CHE 426N Introduction to Biotechnology 2 CHEM 31 Organic Chemistry II 2nd Semester, SY 2015-2016 9:30 AM – AM – 10:30 10:30 AM (TTH)
Course Description
In this course, you will learn the fundamentals of microbiology including types of cells, their physical and chemical str Since cells and enzymes are essential to life, you will learn their roles, production and the different factors that affe activity. It is expected that you will be able to apply the principles of fermenter design as well as the techniques for alterin so that their metabolic capability may be enhanced.
Course Outcomes (CO) Targeted Program Outcomes (PO) Upon completion of the course students should The course is enabling to to your achievement of: be able to: CO 1: Explain the structure, organization, function, genetics and metabolism of living matter in molecular terms; CO 2: Define the role of living cells (and the substances derived from them) in some biochemical reactions occurring in nature; CO 3: Critique current methods/techniques for the production of commercially important biochemical products; and CO 4: Apply the principles governing cell and enzyme kinetics in the design of industrial fermenters or bioreactors.
[PO1] Ability to apply knowledge of mathematics and science general practice of chemical engineering and in at leas specialized field of application; and [PO5] Ability to identify, formulate, and solve chemical engin problems.
The course is introductory to to your achievement of:
[PO9] Ability to engage in life-long learning and to update continuously with the current trends and development in a chos of specialization; and [PO10] Understanding of the broad economic, environmental, s and global impacts of chemical engineering solutions.
Assessment of Outcomes As evidence of having having achieved the outcomes, outcomes, students must successfully successfully perform tasks and produced quality outputs. outputs.
