INSPECTION OF RUST GRADE VISUAL ASSESSMENT Reference Standard : ISO 8501-1 : 1988 EQUIPMENT / TOOLS : Book of ISO 8501-1 :1988 PREPARATION AND SET-UP : Clean up the surface from sand or oil before perform visual inspection (Bersihkan permukaan plat dari tanah atau minyak sebelum melakukan visual inspection ) Procedure : 1. Make sure the lighting is very bright as the day when making a visual inspection to determine rust grade surface plate because the inspection is doing with normal vision. pastikan pencahayaan sangat terang seperti di siang hari saat melakukan inspeksi visual dalam menentukan rust grade permukaan plat karena inspeksi dilakukan dengan mata normal. 2. Put book of ISO 8501-1 : 1988 that contain kind of photos rust grade on surface of metal plate that will be inspected the rust grade, than do comparision where is kind of rust grade photos are same or nearest with the actual metal plate and could be determined that is the metal plate rust grade inpection result. Letakkan buku ISO 8501-1 :1988 yang berisi photo jenis-jenis rust grade pada permukaan besi plat yang hendak diispeksi rust grade-nya, kemudian lakukan perbandingan manakah dari jenis-jenis photo rust grade yang sama atau yang sangat mendekati kondisinya dengan kondisi aktual besi plat dan itulah hasil dari inspeksi rust grade besi plat tersebut.

B Steel surface which has begun to rust and from which the mill scale has begun to flake. C Steel surface on which the mill scale has rusted away or from which it can be scraped, but with little .pitting visible to the naked eye . D Steel surface on which the mill scale has rusted away and on which considerable pitting is visible to the naked eye.
