Grammar Tip : Use of a / an with nouns. As you noticed in Chapter Chapter 1 with “ I am a doctor.” or “ She is is an architect.” We use what are called articles in English for certain singular nouns. The rule is if the noun begins with a vowel ( A,E,I,O,U ) we must use AN but if the noun begins with a consonant (all other letters) we must use A.
