Classification Of Occupancies Light Hazard Occupancies: -Occupancies or portions of other occupancies where the quantity and or combustibility of contents are low and fires with relatively low rates of heat release are expected. expected. Ordinary Hazard Occupancies: • Ordinary Hazard (Group 1): Occupancies or portions of other occupancies where combustibility is low, quantity of combustible is moderate, moderate, stockpiles of combustibles do not exceed 8ft (2.4m), and fires with moderate rates of heat release are expected. • Ordinary Hazard (Group 2): Occupancies or portions of other occupancies where quantity and combustibility of contents is moderate to high, stockpiles do not exceed 12ft (3.7m), and fires with moderate to high rates release are expected. Extra Hazard Occupancies: -Occupancies or portions of other occupancies where quantity and combustibility of contents is very high and flammable and combustible liquids, liquids, dust, lint, or other materials are present, introducing the probability of rapidly developing fires with high rates of heat release. release
Light Hazard Occupancies: Hospitals ,Hotels,Libraries,Museums,Nursing homes,Offices, Prisons, Prisons, schools,Colleges, Churches, Residential ,etc.. Ordinary Hazard Occupancies: •
Ordinary Hazard (Group 1):
Restaurants , Cafes, Breweries, Bakeries, Dairy products , Garages,etc … Garages,etc… •
Ordinary Hazard (Group 2):
Post offices, Chemical plants, Plastics Factories, Clothing and Leather Factories, Shoe factories, Carpet factories, Printing rooms, Wood Wood product assembly, Wood machining , Textile , Tire manufacturing ,etc… ,etc… Extra High Hazard Occupancies: Paint and Varnish factories, Wood wool works, oil and Flammable liquid , Rubber & plastic factories, Aircraft hangars, Asphalt saturating, saturating, etc… etc…..

Types of Sprinkler Systems Wet Pipe Dry Pipe Pre-action systems Deluge system Fire-cycle system
10
Wet sprinkler systems z It is the most reliable
and simple of all sprinkler systems. z Water is always standing under pressure in all pipes and mains.
Dry sprinkler systems In which pipes are filled with compressed air until the opening of the sprinkler heads permit water flow. It operates more slowly than wet system and more expensive to install and maintain. It is used where there is a risk of water Freezing. Freezing.
11
Deluge sprinkler systems • It deliver the maximum amount of water in the minimum time. • All sprinkler heads are open & go on at once. • Connected to automatic fire detector. • Applicable for Extra high hazard system.
Pre-action sprinkler systems. Which is very similar to dry pipe except that water is admitted to the pipes before any sprinkler head has opened, and which thus sounds a very early alarm.

Alarm Valve
Type of fire extinguishing system • Transformer rooms , Engine rooms , Electrical rooms use automatic high pressure CO2 system. • Fuel tanks and reservoirs , use Foam system . • Control & computer rooms , use FM 200
