Job Architecture Definitions •
Job Family: Job families are used to broadly define job categories in your company. For example, your company might choose to have job families based on the function type — such as Executives and Information Technology. These job families, in turn, are then used to group associated job roles.
•
Job Role: Job roles are titles used to describe a designation held by an employee within the company. Job roles specific to a group are bundled together under a single job family. For example, the roles IT Manager, Database Administrator, and System Administrator might be bundled under the family Information Technology while the roles Director, Vice President, and CEO might be bundled under the family Executives.
•
Position: A position is a specific instance of a role that can be filled by an employee, or it can be vacant. For example, we might have a role called “Sales Director”, and there might be 4 specific positions using that role (Sales Directo r West, Sales Director East, etc.).
•
Job Code: A job code is a naming convention used to identify a job role within your company. A job code is used to match an employee or a vacant position to a role, and used to pull the appropriate job-related information to automatically populate forms and worksheets. Roles can have multiple job codes associated with them, but employees can only have one. For example, for the job role of Database Administrator, you can use a job code like DBA. This job code is then assigned to every Database Administrator employee in your company.
•
Job Profile: A Job Profile details and displays the criteria and elements of a job and can be shared with employees and content owners. Administrators builds content repositories for various content types including – Families & Roles, Skills, Competencies, Physical Requirements, Interview Questions, Job Responsibilities, etc. from which Job Prof iles will be built. Profile Templates drive the format and sections to be included in the Job Profiles. Users create Job Profiles, attaching them to Job Roles by pulling content from libraries.

Example Instance Landscape
Typical End State Instance Landscape & Migration Path The model below describes the end state instance landscape and migration path f or configuration changes from development to p roduction for the SAP SuccessFactors Suite, during implementation migration of configuration and instance usage will be phased to align with milestones in the detailed project plan. Cluster 1 instances reside on the “Preview” release stack where quarterly release enhancements are available 30 days in advance of clusters 2 and 3. During this period configuration changes in cluster 1 that depend on enhancements not yet available in cluster 2 and 3 cannot be migrated.

Instance Refresh Considerations
Instance refreshes have a lead time of approximately 4 weeks for SuccessFactors platforms and as such will need to be accounted for in detailed project planning. SuccessFactors instance refreshes are comprehensive i.e. are an exact copy of both configuration and data, it is not supported to refresh data or configuration independently it must be both. Masking of sensitive data during or after instance refresh is not supported within the SuccessFactors suite and must be manually exported, randomised and imported however the feasibility of this approach will depend of the specific configuration of each customer.
