This is a small small "advanced" guide guide on "precision "precision room room clearing" with with 4 man, 3man and 2 man teams this method is typicially used by S.A.S ,Commandos, S!A teams and a select #ew o# british and $S #orces. This is also also a great techni%ue techni%ue to use use when u have a shortage o# players, wounded or are &ust undermanned #or the tas' at hand.
(hat are the principles o# precision room clearence )attles that occur at close %uarters, such as within a room or hallway, must be planned and e*ecuted with care. $nits must train, practice, and rehearse precision room clearing techni%ues until each +re team and s%uad operates smoothly. !ach unit member must understand the principles o# precision room clearing surprise, speed, and controlled violence o# action.
Surprise Surprise is the 'ey to a success#ul assault at close %uarters. The +re team or s%uad clearing the room must achieve surprise, i# only #or seconds, by deceiving, distracting, or startling the enemy. Sometimes stun grenades may be used to achieve surprise. These are more e-ective against a nonalert, poorly trained enemy than against alert, welltrained soldiers.
Speed
Speed provides a measure o# security to the clearing unit. /t allows soldiers to use the +rst #ew vital seconds provided provided by surprise to their ma*imum advantage. /n precision room room clearing, speed is not how #ast you enter the room, rather its how #ast the threat is eliminated and the room is cleared.
Controlled 0iolence o# Action Controlled violence o# action eliminates or neutrali1es the enemy while giving him the least chance o# inicting #riendly casualties. casualties. /t is not limited to the application o# +repower only, but also involves a soldier mindset o# complete domination.Controlled violence coupled with speed increases surprise. ence, success#ul surprise allows increased speed.
what are the #udamentals o# precision room clearing There are are ten #undamentals #undamentals o# precision precision room room clearing that soldiers soldiers ta'e while moving along con+ned corridors to the room to be cleared or while preparing to enter the room also during room entry and target engagement, and also a#ter contact. •
ove tactically and silently.
•
!nsure that you are set on "combat pace" this allows #or a %uic'er reaction time to movement commands and engagements.
•
Arrive undetected at the entry to the room in the correct order o# entrance, prepared prepared to enter on a single command by the section leader.
•
!nter %uic'ly and dominate the room. ove immediately to your positions that would allow complete control o# the room and provide your +elds o# +re.
•
!liminate all enemy in the room by #ast and accurate +re.
•
5ain and maintain immediate control o# the situation and all personel.
•
Con+rm whether enemy casualties are wounded or dead.
•
6er#orm a "brie#" search7scan o# the room in case ther are other entry7e*it points.
•
!vacuate all wounded.
•
aintain security and be prepared prepared to react to more enemy contact at any moment or move.
Do not neglect rear security.
things to consider upon entry The entire entire team enters the room room as %uic'ly and and smoothly as possible and and clears the doorway immediately. /# possible, the team moves #rom a covered or concealed position already in their entry order. /deally, the team arrives and passes through the entry point without having to stop. •
The door is the #ocal point o# anyone in the room. /t is 'nown as the #atal #unnel, because it #ocuses attention at the precise point where the individual team members are the most vulnerable. oving into the room %uic'ly reduces the chance anyone being hit by enemy +re directed at the doorway.
•
8n the signal to go, the clearing team moves #rom covered or concealed positions through the door %uic'ly and ta'es up positions inside the room that allow it to completely dominate the room and eliminate the threat. Team members stop movement only a#ter they have cleared the door and reached their designated point o# domination.
•
The +rst mans position position is deep deep into the near corner o# the the room. The The depth o# his movement is determined by the si1e o# the room, any obstacles in the room, such as #urniture, and by the number and location o# enemy and any noncombatants in the room.
•
To To ma'e precision precision room room clearing techni%ues techni%ues wor', wor', each member o# o# the team must 'now his sector o# +re and how his sector overlaps and lin's with the sectors o# the other team members. Team members do not move to the point o# domination and then engage their targets, they engage targets AS they move to their designated point.
•
owever, engagements must not slow movement to their points o# domination. Team members may shoot #rom as short a range as 9m 3m.
They engage the most immediate enemy threats frst.
now we will cover the techniques o each clearing ashion. 4 man precision clear 1ST MA. (here enemy #orces may be concentrated and the presence o# noncombatants is highly unli'ely, the assault team can precede their entry by throwing a #ragmentation or concussion grenade into the room, #ollowed by bursts o# automatic smallarms +re by the number one man as he enters. •
The +rst man, enters the room and eliminates the immediate threat.
e has the option o# going le#t or right, normally moving along the path o# least resistance to one o# two corners. $pon entering, the si1e o# the room, enemy situation, and #urniture or other obstacles that hinder or channel movement become #actors that inuence the number 9 mans direction o# movement. •
•
The direction direction each man moves moves in should should :8T be preplanned preplanned unless unless the e*act room layout is 'nown. !ach man should go in a direction opposite the man in #ront o# him !very team member must 'now the sectors and duties o# each position. As the +rst + rst man goes through the entry point, he can usually see into the #ar corner o# the room. e eliminates any immediate threat and continues to move along the wall i# possible and to the +rst corner, where he assumes a position o# domination #acing into the room.
