e$plaining the flo' of the test the teacher orients the students about the rules to be follo'ed during the test! It includes the ff: •

"ll bags #ust be in front of the roo# and all noteboo&s should be left inside the bag!

*hey #ust have lead pencil( eraser( sharpener and a sheet of blan& paper for co#putation purposes! *hey are not allo'ed to co##unicate in any 'ay 'ith any person other than their teacher during the e$a#ination! *hey are not allo'ed to start the test proper unless the teacher told the# to do so! Students are re#inded to shade circle for correct options on ans'er -sheet! Students are also re#inded to avoid using li)uidtape eraser in erasing shaded circles!

"fter having the orientation( students put their bag at the front of the roo#!


*eachers guide the students in ans'ering each test ite# being ad#inistered! *he teacher ad#inistered the sub3ect they%ve handled for further )uestion of the students!

*he #orning session ends at e$actly ,/: ;; a#( the re#aining ./ #inutes are allotted for the advisers ti#e or the ho#eroo# ti#e for the students to arrange their things( to clean the roo# and for so#e re#inders given by their advisers! 2i&e'ise( sa#e activities happened during the afternoon session( the e$a#ination started at e$actly ,-:// p# and ends at e$actly ;:./ p#!

1n the second day of the e$a#ination( "ugust ,.( -/,0 the re#aining four+ sub3ects ta&en are 9nglish( M"P94(

III% Con#u"ion *he first and second day of the e$a#ination 'as found to be successful through the cooperation of all grade three teachers! "ll of us cooperate in planning on 'hat 'e should do to conduct our periodical test #ore effectively! *he students really feel that the periodical test is very i#portant! We hope that on the ne$t grading all of the students 'ill be #ore focus on the lessons being discuss by their teachers so that for the ne$t test they 'ill get a high grade! "nd no' they already &ne' that the test is not li&e the usual daily assess#ent that they%ve ans'ered! *hey 'ill no' beco#e #ore serious in ans'ering every )uestion! *he only proble# that 'e%ve noticed on this e$a#ination is the bigger nu#ber of absent students especially on the 1pportunity Class( but still for those 'ho are absent their teachers 'ill give special e$a#ination! *his assess#ent re#ind us also that as teachers 'e should be serious in teaching 'e should do our part in i#parting &no'ledge to our students!
