Immobilizer II The Immobilizer authentication process begins with the vehicle key and the induction coil. When the vehicle key is inserted into the ignition cylinder and rotated to the ON position, a signal is sent rom the induction coi l that energizes the electronic transponder in the key. key. The induction coil in the ignition cylinder receives and orwards the signal to the Immobilizer Control Module. Immobilizer III Immobilizer III operates in a way that is very similar to Immobilizer II, but adds the ECM to the algorithmic calculation process. Operation
Immobilizer IV As with previous versions, Immobilizer IV frst verifes the key, then generates a random number. The random number is broadcast on the CAN Bus and read by multiple components. These components perorm an algorithmic calculation on the number and the results are compared by J362 or J334 Anti-Thet Immobilizer Control Module (varies by model). Components Key with Transponder Transponder While the vehicle key or the Immobilizer II system is similar in appearance, it is not compatible with the keys used with the Immobilizer III or Immobilizer IV systems. The vehicle key contains a secret table o ormulae (cryptological ormulae), identical to that contained in the Immobilizer Control Module, and a Secret Key Code (SKC) display that cannot be changed.

Signal Usage The induction coil in the ignition cylinder induces a voltage in the transponder, generating a unique code. The code is read by the Immobilizer Control Module.

Access/Start Authorization Switch E415 The read coil or reading the transponder in the vehicle key is part o the Access/Start Authorization Switch Switch E415. It accepts or rejects the electronic identifcation o the ignition key by the read coil.
