Scrap Metal Cargo
To ensure no damage to vessel when carrying scrap metal please note the scrap clause in the CP and the points below: Standard Scrap Metal Clause: “Charterers warrant that no ferrous metal borings, shavings, turnings, cuttings, iron swarf, or steel swarf, no oily parts, no motor blocks, nor any other material which could be categorized as dangerous cargo under the IMDG code, to be loaded on board. The initial loadings of scrap in each hold are to be lowered as close as possible to the bottom of the hold/hopper tanks so as to provide a proper flooring and cushion. Charterers to provide and pay for dunnage to cover deck and hatch coamings, ship’s rails where practical to Master’s satisfaction during loading and discharging. The same dunnage to be stored on board for reuse at discharge. All time and cost for Charterers account including dunnage removal after completion discharge. All loading to be to the Master's satisfaction and should the Master not be satisfied as to the safety of the vessel or the loading operation, then he shall be authorized to stop loading until the situation is corrected. Should the Charterers consider the Master's request or actions to be unreasonable then an Independent surveyor, mutually acceptable to both parties, to be appointed and his decision on loading to be binding.”
