INTRODUCTION Worldwide, more than 1.2 million persons killed and
more than 50million injured each year in road crashes. 80% of road crashes in developing countries.
Kerala is the Second most accident prone state in
India. The accident per 1000 vehicle is 9 in India whereas
it is 15 in Kerala. 3
Average 8 people die everyday in Kerala roads. More than 140 injured per day in Kerala roads.

GIS(Geographic information system) GIS is a computer system for capturing, storing, querying,
analyzing and displaying geographic data. The objective of any GIS system is to integrate hardware,
software, and data for capturing, managing, analyzing, and displaying all forms of geographically referenced information.

LITERATURE REVIEW

METHODOLOGY Road accident data has been collected form the respective
police stations and traffic departments. Major accident prone locations (Black Spots) have been identified based on the number of accidents & severity of accidents. Field surveys were conducted using total station to collect the geometric features of the black spots. The reasons for the accidents are studied and analyzed.
