Test 1 Life Sciences – 325 words
(Medical Devices)
1.2 Description The Cervix xxx Applicator is for gynecologic Brachytherapy of cervix, vagina and endometrium. The applicator uses an intrauterine tube and two ovoid tubes. The tubes guide the radioactive source of the afterloader to the place where treatment is to be applied. Transfer tubes are used to connect the applicator to the afterloader. There are three different Cervix xxx Applicator Sets. The typical Cervix xxx Applicator consists of: Right ovoid tube I (Ø 3 mm with 3 different angles: 15°, 30° and 45°) Left ovoid tube III (Ø 3 mm with 3 different angles: 15°, 30° and 45°) Ovoid pairs (3 different sizes) Intrauterine tubes IIIII (Ø 3 mm, 4 different tip sizes with 3 different angles: 0, 30, 50 and 70 mm respectively 15°, 30° and 45°) Ovoid tube coupling for ovoids only (3 different angles: 15°, 30° and 45°) Optional Intrauterine tubes IIIII (Ø 3 mm, 3 different tip sizes with 3 different angles: 20, 40 and 60 mm respectively 15°, 30° and 45°) WARNING The Cervix xxx Applicator Set is not intended to be used in a MRI device, and is not tested as such for MR-conditional aspects. You must test and validate the behavior of the applicator in MR-fields if use of the applicator in an MRI device is required. 1.3 Distance to Most Distal Dwell Position This section gives information about how to determine the distance to the most distal dwell position for the xxx afterloader using the X-ray imaging procedure. Dwell position: A position within an applicator where the source is intended to reside for a length of time. For any channel used in the treatment, the most distal dwell position is the furthest out (from the selector face plate) dwell position that is programmed to be used in the channel. Use the 300 mm GYN X-ray marker set to determine the distance to the most distal dwell position for the ovoid and intrauterine tubes of the applicator.

Test 2 Life Sciences – 296 words
(Medical Procedures)
In order to assess the impact of the restrictions introduced in the product information, namely the restriction to patients with severe osteoporosis and patients without the contraindications (current or previous venous thromboembolic events (VTE), including deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism; temporary or permanent immobilisation due to e.g. post-surgical recovery or prolonged bed rest; established, current or past history of ischaemic heart disease, peripheral arterial disease and/or cerebrovascular disease, or uncontrolled hypertension), post-hoc subgroup analyses of the existing clinical trial data were performed. An Ad-Hoc expert group composed of experts from different areas including osteoporosis, cardiology, epidemiology and general practice was convened to provide advice to the PRAC. In view of the data provided and other treatment alternatives available, some experts, in particular the experts in osteoporosis were of the opinion that a patient population could benefit from the product. However, the experts considered that, if available, strontium ranelate should only be prescribed as second line treatment in patients with severe osteoporosis as defined by the WHO, and who do not tolerate other alternative treatments. Experts also specified that strontium ranelate should be used only in severe osteoporosis with significant fragility fracture such as hip and not “trivial” ones such as metacarpal (which was given as an example). The Committee reviewed all data available on the safety and efficacy of strontium ranelate, including retrospective subgroup analyses on the postmenopausal women clinical trial dataset to consider the impact of the restrictions recently introduced on the safety of patients and on the effect size observed. Three epidemiological studies (DSRU, CLE-12911-021, CPRD study) performed in observational settings with different design and methodologies were taken into account by the CHMP in the current risk evaluation. The studies were well conducted, fairly large and had a reasonable length of follow up.

Test 3 Electronics – 340 words
(Semiconductors)
The H854/65 is a single-chip microcontroller, which is available in low cost packages, and is designed around a high performance processor architecture that executes instructions in two to four clocks, six times the rate of standard 80C51 devices. In order to reduce component count, board space, and system cost, many system-level functions have been incorporated into the device. Features - Input multiplexed 8-bit ADC/single DAC output. Two analog comparators with selectable inputs and reference source. - A 23-bit system timer that may also be used as real-time clock comprised of a 7-bit prescaler and a programmable and readable 16-bit timer. - Two 16-bit counter/timers. Timer 0 (and Timer 1 - P89LPC9171) may be configured to toggle a port output upon timer overflow or to become a PWM output. - Enhanced UART with a fractional baud rate generator, break detect, framing error detection, and automatic address detection; 400 kHz byte-wide I2C-bus communication port. - SPI communication port (P89LPC9161). - 2.4 V to 3.6 V VDD operating range. I/O pins are 5 V tolerant (may be pulled up or driven to 5.5 V). - Enhanced low voltage (brownout) detect allows a controlled system shutdown when power fails. - 16-pin TSSOP with 12 I/O pins minimum and up to 14 I/O pins while using on-chip oscillator and reset options (P89LPC9161/9171), and 14-pin TSSOP packages with 10 I/O pins minimum and up to 12 I/O pins while using onchip oscillator and reset options (P89LPC9151). Additional features - A high performance 80C51 CPU provides instruction cycle times of 111 ns to 222 ns for all instructions except multiply and divide when executing at 18 MHz. This is six times the performance of the standard 80C51 running at the same clock frequency. A lower clock frequency for the same performance means power savings and reduced EMI. - In-Application Programming (IAP-Lite) and byte erase allows code memory to be used for non-volatile data storage. - Serial flash In-Circuit Programming (ICP) allows simple production coding using commercial EPROM programmers. Flash security bits prevent reading of sensitive application programs.

ANSWER 3
What is a Translation Memory?
A set of language rules and patterns that is used in machine translation systems.
A terminology database containing translated words or terms.
A database containing previously translated sentences for reuse.
In the editing interface of a CAT tool the source document is divided into...
phrases
segments
terms
What is a fuzzy match?
A segment in a document that is identical to a segment stored in a TM, but that occurs in a different context.
A segment that is repeated within a document.
A segment in a document that is similar to another one that was translated in the past and that is stored in a TM.
What does AutoPropagation mean?
Auto-Propagation is repetition within an individual file.
Auto-Propagation is a partial match found in the Translation Memory.
Auto-Propagation is the capability of a CAT tool to suggest pre-translated phrases to the user.
Which of the following statements is correct?
A concordance search is always carried out on the whole segment.
With a concordance search, you can look up a string selected from a source or target segment.
Concordance searches are carried out in the termbase and in the TM simultaneously.
What happens to confirmed segments?
Confirmed segments are not shown in the Termbase results.
Confirmed segments are excluded from the QA Check.
Confirmed segments are saved in the Translation Memory.
What does it mean to lock a segment?
Locked segments are entries in a termbase that have been hidden from the user.
Locked segments are segments in a translation file that cannot be edited unless the user deliberately unlocks them.
Locked segments are translation units in a Translation Memory to which access has been restricted.
Which of the following statements is correct?
You can delete either the opening or closing tag of a tag pair.
If you want to remove paired tags from your target segment, you need to delete them both.
The closing tag of a tag pair can be positioned before its opening counterpart.
Why would you run a QA Check?
To verify that the translation files can be reintegrated into the original format without problems.
To analyse your translation files against the TM and verify that the project manager has raised the P.O. for the correct word count.
To automatically check your translations for inconsistent use of terminology, grammatical errors, inconsistent translations, punctuation and formatting issues.
When would you create an alignment?
If you have previously translated material available, an alignment allows you to create a Translation Memory from the translations.
You create an alignment in order to merge the content of multiple TMs into one Translation Memory.
An alignment allows you to use multiple termbases during translation.
