INTRODUCTION This work Instruction explain the procedure to place the design support using the Task module Hangers and supports in software Smart Plant 3D.
2.
PURPOSE In order to issue the Isometrics to Stress group for analysis, it is mandatory to show the support mark on the Pipeline in Isometrics. Hence, Using the Task Hangers and Supports, Piping Designer should place a design support on the Pipeline which will be shown in Isometric when extracted from SP3D.

PREPARING TO PLACE DESIGN SUPPORT This Guide Document assumes that SmartPlant 3D is already installed on your machine and that an administrator has set up a project and libraries for you to use. Before you can place a design support you must first start SmartPlant 3D, open a SmartPlant project and open a piping model within that project.

PLACE A DESIGN SUPPORT When you have loaded the Workspace with required piping model to be placed with Design Support, Switch to Hangers and Support Task from Main menu as shown below.

Now the Hangers and Supports Vertical Tool bar has been activated and select Place Support by Point command as shown in figure below.

TIP: Activate Pinpoint or Point along command to place support at required place on the piperun When the Place support ribbon bar is activated, check the Design box as shown in figure
Select the Pipe feature and accept.
Now the smartstep prompt you to select the Structure to use to support the selected pipe feature Select the structure and Accept. Note: Selecting the Structure is optional in Placing the Design Support.

Now enter the position of the Support on the pipe run using pinpoint or point along command at specific location precisely.
Finally click on Finish button on ribbon bar to complete the placement of Design Support.

PLACING MULTIPLE SUPPORT Before start placing the multiple supports, you must enable Point along command from Tools → Point Along. When the command is activated, select the Reference button on Point Along Ribbon Bar and select the Pipe feature along which you intent to place multiple support
Now select Place support by point command from Hangers and supports vertical tool bar. When the Place support ribbon bar is activated, check the Design box as shown in figure
1). Select the Pipe feature to place support and Accept 2). Select the Structure to support the selected Pipe Feature. (Optional) and Accept 3) Now you should select the location of the support. Use the Reference Point Button on Point Along Ribbon bar to select the from Point on the pipe feature as shown in figure below.

Select the any one of the Handles of the Pipe to define the from
Point
After defining the from point, enter the distance on Point along Ribbon bar. Then enter the number of copies of support that you want to place, by using the Copies Combo box on Place support ribbon bar.

You now should be able to view the supports on the Pipe feature at specified distance as shown in figure above. Click on the workspace to accept the locations and click on Finish button to complete the placement the Supports.
You now have successfully finished placement of multiple supports on Pipe feature at required distance.

SUPPORT MODIFICATIONS This section explains the procedure to modify the support properties like, Support Tag, Support type, Support Load. To do any modification on Support, Select Support in the Locate Filter Box
Now select the support from the workspace to modify the properties and right click on the support to navigate shortcut menu and select Properties.
On the properties page set the required properties like Load, Material based on design criteria.
