NAVIGATION SYSTEM Every page of the HMI panel is divided into four sections: the upper section, the lower section, the right section and the middle section.
1.1 Upper section The upper section is divided in two zones and contains those information as shown in the next picture:
Upper Section Higher zone with black background shows the most important information about the state of the crane: “Batteries”: indicate the status of the batteries in electrical room. Yellow background and red text blinking means that battery transducer is in fault or the battery voltage is very low (< 21V Dc), green text means battery status “ok” and connected (battery switch ON), grey text is battery disconnected and yellow text in black background is battery low voltage (< 23V Dc). “Diesel”: indicate the diesel mode ON. When the crane is operating in diesel mode, the text becomes green and it’s supplied by generator the operator is enabled to switch ON or OFF the diesel generator with button placed near HMI. “Electric”: indicate the electric mode ON. When the crane is operating in electric mode, the text becomes green and it’s supplied by medium voltage and the diesel generator is in stand-by. If, for any reason, the medium voltage drop, the generator start automatically. To switch from diesel mode to electric mode and vice versa, there is a key selector near the HMI. The selection must be done during crane not operation! “Emergency”: indicate the status of emergency (pushbuttons and Hoist overspeed). Yellow background and red text blinking means that one or more emergency pushbuttons is pressed or Hoist overspeed is present. Green text indicates that

emergency are ok. The status of emergency pushbuttons is detailed at page “EMERGENCY”. “Cabin Ctrl” and “Remote Ctrl” indicates if the command is enabled from operator cabin or from radio control. “Pump coupler” indicates the status of main hydraulic pump. Yellow background and red text blinking means that there is a fault in the pump. The reasons could be four: power supply fuses blown, start failure (too much time from start command and run feedback), fault of the motor PTC or sofstarter fault. Yellow text means that missing one or more permits to run the pump. Grey text means that pump is stopped and green is pump running. In a case of some permits missing, check the alarm to check which one is missing (it should be Hydraulic tap open, drain circuit not ok, oil overtemperature, drive in fault, fuses blown or PTC failure). “Cable reel” indicates the status of the Boom cable reel. The text becomes “Cable reel man” if the cable reel is in manual, “Cable reel auto” if the cable reel is in automatic. The selection of manual or automatic could be made by radio control or keyboard in operator cabin. The text inside the red line represents the alarms divided by section. “DST” = distribution, “LGT” = light, “HST” = hoist, “GTR” = gantry, “BOO” = boom and “SLW” slewing. Grey means no alarms, red flashing means new alarms not acknowledged, red means alarm present and acknowledged, yellow flashing means new warnings not acknowledged and yellow means warnings present and acknowledged. Lower zone with grey background indicate contains the logos of Emerson Industrial Automation and Italgru and, also, the status of Hoist AFE and Slew AFE. IMPORTANT: If the AFE is not switched ON, you can’t operate with Hoist or Slew.

Main page In the higher zone there are buttons to switch on and switch off both AFE. The led in the start buttons is green if there is the permits to start the AFE and is red if the AFE drive is faulted.

3.1 Status This page shows the status of the Hoist devices.
Winch: “Heater exchange” led becomes red if the circuit breaker of the heather exchanger is open, grey if the device is stopped or green if is running. “Cooling pump” led red if the circuit breaker of cooling pump is open, grey if the device is stopped or green if is running.

“Oil pressure switch” led is yellow in case of low pressure when pump is running, grey in case of low pressure when pump is stopped and green means pressure ok. “Oil filter clogged” yellow in case of oil clogged when pump is running, grey in case of oil clogged when pump is stopped and green if pressure ok. Hoist: “Encoder” red blinking is encoder in fault (communication fault or general error), green is encoder ready. “Encoder slowdown” green when hoist is in slowdown zone and grey when is in normal operating zone. “AFE Drive” green if the AFE Hoist is running correctly, yellow is command running present but AFE drive not running, grey is start command not present and drive not tripped, red is start command not present and drive not ready to run (tripped or precharge fault). “Emergency brake valve” green when the valve (60YV2130.4) command is ON, grey when the valve is not controlled. This valve is controlled when the operator moves the hoist (only if the pump is running, the emergency is ok and is present remote or cabin control) and remains open for twenty second after command remove. “Emergency brake pressure” green if the pressure of the emergency brake is ok, grey if is not ok. Rotary switch: Five leds indicate the state of the step for hoist rotary switch. Any led becomes green if hoist reach the step and grey if Hoist step is not in position. If Hoist is in Lift max, Lift step 3, Lift step 2 or Lift step 1, operator is not enabled to raise hoist, if is in Lower is not enabled to drop hoist. Emergency brake: For any emergency brake clamp, there is one limit switch that indicates the status of the clamp. Led is green if the clamp is open and grey if the clamp is closed.

Motor 1 or Motor 2: “Selected” means that motor is selected and controlled by drive. Is possible unselect one motor, in Hoist-motors page (par. 3.3), only if hoist is not running, and load is lower than 50 Ton. IMPORTANT: when one motor is unselected, alarm of auxiliary devices is completely by-passed (fan circuit breaker, heater circuit breaker, etc.…) and hoist running at maintenance speed (15 m/min). “Fan” red if the circuit breaker is open, grey if the fan is not controlled, green flashing if the fan is controlled but contactor is open (discrepancy fault) and green if fan is controlled and fan is running. Motor fan, starts when hoist command is ON and remains active for five minutes after command release. “Heater” is on every time except when the hoist is running and remains off for five minutes after command release. Led is green if the heater is on, grey if the command is off and the circuit breaker is open, red if the circuit breaker is open. “Drive” red if the hoist drive is faulted and green if the drive is ok. “Service brake” indicate the status of motor brake. Led is red if the circuit breaker is open (IN THIS CASE HOIST IS NOT ENABLED), grey if the brake is not controlled, green flashing if the brake is controlled but contactor is open (discrepancy fault) and green if brake is controlled and contactor closed. IMPORTANT: If there is a discrepancy fault (command ON and contactor open), hoist is not enabled and, probably, there is an electrical problem in the cabinet. Call the maintenance and check the problem! Load cell: Load cell device, read the load in the hook and transmit to PLC. Signal is divided into two channels. If one channel is in fault (for any reason, hardware or network or load cell devices software) led is red flashing, if channel is ok, led becomes green. Ropes slack: “Ropes slack” led is red flashing if the load read from load cell is too low and the rope is probably in slack conditions, led is green if ropes is ok. “Ropes overload” led is green if the load under the hook is inside the working range and red flashing if the load is out of range.

Load range is calculated dynamically with the angle of the boom and the number of motors selected (if there is only one motor selected, hoist can raise lower load than normal conditions). “Slack rope by-pass” led is green if the by-pass for the slack ropes is enabled, grey if the by-pass is disabled. “Crossed rope temp. by-pass” led is green if the by-pass for the crossed ropes is enabled, grey if the by-pass is disabled. Crossed rope: Three leds show the status of limit switch for the crossed ropes control. If there is a crossed ropes conditions in one of this limit switch, the led become grey. If all leds is green, normal operation is allowed from this control.

3.2 Permits This page shows the hoist permits. If one or more general permits is red, hoist is not enabled. If one or more down permits is red, lift down is not allowed. If one or more up permits is red, lift up is not allowed. If one permit missing during the movements, hoist stops and movements are not allowed until the missing conditions don’t become green again.

General: “Crane operation mode on” means that command is enabled from operator cabin or radio control. “Emergency system ready” no emergency pushbuttons pressed and HW overspeed ok. “Hoist no alarm present (Emergency)” means that there is no “emergency” alarm in the hoist system. This kind of alarm, stops hoist with emergency procedure, is for example, brake power supply circuit breaker tripped, drive in fault, chopper fault, etc.… “Hoist no alarm present (Stop)” means that there is no “stop” alarm in the hoist system. This kind of alarm, stops hoist with normal procedure, is for example, open brake timeout, emergency hydraulic circuit minimum pressure, encoder fault. If alarm presence led is red, in the alarm page is present the description of the alarm. “Hydraulic pump coupler motor run” indicate the status of pump coupler. If is not in run, emergency brake cannot open. “Hoist winch Em. Brake oil line pressure” indicates that there isn’t pressure on Em. Brake line. “Boom hydraulic oil min. pressure (P107)” indicate that “bore pressure transmitter is not in fault”. “Crane stabilized” indicate that conditions of crane stabilized are ok. IS NOT POSSBILE TO RAISE A LOAD WITHOUT CRANE STABILIZED. Crane is stabilized if all stabilizers is on ground, pressure is bigger than “propped value set point” and truck planarity sensor is not faulted and the value is in a range of +2.0, -2.0 degrees. Crane is stabilized, until system loose one of this conditions or truck planarity sensor read a value bigger than + 5.0 degrees or lower than -5.0 degrees. “Hoist at least one motor selected” means that one motor need to be selected (Motor selected, par. 3.1). “Hoist overspeed system ready” means that the signal status from HW overspeed is ok. “Hoist drive n. ready to switch on” means that drive is ready (not in fault conditions). “Hoist crossed rope” means that there is a crossed rope condition (in the winches). See par 3.1 for more information. Up/Down: “(50LS2083.6) rotary switch – Stop …” hoist reach minimum/maximum height. See par 3.1 for more information. “Hoist ropes unbalancing” difference from load cell channel 1 and channel 2 is bigger than five Ton for more than three seconds. Probably the load is not balanced. “Spreader – Down/Up run permits” cumulative permits from spreader. “Permit from cable reel” this led is a cumulative permit from cable reel. It’s red if the cable reel drive is in fault or is in manual. Hoist is enabled only if cable reel is in automatic. “Hoist ropes overload” indicate the status of overload. See par. 3.1 for more information. “Hoist load cells system ready” indicate the status of load cells. See par. 3.1 for more information.

3.3 Motors This page shows an overview of Hoist motors, winches and speed reference.
In the left side of the screen it’s shown speed reference from the manipulator, reference to the motor and reference to the winches (in m/min) calculated with the gear ratio and the diameter of winches. Real winch speed is the feedback from the hoist encoder. If Winch reference and real speed is different for too many times, a speed mismatch appears as alarm. “Hook position” indicates the height of the hook, and use as zero reference the position where the operator pushed “Zero position”. If “Zero position” is pushed when the hook is approximately near the ground, “Hook position” indicate the height of the hook from ground. “Maintenance mode” is used to perform maintenance to the crane. When pushed, limit hoist speed at slowdown value (15.0 m/min). When hoist go inside slowdown zone, speed is automatically limited to 15 m/min. IMPORTANT: when hoist go out to slowdown zone, before enable the full speed in the direction of last slowdown, operator need to perform a reset. E.g.: Hoist is rising and exit from lower slowdown zone, before lowering again at full speed, operator need to perform a reset.

4.1 Status This page shows the status of the Gantry and represents a schematic drawing of the gantry view from above.
“Stabilizer – left/right” show the pressure of the stabilizers. “Crane propped” is green when the crane is in propped. The conditions to be propped is stabilizers on ground and pressure higher than 100 bar. It auto retains until pressure is higher than 50 bar. “Crane stabilized” is green when the crane is propped and truck planarity sensor is not faulted and the value is in a range of +2.0, -2.0 degrees. Planarity is shown by the yellow/orange circle in the center of the page and in the text field “Planarity” (divided for X axis and Y axis). “Steering mode” button that indicate which mode is selected for steering and is used to change mode. Near every axis there is a text field that indicates its position (in degrees) compared to last zeroing position. If the value is positive, the axis is rotated outward (right for right axis, left for left axis), in a case of negative value, axis is inwards. The led near every tyre, becomes red if is present a cumulative fault (e.g.: steering position error, discrepancy from sensor one and two, PLC card in error, etc.), green if the steering is enabled and is regulating, grey if steering is in “Stand-by”.

“Travelling no alarm present (Emergency)” means that there is no “emergency” alarm in the gantry system. This kind of alarm, stop gantry with emergency procedure and are for example, brake power supply circuit breaker tripped, PLC card fault, etc… “Travelling no alarm present (Stop)” means that there is no “stop” alarm in the gantry system. This kind of alarm, stops gantry with normal procedure. “Distribution no alarm present (Stop)” means that there is no alarm in the distribution, like missing voltage presence, battery very low voltage, etc…. If alarm presence led is red, in the alarm page is present the description of the alarm. “Steering permits ok” cumulative permits from steering system. “Hydraulic pump coupler motor run” indicate the status of pump coupler. If is not in run, there is not pressure to move the gantry. “Crane stabilizers up” crane stabilizers have to be up to move the gantry. “Crane rotation locked” crane rotation is locked when slewing pin is in lock position, limit switch is closed. “Minimum weight” load in the hook is under 16 Ton. Minimum weight is auto retained until the load is lower than 18 Ton. “Boom angle ok” this permit is ok only if the Slewing is in 0 or 180 position and Boom radius is higher than 49 m and lower than 51 m. This permit is auto retained until range 48 – 52 m. “Translation enabled by kbd or remote control” to move translation, it needs to be activated by button in the remote control or from keyboard in operator cabin. Backward/Forward: “Backward/Forward maximum slope” translation is not enabled in one direction, if crane is too much tilted in the same way. E.g.: if crane is tilted in forward direction, crane can’t move in forward direction.

Crane is stabilized, until system loose one of this conditions or truck planarity sensor read a value bigger than + 5.0 degrees or lower than -5.0 degrees.

6.1 Status This page shows the status of the Slewing devices.
Slewing: “AFE Drive” green if the AFE Hoist is running correctly, yellow is command running present but AFE drive not running, grey is start command not present and drive not tripped, red is start command not present and drive not ready to run (tripped or precharge fault). “Encoder” red blinking is encoder in fault (communication fault or general error), green is encoder ready.

“Pin locked/unlocked” led is red in case of pin locked, green in case of unlocked and grey means pin in middle position (not locked and unlocked). “Slewing 0 position” and “Slewing 180 position” grey in case of slewing out of 0 or 180 position and green if slewing reach 0 or 180 degrees position proximity. Motor 1 and Motor 2: “Fan” red if the circuit breaker is open, grey if the fan is not controlled, green flashing if the fan is controlled but contactor is open (discrepancy fault) and green if fan is controlled and fan is running. Motor fan, starts when slewing command is ON and remains active for five minutes after command release. “Heater” is on every time except when the slewing is running and remains off for five minutes after command release. Led is green if the heater is on, grey if the command is off and the circuit breaker is open, red if the circuit breaker is open. “Drive” red if the slewing drive is faulted and green if the drive is ok. “Brake” indicate the status of motor brake. Led is red if the circuit breaker is open (IN THIS CASE SLEWING IS NOT ENABLED), grey if the brake is not controlled, green flashing if the brake is controlled but contactor is open (discrepancy fault) and green if brake is controlled and contactor closed. IMPORTANT: If there is a discrepancy fault (command ON and contactor open), slewing is not enabled and, probably, there is an electrical problem in the cabinet. Call the maintenance and check the problem!

ALARMS This pages shows all alarms present. For any alarms is represented the number (a numerical identification for maintenance), the time and the data of the alarms and a message that describe the event. There are two kinds of alarms. Alarm with yellow background is Warning: warning is not dangerous, but inform the operator that something is going wrong. Alarms with red background are Alarms: this is more dangerous family of Alarms, they could stop the crane with Emergency stop. In right section, is possible open the page that shows the alarms divided by zones.
