Dear esteemed academic partner, It gives us immense pleasure to welcome you on-board the ‘Utkarsh’ program of Sundaram Clayton – Automotive Products Division which is specifically designed for undergraduate engineering students (pre-final year) from prominent engineering colleges in India. In past years TVS Motors – Our sister concern have had engineers from your esteemed institution taking up careers with them and have been contributing towards their own success and that of TVS Motor Company’s. Their achievements speak well of their foundations laid by you. This year, We would be very glad to have your college on board with us for ‘Utkarsh’ 2016.
Overview: Sundaram Clayton Automotive Products Division (APD) consists of the following four companies.
Sundaram Clayton Limited – Market leader in Aluminum die cast parts for Automotive applications
Sundaram Auto Components Limited – Renowned automotive aesthetic plastic parts manufacturer
Harita Seating Systems Limited – Market leader in Bus Passenger and Commercial vehicle seating
Harita Fehrer Limited – Company involved in developing Polyurethane foam and composite parts for automotive applications
‘Utkarsh’ is the brainchild of our group’s sustained efforts towards bringing a greater degree of Industry-Academic partnership in the field of engineering. Our objective with developing ‘Utkarsh’ is to attract and engage young engineers from prominent engineering colleges who have passion for engineering and a streak of innovation. These young minds will be given ample opportunities to pursue industry related projects both in their pre-final and final year in APD. They will be tutored, mentored and guided by
the best of our talent & experience; thereby developing their inherent curiosity towards engineering and hone their skills to face the world after graduation. It will afford them an opportunity to observe first-hand; the r eal-time connect between core engineering and the business as a whole. Eminent guest speakers will give the interns glimpses into the future of engineering and other aspects of industry in context. The best of the interns will be extended PPO (Pre-Placement Offers) in their 7 th semester. They will join APD as Graduate Engineers, immediately after graduation.
Program structure: - ‘Utkarsh’ involves a systematic stage-wise selection; from the time students apply to getting the PPO. The stages are explained below (chronologically):
STAGE 1 1. Eligible students apply through online portal (Utkarsh website) 2. Shortlisted students undergo a Personal Interview (PI) by APD in own college campus 3. Students selected in PI round will be invited for a 2-Day Selection Process in TVS Motor Company, Hosur (TN) 4. Successful students are offered a 6-week Internship in APD companies at Hosur or Chennai (during 6th semester vacations)
STAGE 2 1. Interns are evaluated during internship and are given a Pre-Placement Offer (given on last day of internship in APD) 2. On accepting the PPO, students will be eligible to join APD companies as graduate engineer trainees (GET), immediately upon graduating, subject to successful completion of academics & company medical tests 3. In addition, they can opt to undertake their 8 th semester projects in APD companies at Hosur or Chennai
Eligibility Criteria: - All students currently in 6th semester of B.E/B.Tech course in:
Engineering – 70% overall aggregate up to 5th semester with NO arrears

Stipend:A monthly stipend of INR 10,000 will be paid to the students during the internship.
Admin Facilities & Logistics:1.
APD will NOT offer any accommodation, however HR team can be approached for any assistance if required. There are many good options to choose from in Hosur town
2.
Bus service will NOT be provided to interns at Chennai; they may be advised to arrange for accommodation closer to the factory in Chennai City
3.
APD will offer company bus services to interns to and fro Hosur town and factory location twice a day, on subsidized chargeable basis. No bus service would be provided to Bangalore city.
4.
APD will offer canteen facilities (breakfast, lunch, and tea/coffee) to interns on subsidized chargeable basis
Certification & Rewards:On successful completion of the internship projects, certificates recognizing their work will be presented to students.
