Primary Examiner-—Stephen C. Bentley Attorney, Agent, or Firm—Owen, Wickersham & Erickson
[5 7 ] ABSTRACT A gun of the kind in which liquid propellant is burned in the ?ring chamber to ?re a projectile from the gun is constructed so that a number of gun modules can be combined in a modular gun. Each gun module is cam controlled, and a common cam is used to control each gun module in the modular gun. The cam can be a
?exible cam having a belt con?guration to permit the
gun modules to be arranged in both circular groupings and in non-circular groupings, such as side by side. The modular gun includes ?xed, non-rotating gun
condition without the need to depressurize the hy draulic circuits of the other gun modules and without the need to include additional bypass circuits. The in
jection mechanism for injecting the bi-propellant in cludes two pistons which are yoked together and oper ated by a single actuator to inject the propellant into the ?ring chamber both in metered amounts and in a constant mix ratio. The pistons for injecting the bi
propellant include valves in the pistons, and the pis tons are drawn through‘ the fuel on retraction strokes
of the pistons. The injection mechanism is retracted away from the ?ring chamber after the ?ring ‘of a burst to isolate the propellant in the injection mecha nism from the heat of the ?ring chamber. A rotary lock is mounted closely adjacent the bolt mechanism . and engages a relieved area of the bolt in the locked
position of the lock so that a quite small force on the
lock will hold the bolt mechanism locked against high combustion chamber pressures tending to open the bolt.

ABSTRACT
A light Weight ?eld hoWitZer includes a barrel (101) Which is supported by a cradle constructed from holloW members (119,119A) and Which is pivotally mounted about a trunnion bearing (113) secured to a chassis (117). The trunnion bearing (113) lies on the barrel axis and is positioned beyond the limit of maximum recoil of the barrel. Front stabilizers and rear trail support legs are provided to spread the load of the hoWitZer and spades are rigidly secured to the chassis
(117). The hoWitZer includes a single hydraulic accumulator arrangement (136,177,185,130,189,119) constituting a com bined recoil buffer and recuperator system. A barrel elevat ing means is provided comprising a geared manual means
(115,116,153,149,139) assisted by a precompressed gas sys tem (114,119A).

(57) ABSTRACT A kit of modular explosive ordnance disposal components may include ?ve components. The ?ve components may be assembled in various con?gurations to ?re solid slugs, Water shots, or ?n-stabiliZed projectiles. Each assembled con?gu ration may include a ?rst component having a generally cylin drical shape, a through-bore, a muZZle end, and a breech end. The muZZle end of the ?rst component may include external threads. The breech end of the ?rst component may include an internally-threaded portion for receiving a .50 caliber breech
plug. A .50 caliber cartridge chamber may be formed adjacent the internally-threaded portion. A bore of about one inch in diameter may extend from the .50 caliber cartridge chamber to the muZZle end of the ?rst component.

Loading system for an artillery gun
The present invention relates to a piece-mount(57) ed shell magazine (7) of the endless chain conveyor type intended for preferably self-propelled artillery pieces (1 ), which magazine, as a result of its design and the fact that it is mounted on the elevating system (4) of the
piece, is capable in an effective manner of having in readiness a sufficient firsthand requirement of shells (24) which may be of different types and are all promptly available for firing in any order. The shell magazine (7) according to the invention is also very suitable for modernizing older pieces.
