COURSE SYLLABUS In SOCIETY and CULTURE with FAMILY PLANNING 1st semester, SY 2017-2018

Course Description
The course will introduce to the students concepts, theories, and perspectives vital in the understanding of society and culture. An in depth discussion of basic social institutions forming the social structure will be emphasized in order to increase the awareness of students of the current issues confronting the present social structure. In so doing, the students are also expected to understand their individual and collective functions in confronting such issues. Furthermore, a special discussion will be devoted on family planning, taking into account family planning and reproductive health concepts and issues that are significant agendum of the society’s project on social order V.
Course Objectives 1. Provided a deep and principled understanding of how educational processes relate to larger historical, social, cultural, and political pr ocesses 2. provided a meaningful and comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter they will teach 3. applied a wide range of teaching process skills (including curriculum development, lesson planning, materials development, educational assessment, and teaching approaches) 4. offered direct experience in the field/ classroom (e.g., classroom observations, teaching assistance, practice teaching) 5. applied creativity and innovatively in thinking of alternative teaching approaches, take informed risks in trying out these innovative approaches, and evaluate the effectiveness of such approaches in improving student l earning
