SAFE WORK PROCEDURE FOR HACKING 1.

The person supervising the hacking must make a detailed study of the structure to be hacked and implement a hacking plan that will ensured that the sequence of hacking does not posed risks and hazards to both operator and other workers.

2.

Brief all workers involved on the risks and hazards involved and the safety measures taken to address any potential hazards and/or danger that may arise, and provide standing supervision.

3.

Work area must be barricaded prior to start of operations and warning sign be displayed.

4.

Ensure that no person shall enter or work near hacking area.

5.

Direct sufficient water at breaking point to reduce dust, when necessary.

6.

Beside the basic PPE, workers are to wear protective gloves, ear plug, dust mask and safety goggles.

Using Excavator Mounted Hydraulic Breaker  1.

Excavator mounted hydraulic breaker shall only be operated by trained & qualified operator with valid certification. certification.

2. The excavato excavatorr operator operator must inspect inspect excavator excavator,, breaker breaker & its assemblies assemblies on a daily daily basis to ensure that they are in good working condition before any works commence.

3.

Supervisor shall ensure that monthly maintenance is carried out and report submitted to Safety Department.

4.

Excavator shall be fitted with glass shield, rear view mirror, etc.

Using Air Breaker  1.

All air compressors must have valid Approved Examiner certificate (every 24 months).

2.

Check the fan belt, battery water, engine oil, compressor oil and the presence of a fire extinguisher.

3. Air compresso compressorr shall be placed placed away away from the edges edges of building building,, access way way and excavation.

4.

Ensure the guard or coupler of the air hose is properly and tightly connected to the machine and the adjacent hose by WHIP arrestor.

5. Do not use if the hose and connection showed sign of worn, cuts, bulges and abrasions. 6. Ensure the pressure is turned to the lowest point to reduce noise level. 7. Ensure the nozzle is being held by a worker before turning the air pressure on. 8. Do not kink the hose to stop the flow of air pressure. 9.

When running the hose on the ground, take precaution to prevent any circumstances that may lead to the damage of the hose.

10. Provide

barrier like netting / canvas if any person working near the hacking area to prevent injury due to flying concrete debris,
