DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS (GRADE-IV) I.OBJECTIVES COGNITIVE: Identify what is dissimilar fraction; PSYCHOMOTOR: Describe the importance of dissimilar fraction; and AFFECTIVE: Visualize dissimilar f raction.
Cooperative II.LEARNING CONTENT SKILL: Visualizing dissimilar fraction REFERENCE: Teacher’s Manual, pp. 228-233 228-233 MATERIALS: activity sheets, flash cards and charts III.PROCEDURE A.PREPARATION TEACHER’S ACTIVITY
PUPIL’S ACTIVITY
1.ROUTINARY ACTIVITIES:
Good morning children ?
Good morning teacher Neralyn !
A. Opening prayer
Children, kindly stand up let us pray first, Vivian lead the prayer. Ok, children you may now take your seats.
(Vivian will lead the prayer) In the name of the Father… Amen. Thank you ma’am.
B .Checking of attendance of attendance
Ok, class I will check first your attendance. Ms. Secretary who are the absent for today ? Ok, very good ! 2.PREPARATORY ACTIVITIES: A.Drill
Name the fraction represented by the shaded part. 1.
None ma’am !
Ana what fraction is this ?
½ teacher !
Very good ! How about this ?
(pupil’s raises their hands)
2.
1/3 ma’am ! Yes Kim ? Yes very good ! How about this ?
(pupil’s raises their hands)
Joshua ? Very good !
2/4 ma’am !
3.
This ? 4.
Yes Joel ?
3/8 ma’am !
Yes very good ! Thank you for all your answers.

3.REVIEW/RECALL:
Ok class, before we proceed for our new lesson, let us recall first of what was our lesson yesterday? So anyone ?
(pupil’s raises their hands)
Yes, Carmina ?
Our lesson yesterday was all about “Adding 3-digit Numbers”.
Very good ! So, for example: 100 + 150 is equal to..?
(pupil’s raises their hands)
Leo ?
100+150= 250 teacher !
Very good !

4.MOTIVATION:
And now class, I will divide you into 2 groups. Group 1 will be “square group” and group 2 will be “circle group”. (give each group 2 pieces of cut-outs of the shape the group is named after) 1.Ask each group group to get a shape shape and fold it into three equal parts. Let them darken the crease. The “square group” will shade 1 part and the “circle “circle group” will shade shade 2 parts. 2.Ask them again to get another shape and fold it in to four equal parts. Let them darken the crease again. The “square group” will shade 1 part part and the “circle group” will shade 2 parts.

1.PRESENTING THE LESSON:
And now our lesson for today is all about “Visualizing Dissimilar Fraction” So did you know class what is dissimilar fraction? Anyone from the class?
(Possible Answers)
Ok, so dissimilar fraction are the fractions with different denominators. Did you get it class?
Yes, teacher!
And now, post your work on the board. (SQUARE GROUP)
(CIRCLE GROUP)
(NOTE: The folding style may vary for square and circle.)
2.PERFORMING THE ACTIVITIES:
Now class listen. Who can point out the picture of ¼ , and and explain it. Yes Lucy ? Very good !
(pupil’s raises their hands) This is ¼. 1 part is divide into 4 equal
shaded and it parts.
This is 2/4. 2 is the and it divide into 4
shaded parts equal parts.
This is 2/3. 2 is the and it divide into
shaded parts 3 equal parts.
This is 1/3. 1 is the and it divide into parts.
shaded part 3 equal
How about the 2/4 ? Yes Lody ? Very good! How about the 2/3 ? Ok Jesson ? Wow, very good ! And the last is 1/3 ? Anybody ? Yes Carlo ? Wow ! Fantastic! All your answers are correct. So, into how many equal parts were the shapes in Set A. divided ?
(pupils are raises their hands)
Ok, Ana ? Wow, very good ! What have you noticed with the denominators of Set A. ?
The Shape in Set A. is divided into 3 equal parts.
The same denominators.
Very good ! How about Set B. ?
The same also.
Fantastic ! Class, do you know the name of fractions with the same denominators ?
No teacher !
Ok, the fractions with the same denominators are called “similar fractions”. How about the different fractions ? Anyone ? Yes, Carmen ?
The fractions with different denominators are called Dissimilar Fractions.
Very good !

3.PROCESSING THE ACTIVITIES:
When are fractions fractions called “dissimilar”?
Fractions called dissimilar when the denominators of the fractions are different.
Wow, very good ! How about the fractions called “similar”? Very good !
fraction called similar when the fractions are the same.

4.REINFORCING THE CONCEPT: A .Individual Activity
Answer the following fractions. 1.
2.
3.
4.
5.GENERALIZATION:
Class, again when do we say that fractions are dissimilar and fractions are similar ? Yes, Kara ? Very good answer !
What are the importance when we are visualizing dissimilar fractions ? Yes, Sarah ? Very well said !
(pupil’s are raises their hands)
We can say that fractions are dissimilar when the denominators of the fractions are different and we can say also that fractions are similar when the denominators of the fractions are the same. (pupil’s are raises their hands)
The importance when we are visualizing dissimilar fractions is when the denominators of the fractions are different.
6.VALUES INTEGRATION
I will group you into 3 groups then choose your leader. Make three(3) paper cut-outs with different shapes and divide it into 4 equal parts. Then shade 1 part of the first shape, 2 parts of the second shape and 3 parts of the last shape. 7.APPLICATION: Direction: Illustrate the pair of fractions, then write “dissimilar” if the set are dissimilar
fractions and “similar” if the set are similar. 1.) 5\8, 3/8 2.) 2/4, 6/8 3.) ¾, 2/4 4.) 4/5, 4/6 5.) 2/3, 3/8 IV. EVALUATION:
Write D if the given sets of fractions are dissimilar and S if the fractions are dissimilar.
1.)
4.)
2.)
5.)
3.)
V. ASSIGNMENT:
Put a ( X ) on the blank if the fractions are dissimilar dissimilar and put ( O ) if the fractions are similar. __________ 1.) 4/9, 5/8 __________ 2.) 6/9, 5/9 __________ 3.) 6/8, 2/3 __________ 4.) ¼, ½ __________ 5.) 2/5, 3/8 PREPARED BY:
