System Design Specification 1. Syste System m enginee engineerin ring g model model !he home security system "eing developed focuses on #ey areas of security related ris#s and provides a semi$autonomous s emi$autonomous solution to each area !he areas covered are fire ris#s, electrical shoc# ris#, and criminal ris#s
1.1 Detection Detection Mecanis Mecanism m
!he system utili%es a set of &o! devices installed on the home and a centrali%ed controller machine machine to detect, communicate, communicate, ma#e decisions decisions and to act on certain ris#y conditions conditions !he &o! devices can detect any occurrence of an event such as a fire, "urglary, or an electrical disruption in the house "ut cannot ta#e direct decisions since it its limited in its scope of vie' !hese &o! devices sends the information of any such occurrence to the main controller 'hich receives data from many of the &o! devices in the home to create a model of the events occurring on the environment and to ma#e uic# decisions regarding the appropriate actions to "e ta#en !his is illustrated in the figure "elo'
1.2 Alerting Mecanism
nce the main controller decides that the event should "e handled 'ith an action, it tries to consult the relevant individual for further action !his ma#es the system semi$autonomous since it depends on humans to complete its o"*ective and cannot handle it "y its o'n &n the case of a fire, it informs the nearest fire "rigade+ in the case of an electrical pro"lem, it informs a pre$configured electrical technician, and in the case of a "urglary, it informs the nearest police station immediately !he system uses AP&s to directly access the automated systems of all - domains mentioned a"ove so that the ris#s in communication could "e minimi%ed !he system uses the appropriate communication technology such as E./E, or /PRS to communicate 'ith other systems &n all cases, the system manages to act locally on the pro"lem until help arrives+ for example, it 'ould ring alarms to let people #no' there is a fire in the house, it cuts out the 'hole electricity supply until the technician arrives, and even record the 'hole footage in high definition in the case of a "urglary so that there is evidence
1.! Monitoring Mecanism
!he system reuires a confirmation message from the other end, that the claim is received "y a real person &f it didnt receive such a confirmation 'ithin an accepta"le time period, it ta#es further action such as informing the next nearest fire "rigade and so on !he system also reuires a real person to feed it 'ith a pro"lem resolved message after the pro"lem is handled, so that it 'ould retain to its normal operation once again !his mechanism is illustrated in the image "elo'
2. Soft"are engineering model 1.1 Soft"are #e$%irements
!'o types of soft'are are needed to "e implemented, one for the &o! devices to deal 'ith sensors and cameras to detect any uncommon events in the environment (reuires vision capa"ilities and natural language processing capa"ilities as 'ell) !he second soft'are for the main controller 'hich deals 'ith decision ma#ing, learning, device control, and communications
1.1 &ard"are #e$%irements
!he &o! devices reuires a po'erful yet simple chipset such as Rasp"erry Pi or euivalent to process the sensory inputs in real$time &t reuires 0. cameras 'ith at least 123 degrees field of vie' Each &o! devices must include 4 high uality microphones 'ith an accepta"le sensitivity level to sound 'ith "uilt in active noise cancellation capa"ilities as 'ell &t must also include a high precision /PS module, am"ient sensor, and a 5i$6i module to communicate 'ith the main controller
!he main controller on the other hand only reuires the same level of processing po'er as an &o! device, "ecause it only focuses on decisions rather than processing signals from different sensors 0o'ever, t'o of the critical things it reuires is a S&7 card module to depend on its o'n connectivity model rather than the home net'or# &t also reuires a large storage to store recorded footage, things it learned, and patterns it discovered !his device also must "e great at &nput and utput handling as it 'ould have to ta#e actions locally 'hen reuired
