SCHEME FOR PROVIDING EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE TO DEPENDANTS OF DECEASED GOVERNMENT SERVANTS ON COMPASSIONATE GROUNDS.
Introduction: The Government first introduced in G.O.Ms.No.225, Labour Department, dated 15th February 1972, the 1972, the scheme of providing employment assistance to a dependant of a Government servant who dies in harness, leaving his family family in indigent circumstances. In Govt. letter (Ms) No.20 P & A.R.(G) Dept Dt..01.03.2002, have issued orders, the ban on filling up of posts on compassionate grounds. In G.O.Ms.No.16 P & A.R. (G) Department Dt.21.02.2006, lifting the ban on filling up of posts on compassionate grounds. Scope of the Scheme : A dependent of a Government Servant who dies in harness, leaving his family in indignant circumstances shall be appointed on regular basis in relaxation of the general procedure for recruitment through through Employmen Employmentt Exchange Exchange to all posts posts which fall outside outside the purview of the Tamil Tamil Nadu Public Public Serv Servic icee Co Comm mmis issi sion on under under latter latter part part of Regu Regula lati tion on 16(b) 16(b) of the Tami Tamill Nadu Nadu Publ Public ic Serv Servic icee Commissio Commission n Regulation Regulations, s, 1954 in respect respect of non-technic non-technical al posts like Junior Junior Assistants, Assistants, Typists Typists and Steno- Typists which fall within the purview of the Commission. In case the wife of the Government servant is no more at the time of death of Government servant servant or if the husband husband is no more at the time of death of women governm government ent servant, servant, the senior most eligible or a qualified person in the family of the deceased be selected by the appointing authority for appointment on compassionate grounds, after getting the consent letters from the other members of the family. As regards indigent circumstances, the appointing authorities shall examined the financial condition of the family of the deceased Government servant and offer a job to an eligible member of the family only after satisfying themselves that, but for the provision of employment , the family will not be able to meet the crises. crises. Regularization In G.O.Ms.No.80 Labour and Employment Department Dt.02.03.2016, orders were issued to regularize the service of those individuals who were appointed under compassionate grounds till 01.02.2016 by the Appointing Authorities themselves, where relaxation of rules is not warrented and then to send the proposals to TNPSC for concurrence.
