Preliminaries
Refuge and Generation of Bodhicitta Recite three times with hands at heart: SANG GYEH CHO TANG TSO KI CHO NAM LA CHANG CHUB BAR DU DA NI GYEB SU CHI DA KI CHIN SOK GYI BA DI TA KI DRO LA PEN CHIR SANG GYEH DRU BAR SHO In the Supreme Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, Until enlightenment, I take refuge. Through perfected wisdom may I attain Buddhahood For the sake of all sentient beings.
Four Immeasurables Recite three times with hands at heart: SEM CHEN TAM CHEH DEWA TANG DEWEH GYU TANG DEN BAR GYUR CHICK SEM CHEN TAM CHEH DUNGEH TANG DUNGEH KI GYU TANG DRALWAR GYUR CHICK SEM CHEN TAM CHEH DUNG EH MEBEH DEWA TANG MI DRAWLWAR GYUR CHICK SEM CHEN TAM CHEH NYEH RING CHA DANG TANG DRALWEH DANG NYOM LA NEHBAR GYUR CHICK May all beings have happiness and the cause of happiness; May all beings be free of suffering and the cause of suffering; May all beings not be separated from happiness that is without suffering; May all beings be free of attachment and aversion, to near and far, by resting in equanimity.
Main Practice Sit down on a cushion in a meditative posture.
Visualization I Above of your head visuualize a lotus on which is a sun disc. On top of that sits your root guru who is of one taste with Milarepa. Milarepa has a beautiful body which is in the nature of light. He is wearing the white garments of gods and als o dharma robes . With a smiling face he is teaching the profound Mahamudra. He is compassionate to all sentient beings, especially to you, and is watching you with
the kind eyes of the three times.
Meditate like that as you visualize all Kagyu lineage holders, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions, viras and viros, dakas and dakinis, protectors and wealth deities, the body, speech and minf of all the Buddhas, all their knowledage and activities embodied in Milarepa. Visualize that clearly.
Prayer Repeat the following prayer three times: Venerable Milarepa, Vajra Laug hter, Please bestow the blessings To my body, speech and mind! Also bestow the teaching Of the great Mahamudra And supreme Enlightenment!
Repeat as much as you can (21x, 108x, etc.): JE MILAREPA KHENO
Visualization II At the end, the great Venerable Milarepa dissolves himself into the form of light which is absorbed through your crown. Meditate in equipoise until your body becomes bliss without stain and your mind is dharmakaya without conception.
Relax completely.
