INTRODUCTION This English Language Programme at the primary level is aimed at equipping pupils with the basic of language to enable them to communicate with one another in different situations. In schools, opportunities of this nature are rare. Hence, National English-In-Camp (EIC) is aimed at promoting the use of English as a communicative tool in various real situations. Pupils will enjoy and have lots of fun when using the language in the camp. They will bring home good memories and experiences after the camp. AIM EIC provides an avenue for participants to immerse themselves in an English speaking environment. OBJECTIVES The objectives of EIC are to enable participants to: i.
Feel at ease in using the English Language to communicate.
ii.
Experience using the language in a joyful and lively atmosphere.
iii.
Communicate more effectively and confidently
iv.
Build positive attitudes with the inculcation of moral values
v.
Develop their leadership qualities by involving themselves as leaders in the various activities organized in the camp Think critically and creatively in English at the appropriate time and situation
vi. THEMES
The theme for this year’s National Level English-In-Camp in Melaka is “Joy and Fun With English.” TARGET GROUP This camp is open to all primary schools pupils from government aided schools in Malaysia. The criteria for participation include the following: i. Target: Year 4,5 & 6 Total of Participants : 40 pupils from SK (P) Methodist 2 20 pupils from High Performance Schools 20 pupils from Melaka’s Primary Schools Each participated school is required to send 5 pupils or a maximum of 10 pupils. Every participant is allowed to participate in more than one competition.

Appendix 1 ENGLISH-IN-CAMP FACILITATOR’S GUIDE As facilitator : 1. To guide and motivate campers to speak in English at all times. 2. To guide and motivate campers to be actively involved in all the activities promoted. 3. To look after the safe care of all campers. 4. To carry out all the duties set without fail.

RULES TO ABIDE Be punctual Be with your campers during your shift. Understand thoroughly how each base activity is carried out. Be observant and on the lookout for peculiar habits or misbehavior of pupils and to inform chief facilitators. Not to punish campers but to counsel them. Wear identification tags at all times.
7. Be positive on the objectives of this camp.
CAMP RULES AND REGULATIONS What we must do: - We will wear our name tags at all times. - We will wear suitable clothings during the camp. - We will take part in all the activities. - We will be punctual for all activities. - We will speak English at all times. - We will maintain good discipline. - We will give full cooperation to everyone. - We will be courteous and friendly. - We will keep the camp site and all other facilities clean and tidy. - We will get permission if we wish to leave the camp during any emergency. - We must listen to our facilitators. What we will not do: - We will not wear expensive jewellery or bring too much money. - We will not waste food and water. - We will not destroy plants and other property. - We will not draw graffiti on the walls. - We will not litter. - We will not take what is not ours. - We will not leave the camp without permission.

Appendix 2 LANGUAGE GAMES COMPETITION Rules and regulations. 1. All participants must take part in all the games. The games are Read and Write, Treasure Hunt, Dress My Friend and Guess, Guess and Guess. 2. Teachers will be elected as helpers and record the time. 3. The games will be done in stages and in each stage, the time will be recorded. The team that can complete all the games with or without penalty wins. 4. All teams will start at the same time and location. 5. Read and Write : Each team will send a participant to read a passage pasted on the wall. No copying is allowed. The participant needs to memorize as many words as possible and return to the allocated corner to write down what he/she can remember. Then, tag another friend to continue the game. The team with the fastest and least or no mistakes will take the lead. Points will be awarded according to position. ( Pls. refer to the table ) 6. Treasure Hunt: There will be six stations in this activity. With the guide of a compass, the team must find all the check points. At each check point, they have to finish the task given. The team with the fastest time and completed task wins. Points will be awarded according to the position given. 7. Dress My Friend: One member of the team will be chosen to be dressed up by other team members. Only reuse items can be used to dress up the friend. Creativity and neatness count. The participant will have to parade in a fashion show. Panel of judges will decide the winner. Points will be awarded according to the position given. 8. Guess, Guess and Guess: Team members will be blind folded and led to a rope. As they are moving with the guide of the rope, they have to stop at a few stations where they must guess what object or things tied to the rope. No discussion is allowed. After they have finished the course, each participant will write down the answers in the worksheet given. Teams with the fastest time and most correct answers will be announced as the winner. Points will be given according to the position given. 9. Here are the marks for each game: No
