NO TRAFFIC ZONE
3. Traffic zone The traffic zone will not be fenced off but traffic will be diverted away from the security area and incoming motorists will “engage” with police. Officers will be directing traffic. From June 25-27, parking will be very limited and rules will be strictly enforced, with violating vehicles potentially tagged or towed. Registration cards are not required to enter the traffic zone and anyone who lives, works or has a legitimate reason to enter will be permitted access.

2. Yellow zone: outer security perimeter Wire and concrete fences will encircle this pedestrian- and traffic-controlled zone. Fence construction starts around June 7 and continues around the clock until completion. There will eventually be multiple gates with security checkpoints. Barring any security threats, security officials will keep this area freely accessible until the evening of June 25. Residents and workers who need access to the yellow zone can ask for a registration card, which will require submitting photo ID and personal information. Those without passes will have to present photo ID and a legitimate reason for entering the zone.

7. TTC Summit security encourages people to avoid driving and take TTC. Subway stations will stay open but some surface routes will be diverted. The 504 King St. streetcar will run as usual but the 509 and 510 streetcars will bypass the Queens Quay station at Bay St., which closes from June 25-27. 8. Freeways and major thoroughfares The 400-series highways, the Gardiner Expressway, Queen Elizabeth Way and Lake Shore Blvd. will remain open. There will be “significant” traffic disruptions from June 26-27, however, as intermittent restrictions are placed on the Gardiner and Hwy. 427 due to travelling motorcades. The York, Bay and Yonge St. exits on the eastbound Gardiner will close June 25-26; the York St. ramp on the westbound Gardiner will close June 27. 9. CN Tower The tower will close from June 25-27 and
12. Steam Whistle Brewery Co-founder Greg Taylor says the brewery falls inside the red zone and be closed to the public from 5 p.m. June 25 and reopen June 28. The brewery will still operate. 13. Metro Hall optional cut if no space Metro Hall employees are being asked to take the TTC to work. The child care centre and Toronto Employment and Social Services office and Employment Centre will both close for a week on June 21. 14. Toronto ferry terminal The ferry terminal will stay open but the Ongiara ferry servicing Ward’s Island will cease operations from June 24-28. Island residents can access one of the larger public passenger ferries that will be diverted to Ward’s Island. Once docked, all passengers must exit via the west walkway. Service vehicles going to the island must access the Bathurst St. ferry and travel through the City Airport.

15. Toronto Harbour There will be increased police presence on the lake and around the harbour. Security officials are still considering implementing boating restrictions. 16. Queen’s Park: designated protest area There will be added police presence in the area to monitor protesters. Summit security also plan on setting up a video link to broadcast demonstrations into the summit venue. Due to the protests, the U of T will also close from the evening of June 23 to June 27. Police are hopeful protests will be peaceful but say they are prepared to use tear gas or long range acoustic devices (“sound cannons”) if necessary. 17. Eastern Ave. movie studio This building will house extra security personnel and supplies. Officials won’t confirm reports of the studio becoming a temporary prison but say they do have a “prisoner processing plan” in place. BRIAN HUGHES/TORONTO STAR GRAPHIC
