Pologue
It was on his terrace where I rst saw Bicoccas´s trees. He showed them to me unpretenous. In a very simple way. I felt then that his trees were not his trees. Those trees belonged to life. They were ed up to life and nature and shared its strange rules and balances.
On that terrace I was being able to see creaon under nature´s rules. I could see natural beauty. That beauty which is the quality of whatever lives on earth and it is not related to human ideas of proporon and beauty as a symbol of goodness.
I believe that I understood that the crasman, with his hands and tools, accompanied them in their own natural rhythm helping them to ourish where the stream of life was no longer owing. In this way Bicocca was demonstrang a very unusual concept for our occidental society: the concept of the beauty of what is to be corrupted and dead.
That organic beauty is what Japanese people would call Wabi Sabi. This kind of wabi sabi beauty deals not with social
construcons and tracs not with eort for its existence. Japanese love for simplicity and the Zen disposion of braking with arcial forms in order to maintain natural beauty is very well known by Bicocca.
My astonishment to see those trees was not less considering
that what I was expecng to see on that terrace was a collecon of very lile perfect humanized trees. What I saw that aernoon was a strange forest completely dierent from whatever I could have imagined. It was a forest where the most precious voluptuousness of wild life was sharing its beauty with its own corrupon. Life and death altogether in a each plant. Those trees were there, alive and dead, dancing a sll dance and I naturally thought about Kazuo Ono and his Butoh dance , or his , as he should call it, dance of the dark soul. It was there, in those ssures, in those spaces between were Bicocca in an absolutely Japanese manner, had been able to create beauty. There in those asymmetrical plants un provided of apparent raonal proporon and balance I could feel the genuine spirit of wilderness which is not organized on an axis and respects not the ideas of proporon and beauty created by mankind in these long 2000 years of culture. In that special garden, alive and dead natural and unnatural, I
saw the same tree shapes that. I could naturally nd in wood or in a forest. The disproporonate proporons. The organic unbalanced balance. The always unnished shapes of natural trees. I thought about trees as our elder brothers from which we should be able to learn.
14
I am able to arm that his trees are conceived under the shadow of Zen and Wabi Sabi concept. His familiarity to Japan is beyond queson. From this posion. I can see his works coming from his own percepon of life but sll unquesonably linked to a Japanese tradion that sustains him. I have always thought that is more dicult to maintain than to destroy. And I believe that the only way of maintaining tradions alive is by re vising them from our own point of view. Bicocca´s trees are unique and represent his free spirit and sll they are exisng under a strong Japanese tradion that sustains them. And for that reason I believe that his work is vital to keep Bonsai alive. María Godoy 2012

clasificación según origen CLASIFICATION BY ORIGIN
The techniques or steps to remove a plant from the eld are the same for almost all species, some are more complex, some not, also depends on the locaon and the terrain that is. I divided into two classes.
Yo las divido en dos clases. First class: nave trees and shrubs. In Mendoza (Argenna)

growing up trought stones and an inhospitable terrain,
lack of water, extreme temperatures, etc, nd species such as Moradillo (Schinus fasciculata - Griseb), Molle (Schinus longifolius), Jarilla (Larrea Tridentata), Piquillín ( Condalia Microphyla) and others who had incredible shapes and bark, add to that the atmospheric pressure 1,200 to 1,500 meters above sea level that makes the trees and shrubs grow stunted, will also be added the existence of animals that feed on these plants doing the work on what we call in bonsai defoliated and clamped, wich results in a compact branching and small leaves, if we add the long hours of strong sunlight and water scarcity. As a result we have an excellent material for bonsai (in this plants is a lile dicult the extracon) Second class: growing trees (these can not be called as
dened yamadori Japanese, as they have been manipulated by man) Of these are two subdivisiones: 1 Planted by man : for example where I live there are apple tree, olive tree, plum tree, pear tree, quince tree, cherry tree
and others. You can nd old plants but in form are simpler , because the man makes plants to grow it straight (to make it easier to harvest) also in most cases are kept between 2 or 3 meters (trought pruning) wich is favorable because you can nd plants with low branching. Where I live is common to see farms and abandoned elds or what is worse clearance.

Abandoned plants have posive elements neglect and lack of water generated in trees dead parts and putrefacon, bark shedding in some parts, cortex also changes its appearence, is aged and cracked the dead parts generated create a framework of veins, also not be under the care of man are expossed to aack by insects such as ants, termites, etc wich are house and living in trees hollowing logs and transforming the structure of the tree. Another advantage of recovering crop plants is that the
genecs of it is designed to give ower and fruit in the short term, wich is good because we have a bonsai that will bear fruit ( this is relave depending on species) 2 Wild trees, grown naturally by birds and others animals
Partes muertas. Negativo: Carece de movimiento.
seeds that came from crop trees: at birth and grow in rocky
soil nd more interesng shapes and textures, wild plants have a personality all its own, also at the me of extract responded more quickly to the rooted, some species like the olive tree have many dierences with the plant of origin, these dierences are favorable (for example much smaller leaf size) this wild plant is not used for culvaon, but we serves... and much, they have movement, more texture bark in most cases smaller leaves and respond well to bonsai techniques) this is what we claim when looking for a tree to become a bonsai. In summary : Crop trees
Posive : Flower and fruit. Low branching. Dead parts. Negave : No movement Wild trees
Posive : Shapes. Textures. Leaf size (in some species) Negave: Some species take much to bear fruit. Nave trees an shrubs
Posive: The nature of the plant. Negave : complicated to root.
Árboles silvestres Positivo: Formas. Texturas.

cómo elegir un buen material H O W T O C H O O S E A G O O D M AT E R I A L

Whatever the origin of the tree to extract, there are some things we must take into account.
First: Obtain authorizaon from the camp, farm, eld where it is to remove the tree.
20
Second: Will take into account the tree´s health, the old and
weaks plants have dicult respondig to rooted with posive results, consider that the me to draw the tree the same goes for a period of stress and adaptaon and if it is not healthy we have a large porcentage of not taking root. Third: another important factor is the season when performing this task, the best season is spring just when the
trees are starng to sprout and even a lile earlier is also a good me, this depends on the place where you live, for example in my country we have very disnct seasons and this is favorable because it is easier to know when is the right me because the trees express their changes dramacally.
y a m a d o r i
In winter and autumm can also be extracted, but we
have to wait unll spring to see if it was a possive work, somethimes when extracted at these seasons, some plants remove sap, is why it is best in spring since plants with the rst heat begins to sprout and this leads to almost one hundred percent certainty of a posive rooted. No trees should be removed in summer or in mes of extreme heat.

métodos de extracción METHODS OF EXTRACTION
22
Extracon of nave
In most cases, naves plants are more dicult to root, because its root system consists of long roots, thick without capillaries close to the trunk because they need to nd nutrients a few meters above the ground, by the lack of rain, have thick roots to store nutrients in the cold weather and drought. In Mendoza (Argenna) we have a semi-arid climate as I said the best examples of nave species are in the foothills of The Andes where the climate is extreme and plants are prepared to survive in this enviroment. This is a negave point because it does not have ne branching near the base of the trunk. One way to solve this problem is to do an air layering but in
the root, is good to use hydrogel with roong hormone since this provide moisture and will not be necessary watering since we are talking about plants that are located in remote locaons. Aer obtaining new roots, cut the old roots bellow the layering and planng, is best to use a soil mix of 80% pumice and 20% compost (see that do not suer the lack of water). Do not confuse the fact that they live in areas with lile water with wich the plant does not like water, some species that live in desert areas aer living in pots love the watering.. Extracon of wild species
Wild species respond very well, in mendoza (Argenna) usually born in forested areas, wich is favorable, because in this places microclimates are generated, in wich one could say that there is a higher percentage of humidity and soil has also moisture, wich generates capillaries a few inches from ground level. This ensures a successful extracon.
y a m a d o r i
It should be noted that he trees in this category growing in
forests because those responsible for planng seeds are the birds, wich abound in the wooded areas. It is good to use roong hormone and a soil mixture of 50% pumice or aquarium pellets and 50% of soil. Removing crop trees
You can nd healthy trees or abandoned for a long me even almost dead trees. When the tree is healthy theres no problem, because being
healthy have what it takes to respond to root pruning, generate new ones and sprout.
Use a soil mix of 80% pumice or aquarium pellets and 20% of soil. In this case we must have a lile more care, as there are pest such as ants or taladrillo (Hylotrupes bajulus) specially in fruit-trees wich are dicult to combate, eggs or larvae are found inside, in areas that can not be reached with a single poison or sprayed (something that gives me good results is to inmerse the tree completely in water with poison for 24 hours, thus the wood absorbs the water and poison penetrates) another way to remove pests is brushing the crust to remove aphids or other pest. It is good to put roong hormone. Use a soil mix of 50% pumice or aquarium pellets and 50% of soil. Somethimes it is best to leave this plants, in most cases do not respond to a transplant or changes because they have not force, most are located in this state from lack of water,
a good opon is to try to generate new roots in the same place that is removing soil and roong hormone providing and water periodically, aer a year you can get new roots and thus increase the posibility of a posive extracon, but not in all cases it is possible to do this (wether it is a land next to remove)

Manzano abandonado casi muerto Le almost dead apple tree
In the case of an extreme situaon in wich the me to extract the tree is immediatelly, we will consider the following recommendaons:

Irrigaon water has to go trough the roots, weng and quickly drain. Keep an eye on pests that may have, because if it prospers

some, It will be fatal since at this point the trees are weak and could die.
Once we have a tree with branches of 10 cenmeters we can apply an organic ferlizer high in nitrogen, thus accelerang growth. It need not to be excessive the amount of nitrogen, that are formed weak plants, with so ssues and therefore more prone to pests and diseases, to the wind, rain, hail and frost. Appears gummosis in fruit trees (exudaon of gum from the trunk and branches) It also depresses the absorpon of phosphorus, potassium, copper and other. In all cases is good to have a greenhouse to accommodate
the plants, if you do not have one, its funcon can be replaced by placing a trasparent nylon bag to wrapt the tree an the pot completely. This will create a microclimate and prevent dehydraon of the tree (irrigaon should be reduced, because the moisture is retained in the bag) If the plant does not sprout over 15 days (always do so at the appropiate me menoned above) we can put a black nylon
y a m a d o r i
bag, this causes a lack of light, wich encourages the plant to
sprout in search of light, then we can remove the bag aer sprout and place the plant in the shade unll lile by lile to get used to the sun´s rays, and if we suddenly expose the plant to the sun, these sprouts that were born in low light, will burn. The ideal is to let these plants grow and develop at least one
year (depends on the specie) to begin working.
It is good to see the plant and depends on where branches
sprout (more or less get an idea of future desing) to know what branches will use, make a selecon and delete the ones you will not use. To take advantage of the vigorous early growth of the newly rooted tree and that the force is enrely used in the branches that need to faen, straining the branches in the adequate posion (depending on the possible desing) for that they have a natural birth, grow from the beginning with the inclinaon and right direcon, otherwise when this branches thicken and try to bend and take them to the posion, the birth of the branch would not be very good or be broken and we will have to force them too much and would end up cung them to start again.

Let me give as an example the species I like to work with and

On the islands of Mallorca olives grow at mercy of weather (wind of 120 km/h, the salinity of the sea wind, which wears away the dead wood and gives excellent excellent and unlimited forms) if we take this plants as a source of inspiraon, i think we can reproduce more interesng bonsai, and remain olives, although some people nd it hard to associate with the common form. Not limited to the common forms of the species is a good idea. The sourses of inspiraons are... just need to nd and then open the mind to understand and reproduce in our own bonsai.

Without queson my favourite tool when creang a bonsai is wood carving. My desings are based on this. Find and select plants that allow me to apply this technique and achieve noceable results.
Choose plants that lack dead wood, because what I like is to

create it myself. Many people when working the wood aim to achieve a look the same as natural as possible, I do not seek these results, I do like to see the wood from the trees in nature, is a very
important and unique source of inspiraon, but at the me to translate this into my trees, I nd the thin line that separates the natural of what might be called or classied as arcial, together with the rest of the tree, are a perfect combinaon, a sculpture that transmites sensaons and awaken moods and emoons in the viewer.

It is logical that the me gives you a lot of experience, but the most important are the results, not how and how long it took to carry it out. Art is subjeve therefore can not be wrong, art is evolving, needs evolve and to bring new ideas, on the assumpon that nature is our inspiraon, and the same is free and evolving, right would do the same.

This tree is owned by Mr. César Manubens
I am inspired to look a trees in their natural states, trees
that do not comply with rules wrien by the man, trees struggling to survive, reecng wisdom, the contrast of life and death. The desing of a bonsai should be free, without es or limitaons, while maintaining aesthec balance; this balance is within each, for some it can be aesthecally for others it may not be; depends on how you look. This is a work done in conjuncon with some students from my school Olea Bonsai and put as an example of desing an amazing plant wich unfortunately broke out from the base to a few cm of soil, had to nd a way to do something good with the plant, since it is an excellent material, a Pomegranate of many years. The only way to bring the living part of the apex was lying down the tree and make a kind of windswept, dead wood carving, and create a sense of movement, combining the
movements of live branches with wood (in photos 13, 14, 15 you can see how alive branches are carried to dead sectors, passes throught a hole in the trunk, taking them out of another hole that is higher and thus to raise the green mass) create harmony, textures in the wood, retain some dead bark to have the tree elements (bark, dead wood and green) the crust in this plant plays an important role since the tree is almost all dead, if you take away the enred crust would be a lot of dead wood. By the technique of dead bark preserved we can do the same to be part of the desing without any problems later. Go from a plant that many would have dismissed to be a
stunning bonsai with a very parcular desing.

Transformaon is the key element when working with this material. Training the imaginaon to have the vision to see dierent things, new opons of forms, change something that already exists, modied to transmit other sensaons. Alter or change the way keeping the identy. In this example you can see a drasc change in the structure of the tree. Transforming the composion conveys and reveals things hidden. As I said “train the vision to see those things hidden” acquiere the abillity trought the use of tools to bring that vision, is a complicated process that is achieved trought pracce. There are somethimes many ideas and possibilies, a decision is also complicated in some cases, important thing is to always do what one thinks is right, if something goes wrong, is not a problem, because we can reprocess, errors somethimes lead to something beer. Transformaon is a process that envolves as the work progresses, we do something and we do have problems, that´s the fun of working this way, when there are problems to solve, situaons arise that make the job more entertaining. I think the tree is the one who decides to where you can get and what you can do, is important to realize that and respect it.

The thumbs represent the sector in this picture that stem and remove, thus creang a space betwen some bers wich compose the branch, thus weaken th e branch.

creando madera CREATING WOOD
What always caught my aenon in a bonsai from my early days as an autodidact in the bonsai world was dead wood, the combinaon of life and death, poles apart coming together and in harmony arouse feelings incomparable. A tree with dead parts, hollow logs, dead branches, etc, commands respect, it is like an ancient who has already live trought, reected in the marks of their skin, full of wisdom, taching and struggles won.
This is what I want my trees to reect , that´s why I am so interested in dead wood work, ghater plants who doesn´t have this, olive trees in Argenna do not grow in mountainous or roky land, so they are straight plants are not the same as in Mallorca and Menorca (Spain) , the reason it is that they are not nave plants of Argenna. This took me a total dedicaon to create natural woods.
It is not the same collecng a plant with a natural dead wood, to collect a plant that has no dead wood and create it yourself, takes more work and apply more dedicaon and technical to achieve a credible and original result. Then I will tell you some of the techniques applied to wood to create texture and movement.
54
Each species has its wood, each has its own texture,
hardness, brous, etc, therefore, each species should be treated in a parcular way, we will cite all the examples of a single species (olive) to start is worth nong that for dead wood work should always choose a hardwood species, because it is more resistant, sowood plants do not serve, degrade wood faster. Also something to consider when choosing the material that goes into your work, is the movement of the tree structure,
as in the case of hardwood, can not be bent trunks and large
branches (can be achieve by transforming these branches in dead wood, you can not keep living veins) as in the case of junipers (you can reach a few cenmeters cupping branches what is dicult is to make the veins connue to live the bark of hardwood trees are not that fexible as that of the conifers) I put an example in the photo.
In the second picture you can see the choise of the future structure of bonsai. Black lines mark by wich to cut, red arrow shows the movement that I use.
In this picture you can see the nished tree, and as with the wood work can be noced the movement.
55
In this example can bee seen as the movement of the tree was hidden, eliminang some, movement appears, and with the helps of cut is increased and unies the desing.
56
técnicas de modelado de madera
57
One technique I´ve been doing lately its to bend branches or thick trunks, to use it as dead wood, when a tree has no dead wood movement, can be transformed with this technique, I will explain it. You can bend a living trunk of 10 cm (to use it as dead wood) The tecnique consist in hollowing, weakening the wood at the points at wich to apply force carefully bending not to let too weak because it could cut, then wired with a thick wire and bends, being green wood yields at points that weaken, yields as will ghten security seals to the area, there are parts that break and bend others, in the following photo is marked with a blue circle the part that exes, and the red one that is cut by bending (marked with a yellow arrow) the parts that break are moved a few inches to a new place (marked with green arrow) the wire keeps it in this new place, is the me where we apply glue and let dry, glue can be mixed with sawdust to make it stronger, and strength and endurance that will exercise the wood by removing the wire, the part that is exed, in a few days when we exposed the tree to the sun, dried and kept in his new posion and you can remove the wire and stay in his new posion. It only remains to rene wood and conceal the parts with glue, having a so brush to hide. With this technique we can transform a straight tree with showy woods. These are two examples of how wood carving movement and taper can be achieved.
With the carving we can make big changes in a plant, as another example a large wooden ball at the apex completely unsightly can be transformed into its opposites, an apex
degraded with textures that reects age.

crear movimiento CREATE MOVEMENT
60
How to desing the woods
What for some is a dicult problem, for me is an innite possibility to create forms. Many mes people turn to cover with branches or green parts of trees, parts that have not been worked, cut stumps, trunks, etc; I thik that we should not hide anything ; on the contrary must be transformed, and make the transformaon is part of the desing. We can make that this problemac part of the tree, becomes the most striking part of bonsai, or perhaps a touch that balances the desing. The carved wood or dead wood creaon can be used to make details to solve problems or to be the inial kicko when you start working a yamadori or any tree. Depends on type of bonsai that you wants to create, also depends on the taste of the arst, in my case that I work with yamadoris or plants collected, most of wich are ancient plants, tall trees that are reduced, and in doing so we are le with a thick trunk and lots of wood, need to carve, work it, and I always prefer to use them as dead wood and not to eliminate or dissimulate them, I prefer to look and to bring drama to the work. For example
Another most common way to hide the cuts, is working with
the healing, as in the case of sowood trees, these are fast growing and allows us to close wounds and drasc pruning, but the hardwood trees are slower g rowing most, and would take years to achieve close a cut of 20 cm for example, besides the dierence betwen this two techniques is that wood carving achieve more arsc.

uso de herramientas USE OF TOOL S
The most important thing for a good job is having the right

In this photo it looks like I take away what could have been the apex, at that me had thought of doing a heavy desing, a tree of a small stature and width, some grotesque.
Already painted wood and wood work done.

My idea was to do something like this. But with me and aer looking a thousand mes, I realized that I made a mistake by remove the trunk with wich could have made an apex, so that the tree was more estylized, I stracted the plant on April 2008, I started to work on it two months aer, since then I looked at it and I was not convinced. Then I found a piece of dry wood at the base of an old olive tree, I brought it home, I did try to create an apex for that tree that looked like a dinosaur egg, so I could give it what it needs.
The most important thing is that the work is well done, that
it´s to say, not be noced wood joints and that the wood is rmly aached, what i did was nd a way in wich the wood looks beer and t in with the wood of the tree like a puzzle.
Here you can see the pares will adhere. In the wood of the tree mark with two red dots the place where I will bore to place the anchors to secure them.
Marco en la madera seca en donde irían los agujeros y perforo solo unos centímetros, que no pase de lado a lado, la idea de colocar tarugos es no afectar la parte externa de la madera, para que no se note nada Dry wood frame where the holes would and drilled only a few cenmeters, not pass side by side, the idea of placing anchors is not to aect the outside of the wood, to avoid being noce.
As dowel I use a piece of bamboo, the length is calculated by inches that will go into the tree and those who will enter the dry wood.
67
The hole has to be the same diameter as the dowel ll the hole with glue, insert the dowel. Here you can see how the glue out for the p of the cane, that´s why I use bamboo, the glue gets inside and this does serve as a bridge to join the two parts well.

TECHNIQUES TO ACHIEVE TEXTURES IN THE WOOD
There is a tool that gives the nal touch... and is available to all, sun and water, at the end of the carving and rened the wood, it is best to place the tree in full sun, this makes cracking the wood, giving a natural air. I always leave the worked plant in the sun one month,

applying water to wood, water causes the wood to hydrate and the sun causes it to dehydrate, as a result we had cracked wood, in some species the wood is part.
Also to create this eect in a more accelerated and accentuated way, is to use steam, I use a home method, involves placing a tube three fet long at the peak of a tea pot, lling up half the pot and by boiling water vapor will come out by the end of the hose, applying this steam in parts of the wood, let the hot steam a few minutes, implement this system troughout the desired area; being careful not to get too close to live parts; then expose the tree to the sun, the fastes dehydraon is best, using this method achieved spectacular works.

When the work is completed, polysulde place, the liquid that gives the nal touch to the wood, providing an ash colour and protecng it from insects, also prevents degradaon. Time is also an important tool, is what gives us maturity

técnica de conservación de corteza B A R K C O N S E R VAT I O N T E C H N I Q U E S
72
Somethimes we have plants that somehow mark veins and
le dead parts, the bark of these dead parts logically fall of, that somemes can be a problem when we have a bonsai with an established desing. The reasons for this to happen can be, wrong transplantaon, some root rot, some frost that causes the plant to lose a living part of its trunk, this could ruin the aestethics of our bonsai, it would be nice to preserve that crust (althought no longer fulll the funcon of transporng food) that the work does not change on an aesthec level. Oen choosing a front for a desing and we have this problem (as the plant within the veins that way and the bark of future ahead begins to detach) wich forces us to change the chosen front. By working with yamadori or collected trees that is something that can happend, if the plant is large and fragments of bark have a size that allow us to place synthec glue, is one of the soluons (then the plant must be taken care of excess water and can soen the glue) now if the plant is small or the pieces of bark are many and small (each species has a type of bark, for example the pomegranate has a bark that peels of in small grids) the soluon is to put spray mae varnish, impregnang to penetrate between the wood and cortex funcon as glue and so protect the dead bark, every two years would be advisable to repeat the acon. If using glue to sck the bark we can also protect it with varnish, the glue adheres the bark to the wood and the varnish protect both from moisture.

cómo doblar madera muerta HOW TO FOLD DEAD WOOD
Somemes we have dead wood materials from the sourse, somemes we would like this wood were otherwise, that had some movement, are two opons, cut the tree and remove the wood; this would completely change the desing, and the other is trying to change that wood to make it as we want. With this plant going to do that, is an olive tree and olive wood dry, not like conifers that can be manipulated easily

using heat or steam heang the wood, olive wood and most of the trees that are hardwoods bers are very compact and had very lile exibility, gummy resin is not therefore the heat will not soen or lease, the wood is really hard, on chapter 3 wood modeling techniques (wood building) shown how to fold a living trunk, to use it as dead wood, in this case is simpler because the wood is more exible to be green, and respond readily to the applied technique but when the wood is dry is totally dierent, just breaking and playing with the strength of wood, ghtening and weaker parts of the wood, applying force and breaking as in the nature. There are trees in the nature of suering cracks in dry wood, the same almost always do following the grain of the wood, this phenomenon that takes many years to occur, completely changes the structure of the tree, we just have to act the same way they do the phenomena climate and natural aecng trees, insects such as the taladrillo (Hylotrupes bajulus) ants or termites weaken parts of the wood, the role of this insects us replace them working with a carvin tools, and the force exerted by the weight of snow, or the wind wich would provide the necessary factor for this weak wood to break, replace them using levers and tensors. de la nieve o la de los vientos los cuales aportarían el factor necesario para que esta madera ya débil se quiebre, la remplazaríamos usando palancas y tensores.

cómo adosar ramas HOW TO ATTACH B RANC HES
In this case I am gong to share with you a way to conceal the Adding a dry branch to our design also achieve a noceable change.

I am going to show you how unite these death branches to

Always this heart below low frequency earthquake in the ribs
treeing in middle of the chest permeang the bones members drying like ivory and then tum tum the beat beang the hidden life of the seed and the world roaring like a beast not like the sea (not like the sea) The rst thing was a beat a master beat and then on everything spling in parcular meculous and de-tailed sounds. A trill. A wave and thousand lile things purring inside the bodies. (Important for this master piece that lasts ten minutes ten million years ten milliseconds) Seed under earth sounds ll it brakes shoulder blades hurt but she can´t scream she lile box spling the hinges back opening greening blooming born in the dark un seen un heard unless you sck you ear to the soil in your garden breathless you listening to the seed´s labor. Seed treats under the garden with minuscule organisms And screams her way out between lumps But we cannot hear her voice here i am here i am
She tangles grow gives a stem and face light so that she can aord a ower. Singing cradles her buds. She is now a very strong upright plant powerful in her roots singing cradling her pigeon. Opening. She he he she she is he he is she At the same me. Tell me How do wings or petals sound when they unfold? When they open to light and sound and heat and cold and other creatures that walk the world? The ower is there. Unknowing her beauty her perfume her shape. At last the rhythm of lost colours. She dries precious like a very old lady or a bearded old man. And falls. Falls. Falls. Now she is a piece of earth. Silence again. The roaring under earth again tum tum. M. G.
