Errors, Actions, and Warnings HP Scitex FB950 Printer Embedded Software 4.30
HP Restricted
Errors, Actions, and Warnings Errors Errors are numerical codes that may be displayed on the control panel during initialization or operational failures.
Actions Actions are messages displayed in the Attention window on the control panel that indicate a condition that prevents printing. The condition must be resolved before printing can occur. Some Actions can be reset, others will persist until the condition changes.
Warnings Warnings are messages displayed in the Attention window on the control panel that indicate a condition or possible condition that could interfere with print quality or printer operation. Warnings will not prevent printing. Some Warnings can be reset, others will persist until the condition changes.
Error Code Prefix 0x Any of the error codes on the following pages may also be displayed on the control panel with the prefix “0x”. Example: Table 1 Error Code Prefix Example Error code on control panel
Error code listed in this document
0220A005
0220A005
0x0220A005
0220A005
The prefix may be disregarded and the remaining error code looked up in the listing.
Action and Warning “Internal Codes” The listings of Actions and Warnings include columns labeled “Internal Codes”. The numbers in these columns are used internally by the software and normally are not displayed on the printer’s control panel. They have been included here for reference purposes. The typical user experience will not include these internal codes, and Actions and Warnings should best be referred to by their normal “A-xx-yyy” or “W-zz-aaa” format as shown in the “Description” column of those same listings.

Self-Healing Fuses Numerous error code descriptions refer to fuses. This document takes pains to mention in nearly every instance that the fuses are “self-healing”. This means that when allowed sufficient time to cool, the fuse will re-close on its own. However, if the original problem that caused the fuse to open in the first place has not been corrected, for example, a cable that is shorted to ground, the same error will appear when the printer is restarted. Depending on ambient temperature, the reset time may be 15-20 minutes or longer in extreme environments. During the cool-down phase, the servicing technician should explore possible causes that may have led to the open fuse originally. If the cause is not corrected, the fuse error will appear again on the next power-up. Fuses are found on the motor control board for carriage drive motor, media drive motor, and rail lift motors, and on the I/O board for all other components. So regardless of the component that may be named in the error description, for example, code 01006005, “Hdb +38V Fuse A Blown”, the fuse in question is on the I/O board, not the headboard. If in doubt, consult the electronics assembly documentation or the labels on the electronics assembly that indicate what components are connected to each board.
