Duration: ca. 12´
EXPLANATIONS
SAXOPHONE - fast or slow vibrato (according to the graphic model).
~~~~~~~~~~~
- smorzato produced by motion of the lips in free rhythm.
- mixture of normal tone and air noise (“rustle tone”)
VIOLONCELLO s.p. - sul ponticello. - bow directly on the edge of the resonant body to produce a weak noise without definite tone. flautando - minimal bow pressure. senza arco - strike against the string with the finger of the left hand.
BOTH INSTRUMENTS - gradual transition to the next method of playing. - quasi cresc. - quasi dimin. µ - raising by a quarter tone. i - lowering by a quarter tone. Glissando should assume the whole value of the inicial tone.
PROGRAM NOTE The piece consists of two contrast movements: Vivo and Lento. The first one, built from rapid passages and sustained tones, is like an ouverture to the second movement - very slow, soft and meditative. Sounding sometimes chimerical, the second movement suggests suggests the idea of acoustic beauty of every sound and its echos surrounded with silence. Alexander Shchetynsky
