What do you think is causing some of the problems in the bank's home office
and branches?
Answer:
There are some problems in bank's home office and branches. These
problems have some cause. When Jack Nelson was introduced to the
entire employee in the home office, he was introduced to Ruth Johnson.
Ruth Johnson working for two months but she does not know about the
machine that she was using. But she operates the machine properly.
Organization did not oriented and trained her properly. If
organization trained her well Ruth will clear about her job and
responsibility. The main issue in this case is employee turnover was
high during past eight years, as a result supervisor tried to find a
suitable employee to replace the worker who had quit. We know that
employee turnover is a costly expense especially in lower paying job
roles, for which the employee turnover rate is highest. There was
no standardization of recruitment process in organization. They had
also lack of communication process. Because all branch office hired
employee without communicate whit their home office. Bank's supervisor
is failure to train their employee. They have not much time for their
employee .Also they do not know about the performance of their
employee. Now we know the cause of the problem. There is some point of
cause of problems.
Following are the problems faced bank home office and its branches.
High employee turnover:
The major issue was that employee turnover was quite high within the
office
Every time an employee was hired, another was seen resigning.
Employee turn-over has a high cost attached to organization, not just
in monetary terms but also the time the manager has to spend in
training.
Lack of Training:
There is no on-the-job training for the newly hired employees
Supervisors and Managers have to provide to effectively and properly
train their employees

Do you think setting up an HR unit in the main office would help?
Answer:
Of course we think it would! Since there are HR-related problems both
in the home office and in the branches, it is clear that if a
personnel office were set up, it would need to help to coordinate the
HR activities in the branches.

What specific functions should it carry out? What HR functions would
then be carried out by supervisors and other line managers? What role
should the Internet play in the new HR organization?
Answer:
There is room for quite a bit of variation in the answers to this
question. Our suggested organization would include: HR Unit: job
analyses, planning labor needs and recruiting, providing advising and
training in the selection process, orientation
of new employees, managing wage and salary administration, managing inc
entives andbenefits, providing and managing the performance appraisal p
rocess, organization-widecommunications, and providing training
& developing services. Supervisors and Other Line Managers:
interviewing and selection of job candidates, training new employees,
appraisingperformance, departmental & personal communications, and trai
ning & development. Internet and HR: shift some activities to
specialized online service portals and/or providers

have to grapple with
Answer:
Carter Cleaning center will have the following main problems to grapple
with if they do not experience the proper management and HR practices in
their Cleaning center
1. Carter Cleaning center business has increased from two stores to six
stores which have created a need of having skilled workers, so Carter
Cleaning center will have to devise a system of Selecting, Hiring,
Training, Appraising and Compensating the employees.
2. The Carter Cleaning center will have the problem of communication and
coordination between the employees, for this they have to motivate and
guide them of right behavior.
3. Carter Cleaning center will have the problem of proper HR staff, as at
this scale of business the introduction of proper HR staff is not
profitable so site managers employed in the Carter Cleaning Center
will have to perform the job of HR as well, as every manager should
have the ability to perform staff (human resource) and line functions
both in order to be competitive.
4. Carter Cleaning center could have the problem of high turnover of
employees if the employees are not provided with the proper facilities
and health care services and if they feel as if their salaries are
unfair and unjust with regards to the work they perform.
5. The Carter Cleaning center will have to update itself with the
continuously changing trends such as Globalization, Technological
trends, Workforce diversity and Trends in the nature of work in order
to compete and live in the continuously changing environment.

What would you do first if you were Jennifer?
Answer:
If I would have been in place of Jennifer I would have done following
things
Firstly I would have devised a system of Recruiting, Screening,
Training, Compensating and Appraising the employees
I would have introduced promotion plan for the employees who work
extraordinary on the job
I would decentralized the authority by providing the power to the
lower staff employees to effectively handle the customers take on the
spot decisions to reduce any delay in decision making
I would have arranged different training programs for employees from
time to time to provide them the information of current rules and
regulations, and important events and to update themselves with the
new trends in the environment
I would have arranged complete orientation programs for new employees
to introduce them to their work and to cleaning center
I would have created high performance work system in Carter Cleaning
center by implementing human resource policies and practices in order
to produce high employee performance such as
Employment security
Information sharing
Extensive training
Emphasis on high quality work
Performance base rewards
