Back Stitch A stitch made by inserting the needle at the midpoint of a preceding stitch so that the stitches overlap by half lengths on the back of the fabric and appear continuo us on the front.
Running Stitch A simple needlework stitch consisting of a line of small even stitches that run in and out through the cloth without overlapping.
Bullion Stitch A decorative stitch in embroidery made by winding the thread several times around the needle before sewing a backstitch. Similar to the French knot forming very short bars.
