Converting Characters from Marvel Super Heroes to Supers! This system is designed to convert characters from TSR’s old Marvel Super Heroes (MSH) to Supers!. RESISTANCES For the most part, Resistances in Supers! have clear equivalents in MSH. Reaction is the equivalent of MSH’s Agility, Fortitude is the equivalent of MSH’s Endurance, and Will is the equivalent of MSH’s Psyche. The only Resistance without a clear equivalent is Composure. Composure, therefore, should simply be assigned in accordance to how cool, stylish, self-possessed, dignified, and confident the character in question comes off in the source material. One might consider the Will/Psyche attribute as a starting point for making this determination, but it doesn’t always equate. The following tables provide the actual conversion values. SUPERS! Example: Mike is converting Spider-Man from MSH to Supers!. Spider-Man’s MSH write-up lists his Endurance at “Incredible,” his Agility at “Amazing,” and his Psyche at “Incredible.” Consulting the appropriate tables, Mike assigns the following values to Spider-Man’s Resistances: Fortitude 5d, Agility 5d, Will 4d. Now he has to assign a value to Spider-Man’s Composure. He considers making it equivalent to Spider-Man’s Will 4d. He knows enough about the character, however, to determine that Spider-Man is the consummate “everyman” superhero, with a pretty mundane bearing and sense of self. He therefore assigns Spider-Man a Composure 2d.
APTITUDES For the most part, Aptitudes in Supers! equate to Talents in MSH. MSH Talents are not normally ranked in character write-ups, but they are usually attached to a controlling Ability. In most cases the Talent/Ability pairing is pretty obvious. Acrobatics, for instance, is linked to a character’s Agility, while Science skills are linked to a character’s Reason. To make the conversion, simply determine the controlling ability and use its rank to make the conversion using the table below. SUPERS! APTITUDE

Example: Spider-Man’s MSH write-up lists Acrobatics as one of his Talents. Mike determines that Acrobatics is best converted to Supers! as Athleticism. Mike now has to assign a value to Spider-Man’s Athleticism. SpiderMan’s MSH Acrobatics is linked to Spider-Man’s “Amazing” Agility. Consulting the Aptitude/Talent table, Mike determines that Spider-Man’s Athleticism should be ranked at 5d. All Aptitudes over 3d must have a specialization, so Mike defines Acrobatics as Spider-Man’s Athleticism specialty.
POWERS Converting powers involves finding the appropriate match between the systems and then assigning a value using the table below. In addition, any MSH Strength score above “Remarkable” should be counted as Super Strength in Supers!. Example: In MSH, Spider-Man has the following powers: Wall-Crawling (“Amazing”), Spider-Sense (“Amazing”), and Web-Shooters (“Incredible” on the first round, “Monstrous” once it hardens). Running down the list of powers in Supers!, Mike determines that Spider-Man should have the following powers: Super Senses (Danger Sense), Wall Crawling, and Webs. Mike notes that Spider-Man also has an MSH Strength rank of Incredible, which qualifies him for Super Strength in Supers!. Now Mike needs to assign values to his favorite web-slinger. Consulting the chart, he determines that the Wall Crawling should be ranked at 5d. Webs is a little trickier, because MSH assigns two values for Spider-Man’s web-shooters. Mike decides to split the difference and gives Spider-Man Webs at 6d. Spider-Man’s Spider-Sense should be ranked at 6d, but Mike only has to buy Super Senses at 3d because of the way the power works. A straight conversion of SpiderMan’s Strength would yield a Super-Strength score of 5d. This is an acceptable value, Mike knows that SpiderMan can lift 10 tons in the comics. Super Strength 5d would allow Spidey to lift 16 tons, while Super-Strength 4d would allow Spidey to lift 8 tons. Mike decides that the 4d is a little more accurate, so he goes with the lower of the two options. Although not listed on Spider-Man’s MSH write-up, Mike knows that he should buy a few levels of Super Leap (3d) to round out the character.
Converting Characters from Marvel Super Hero Adventure Game to Supers! This system is designed to convert characters from the Marvel Super Hero Adventure Game (MSHAG) to Supers!. Simply use the table below to convert values from one system to another. Fortitude is equivalent to Strength. Reaction is equivalent to Agility. Psyche is equivalent to Will. Composure will have to be assigned according to knowledge of the characters as they appear in the comics, as there is no direct equivalent for this Resistance in MSHAG.
