About the Company In order to ensure timely and effective completion of its works, Public Works Department has evolved a specific set up in which the different wings of the department work together. The control of the operations of these wings vests in Govt. of Punab and at Govt. level this control is e!ercised by the Public Works "inister who is assisted by the Principal #ecretary to the Govt. of Punab. $t the field level, the Punab PWD %&'() is at present headed by various *hief +ngineers who look after various disciplines like link roads ' &uildings, ational -ighways, Planning, Design, +lectrical ' "echanical Wings, Gaetted ' on Gaetted establishment and there is a *hief /igilance 0fficer. To conduct research and development work and testing of materials, PWD has an +ngineering (esearch 1aboratory in Patiala. The field organiation of the Department consists of circles headed by a #uperintending +ngineer having a number of divisions headed by +!ecutive +ngineers. The *hief +ngineers ' #uperintending +ngineers are in overall charge of survey, preparation of plans ' estimates, construction ' maintenance of works and 2uality control within their territorial urisdiction.
