ThemoduleallowsaccesstotheCWDMchannels#C1270to#C1450orasinglegraychannel(#G1310)fromanetworkfiberandsplits/combinestheCWDM channelsetwhichrangesfrom#C1470to#C1610. The8CSM/P+#C1470-#C1610-DMcontainspowersplittersandacombination ofspecificadd/dropopticalfiltersaswellasMUX/DEMUXfilters.Thesefilters performtheadd/dropfunctiononthepre-definedwavelengthsandmultiplex/de-multiplextheeightCWDMchannels#C1470to#C1610to/fromthefull duplexsignalcarriedbythenetworkfiberpair.TheothereightCWDMchannels ofthespectrumorthegraychannelarepassedontotheupgradeport.The powersplittersprovideafacilityforpowerlevelmonitoringandopticalspectrum analyzing.Forthispurpose,theydrop5%ofthemultiplexed/demultiplexednetworksignalstobepassedontotheingress/egressmonitoringinterfaces. Themodulehaseightbidirectionalclientports,onebidirectionalnetworkport, onebidirectionalupgradeportandoneunidirectionalmonitoringportwithtwo connectors(oneformonitoringtheingressandonefortheegressdatasignal powerlevel).
