OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Functional description The central unit's primary function is to provide both visual and audible fire alarms. To ensure that the system is always in perfect working condition, the panel monitors continuously all internal circuits and functions, and all cables and equipment mounted externally. The panel gives visual and audible alarm of all operational disturbances.
FIRE
ServoFighter C 4
The fire alarm panel is operated by buttons marked LAMP TEST, PANEL RESET and ALARM SILENCE, and a numeric keyboard (0-9 / C / Enter). The numeric keyboard is used to perform disconnections and changes in the customised programming of the panel.
Normal operation Normal operation is indicated by a green green lamp POWER. No other lamps or outlets are active.
Fire alarm Fire alarm is indicated by two flashing red lamps marked FIRE and a continuously lit red lamp marked ALARMS / ZONE 1-4. The internal buzzer sounds and the alarm bells ring intermittently or continuously (as programmed). The acoustic alarm is stopped by pressing ALARM SILENCE. The area covered by the zone in alarm must be inspected to find out which detector is activated and to determine the cause of the alarm. The panel and detectors are reset by pressing PANEL RESET.
Lamp test When the panel is in normal operation, press the button LAMP TEST. All LEDs on the panel front are lit.
Fault alarm Fault alarm is indicated by one flashing yellow lamp marked FAULT and one or several flashing yellow lamps in the field FAULTS or FAULTS/DISCONNECTIONS. The internal buzzer sounds. The acoustic alarm is stopped by pressing ALARM SILENCE. Faults must be corrected immediately. See section Fault Finding later in the instruction manual. If necessary, contact the local electrician or the manufacturer. When the fault is corrected, the panel is reset by pressing PANEL RESET.
Page 5
Mains fault Mains fault is indicated if the mains supply to the panel is interrupted, or if the mains fuse is broken.
Battery fault Battery fault is indicated if the battery capacity is low, if the battery is almost discharged, if the battery fuse is broken or if the battery connections are interrupted.
Earth fault Earth fault is indicated if the insulation of the external equipment or inside the panel is faulty.
Zone fault Loop fault is indicated if the loop wires are interrupted or broken or if a detector head is removed from a base.
Alarm outlets fault Alarm outlet fault is indicated if the alarm outlet wires are broken or short circuited, or if a fuse is broken. Alarm outlets 1 and 2 are separately monitored.
Control outlet fault Control outlet fault is indicated if the door magnet outlet fuse is broken.
General alarm circuit fault General alarm circuit fault is indicated if the loop wire for the General alarm push button is interrupted or broken.
System fault System fault is indicated if a serious failure occurs in the panel. The panel may be incapable of detecting and indicating a fire alarm. Contact local representative or the manufacturer immediately.
General alarm The panel has a separate input for a General Alarm push button. The alarm bells ring with seven short and one long pulse (or as programmed). No other outlets or LEDs are activated. General alarm function can NOT be disconnected. This inlet also offers the possibility for ‘muting’ the alarm signals (see ‘General detector/loop connections).
Disconnections In some cases it may be necessary to disconnect parts of the system; for example during activity which produces a lot of heat or smoke. It is possible to disconnect parts of the system by using the numeric keyboard. A disconnected function is indicated by a continuously lit lamp markedDISCONNECTIONS and a continuously lamp for the actual function. The following options are available:
Fire zone 1 - 4 Press the key Z1, Z2, Z3 or Z4 Z4 (keys 1,2,3 or 4 on the numeric keyboard) and confirm by pressing ENTER. A disconnected zone will not be activated by a fire alarm, unless the source of the alarm is a manual callpoint. Repeat the operation to reconnect the zone.
Alarm outlet 1 - 2 Press the key AL (key 7 on the numeric keyboard) and confirm by pressing ENTER. The alarm outlets will not be activated by a fire alarm. Repeat Repeat the operation to reconnect the outlets.
Control outlets Press the key CON (key 8 on the n umeric keyboard) and confirm by pressing ENTER. The door hold outlet will not be deactivated by a fire alarm (fire doors remain open). The fault relay will not be activated by a fault alarm. Repeat the operation to reconnect the outlets.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Main panel ServoFighter C4 Fire alarm panel is delivered as a standard compact panel with operator panel and connection cabinet mounted together. The compact panel is mounted in a painted steel cabinet with a die-cast aluminium front frame, a steel reinforced silk printed front plate which gives textual explanations for all LEDs and keys. The main circuit board inside the panel contains the microcontroller, relays, all fuses for supplies and outlets and the terminals for all external cables. The panel also contains a charging rectifier 230 VAC / 27.0 VDC – 0.8A and built-in batteries 24V – 5Ah. The panel has 4 conventional loops for end-of-line resistors. Each loop can be programmed to operate with standard detectors, Exi detectors/zener barrier or a combination of standard and Exi detectors/zener barrier. The number of detectors on each loop are limited according to the maximum current draw and authority rules. Modifications of the standard panel is possible by assembling a KIT. One KIT for Recessed frame and one for Distributed mounting are available. The panel may be supplied with an additional operator panel or a remote panel, connected to the connection cabinet through a four wire cable. The remote panel is identical to the operator panel, but it can only display the alarms/faults and silence the internal buzzer.

DESCRIPTION
TOP VIEW
SIDE VIEW
The SSD 531 detects at an early stage smouldering fires and open fires with smoke developement. Light transmitter and light receiver are arranged in the sampling chamber so that the light beam from the transmitter cannot strike the receiver directly. Only the light scattered by suspended particles reaches the receiver and is converted into an electrical signal. The most important features are : * Digital signal processing * Self-check with active fault display condition (LED flashes 1 Hz) * Alarm filter with dynamic limitations for reducing false alarms. * Alarm threshold follow-up with endof range message (LED flashes 1 Hz)

COMMISSIONING Start the system During the installation of the system both power supplies (mains and battery) must be disconnected. When all cables for the fire alarm system is connected to the main panel, the system can be started by following the Functional test procedure (fuses location on terminal terminal board, see Connection cabinet lay out) : - remove the mains fuse (M) from the fuse holder on the main board - connect mains 230 VAC to the terminal inlets (28/29) - measure mains voltage and battery voltage on the terminal inlets - insert the mains fuse (M) - locate the battery fuse in the zip bag and insert it into the battery fuse holder (B) The panel should now be in normal operation and o nly the green LED POWER should be lit.
Functional test To ensure that the fire alarm system operates correctly, a complete test should be carried out when the panel/system is started for for the first time. NOTE! The panel outputs may may have been specially programmed. programmed. Verify correct operation according according to programmed parameters. parameters. - Press the button LAMP TEST. All LEDs on the front panel are lit - Check all detectors on all loops. Smoke detectors are tested by a test gas delivered by Servoteknikk. Heat detectors are tested by a hair drier and the manual call points are tested by a test key (supplied). If a bilge detector is connected to loop 4, the detector is tested by pressing and holding the test push button for minimum 1 minute. NOTE! A fault fault condition in a smoke or heat detector is shown with with a flashing indicator lamp, smoke detector with 1 Hz and heat detector with 0.2 Hz. For each test, check the following functions : The lamp FIRE on the front panel flashes, the lamps for Zone 1-4 are lit and the internal buzzer sounds. The indicator lamp on the activated detector illuminates. All alarm bells operate correctly (as programmed) and with sufficient sound level. All fire doors close during fire alarm (as programmed). External equipment (i.e. ventilation) connected to the control outlet operates correctly (as programmed). The acoustic alarm is cancelled by pressing the key ALARM SILENCE. By pressing the key PANEL RESET, the panel returns to normal operation. The panel is now in normal operation and only the lamp POWER is lit.
Page 46
Yearly testing and servicing The complete fire alarm system (panel, detectors, alarm bells/sirens and control functions) should be tested at least once a year by approved personnel. The test is performed as follows :
- Press LAMP TEST. TEST. Check that all lamps on the front panel are lit. - Press all keys on the front panel, one by one, and check that a short beep i s heard for each key. - Check that all alarm bells operate correctly by activating a manual call point. - Check all detectors visually for faults. Each detector has a self check system for fault condition which is indicated by a flashing lamp on the detector (SSD521 with 1 Hz and UTD521 with 0.2 Hz). All manual call points and detectors in each zone must be inspected. - Activate at least one detector or manual call point on each zone/loop. Check that all control functions operate correctly. - Check the fault warning by removing one detector head from its base for each zone. - Check the charging voltage for the batteries on outlet 15 and 16 on th e main board terminal (Door magnet outlet). The charging voltage should be in the range 26.6 – 27.6 Volts by 20 – 25 degrees Celsius (the charging voltage is temperature controlled and must not be adjusted as long as it is within this range !). - The batteries must be replaced every four years. See description in section ‘ Change batteries’. - The test is complete. Only POWER is lit. If a non-repairable fault is detected, please contact Servoteknikk for qualified service.
Maintenance It is important that the system is always fully in order. This can be ensured by careful maintenance and regular tests. The following operations should be carried out by a p erson who is appointed and trained to be responsible for the system : A.
Panel Ensure that the fire alarm panel is undamaged and kept clean. Make sure that the panel always is easily accessible.
B.
Detectors Accumulating dust and paint in smoke smoke detectors may cause false alarms. If a detector is faulty, faulty, the LED on the smoke detector SSD 521 flashes with 1 Hz and the heat detector UTD 521 flashes with 0,2 Hz. Therefore, check the detectors at regular intervals and replace them with new as required. Replace malfunctioning detectors as soon as possible. Make sure that furnishing, storing etc. have not reduced the open space under the detectors to less than 0.5 meters. If a bilge detector is connected to zone 4, check the movable parts of the detector and the connection box for corrosion of terminals.
C.
Manual Call Points Ensure that manual call points are not painted over, damaged or dusty. Check the glass covers of all manual call points. Replace broken or removed glass covers immediately. Make sure that all callpoints are visible and easily accessible.
D.
Alarm Units Ensure that all alarm bells, sirenes, and alarm lights are undamaged and clean. Test them regularly.
E.
Functions test All components must always be in order for the functions test commences. Refer to the section ‘COMMISSIONING ‘COMMISSIONING:: Functional test-Panel/System’. test-Panel/System’.
