Introduction

Introduction This document is an overview of products for main-remote sites. It provides valuable information for network design, site planning, and site installation. The following site types are shown: •

The sections 2–5 show example of units, such as radio base stations and power systems, that can be used in main-remote configurations. More Ericsson units are available. Section 6 on page 22 show site material, such as cable and installation material, that suits with the main-remote sites. Section 7 on page 67 is a guide of how to chose correct power cable dimension. Main–Remote RBS System This section describes example of units in the Main-Remote RBS system for RBS 6000. A Main-Remote system consists of a Main Unit (MU) and a number of Antenna Integrated Radio (AIR) units or Remote Radio Units (RRU) designed to be located near the antenna. Note:
Refer to the CPI documentation of each cabinet or unit for the complete technical specifications. RBS, RRUS, and AIR information is found on CPI store in the folder Radio Access > Base Stations > RBS 6000 Family. Power System information is found in CPI store in the folder Site Products > RBS Site Power Systems, See Reference List on page 71.

Power Cable Dimensioning Guidelines This section is a guideline for choosing correct RRU power cable. The diagrams handle recommended maximum cable length and cable dimension depending on the RRU power consumption. RRU power consumptions are described in the document Power Consumption Guidelines, Reference [14]. The -48 V DC power connector for incoming power accepts cables with various cross-sectional areas, depending on the cable length and the RRU maximum power consumption. The values can be found in Figure 19 and Figure 20: Note:
The cable areas must be calculated for the expected maximum power consumption, refer to Power Consumption Guidelines, Reference [14].
