Vincent Louie T. Yumul BSN-3H September 5, 2011 Assignment: 1. Why did Rizal decided to return to his homeland in 1887 despite the disapproval of his brother and his friends?
He was strong-minded to return to the Philippines because he wanted to operate his mothers eyes, to serve his people who have been oppressed by Spanish tyrants, to find out for himself how the Noli Mi Tangere and his other writings were affecting Filipinos and the Spaniards in the Philippines and finally to inquire why Leonor Rivera remained silent.
2. Upon arriving in Manila, what activites did Rizal undertake?
Upon arriving Manila, Rizal went ashore w/ a happy hearth he once more trod his beloved native soil. He stayed in the city for a short time to visit his friends; he also found out that Manila was just the same as when he left 5years ago. There are the same old churches & building, the same holes in the road, the same boats in Pasig river, & the same heavy walls surrounding the city.
3. What activities did Rizal engage in during his brief stay in Calamba?
During his short-lived stay in Calamba, Rizal was able write letter to Blumentritt saying that he have a pleasant voyage and is currently enjoying his stay with his family. Another activity Rizal engages in is when he established his medical clinic and his mother was his first patient. He was able to treat the eye cataracts of her beloved mother. Rizal also opened a gymnasium for young folks, where he introduced European sports. Rizal suffered from one disappointment, disappointment, this is to see Leonor Rivera.

For a reason also that there is greater efficiency writing in foreign countries.
