The Cross of Life and the Nodes The Cross of Life
In 1992, when I first began to teach Human Design professionall, long before there were all the !arious snthetic tools that ha!e been de!eloped o!er the ears in order to ma"e analsis something that is easier for anone to be able to do and to be able to grasp, I began with the simplest construct I had that I had been gi!en in m e#perience$ That construct had a name$ It was something that I taught anone who wanted to go beond ha!ing a reading$ It was called The Cross of Life$ %nd this is not to be confused with Incarnation Cross$ It was &ust a term$ %nd it was a term that was something that was directl connected to the wa in which I was instructed to see the wa in which life itself operates, and to begin to understand the deep, deep nature of what it is to be in a dualistic en!ironment, to be in a binar !ehicle, to be in a life that is dominated b b the maia ‟s binar construct of 'this( and 'that$(
The Vertical: The Sun/Earth
There are se!eral things that are interesting$ The first thing I ‟d li"e ou to thin" about is that this cross is based on a "ind of !ertical and a "ind of hori)ontal$ The !ertical of this cross is the *un+arth binar, the *un+arth polarit$ polarit$ If ou loo" at all the calculations calculations in the the ra!e chart ou will see that there there are onl two two calculations calculations that are automaticall automaticall repeated and are opposites of each other$ In other words, the *un+arth is alwas e#actl opposite each other in the wheel, and the North Node Node and the *outh *outh Node are e#actl opposite each each other in the wheel wheel The ha!e a !er, !er uni-ue relationship with each other$ %s a matter of fact, the wa in which the Nodes are calculated, the represent e#tremes on the elliptic of the .oon in its relationship to the orbit of the arth around the *un$ It is the intersecting of these two lines of geometr that lead to the North Node and the *outh Node e#isting as points that we can calculate$ There is this profound relationship between these two binaries$ %nd within the conte#t of m metaphor, the *un+arth represents the !ertical binar, the !ertical arm of this Cross of Life$
Now, what ma"es the *un+arth so significant is that it represents /0 of our programming$ That is, /0 of the densit of the neutrino ocean that we li!e in is generated millisecondb millisecond as a bproduct of the life and the fusion that ta"es place within the *un$ *o /0 of our programming, /0 of what we are, the !er nature of what we call 'purpose,( 'purpose,( is rooted directl directl in this programming programming of the *un to its its mirror, to its its opposition, the the arth$
The Horizontal: The Nodes
Now, intersecting that line of geometr, intersecting that !ertical consciousness stream is the hori)ontal mo!ement, this hori)ontal elliptic of the Nodes3 the *outh Node and the North Node$ Now, there is something !er specific$ 4irst of all, these are real binaries in the sense that the are !er different from each other$ That is, the *un and the arth are phsical ob&ects that are e#actl opposite each other$ %nd the *outh Node and the North Node are non phsicall ob&ects5 these are positions that are e#actl opposite each other$
The *un and the arth mo!e countercloc"wise through the wheel$ %nd in mo!ing countercloc"wise countercloc"wise through the wheel, the represent represent the e#istential e#istential imprinting of life momentbmoment momentbmoment in the now, this imprinting$ The The Nodes, as a position opposition, mo!e cloc"wise in the wheel$ It is onl the Nodes that are directl connected to the precession of the e-uino# and are connected to the larger ccles themsel!es$
The Nodes and the Eastern Tradition 6here the *un+arth *un+arth binar is is directl connected connected to our 6estern 6estern tradition, tradition, the *outh Node+North Node+North Node Node binar is
directl connected to astern tradition$ %gain, we ha!e this classic e#ample in this Cross of Life of the intersection of these two themes together$
In the astern tradition, the *outh Node and the North Node ha!e had a number of names7 The head of the dragon 8North Node, the tail of the dragon 8*outh Node$ :ut also, interestingl interestingl enough is, at least in terms of m own name, the ;ahu as the North Node and the
Characteristics In this life process, in terms of the wa in which we operate in analsis, we ‟re loo"ing at a number of things in Design$ :asicall, the life is lost in what we call =characteristics$ ‟ The goal in life is to transcend characteristics characteristics and to find one‟s true role$ Now, characteristics are the domain of the :odgraph$ In other words, when ou loo" at our design, ou‟re loo"ing at our characteristics, that is, our differentiated characteristics$
The whole challenge for ou in our process, the onl wa in which ou can lea!e or transcend the :odgraph and approach our purpose correctl, is ou ha!e to deal with the characteristics$ The whole theme of, and the teaching of, Human Design is that we teach strateg and authorit in order for a being to come to grips with the power of characteristics in their life, and to ultimatel be able to transcend them b operating correctl as themsel!es$
The reward for transcending our characteristics is that ou find our role$ >ne of m fa!orite analogies or metaphors is that I li"e to use the concept of the mo!ie$ If ou?re loo"ing at characteristics, what ou?re reall seeing are those beings who are are in the frame of an scene, but but ha!e no part$ part$ In other words, words, the are are simpl characteristics$ characteristics$ The ma be loud or slow, slow, the ma ma be this or that, the ma ma be characteristics characteristics but the don?t actuall actuall ha!e a role$ role$ These are the the "ind of people who ne!er sa anthing in a scene5 the ‟re simpl in the bac"ground$
:ut the moment ou ha!e, within the conte#t of this metaphor of the mo!ie, somebod who is more than characteristics, in other words the are gi!en a role5 it?s onl when ou ha!e a role that purpose is possible$ 6hen ou loo" at an frame of an film, when ou loo" at the bac"ground characters, characters, ou cannot imagine what their purpose is$ @ou can?t imagine imagine their purpose purpose because all ou?re getting is characteristics5 ou ou ‟re not getting their role$ %nd it is onl through role that purpose can be achie!ed$
Purpose and Role 6ithin the conte#t conte#t of Design our our purpose is found found through the *un+arth binar$ There lies our Arofile$ Arofile$ %nd of course, in this Arofile lies the potential for ou to be able to fulfill that purpose because this gi!es ou our true role in life$ This gi!es ou the archetpe, or the generic, of what our role is and then ou, as a uni-ue differentiated being operating correctl, can fulfill that role$
:ut the Nodes ha!e a special function$ The function of the Nodes las the dnamic for how ou?re going to mo!e from characteristic to role because the set the stage$ %nd in setting the stage, literall, the pro!ide the bac"ground, the en!ironment in which ou emerge from our characteristics into our role$
The Cross of Life3to fulfill our purpose5 but, the fulfillment of our purpose is done on a specific stage through specific continuit of scenes$ It is this setting of the stage that the Nodes bring$
directl connected to astern tradition$ %gain, we ha!e this classic e#ample in this Cross of Life of the intersection of these two themes together$

The Nodes Set the Stage
The Nodes of the .oon are the bac"ground$ The set the stage$ Not onl do the set the stage in the sense that the pro!ide the scener, but more than that, the pro!ide the scener and the forces that are going to populate that scener$ The pro!ide the bac"ground characteristics$ The pro!ide the forces within the conte#t of the en!ironment ou are going to meet in our our process$ To reall understand our Nodes is to recogni)e the world ou are intended to deal with, the en!ironment ou are intended to deal with, the "ind of people who are meant to be there in the bac"ground of our life, and the "ind of forces that are there to pro!ide ou with e#actl the right connections, the right interaction, the right education, and the right whate!er because the belong in our scene$
Thin" about what it means that ou ha!e an opportunit to fulfill our purpose$ :ut the potential to fulfill our purpose has to be seen against the bac"ground because because itBs in that bac"ground, itBs in that en!ironment, that our purpose has to be achie!ed$ %nd the moment ouBre loo"ing at the Nodes, as ou will see as we go through this ad!enture of loo"ing at the 2 polarities in the wheel and loo"ing at the 2 Nodal en!ironments that emerge, is to begin to see that that the potential potential for anone to to fulfill their purpose purpose is directl related to the the en!ironment in which it is intended to be fulfilled$ This is The Cross of Life$ There is no wa to fulfill the potential of one without fulfilling the potential of the other because the are deepl connected to each other$
In the !er beginning when I began m process, there was this deep understanding of this Cross$ The deep understanding that this was the s"eleton of anone ‟s life$ @ou could see the basic essence of what the were intended to li!e out as a purpose$ @ou could see that purpose in their Incarnation Cross, ou could see that purpose in their Arofile, and ou could see the potential of it in terms of its consistenc, or not, in the wa in which that Cross operated within the dnamics dnamics of the characteristics characteristics of the the :odgraph$ :ut :ut more than that, b understandin understanding g the Nodes, b understanding understand ing this scene that is being set, the stage upon which this purpose can be fulfilled, ou could immediatel hone in directl to the essence of what this life was intended to be about, and who was supposed to be there in this life$
4or me, it is ironic that after all of these ears of teaching that I am at the beginning of a new 1 ear ccle in the process of being a messenger for this "nowledge$ %t the beginning of this new ccle, I return to the most fundamental teaching that I brought at the !er beginning of m career$ ItBs not, in an sense, a going bac"wards$ I can see so clearl how this is the beginning in a spiral$ ItBs a new beginning because toda with the depth we ha!e in the "nowledge of Human Design, with the deeper understanding that e#ists in the mechanics and the abilit through snthesis to be able to e#plain to others their basic strateg, the secret and the accessibilit of their inner authorit, that now to return to this !er basic concept is to come to the simple core of understanding our li!es and our purpose$
The EFth and 2Gth Nodes The 4th !ate: "aterialis#
This is a Nodal en!ironment that is deepl tribal$ That is, ouBre dealing with two tribal gates7 the 2Gth gate, The Taming Aower of the reat out of the Heart Center, and the EFth gate, athering Together, out of the Throat Center, the !oice, the e#pression of the tribe, the gate of the "ing, the -ueen, the pasha$ 6hen weBre dealing with the EFth gate as a Nodal en!ironment, this is the naturall and generall beneficial attraction of li"e forces$
>ne of the most interesting things about this en!ironment is how possessi!e this en!ironment is$ The EFth gate is the !oice that sas, sas, 'I ha!e,( or 'I donBt ha!e$( ha!e$( This is a Nodal Nodal en!ironment en!ironment where that is the !oice of the people$ people$ The !oice of the people are the ones who are shouting, 'I ha!e,( but most of the people are shouting, 'I donBt ha!e$( ItBs7 The natural and generall beneficial attraction attraction of li"e forces$ 6ell, es itBs beneficial, but it doesnBt mean that that is what the en!ironment is, that the en!ironment in fact is an en!ironment wor"ing on the possibilit that the attraction of li"e forces can be generall and mutuall and naturall beneficial$
*o, when ouBre dealing with the EF as a Nodal en!ironment, this is the gate of the gatherer$ This is all about the mone line$ ItBs all about materialism$ *o ou ha!e a !er, !er material en!ironment$ en!ironment$ %nd in that material en!ironment there are the ha!es and the ha!enots$ >ne of the things to recogni)e is that itBs alwas the ha!enots that are alwas see"ing the natural and generall beneficial union that ultimatel can transform their material place$ :ut again, if ou ha!e the EF as a Node, then ou ha!e to see that ouBre going to be dealing with a material en!ironment$ The materialism is going to be a theme that is there and particularl the whole -uestion of who possesses what, and the tensions in terms of that en!ironment o!er the basic materials necessar in life$
The $%th !ate: &ggressi'eness
The other side of the polarit is the 2Gth gate, The Taming Aower of the reat, the gate of the egoist$ This is7 The ma#imi)ation of the power of memor applied to the nurturing of continuit$ Now, one of the things about this ma#imi)ation of the power of memor is that it is an en!ironment where there is a great deal of potential aggressi!eness, and potential potential aggressi!eness in the sense of tring to shape the wa in which the communit operates$
The wa in which a communit is shaped can be shaped in a number of was$ 4or e#ample, the 2Gth gate can bring a great deal of propaganda, salesmanship, that "ind of influencing transmission transmission to impact the wa in which the communit thin"s about itself, or thin"s about the things that it needs$ %nd remember, in this polarit we ha!e materialism as one of the deepest themes$
The other thing is to be !er clear about the 2Gth gate and its role as a defender in the immune sstem$ That is, the 2Gth gate is related to the thmus gland that designs our immune sstem in the first ears of our li!es, and it is also the T cell$ The T cells are literall the soldiers of the immune sstem that go out and protect us against those in!ading bacteria and !iruses and so forth$
ItBs !er important to see that an en!ironment that has the 2Gth gate also has an en!ironment that has the potential of !iolence, the potential potential of phsical phsical coercion$ %nd here is the potential potential of coming into into a Nodal en!ironment that that can be !er aggressi!e, that that can be filled filled with a great great deal of lac" lac" of !alue$ ;emember that the ego, the Heart Heart Center, the ma&orit of humanit has this center open$ It means that the ma&orit of humanit suffers from the notself strateg of
the open Heart Center which is not seeing themsel!es as being worth$ The alwas ha!e to pro!e themsel!es, not ha!ing in their li!es consistent will power$ *o those themes are themes that ou can appl to the en!ironment$
;emember that itBs so important to reali)e the difference between Arofile and Nodes$ Not &ust Arofile and Nodes, but to recogni)e that the Nodes are different from an other acti!ations in the chart$ %ll the acti!ations in the chart, with the e#ception of the Nodes, come from phsical ob&ects that are phsicall interfering with the neutrino stream and changing the information$ The thing to recogni)e about the Nodes is that the are positional$ *o when ouBre loo"ing at our Nodal en!ironment, ouBre not loo"ing at a phsical imprint of ou$ @ouBre loo"ing at our connection to a larger imprint, the imprint of an en!ironment$
ItBs not e!en that, itBs not to sa that in our en!ironment there is e#clusi!el onl the 2G+EF$ 6hat itBs saing is, thatBs what ouBre going going to be attuned attuned to in the en!ironment around ou$ ou$ @ou are going going to be attuned attuned to the ones ones who ha!e or ha!e not$ @ouBre going to be attuned to the ones who tr to coerce or change the wa in which the communit sees itself$ :ut who ou are and the potential of who ou are is fulfilled within that en!ironment$
The Fth and Fth Nodes The (th !ate: Need for )nteraction
6hen weBre dealing with the Fth gate we ha!e the gate of Arogress$ %nd the gate of Arogress is a "e element of the human e#periential wa$ It is, after all, the gate of change and is part of the channel of transitoriness$ 6hen we loo" at the Fth gate what weBre loo"ing at is7 : design, progress cannot e#ist in a !acuum and is dependent on interaction$ Thin" about this within the Nodal conte#t$ ;emember that the Nodes represent a stage upon which the life is li!ed out$ That is, the indi!idual life is li!ed out with the potential of fulfilling the purpose through that5 that is, li!ing out oneBs Arofile$
:ut what that means is that all around ou is going to be this fre-uenc, the fre-uenc of the F$ %nd this is all about the need for interaction$ Not simpl a need, but a dependenc on interaction$ *o ouBre going to ha!e an en!ironment in which there is not enough interaction$ %s long as thereBs not enough interaction, then ou donBt ultimatel get to progress$ %nd itBs again one of the things to understand about the Nodal en!ironment, that the e#pression of that Nodal en!ironment through the gate, that what ouBre loo"ing at through that gate, is a potential that wor"s both was$
In other words, es there will be those who will progress because the ha!e the necessar interaction, but the en!ironment is going to be filled with man people that are loo"ing for interaction or are dependent on interaction because without it the will not find their progress$ Now of course, that doesnBt mean that if ouBre carring this Node, thatBs ou$ 6hat it means is that is a world in which ou ha!e the greatest potential to be able to fulfill what is our purpose in this life$
The th !ate: *aiting
Now when we go to the other side of the polarit to the Fth gate, we get to the gate of 6aiting$ :ut the Fth gate in the *acral Center has an e#traordinar importance in all of Design$ 6hen I sa all of Design I donBt mean simpl Human Design, but the Design of 4orms$ %ll forms carr the Fth gate or the potential of the Fth gate, that the 1F+F, the channel of being in the flow is a uni!ersal force$ *o when weBre dealing with the Fth gate, we are dealing with the inherent pattern of things$ 6hen ouBre loo"ing at this gate, the structure is the fundamental attunement to natural rhthms3waiting as an acti!e state of awareness$
Now of course, the fact is that if waiting is the acti!e state of awareness, then not waiting is going to be what the general en!ironment is going to loo" li"e$ In other words, there is going to be a bac"ground en!ironment through the F+F that can seem to be -uite chaotic, an en!ironment where no one is waiting, the classic e#ample of a generating theme tring to manifest that nobod is waiting$ >n the other side of that$ in the collecti!e process of the F, that there is not enough interaction, interaction that is absolutel necessar if progress is going to ta"e place$
*o here ou begin to see the world of that being that incarnates with this Nodal configuration is a world where people are not interacting, a world where people are not waiting, this is going to be the bac"ground of their life$ %nd at the same time there is going to be the potential in the purpose to recogni)e that -ualit of life and also to be able to be of !alue to others once one has fulfilled oneBs process of going beond our characteristics, honoring our strateg and authorit so that ou do get to a point where ou get to fulfill the purpose of our Arofile$
@our en!ironment is something that ouBre dependent on$ It is the perfect en!ironment$ *o, if ou come in with a F+F
and all around ou ou see that people arenBt waiting and people arenBt interacting, ouBre in the right place$ Now of course, if ouBre operating as notself ou can loo" at that right place and thin", '>h m od I donBt want to be here$ This is all wrong$ It shouldnBt be li"e this$ !erbod should be aware, and progress should be a natural part of our life process,( and so forth and so on$ :ut the fact is that if ou are operating correctl, itBs not so much that ou donBt see the potential in the en!ironment, the potential that awareness can bring, the potential that proper interaction can bring, but ouBre actuall using that en!ironment as a stepping board for the fulfillment of our own uni-ue purpose, whate!er that purpose ma be$
*o the Nodes are something !er, !er special in our li!es$ The reall do frame the en!ironment for our transformation as beings to an awa"ened state$
The 1Gth and 9th Nodes The +%th !ate: Search for Energ,
6hen weBre loo"ing at the 1Gth gate, we ha!e the gate of nthusiasm and this is the gate of s"ills$ It is part of the channel of talent, and it sas7 The great art of enriching life b the harmonic channeling of energ$ >ne of the things that is so fascinating about this introduction to this gate, if ou loo" !er carefull the 1Gth gate, which is part of the logical process, it suffers from the dilemma of logic$ %nd the dilemma of logic is that it is star!ed of energ$ ThatBs what weBre reall tal"ing about3the great art of enriching life b the harmonic channeling of energ$ %nd the 1Gth gate is alwas loo"ing for energ, endlessl loo"ing$
If ou loo" at the 1Gth gate and ou see it mo!e downwards, itBs mo!ing downwards towards the *pleen, towards the *plenic Center, and the *plenic Center is not a motor in the bod$ In other words, b accessing the *plenic Center it gains access to the potential of understanding$ That is, the potential of the awareness out of the splenic sstem, its logical awareness, its &udgmental awareness, but it still does not pro!ide it with energ$ It does not pro!ide it with the potential that can come from energ$ %nd ou can see this so much in terms of the nature of s"ills that a s"ill b its !er nature is something that in order for it to be trul s"illful it is the result of repetition and practice$ That it is onl after endless practice that a s"ill is finall honed, and that the !er practice of it is going to be determined b the a!ailabilit of energ$ *o when weBre loo"ing at the 1G as a Node, one of the things to understand is e!erbodBs loo"ing for energ$ 6hen I sa that, ou ha!e to recogni)e that energ is one of the binar principles$ %nd one of the things about the nature of energ, loo"ing for energ, is that basicall what ouBre loo"ing for is resources3the food that pro!ides ou with the energ to do whate!er, and the mone that gi!es ou the energ necessar to be able to do whate!er$
In other words, one of the themes of the Nodal 1G is a stage upon which the hunt is for the energ$ ThereBs all this potential floating around, all this potential s"illfulness$ :ut e!erone is caught up in the energ hunt$ ;emember, itBs the harmonic channeling of the energ$ ItBs not e!en &ust finding the energ, but itBs finding the right e nerg, the compatible energ$
The -th !ate: .ocus
6hen we go to the other side of the polarit to the 9th gate, the 9th gate is a format energ$ This is The Taming Aower of the *mall and itBs a gate of focus and itBs part of the Channel of Concentration$ It reall is the potential to be determined in oneBs focus and to be determined in the focus on detail$ Aotential can be fulfilled through detailed attention to all pertinent aspects$
*o, here we ha!e a !er interesting Nodal en!ironment, a Nodal en!ironment on the one hand through the 1G that there is this search for energ and resources, and on the other hand there is the acceptance that onl b culti!ating and wor"ing with the small in life, the little things in life is detail, is potential reall going to be something that is possible$
6hen ouBre dealing with the 9 and the 1G as an en!ironment, as a stage in life, ou ha!e to see that in man was this is a stage of a great deal of material struggle and difficult$ %nd that simpl means that that is part of the stage3the frustration of not being able to ha!e the energ to de!elop the s"ills$ The malaise of half of the planet is the fact that doing detail isnBt interesting or e#citing, but it is the onl potential, to "eep oneBs shoulder to the wheel, to go through all the little things in order to finall achie!e success$
%lso, when ouBre dealing with Nodal polarities "eep something in mind, that this would not be the description of the being that has this in their design$ It would be if it was their personalit *un+arth, if this was part of their Arofile$ :ut this is simpl stating that this is the en!ironment$ Now, how eas it is as notself to become our en!ironment$ In other words, to melt into this bac"ground and end up ourself hunting for energ and so forth and so on$
The fact of the matter is ou ma ha!e this Nodal polarit and be a high energ being with no problem in accessing energ$ *o, please understand, the Nodes alwas represent the en!ironment, and more importantl, the perfect en!ironment for ou when operating correctl to fulfill our potential and our purpose$
The 20th and Eth Nodes The $th !ate: &ction
6e ha!e alread been through one opposition that forms a definition and that was the E+2$ Now we are dealing with the second opposition in the wheel, and this is the channel 20+E, the Channel of Charisma$ In dealing with this Channel of Charisma, a design where thoughts must be deeds, we are dealing with the onl pure e#ample of what is a .anifesting enerator$ In other words, this is the pure .anifesting enerator, the direct connection, the onl direct connection that e#ists between the *acral and the Throat Center$
;emember that when weBre dealing with a Nodal en!ironment and the Nodal en!ironment is an opposition that forms a definition, ou cannot reall spea" uni-uel of one gate process or the other$ @ouBre dealing with the entire flow that is there in the channel$ The 20th gate is the gate of Contemplation$ It is the onl e#istentialist gate$ It is the gate of the now7 ;ecognition and awareness in the now which transforms understanding into right action$ *o one of the things to see about the en!ironment of this is that the en!ironment is alwas about action, and not necessaril whether the action is right or not, because after all, in order for the action to be right or not, recognition and awareness ha!e to be a part of it$
The (4th !ate: 0ri'e to Sur'i'e
If ou go to the other side to the Eth gate, weBre dealing with The Aower of the reat$ This is an e#traordinar gate because here in dealing with the 20+E weBre dealing with an aspect of what is called integration$ That is, a four channel sstem that reall is the genetic spine of what it is for us to be human$ It is the root of our capacit to sur!i!e in the world$ It is the basic dri!e to sur!i!e$ The Eth gate empowers that through its connection to the F/, the archetpe, its connection to the 10th gate, the gate of beha!ior in which ou ha!e the following of oneBs con!ictions, the power to follow oneBs con!ictions as an archetpe, and ultimatel to be able to do so, and to be able to do so, charismaticall$
In other words, the power of the E to the 20 to dri!e us to acti!it in the now, one of the great dilemmas of the .anifesting enerator is that its archetpe is this enormous pressure to be acti!e in the now$ The power of the E is onl great when its displa or use ser!es the common good$ Now itBs onl great, and the action is onl right, and itBs all about the same thing$ ItBs about awareness$ %wareness is the deepest "e to understanding this Nodal en!ironment$ In other words, if ou come into this life and ou come into a 20+E Nodal en!ironment, ou come into an en!ironment that lac"s awareness$ It is a world of action not guided$ It is a world of the displa of power, but not necessaril or e!en e!er to the benefit of the common good$ In other words, this can be a "ind of treadmill en!ironment that one goes into in which there is all of this frustrated attempt at action, and that the frustrated attempt at action leads to the frustrated displa of power, and all of that is coming out in the now and none of that is correct because there is not the recognition and awareness$
>ne of the most fascinating things about these first two oppositions that weB!e loo"ed at that form definition, that is the E+2 and the 20+E, is that the ha!e a !er uni-ue relationship to each other$ The 20+E is here to be guided$ ;emember that this is a *acral being$ This is a enerator$ %nd despite the potential that it has within it to manifest, to be able to do things, to be able to actuall ta"e right action, that right action can onl be a matter of response$ %nd itBs !er, !er difficult because this is so indi!idual and itBs indi!idual in the deepest sense$ It is integration+ indi!idual and itBs !er difficult to influence these forces because theBre not designed to be influenced$ ItBs e#ceedingl difficult to tell them what to do$
ItBs !er difficult to tell a 20+E to stop initiating$ :ut from a E+2 there is alwas the possibilit from the resonance in the circuitries, the resonance in the configuration$ That is, the are oppositions that form definition and the ha!e a deep relationship to each other$ The 20+E needs guidance, and the guidance is not control$ The guidance isnBt e!en direction$ The guidance is the abilit to present the 20+E with options that the can respond to$ %nd through that response, through operating correctl, the can fulfill their potential$
:ut remember, as a Nodal en!ironment ouBre coming into a Nodal en!ironment where there is incorrect action and incorrect displas of power, and itBs on that stage that ou ha!e to fulfill our purpose if this is our Nodal polarit$
The 2rd and Erd Nodes The $(rd !ate: Splitting &part
Here weBre dealing with the first o f the oppositions that lead to a definition in the :odgraph$ The E+2 is the Channel of *tructuring, and it is a design of indi!idualit from genius to frea"$ There is no wa that ou can differentiate Nodal oppositions that form definitions$ This is a !er, !er fi#ed, set stage$ It isnBt this mo!ement of one to the other$ It is, in fact, a continuum that is simpl there$ %nd itBs !er important to recogni)e this$
It also means that one enters into a life in which there is a !er fi#ed stage in life, that the en!ironment is one that is going to be deepl consistent$ Now, if ouBre not operating correctl that can be something that is !er uncomfortable and something ou tr to escape from o!er and o!er again$ %nd this is tring to escape ultimatel from ourself$
Esta1lishing a Ne2 3rder
The 2rd gate is *plitting %part, and itBs the amoralit, the awareness and understanding which leads to the acceptance of di!ersit$ 6hen we loo" at the E, in order for achie!ement to be maintained, a new order must be fairl established$ *o, a new order must be established that establishes what That establishes the inherent right of di!ersit$ This is the essence of the whole bac"ground fre-uenc5 this is a stage of the E+2$ This is a stage where uni-ueness is intended to be enshrined$
6hat ouBre going to see is all the attempts of tring to establish a new order$ This is the Channel of *tructuring, so one who has this as a Nodal configuration ends up in a world in which structuring is the underling theme, an underling theme that at its mundane le!el is about nothing more than anthing other than creating a higher le!el of efficienc in whate!er acti!it humans are in!ol!ed in$ This is !er much stepping into a constant struggle, a struggle that is there between conformit and di!ersit$ The whole pull of this is to mo!e awa from conformit and to establish a new order that fairl accepts within the structure all of di!ersit$
Now of course, this is not necessaril a stage that is welcomed in man places in ci!ili)ation at an gi!en time$ The realit of the notself and the openness of human beings to li!e b their notself rather than their true self leads to societies and ci!ili)ations that are cemented b homogeni)ation where e!erone is forced to be !er much the same in terms of the general themes of the wa in which we li!e$ That correctness is something that tends to be established b generali)ed moralistic forces, whether the are religious forces, religious institutions or go!ernmental institutions$
%nd here in this en!ironment is an en!ironment in which there is an ongoing attempt to reform the societies, reform the ci!ili)ations in order to enshrine the potential and the beaut of what di!ersit is$
No 0ifference *hich !ate )s in the South Node
6hether or not ou begin with a *outh Node 2 going to the E or the E going to the 2, it trul is not going to ma"e significant difference in terms of what the e n!ironment is going to be li"e in oneBs life$ %nd recogni)e that an en!ironment in which uni-ueness is intended to be honored within the structure, how important it is to see that isnBt the Arofile and it has nothing to do with the Arofile$ In fact, the being itself ma not feel comfortable in such an en!ironment, and et that is the !er en!ironment for them to fulfill what is their purpose$ If our purpose happens to be to be different in our own wa, that ou see that homogeni)ation is the correct thing for ou, and ob!iousl, there are those that are going to be imprinted in such a wa, that this is simpl an en!ironment that will act at that counterpoint for that potential of purpose$
ItBs so important not to confuse the Nodal polarities with the Arofile, and not to see them in that conte#t$ ;emember, e!erthing about operating correctl begins with our *trateg and our inner %uthorit$
The 2nd and 1st Nodes The $nd !ate: &ction
Here weB!e come to the !er heart of the preciseness of the mirror of o pposition$ 6e are dealing with the 1st he#agram, The Creati!e, which is the angest of he#agrams with si# ang lines, and opposite it, the 2nd gate, The ;ecepti!e, inest of he#agrams with si# in lines$ %nd here we ha!e the absolute mirror$ 6e ha!e this perfect mirror to each other$ TheBre at the !er core of the design, the core of the :odgraph$ That is, when ouBre loo"ing at the 1 and the 2, ouBre in the center$ These are two aspects in the right angle configuration that are aspects of the Cross of the *phin#, and this is all about direction in life$
6hen ouBre dealing with the 2nd gate and ouBre dealing with it within its Nodal configuration, this is recepti!it as the primal base through which an response is determined$ It is the root of action$ >ne of the things to see about the en!ironment is what the 2nd gate is going to bring$ The 2nd gate is going to bring an en!ironment of openness, recepti!it, and recepti!it to those things that lead to action$ In other words, this is an en!ironment in which the openness, whether that openness is intellectual or otherwise3openness to the times, openness to the en!ironment3it leads to action, because action is reall the theme$ 6hen ou see somebod with a 2nd gate Nodal configuration, ou "now right awa that in their en!ironment there is all this action that is re-uired$ In other words, itBs a stage thatBs set and a stage thatBs full of a great deal of acti!it$
The +st !ate: )nspiration
6hen ou go to the other side, when ou go to the angest of he#agrams, when ou go to the 1st gate, The Creati!e, this is creation as a primal force$ ItBs the energ potential to manifest inspiration without limitation$ *o, when ouBre dealing with the 1st gate Nodall, what ouBre dealing with is an en!ironment that can be and will be inspiring, an en!ironment that is inspired$ This is not something that stops in that sense5 it is a deepl rich en!ironment, an inspiring en!ironment$
6hat weBre loo"ing at in this particular configuration is action and inspiration as the "enotes of this Nodal configuration$ %nd whether ouBre mo!ing from the inspiration to the action or the action to the inspiration, it is so important to understand if ou are operating correctl, that is, if ouBre operating correctl through our *trateg and %uthorit, then ouBre going to be able to ta"e ad!antage of these en!ironments$ @ouBre going to be able to ta"e ad!antage of these en!ironments in order to be able to fulfill our purpose$
It is one of the "es in Human Design to recogni)e that the fulfillment of purpose operates through Arofile and that Arofile does not dominate in the life until one has dealt with oneBs characteristics$ In other words, until one is operating correctl through *trateg and %uthorit, there is no wa in which the Arofile can begin to dominate as a thematic for the life$ %nd the moment one does operate correctl, then one can full ta"e ad!antage of oneBs Nodal en!ironment$
It doesnBt mean necessaril that one is forced to ta"e action, nor does it mean necessaril that one is constantl being inspired$ 6hat it does mean is that to li!e oneBs life correctl and to fulfill oneBs purpose in life, that ou can onl do so in those en!ironments$ ItBs those en!ironments that nurture whate!er the potential is of our purpose in this life$ *o, an en!ironment of inspiration doesnBt necessaril lead to a being who is continuall inspired$ :ut that !er en!ironment of inspiration is the bedroc" upon which their purpose, whate!er their purpose happens to be, can be fulfilled$
It also doesnBt mean that the lac" that inspiration or that the lac" that recepti!it that leads to action$ :ut it is not treated in the same wa that ou would treat it as an acti!ation b one of the planets or the *un and the arth$ In other words, ou reall ha!e to see that this is an e#pression of the en!ironment$ %nd es, the en!ironments we operate in ob!iousl are going to ha!e impact on us$ To be in an inspiring en!ironment is ultimatel also something thatBs going to lead, e!en &ust through conditioning, to inspiration$
:ut the "e as alwas is to see that the Nodal stage is e#actl the right place for ou to fulfill our destin in this life$
The 2Eth and EEth Nodes The $4th !ate: Transfor#ation and Rene2al
This is actuall a fascinating stage within the Nodal conte#t$ 6hen ouBre dealing with the 2Eth gate, the ;eturn, ouBre dealing with a gate in the %&na Center$ ItBs a conceptuali)ing gate and it is going to ha!e a lot to do with an en!ironment of intellectualit$ It is the natural and spontaneous process of transformation and renewal$ %gain, this is not as one would see it through a Arofile, in the sense that this is something for the being itself, that theBre going to go through spontaneous transformation and renewal$ It means that the en!ironment is full of spontaneous transformation and renewal$ %nd it is within the conte#t of this en!ironment of this transformation and renewal that the !er purpose of oneBs life can be fulfilled$
The thing to understand about the Nodes is that the do pro!ide a signpost$ 6hen ou loo" all around ou with the 2E Nodes and ou see these spontaneous moments of transformation and renewal, ou "now ouBre in the right en!ironment$ %nd of course, this is essential to grasp$ ItBs not about saing, '>oh, this frightens me$ I donBt "now when itBs going to happen$( This is !er indi!idual$ This is something thatBs there and itBs not, and then suddenl itBs there$ If ouBre operating out of the notself and ouBre not operating out of our own %uthorit, this can all appear to be !er disturbing$ It can lead to a deep sense of melanchol if there is no transformation and renewal, if one does not e#perience transformation and renewal$
*o the "e to understanding the Nodal en!ironment is recogni)ing that this is where ou belong$ ItBs where ou should be$ ItBs whatBs supposed to be there all around ou in our life$ %nd if ou see it all around ou in our life and ouBre operating correctl as ourself, then ouBre on the right stage to reach the fulfillment of our purpose$
The 44th !ate: Surrender
>n the other side we ha!e the EEth gate, and the EEth gate is a gate of alertness$ ItBs in the *plenic *stem$ %gain, whene!er weBre dealing with a Node thatBs in the *pleen, weBre dealing with a Node that brings an en!ironment of fear$ This is a gate of alertness$ *o there is this fear and tension in the alertness thatBs going to e#ist in the en!ironment$ :ut itBs7 The success of an interaction is based on the absence of an preconditions$
Now thin" about that because itBs !er, !er significant$ If ou "now circuitr in Human Design and ou loo" at the tribe, ou will see that the parallel to the 2G+EE is the E0+/$ The E0th gate is out of the ego, li"e the 2Gth gate, going down to the emotional sstem rather than to the *pleen, to the /$ The E0+/, the Channel of Communit is all about the bargain$ :ut loo" on this side, to the EE and ou can see that the bargain isnBt what itBs all about$ ItBs not about a deal$ It isnBt$ It is about the fulfillment of ambition$ %nd there are to be no preconditions$
*o here is an en!ironment in which deals will not wor"$ If ouBre in this en!ironment and ouBre carring the EEth gate and ouBre busil in!ol!ing ourself in arrangements in which ou ha!e to ma"e a bargain in order to hope to get where ou want to get to, ouBre in absolutel the wrong place, because the right en!ironment for ou is an en!ironment without preconditions$ @ou can begin to see how conditioning can mo!e ou awa from the natural en!ironment ouBre intended to be in$
>ne of the things to recogni)e about the nature of conditioning is how eas it is for conditioning$ ;emember that the Nodes themsel!es are onl positions$ The are not ob&ects$ How eas it is for the Nodes to be confused, how eas it is for imprinting to influence the notself and mo!e it awa from being able to be in the right en!ironment and not see
that the lac" of preconditions is correct, instead of being conditioned to thin" that ou ha!e to ha!e preconditions in order for anthing to be a success$
*o here we ha!e a !er interesting stage, this polarit between the 2E and the EE$ %t the deepest area of this is the abilit to be able to see the positi!e of this en!ironment$ Transformation, renewal and success, theBre all there, but ou ha!e to be able to accept, surrender to, which is one of the inherent themes of the EE in its mo!ement towards the 2G, ou ha!e to surrender to our en!ironment$ %nd ou cannot do that with the mind$ @ou can onl do that mechanicall through correctness, through honoring our *trateg, following our inner %uthorit$
The rd and F0th Nodes The th !ate: Traditional Values
Here ou reall ha!e a !er e#traordinar "ind of bac"ground, because ou ha!e a transition between what is ultimatel deepl conser!ati!e, thatBs the F0th gate, and what is fundamentall indi!idual, frea" and mutati!e, and thatBs the rd gate$ *o, we ha!e !er different aspects of the wa in which this stage is going to operate$ ItBs particularl significant in the difference between whether one or the other gates is the *outh Node or the North Node$
LetBs ta"e a loo" at the F0th gate, The Cauldron$ This is the gate of preser!ation$ It is deepl tribal$ It is the root of our intelligence sstem and the !alue of historical continuit whose traditional !alues ser!es and enriches the present and the future$ *o, for e#ample, when ou are born with a *outh Node F0, then the stage upon which our life opens up on is a stage, in the en!ironment, that is full of beings with traditional !alues and a communit rooted in traditional !alues$ This "ind of communit, depending on where the communit is and what the traditional !alues happen to be, is !er much being caught into tribal continuit$ In other words, being caught up in a world in which the !alue sstems refuse to accept the challenge of the outside, the challenge of whate!er3modernit, secularism, whate!er it happens to be, depending on the -ualit of those traditional !alues$
;emember, this is not as if this is the Aersonalit and thus the Arofile and what the life is going to be about$ This is about the en!ironment upon which the potential of the purpose of the life can be fulfilled$ *o itBs essential for this being that comes into the world with this configuration to go through this phase of their life, whether itBs the first or second half of their life, where theBre dealing with the power of it in the en!ironment, the traditional tribal !alues$
The (rd !ate: Confusion
Now ob!iousl when we go to the other side, when we go to the polarit to the rd gate, we get to Difficult at the :eginning$ 6e get to a *acral gate that is part of the format energ of the indi!idual process$ ItBs a pulse$ There is both a deep uncertaint and a potential melanchol that is rooted in the rd gate, and this is the fundamental challenge of initiation to transcend confusion and establish order$
This will lead to two !er different "inds of life processes, whether ou are going from the to the F0 or the F0 to the $ If ou start our process with the F0 *outh Node, ou start with traditional !alues as our bac"ground, onl to disco!er that the traditional !alues for whate!er reason collapse, and in that collapse is the rising up of confusion, and out of that confusion, the need to establish a new order$ In other words, there is the brea"down of whate!er the continuit happens to be in the en!ironment, and then the resulting confusion and the attempt to establish a new order$
If ouBre coming the other wa3that is, if ou ha!e a *outh Node rd gate, mo!ing towards the F0th gate as our North Node, then ou end up starting our process with confusion all around$ In other words, confusion in the en!ironment, a lac" of clarit, a lac" of certaint, a great deal of discomfort in the en!ironment, because in a world of confusion it is !er difficult to operate in a successful wa$ There ou would ha!e in the earl part of the life this attempt to tr to establish some order out of the confusion$ *o thatBs the en!ironment$ !erbodBs tring to find a wa, and this would lead into the F0, and this would be a return to traditional !alues$ In other words, that order, the ordering of the confusion would end up being a return, almost a retrograde phenomena of returning to traditional
!alues as the thing that is going to secure oneBs future$
@ou can see that in the rise of fundamentalism in middleaged beings on this planet$ If ouBre carring this "ind of configuration, it is a natural thing to re&ect the confusion as an e#ample of modern societ to return to the secure traditional !alues that were established triball$
*o this is a !er interesting en!ironment to wor" with$ %gain, remember that the perfection of oneBs process, the fulfillment of oneBs purpose through oneBs Arofile, that gi!en this Nodal en!ironment, this is the e n!ironment in which that purpose can be fulfilled3not one to be re&ected, not one to be denied, but one to be surrendered to correctl as oneself$
The 2/th and 2th Nodes The $th !ate: Transitoriness of Po2er and )nfluence
*ic transit gloria mundi 3 the 2th gate, the Areponderance of the reat, the transitoriness of power and influence$ This is !er important to understand in the conte#t of the 2th gate, which is a gate of the fear of death, the fear of lac" of !alue or purpose in life$ >ne of the things to be clear about is that purpose is not about career$ This is not to be confused with the 2$ That purpose is something else$ That purpose is a deeper fulfillment within life itself regardless of oneBs circumstances$
The Nodal 2, the transitoriness of power and influence, here weBre going to ha!e a bac"ground en!ironment in which this is the ob!ious$ In other words, what weBre going to see on the stage of this life is power and influence as something thatBs transitor 3 people who gain power and lose it, people who ha!e influence and lose it3this is going to be the bac"ground stage$
;emember this is one of the "es in understanding Nodes$ The Node is representing the en!ironment that one is designed to be a part of, but it doesnBt mean that one is the en!ironment$ %nd the abilit to fulfill oneBs purpose, that purpose is fulfilled e#clusi!el through that en!ironment$ In other words, it doesnBt necessaril mean that the being is going to go through the transitoriness of power and influence, but power and influence are going to be the bac"ground of its life$ That itBs going to see the transitoriness of this because it is going to be all around it$ %nd whether or not it is caught up in one side or the other in its process is moot, because it is the en!ironment thatBs necessar simpl to fulfill its purpose$
The $5th !ate: Caring
The 2/th gate is the enhancement of the -ualit and the substance of all acti!ities through caring$ This is the gate of Nourishment$ This is a genetic role gate$ ItBs a role gate for caring$ It is part of the Channel of Areser!ation and itBs the gate of caring$ %nd here in dealing with the 2/ as a Nodal aspect, this is an en!ironment in which caring is there$ In other words, the -ualit and substance of life is enriched through caring, and this is what is ob!iousl in the en!ironment, the stage upon which this person is leading their life$
It does not mean necessaril that theBre going to be caring beings simpl because their Node happens to be in the 2/th gate$ 6hat it will mean is that if theBre operating correctl the will be aligned to this en!ironment and the will be aligned to the !alue of caring, the !alue of nurturing within the conte#t of the en!ironment$ :ut it is the
en!ironment that is going to set the foundation for their process or for their purpose$
6hen ouBre loo"ing at the Nodal mo!ement ou begin to see3remember because weBre dealing with oppositions in the wheel, we are dealing with mirrors3there is a natural mo!ement5 there is a natural relationship mo!ing from one side to the other$ If ou begin our life as a *outh Node 2/, then ou begin a life in which the en!ironment around ou is a nurturing en!ironment$ It is a caring en!ironment$ %nd that caring en!ironment is then going to lead ou into the transitoriness of power and influence$
In other words, the fact that one is wellnurtured, the fact that one is deepl loo"ed after as an e#ample, that there is a nurturing en!ironment around does not necessaril mean that in and of itself guarantees the retention of either power or influence$ Aower or influence is transitoriness$ %nd of course, one could begin to speculate about the pschological conse-uences of seeing that despite the fact that ou ma nurture something, that that thing in and of itself simpl because itBs wellnurtured, welllo!ed, doesnBt necessaril mean that itBs going to come out the wa ou want it to, or itBs going to turn out correctl$
The other side is to come into a world on the 2 side Nodall spea"ing, and come into a world where transitoriness is the ob!ious, where there is this constant discontinuit in the process, onl to mo!e into the second half of the life where regardless of the fact that there happens to be transitoriness in power and influence, that nurturing and caring bring -ualit to the life process$
The E2nd and 2nd Nodes The 4$nd !ate: The 0e#and for !ro2th
This is one of the most difficult Nodal polarities, difficult in the sense that it is a polarit that las a foundation for the potential fulfillment of purpose on a stage where there is alwas threat and ris", and there is alwas uncertaint$ The E2nd gate is the gate of Increase$ It is the gate of growth, and it is part of the abstract$ In other words, this is a deep, deep process, a deep *acral process, and itBs all about7 The e#pansion of resources which ma#imi)es the de!elopment of full potential$
*o, the E2nd gate is a demand for growth, and of course this demand for growth leads to dilemmas when one isnBt operating correctl$ That is, to enter into the right e#perience, the e#perience thatBs going to be fulfilling, the e#perience thatBs going to bring de!elopment into our life, that in order to do so ou ha!e to "now how to ma"e the right decision as ourself$ *o, without that right decision, this whole dri!e for growth can end up being !er disturbing$ In other words, ou can end up using massi!e amounts of energ to enter into a process where ou thin" that growth is going to be the result of that, onl to disco!er that itBs a retrogressi!e process and in fact all it leads to is dilemmas and crisis$
The ($nd !ate: Change
>n the other side of that ou ha!e the 2nd gate, which is the gate of Duration7 The onl thing that endures is change$ *o ou can see that here ou ha!e a Nodal en!ironment in which change and growth are the theme$ Now ob!iousl if ou ha!e a Nodal en!ironment that is rooted in the 2nd gate, the en!ironment around ou is going to be full of uncertaint$ In other words, change is alwas going to be there$ .ore than that, the 2nd gate, which is a gate of continuit, is alwas disturbed when continuit is not something that is reali)able$ In other words, without being able to see the continuit in the process, the first result of that is that3the 2nd gate is out of the *plenic Center and the *plenic Center carries all of our primal fears3the 2nd gate deals with the fear of failure$
;emember, this is not about describing the 2nd gate as a Arofile gate$ This is the 2nd gate as a Nodal gate$ %nd when ou see the 2nd gate as a Nodal gate, what itBs reall saing to ou is that the people that are going to be there in our life are the ones who are going to be constantl dealing with these fears of failure$ ThatBs the en!ironment$ The en!ironment is people that are afraid of failure dri!en to thin"ing that growth is the answer$ This is the whole process$
It doesnBt matter if ouBre going from the E2 to the 2 or the 2 to the E25 ouBre dealing with a fundamentall unstable en!ironment$ rowth in and of itself doesnBt mean that it is stable$ The growth in itself is littered with problems, mista"es, all of the possibilities that come with growth because ouBre entering into something that is new$ *o this Nodal en!ironment, this fear of failure, the fear of failure if one cannot grow properl, this is the stage$ This is what the main plaers in the bac"ground of this beingBs life3these are going to be the dnamic themes that are going to be at wor"$ %nd ou see when ouBre loo"ing at the Nodes, how important it is to understand that ouBre seeing the right en!ironment for ou$
>ne of the most interesting things if ou loo" into the analsis of this, loo" at !arious human beings in their design, that one of the most uncomfortable areas for people in their design are the Nodes, because the en!ironment that the Nodes are bringing, the notself is alwas going to react negati!el to that en!ironment$ '6h is e!erbod concerned with failure( @et in fact, this is a being whose fulfillment of their purpose is onl possible in this en!ironment$
>b!iousl, if ouBre operating correctl and ouBre fulfilling the potential of our purpose through our Arofile, this will not be a life in which ou will be at a loss, where ou will be caught in these fears of failure and all the other things that go with this configuration$ It means that ou will be in a world where that is a theme, and et at the same time, ou ha!e the potential to operate perfectl within that framewor"$ %s a matter of fact, it is that framewor" that offers ou the potential of our own perfection$
The F1st and F/th Nodes The +st !ate: 0isorder and Shoc6 The F1st gate is The %rousing$ ItBs the gate of shoc"$ %nd it is7 The abilit to respond to disorder and shoc" through recognition and adaptation$ 6hen weBre tal"ing about this3this is the Nodal en!ironment3itBs clear that weBre going to ha!e a stage upon which disorder and shoc" are going to be the meat of that en!ironment, and ouBre going to deal with beings who are representati!es of that disorder$ @ouBre going to see dsfunction in the societ and thereBs going to be shoc" that is around$
%gain, itBs not so much that the shoc" is personal, but the shoc" is in the en!ironment, one sees the results of that$ The other thing is the F1st gate is about bra!er or foolishness or courage$ %ll of these are aspects of the en!ironment that is going to be there when ou ha!e a F1st Node$ In other words, that en!ironment is tring to deal with the disorder and the shoc"$
The 5th !ate: .ear >n the other side, ou ha!e the F/th gate, The entle, and this is an e#traordinar gate$ It is the deepest theme of intuition that we ha!e coming out of the spleen$ The F/th gate operates uni-uel in the sense that it is operating through three other gates3its connection to the E, the 10 or the 20 in what is both integration and the indi!idual process$ This is7 The e#traordinar power of clarit$
:ut again, to reall grasp the depth of the F/ as a Nodal en!ironment is to understand that this is a Nodal en!ironment where the real theme is the fear of tomorrow$ %nd what ouBre loo"ing at when ouBre dealing with a F1+F/ Nodal en!ironment is that ouBre dealing with an en!ironment that is not stable$ There is a great deal of fear$ There is a great deal of fear for sur!i!al$ There is a great deal of fear about whatBs going to happen tomorrow$ %gain, that means that one can end up being in an en!ironment where those fears are all around$
>n the other side, ou ha!e the shoc" and the disorder that is also going to be there in the bac"ground$ 6hen ouBre loo"ing at this from an isolated perspecti!e, as I do here, one would thin" that this could be a !er, !er disturbing framewor" upon which to find oneBs purpose$ %nd et recogni)e clearl, that the Nodes that ou ha!e through the genetic continuit of our being are precisel the en!ironment thatBs necessar$
6hen ouBre loo"ing at this from the outside one tends, in the dualit, to pass &udgment$ 6eBre alwas caught in measurement5 weBre alwas caught in this and that$ *o, we loo" at a configuration li"e this in which there is the fear for sur!i!al and the fear for tomorrow, and the shoc" and disorder, and we thin", '>h isnBt that terrible to come in on that configurationJ( :ut this is trul a lac" of awareness$ In other words, there is no wa that ou can pass that "ind of &udgment on it$ In fact, to reall understand an polarit is to recogni)e that e!er polarit can be hell and e!er polarit can be hea!en$ %nd it is not about the polarit$ It is trul about the being$
&ll En'iron#ents &re Correct for the True Self The most fascinating thing about purpose3that is, the nature of oneBs Arofile and oneBs Cross3is that it c an onl be fulfilled within the conte#t of the en!ironment of the life$ TheBre made for each other$ %nd of course, if ouBre operating as the notself, then ou ha!e no access to our role$ @ouBre caught in the characteristics of our :odgraph$ %nd as long as ouBre caught in the characteristics, this "ind of Nodal en!ironment can be deepl disturbing because it becomes part of the conditioning field$ That one ends up being conditioned to be afraid of tomorrow, to be fearful, to be caught in a life of disorder, to be caught in a life that is punctuated b shoc"$ :ut the moment that one goes beond the characteristics and one is able to operate correctl as oneself and begins to
li!e out the true nature of oneBs role, then ou disco!er that this is the ideal en!ironment because it is the en!ironment that is there to nurture that perfection of ou as a uni-ue and differentiated being$ ItBs all about ou acting correctl as ourself, based on our *trateg and based on our %uthorit$ >nl then can ou ta"e ad!antage of such a challenging polarit$
The 21st and Eth Nodes The $+st !ate: Control 6hen weBre dealing with the 21st gate, weBre dealing with a !er, !er powerful ego gate$ %s a powerful ego gate, it is a gate of control and in man was is the focus for whether or not the tribe is going to succeed or not$ It is this !er le!el of control of the 21 that ultimatel can find the e#pression for the tribe and its potential to manifest in the Throat$ %nd when weBre dealing with the 21, weBre dealing with the theme of &ustified and necessar use of power in o!ercoming deliberate and persistent interference$
6hene!er ou see this as a Nodal element, whether itBs going to be the *outh Node or the North Node, ou "now that ouBre going to ha!e an en!ironment where there is deliberate and persistent interference in the en!ironment$ In other words, that this is going to be a bac"ground, the stage upon which this life operates, regardless of whether itBs going to be the first half or the second half of that life, in which there are all "inds of forces that ma"e it e#ceedingl difficult to sta in control$ Control is this theme and there is this constant interference$ There is the persistent and deliberate interference that is also there in the bac"ground$
Now remember this is not the thematic of the Arofile, but this is the en!ironment in which the Arofile has to find itself$ %nd whether it finds itself through the use of this or that force or power or whate!er the case ma be, whate!er is inherent within the Arofile itself, the realit is the onl wa in which that Arofile is going to lead to fulfillment as purpose is b dealing with the bac"ground of deliberate and persistent interference$
>ne of the things about acceptance is the recognition that we donBt see properl$ %nd e!erthing about this is how one sees$ In other words, if one is not operating correctl it can become o!erwhelming to ha!e an en!ironment where there is alwas interference, where there are alwas attempts to get in oneBs wa, and that one can turn on that and end up being !er, !er depressed that the world is against one, and ultimatel that one falls b the waside rather than being able to operate correctl and fulfill oneBs purpose through that en!ironment$ %nd in fact, if one is operating correctl that en!ironment of potential interference and all of that thatBs there doesnBt necessaril mean itBs a negati!e$ ItBs the !er thing necessar for the fulfillment of the process$
The 4th !ate: The Co##on !ood >n the other side we ha!e the Eth gate, The 6ell$ The 6ell is a gate of depth$ ItBs a necessar and -ualitati!e foundation that is a prere-uisite to establish the common good$ !erthing ha!ing to do about the logical process is about ensuring that there is a secure and !iable future for all of us$ %nd in setting this foundation, in other words coming with solutions, solutions that can be of benefit to humanit, is that this is the en!ironment$
Now, what it means, -uite literall, is that the common good is not established$ *o for e#ample, if one has the Eth gate in the *outh Node phase, it is clear that the common good is not being ser!iced, and it is dealing with the dilemma of the common good not being ser!iced that becomes the impetus for that Arofile of that being in operating correctl to find its purpose in that !er en!ironment$
The other thing is that the Eth gate can be one of the most frustrated of all gates$ %nd what I mean b that is where the 1th gate, its direct relationship in its logical stream, sees what needs to be corrected, itBs the responsibilit of the Eth gate to find a solution$ @et in finding the solution there is no eas abilit to be able to act on that solution since the Eth gate is in the *pleen$ ItBs not a motor5 itBs not necessaril connected to either the *acral or the Throat$ *o, the en!ironment of the common good is also going to be filled with lots of people who ha!e opinions about how things can be better, how the common good and the foundation for the common good can be established$
@ou can see here in this combination, the bac"ground en!ironment is an unstable one$ In other words, this is a bac"ground en!ironment where to be able to operate in the world and to operate well that one sees immediatel with this Nodal construct that there are man things that need to be done$ *o, this is a stage in which there are all "inds of potential inspiration to transcend whate!er the dilemmas are$ :ut again, that can onl be achie!ed through the fulfillment of the purpose$ That is, in operating correctl, being able to ma"e decisions through oneBs true inner authorit and thus be able to fulfill the potential of oneBs role on this stage$
The 1/th and 1th Nodes The +5th and +th !ates: See a *orld that Needs to 1e .i7ed The 1/ and the 1 are perhaps the most critical of all the gates in Design$ That is, these are logical gates$ The logical gate as the stream itself, and as the circuit itself, is deepl concerned with the future$ !erthing about logic is about laing down a pattern foundation that will ma"e the future more secure$ In the 1th gate, 6or" on 6hat has been *poiled, we ha!e a logical correction, the logical challenge, the challenge to the pattern to ma"e sure that the pattern operates correctl for the benefit of the collecti!e$ In the 1/th gate, we ha!e the intellectual mirror of this$ That is, we ha!e the gate of opinions, 4ollowing, and all of this about organi)ing through concepts the collecti!e, and organi)ing the collecti!e for the betterment of humanit as it mo!es into the future$
*o when weBre dealing with the 1/ and the 1, one of the things to recogni)e about this as a Nodal polarit is this is the world that needs to be fi#ed$ %nd itBs something !er important to understand if these are our Nodes$ In other words, the stage upon which our life is set is the stage upon which ou get to see the realities of the societ that ouBre li!ing in$ The 1/ sas7 The ancient law that those who wish to rule must "now how to ser!e$ %nd of course, there is this learning process that is deepl a part of this$ :ut itBs more than that$ That is, that ruling and ser!ing are the themes and are the themes of the wa in which societ functions successfull or not$ In other words, there are those who are ruling in the bac"ground and are doing disser!ice to humanit, there are those who are ser!ing who are benefiting humanit, and there is this basic conflict about what will be the correct wa$
The +th !ate: Vigilance 6hen ouBre dealing with the 1, this is !igilance and determination to uphold and defend basic and fundamental human rights$ If ouBre born with the *outh Node 1, one of the things that ouBre going to see in the first part of our life, the bac"ground of that part of our life is the denial of fundamental and basic human rights$ %nd whether that denial of rights happens to be in our own bac"ard or in some place on the other side of the globe, the realit is that itBs going to be !er much a part of the stage upon which ou ha!e the potential to fulfill our purpose$
:oth the 1/ and the 1 are there to ser!e humanit, and so, this need of humanit is what is going to be the most ob!ious in the stage that is set$ In other words, ha!ing these as Nodes is going to place ou in a world in which ou see constantl the need for correction, the need to defend the basic and fundamental human rights of humanit, the need to organi)e humanit in a wa in which itBs going to be more successful for them, and that their future is going to be better protected$ In other words, there is a fundamental bac"ground of ine-ualit and problems that are going to be !er much a part of this personBs life, and that the are going to be able to fulfill their specific purpose through this$
%gain, remember that when weBre dealing with the Nodal polarit, weBre not tal"ing about a Cross in that sense$ 6eBre not tal"ing about the imprinting of the *un+arth, which is /0 of our imprinting$ 6eBre tal"ing about an en!ironment in which that imprinting is going to wor" with$ *o, when ouBre loo"ing at the 1/ and the 1 as a Nodal polarit, if ou saw this in its right angle !ariation, ou would see this is an arm of The Cross of *er!ice$ In other words, at the personalit le!el, at the design le!el, at the Arofile le!el, this is all about being of benefit to humanit$ :ut when itBs a Nodal en!ironment, it does not mean that our purpose is to be of ser!ice$
6hat it does mean is that the !er en!ironment that ouBre going to ha!e to de!elop in is an en!ironment where there are !ast problems in the wa in which humanit operates5 that there are things all around ou that point to the lac" of human rights, and that point to fundamental dilemmas that are there in humanit that need to be corrected$ It does not mean necessaril that our purpose is fulfilled through correcting them, that our purpose is fulfilled through being in that en!ironment, because it is that en!ironment that nurtures whate!er our purpose happens to be$
The 1th and /th ate Nodal Aolarit The 1th and /th ate Nodal Aolarit
Identit ates The 1th gate is the 4ellowship of .an and the /th gate is the gate of the %rm$ :oth of these gates are role gates$ %nd the are role gates in the Center$ In their right angle configuration, the form an arm of the Cross of the *phin#$ ach gate, the 1 and the /, are gates of the *phin#, this polarit on either end is the !er beginning of a -uarter in the wheel$ The 1th gate is the first he#agram of the Kuarter of Initiation, and the /th gate is the first gate in the Kuarter of Dualit$
*o we ha!e this combination of these gates that are in the *elf so that identit is the true stage$ In other words, in terms of the Nodal configuration, whether ouBre going from the / to the 1 or the 1 to /, the bac"ground is about identit$ In other words, the en!ironment is an en!ironment that is full of strong identities and the encouragement of the establishment of identit$ %s an en!ironment, it means that the fulfillment of purpose is going to be deepl connected to this concept of self and the opening of self$
*outh Node 1 to the North Node / >b!iousl, there are different was in which the scenario is going to mo!e$ If ouBre mo!ing from the *outh Node 1 to the North Node /, then ouBre mo!ing from the realm of mind and ouBre going to mo!e through a whole process of learning and listening and de!eloping and ouBre going to be in an en!ironment where ideas and !alues are all part of the bac"ground3 the ideas and !alues that are established b strong identities and that identit itself becomes the formula$
*o, the mo!ement is going to be through the de!elopment of ideas and !alues and through that mo!ement finding the right other, in that sense, because e!erthing about dualit is about the genetic imperati!e within humanit, the imperati!e to bond with the other, the imperati!e that through that bond that the potential of continuit and continuation in the process is created$
*o, when ouBre loo"ing at the 1 and the / and ouBre loo"ing at them as a bac"drop upon which the life is going to operate, how important it is to see that these are beings that need to be in en!ironments that are going to nurture them mentall$ Not onl en!ironments that are going to nurture them mentall, but en!ironments in which the ha!e the possibilit of enriching relationships with the other$
*outh Node / to the North Node 1 The other thing is that the whole process of the / to the 1 is that if ouBre mo!ing from the / to the 1, the / is a demand that there is leadership$ *o the framewor" of the life will begin with these forces that guide, these forces of leadership that are going to be there$ %nd these forces that guide one into !arious bonds$ >ut of these bonds comes the stimulation of the ideas and the !alues$
:oth the / and the 1 are role gates$ It is important to understand that the Nodal en!ironment isnBt simpl a matter of the gates, but is !er much a matter of the lines themsel!es$ 6hen ouBre dealing with the Nodes as lower trigram, how important it is to understand that this is a !er much selfabsorbed process$ *o, for e#ample, this combination of the listening self and the de!elopment of this listening self, if itBs a 1st line theme, then clearl this listening process is one that is of deep in!estigation$ If it is a 2nd line theme one has to be called out to that and the en!ironment will be an en!ironment that does that$ It will be an en!ironment which in order to get the other that is important for ou, in
order to hear what ou need to hear about the de!elopment of ourself, ouBre going to ha!e to "noc" on those doors and ouBre going to ha!e to call it out$
The rd line self that listens is one that it happens to it$ Things bump into it$ %nd ob!iousl when ou mo!e to the transpersonal lines, to the E, to the F, to the G, again each line helps identif the "ind of en!ironment that is going to be embodied b the he#agram thematic$
The rd and the 19th Nodes The ((rd !ate: *ea6ness
6e begin with the rd gate, the gate of ;etreat$ It is the gate of pri!ac and itBs in the Throat Center$ >ne of the things about this gate is that it is a gate of remembrance, itBs a gate of re!elation, and it is a gate of potential articulation$ %fter all, weBre dealing with a gate that is in the Throat$ It is the capacit, in that sense, to remember or not$
*o, when weBre dealing with the as a Nodal en!ironment, one of the things that is !er much a part of that en!ironment is a sensiti!it to the stories of people and the sensiti!it to the e#periential process that human beings ha!e gone through$ There is an e ar, in that sense, for those stories$ !erthing about the en!ironment of the is about wea"ness$ ItBs about the transformation of wea"ness and its potential transformation into strength$ That transformation into strength through both the abilit to be able to go into retreat5 but, the essence of that is the abilit to thin" things o!er, to process them, to ma"e sense out of them, to clarif e#perience$ >ut of that clarifing, out of that role of witnessing, to be able to articulate what one has disco!ered, what has been re!ealed$
*o, here weBre dealing with an en!ironment in which there is a great deal of wea"ness$ %mongst the wea"ness are those that ha!e stories of the mo!ement from wea"ness to strength$ This is a perception$ If ou carr the rd Node, this is something that ouBre alwas aware of$ ItBs something that ouBre alwas sensiti!e to in the en!ironment around ou, the sensiti!it to the general wea"ness that is there in the en!ironment$ %t the same time, what ou see in classic literature, the heroism, the heroic &ournes, the -uests, all of these things are also part of that en!ironment$ ItBs part of that re!elation, the witness stor, how e#perience can transform the wea", in that sense, into strength$
ItBs important, again, to reali)e that this is not a Arofile$ In other words, this is simpl a perception of the en!ironment, or what one is sensiti!e to in the wa in which one percei!es the en!ironment$ :ut it is precisel in such an en!ironment that oneBs purpose, and the potential of oneBs purpose can be fulfilled$
The +-th !ate: Neediness
>n the other side, we ha!e the 19th gate$ The 19th gate is the gate %pproach and this is a gate that is under a tremendous amount of pressure at this time as we come to the closing ears of this particular ccle$ The 19th gate is the gate of wanting$ It is a gate that carries with it the pressure out of the ;oot *stem, a pressure of neediness$ >f course, ou can see that on one side there is this en!ironment where one percei!es wea"ness and at the same time one also gets to hear of transcendence$ That is, the stories of transcendence$ >n the other side ou ha!e this deep neediness for resources, for protection, for the securit of relationships, for the securit of religion$ %nd there is a
neediness that is there within the en!ironment itself$
That neediness is displaed through approach$ In other words, this is an en!ironment where one is sensiti!e to the fact that there are all these beings that want, that lac" so much, and that there is this deep need that resides within them$ >b!iousl, when weBre dealing with the need for the thematics that run out of the 19th gate, weBre going to see that theBre also going to be present$ That is, if ou ha!e the 19th gate as a Nodal configuration, ou are going to be !er sensiti!e to those who ta"e ad!antage of the need$ %nd whether theBre ta"ing ad!antage under the guises of a white hat or wearing a blac" hat doesnBt reall ma"e a difference$ The fact is that itBs going to be !er clear that the wea" and the need are often ta"en ad!antage of in the en!ironment, that all things are interrelated as apparent and manifested through the action of approach$ It is this interrelatedness that forms the deepest essence o f this bac"ground$
The 19 and the are !er significant$ The are gates of the right angle configuration of the Cross of the 4our 6as$ These two was are was that are deepl seen b somebod who carries this Nodal configuration$ It is !er clear that there is this great wea"ness and neediness in the world$ It is from that platform of that recognition that the potential of oneBs purpose is fulfilled through correctness, through following oneBs strateg and oneBs inner authorit$
The 1st and E1st Nodes The (+st !ate: .riction
6hen we begin with the 1st gate, we ha!e the e#pression in the Throat of the logical sstem and its potential for leadership$ This is the gate of leading and itBs part of the Channel of the %lpha$ !erthing about the nature of the 1st gate is that itBs all about friction$ The law of friction, whether acti!e or passi!e, that engenders transference and thus influence$ ItBs something trul to understand that to come into this life and ha!e the 1st gate as a Node is to understand that there is going to be friction that is out there in the en!ironment$ @ouBre going to be sensiti!e to friction in the en!ironment, whether that friction is going to be acti!e or passi!e$
The thing to understand about the nature of logical leadership, and itBs one of the things that so often is seen as the negati!e, for e#ample in our political culture, the fact that in democratic sstems, we ha!e this endless bic"ering and arguing between one side or the other side of the spectrum with each other$ >ne of things to see so clearl about the wa in which collecti!e leadership operates is that collecti!e leadership grows out of friction$ It grows out of friction because without the friction, without the interchange, without the logical e#pression of the patterns there is no wa to influence the others$ This is an en!ironment that can be !er uncomfortable if one does not accept that this is the wa$ In other words, that friction is the wa$ The interchange is the wa to find growth ultimatel, to be able to de!elop ultimatel$
The 4+st !ate: Resources
>n the other side ou ha!e the E1st gate$ This is the gate of Decrease$ The E1st gate is deepl significant because this is the Initiating Codon$ In other words, this is the gate in the ;oot Center that is at the root of what is the human e#periential wa$ 6hen weBre dealing with the E1st gate as an en!ironmental gate, as a Nodal gate, how important it is to see that at its !er basis this is an en!ironment in which resources are the theme$
!erthing about the E1st gate is that it is a gate of desire$ *o itBs !er important to understand that there is this bac"ground theme, this pressure of desire that is in the en!ironment$ %nd with that pressure of desire comes the
realit$ The realit is that itBs the limitation of resources which ma#imi)es de!elopment of potential$ Thin" about that$ This is the E1st gate$ It is the !er limitation of resources which ma#imi)es the de!elopment of potential$ The mother of necessit3out of necessit comes all of these e#traordinar possibilities and in!entions and whate!er$ :ut itBs also important to see the corollar of that$ In other words, that the lac" of limitation of resources alwas minimi)es the de!elopment of potential$
*o here ou ha!e an en!ironment in which there are those who donBt ha!e the resources who are dri!en to do the best that the can$ %nd out of that comes the possibilities of progress, which is the ultimate theme of the e#periential wa$ %nd on the other side, in the en!ironment, there are going to be those who ha!e too man resources and ha!ing too man resources is a limitation$ In other words, that !er limitation is something that will lead to conser!atism, tring to conser!e whate!er that relati!e abundance is as opposed to the potential that comes out of ha!ing the limitation and being able to de!elop$
*o, one of the things to "eep in mind about this 1+E1 polarit that this is !er, !er close to the most dnamic and central mundane themes of life on the planet$ %nd those who carr the E1+1 are sensiti!e to, and see around them, the basic themes and the basic wants of the planet$
Commentators often ma"e the comment that here are all these children star!ing in this countr or another countr with some plague, famine, whate!er the case ma be, and their accusation of apath or indifference in the ma&orit of those in wealth countries, who donBt do anthing about it$ The fact is that the donBt see it$ ItBs not li"e itBs their fault$ There are onl certain beings that see certain things$ %nd ou can see with the 2 !arious polarities that there are these basic primar 2 different was in which we loo" at the world around us in which we are personall attuned to find a wa to de!elop our purpose$
The 1+E1 is a Nodal en!ironment$ If this is something that ou are carring, please understand that our sensiti!it to this "ind of world that ou see is the foundation of our fulfillment of our purpose5 ob!iousl, as long as ouBre operating correctl as ourself$
The FGth and G0th Nodes The %th !ate: "o'e#ent
6hen we begin with the FGth gate, we ha!e the gate of stimulation and this is The 6anderer$ !erthing about the FGth gate is its metamorphic capacit to transform our inner !ision into ideas, ideas that can be e#pressed !erball$ >ne of the things to reali)e about the nature of the FGth gate as a Throat gate, itBs a gate that e#presses both pleasure and pain as a wa of stimulating others$ %nd itBs one of the things to see about the nature of the en!ironment that this is going to represent as a Node$
*tabilit through mo!ement$ *o, hereBs an en!ironment where there is constant mo!ement$ ;emember that this is the perception, to loo" out in the world and see that e!erthing is mo!ing, that e!erthing is bus$ It is the perpetuation of continuit through the lin"ing of shortterm acti!ities$ Here we ha!e an en!ironment where there is a tremendous amount of acti!it and there is a tremendous amount of mo!ement$ :ut one of the things to "eep in mind is that this acti!it and this mo!ement carr a patina that colors it either towards the side of pleasure or the side of pain$ This is also an en!ironment that is full of belief sstems where there is a tremendous amount of effort in tring to attain the products of beliefs and belief sstems$
The %th !ate: Li#itation
>n the other side, we ha!e the G0th gate and the G0th gate is the gate of Limitation$ >f course, this is an indi!idual gate and itBs a format energ, itBs in the ;oot Center, so again we ha!e a pressure sstem that is there$ >ne of the things to "eep in mind is that if ou ha!e the FGth gate in the *outh Node phase then ouBre going to ha!e a !er !erbal en!ironment$ @ouBre going to ha!e the "ind of en!ironment where there is a great deal of sharing of ideas$ There is mo!ement in those ideas, the mo!e from one idea to the other, belie!ing in one thing and then belie!ing in the ne#t thing$
The moment that ou enter into the G0 Nodal en!ironment, ou enter into limitation$ In other words, ou meet the wall$ %nd in meeting that wall, ou get an en!ironment that can be populated with a lot of !er depressed beings$ The G0th gate, li"e all the gates that are part of format energies, alwas has the potential for depression$ %nd the G0th gate, alread being indi!idual, brings a lot of melanchol and the potential of creati!it in the en!ironment$
:ut this is7 The acceptance of limitation is the first step in transcendence$ This is something thatBs !er interesting about the en!ironment$ Here ouBre going from an en!ironment that is full of acti!it, an en!ironment that is full of mo!ement then all of a sudden ou hit the bric" wall of limitations$ 6ithout the limitations, without that as an en!ironment, there is no wa to find transcendence$
Aotential for Transcendence *omebod who has the FG+G0 as a Nodal configuration in their design built into their en!ironment is alwas the potential for transcendence, and alwas the potential to be around those and to see those who in accepting limitation, begin this process of transcending whate!er the limitation happens to be$
:ut again, itBs !er important to understand that this is a -uite a comple# Nodal !ariation$ If ouBre starting with the *outh Node in the G0th gate, then limitation is reall going to be the scene, and there is going to be a lot of both limitation and people tring to get awa from the limitation and failing because limitation is &ust that$ >ne cannot transcend limitation until one accepts it$ *o there can be -uite a constrained en!ironment$
>n the other side, that mo!ement to the FG will immediatel open e!erthing up$ :ut it will open it up in a wa that can be &ust as destabili)ing$ In other words, this constant mo!ement and acti!it, particularl in dealing with ideas and belief sstems and the wa in which these things can be shifting$ It can be an en!ironment where there are all "inds of confusing !isions about what life is, where one can go in this life, how one can transform oneBs life$
*omebod who has this as a Nodal configuration, remember this is what ou see in the en!ironment around ou that gi!es ou the !er basis upon which ou can fulfill our own purpose in this life$
The G2nd and G1st Nodes The %$nd !ate: 0etail
6hen weBre dealing with G2nd gate weBre dealing with the gate of The Areponderance of the *mall, and this is the gate of detail$ The G2nd gate is an e#traordinar gate because it is a metamorphic gate$ That is, it h as the capacit to translate our inner !ision of patterns and formulas and to be able to gi!e it the necessar language and description to
ultimatel allow other people to understand$ *o the G2nd gate is !er much a !erbal gate of the e#pression of detail$
6hen ouBre loo"ing at it as a Nodal configuration, one of the things that is so ob!ious about the G2 en!ironment is the chatter that is out there$ In other words, there is all of this detailing of information$ %gain, if ouBre carring the G2nd Node, then ouBre somebod who is sensiti!e to this in our en!ironment$ In other words, when ou thin" about the en!ironment as being the bac"ground people in our life and the bac"ground people who are around the bac"ground people in our life, when ou loo" at that en!ironment that ouBre mo!ing through ouBre going to be sensiti!e to those that are operating out of the understanding le!el$ This is what ouBre going to be attuned to, and ouBre going to be attuned to the dilemmas of limitation because this is an en!ironment that is limited$ This is an en!ironment where caution, patience and detail are necessar attributes$
6hene!er ou see this, recogni)e that Human Design is a dualistic sstem$ 6hen ou see a Nodal en!ironment that sas thereBs caution, then ou "now thereBs going to be lac" of caution$ 6hen ou see that patience is necessar, thereBs also going to be the lac" of patience$ 6hen ou see the detail is part of it, ouBre going to see that there is a lac" of detail$ In other words, all of the spectrum of what this G2nd en!ironment can bring, thatBs whatBs going to be around$ >f course, all of it is about tring to find a wa to achie!e e#cellence out of limitation$
The %+st !ate: Principles
>n the other side, ou ha!e the G1st gate$ The G1st gate is in the Head Center so this is a pressure center$ This is the gate of Inner Truth and it is a gate of mster, mster onl in the sense that this is not a collecti!e process$ It is an indi!idual process and itBs !er much something in which the pressure of concepts or the pressure to conceptuali)e is something that suddenl emerges$ The gate itself is7 The awareness of uni!ersal underling principles$
%s a Nodal en!ironment, this is an en!ironment in which there are principles and lac" of principles that are there$ >f course, ou as the being carring this as a Node are deepl sensiti!e to the fact that there are principles out there$ ItBs so interesting to understand that to see our en!ironment correctl, to ha!e the right en!ironment around ou is the foundation for our fulfillment of purpose$ This is the wa the mechanism operates$
Clearl, when ouBre dealing with the G2+G1, ouBre dealing with an en!ironment in which e#cellence and principles are the things that are being most sought out$ %t least thatBs what ouBre sensiti!e to$ It doesnBt mean somebod standing beside ou who is going to ha!e a different Nodal configuration is going to see the world around them in the same wa$
ItBs one of the things that is so fascinating about us$ .ost of us ha!e a homogeni)ed !iew of the world$ Thin" about that$ In other words, the world is presented to us in a certain wa in which all of us ta"e this in as a conditioning field$ @ou get that, for e#ample, from the ma&or news outlets, the wa information is mo!ed around, and the lifestle commentaries on the wa people li!e and what is important for them and the things that are established culturall b go!ernments and b religions$
:ut here ou can reall see that each and e!er one of us has a !er uni-ue perspecti!e on the world$ ItBs onl when weBre all operating through uni-ue perspecti!es together that there is ultimatel the potential to trul see the world for what it is$ :ut the onl wa that can be achie!ed is when each and e!er one of us can fulfill our purpose and ha!e a uni-ue perspecti!e that is the guideline for the fulfillment of that purpose$
*o standing there with our G1+G2 beside somebod who has a different Nodal configuration and ou loo" out at the en!ironment around ou and sa, 'there is this deep need that I can feel out there, people want underling principles, the want to find the e #cellence in life,( that the person standing beside ou doesnBt necessaril see that at all$ %nd et, what the see is their differentiated truth, their differentiated perspecti!e$ ItBs not about one or the other being right$ %nd of course, what we end up with is an understanding that there is a !ast spectrum of perspecti!es of what life is reall all about$
The Frd and FEth Nodes The (rd !ate: 8eginnings
The Frd gate is the gate of De!elopment$ This gate of De!elopment is !er important as an aspect of the format energ, the format energ of the abstract process$ This is the gate of beginnings$ >f course, there is enormous pressure to do things with the Frd gate$ The theme of the Frd gate is7 De!elopment as a structured progression that is both steadfast and enduring$
*o, again, understand the nature of the Nodes as the impersonal en!ironment that one mo!es through$ %nd at the same time reali)e that the en!ironment is in itself an illusion because the Nodes bring ou the perception of that that is the wa in which ou see the en!ironment$ The en!ironment is much more than the limitation of one polarit$ @et, at the same time ouBre designed to see the en!ironment in a certain wa$ %nd seeing this en!ironment in a certain wa is the basis upon which ou get to fulfill our purpose as a being$
In loo"ing at the F en!ironment as a stage, we "now that there is going to be a lot of acti!it with de!elopment and beginnings as the theme$ @et, theBre not necessaril structured$ TheBre not necessaril steadfast and theBre not necessaril enduring$ There is an en!ironment in which there is a potential of chaos in terms of the wa in which de!elopment ta"es place$ @et, the wa in which one sees that en!ironment is that it leads one to understand that de!elopment as a structured progression is something that will bring rewards as long as itBs enduring and steadfast$ The F doesnBt "now this, itBs not the E2nd gate$ *o, here is this energ for beginnings, here this energ for freedom$ >f course, not e!erone is free$ %nd this is the wa in which this being with this Frd Node is going to loo" at its en!ironment$
The 4th !ate: )nteraction
>n the other side we ha!e the FEth gate, The .arring .aiden$ This is the gate of ambition$ *o we ha!e an en!ironment in which interaction, social mundane interaction is the en!ironment$ In other words, that the wa in which one transforms oneBs life is through oneBs interactions with others$ %nd it is the transformation of oneBs material life$ *o, the materialism is something that is going to be an important force in this en!ironment$ It also has to do with, because of the magic of the FE$E, oneBs mstical and cosmic relationship$ *o, there in the ambition and there in the en!ironment, in the social conte#t of the en!ironment, also lies the seeds of mstical and cosmic processes$
*o, to ha!e the F+FE as a Nodal en!ironment, the first thing to recogni)e is how much pressure that en!ironment is under$ Here weBre dealing with two ;oot gates$ *o weBre dealing with two gates out of the ;oot Center$ The ;oot Center is a pressure center$ *o this is a pressuri)ed en!ironment$ The being that carries the F+FE is going to see the world as a place that is under pressure, that the life process is a process that is under pressure, and that there is all of this pressure to rise up through the mundane social interaction$
*o, in the en!ironment one is going to see others and the wa in which the tr to mo!e their wa up the ladder to find success in this life$ %nd at the same time, theBre going to see in the en!ironment this whole de!elopment process, this need to begin things, the need to do things$ .ost importantl, is the need to recogni)e that if ou donBt sta with things ouBre ne!er reall going to get the rewards$ This is the Nodal framewor" of the F+FE$
:ut what ma"es it so difficult is that itBs a pressuri)ed en!ironment$ %nd of course, it means that if ouBre carring this as a Nodal configuration, itBs !er eas for ou to be caught up in this pressuri)ed en!ironment5 in other words, to be conditioned b the en!ironment rather than ta"ing ad!antage of the en!ironment$ %nd the wa in which we ta"e ad!antage of the wa in which weB!e been designed to percei!e is that through our natural inner authorit based on our uni-ue perception we can operate e#actl as we are intended to operate and fulfill our purpose$ That, ultimatel, is what itBs all about$
The 9th and th Nodes The (-th !ate: Pro'ocation
6hen weBre dealing with the 9th gate, weBre dealing with a gate of >bstruction and this is the gate of the pro!ocateur$ 6hen weBre loo"ing at this as the Nodal en!ironment, we "now that weBre going to ha!e a stage that is full of characters that are read to pro!o"e$ .ore than that, the understanding that to ha!e these Nodes, and to ha!e the 9th gate as a Node is also to gi!e ou the perspecti!e of seeing the pro!ocation in life, seeing those that pro!o"e$
>f course, the !alue of this pro!ocation is in pro!o"ing analsis, assessment and ree!aluation$ *o reall what that brings out is an en!ironment where there is a need, a basic need for analsis, assessment, and ree!aluation$ ;emember that here in dealing with the 9th gate and the th gate as a polarit, we are dealing with ;oot gates$ 6e are dealing with a great deal of pressure and an en!ironment that is going to be full of pressure$
If ou ha!e these Nodes, itBs !er important for ou to understand that ouBre !er sensiti!e to the pressure in the en!ironment around ou$ @et, in fact, that pressure is correct as a stage for ou$ It doesnBt necessaril mean that ou, ourself, need to succumb to that pressure$ Nor do ou need to be a !ictim of the pressure$ :ut simpl to recogni)e that ouBre sensiti!e to the pressure and that !er sensiti!it allows ou to operate correctl as ourself$
The (th !ate: The .ighter
>n the other side we ha!e the th gate, the gate of >pposition, the gate of the fighter$ This is7 The abilit to preser!e indi!idual integrit through opposition to detrimental forces$ %gain, this is going to bring out a sensiti!it to those detrimental forces that are there in the en!ironment, a sensiti!it to the en!ironment in which there are forces that are being dealt with$ In other words, where there is opposition, where there are those that are fighting against negati!e forces and a sensiti!it within the person who has this Nodal configuration to that en!ironment$
ItBs also essential to reali)e that the th gate and the 9th gate are not onl pressure gates in the ;oot *stem, but these are indi!idual gates$ The are indi!idual gates that carr with them the indi!idual chemistr of moodiness and melanchol as a potential$ There is also the potential for creati!it$ *o, here is a Nodal en!ironment that is going to be full of that "ind of moodiness, but also an en!ironment that has the potential for the creati!e$
*o, itBs essential to reall "now something about our Nodal configuration$ @our Nodal configuration sets the stage for ou$ Not onl does it set the stage, but it allows ou the perspecti!e to be sensiti!e to the dnamics of our particular stage$ Through that, in operating correctl as ourself therein lies the potential for ou to disco!er trul what our purpose is$ This is the wa in which ou can li!e out our Arofile$
The and the 9 as a Nodal opposition are going to bring elements of this moodiness, elements of struggle into oneBs life$ TheBre going to be around$ This threat to personal integrit, the need to defend oneself is something that is simpl going to be there in the bac"ground, that to pro!o"e others and to be pro!o"ed in order to bring out real assessment and e!aluation, thatBs going to be part of the en!ironment$
:ut it doesnBt mean that it is ou$ %nd it doesnBt mean that ou need to fall into what is the dnamic of the +9$ That dnamic, if it was operating through our Arofile would be !er clear because it would represent a !er deep personalit trait as well as a design, an unconscious trait$ :ut here what weBre tal"ing about is an en!ironment$ This is TH en!ironment, this en!ironment of pro!ocation, this en!ironment of the fighter$ %nd it is the en!ironment that is perfect for ou, if ouBre carring these Nodes$ ItBs &ust the right place for ou to be$ ItBs e#actl the right configuration$
If ou see these things in the en!ironment around ou and if ouBre +9 Nodall, then ou "now that e!erthing is the wa itBs supposed to be$ The point is it is that en!ironment$ If ouBre operating correctl, that opens the doorwa to our purpose$ %nd thatBs reall what itBs all about$ :ut remember, because ou ha!e a Nodal configuration it means ou onl do see in a certain wa$ %nd be clear that if ouBre operating correctl, it is that seeing our sensiti!it to the particular en!ironment ultimatel is the force that enriches our life$
The F2nd and the Fth Nodes The $nd !ate: &ssess#ent
This is a fascinating one$ 6hen we loo" at the F2nd gate, ne of the things to recogni)e about this Nodal en!ironment is that there are benefits that can be deri!ed from assessment$ @et, the benefits that can be deri!ed from assessment depend on the discipline to be able to selfimpose inaction$ In other words, itBs the discipline to hold bac" oneBs temptation to deal with the pressures that are going to be there$
6hen weBre dealing with the F2+F as a Nodal en!ironment, weBre dealing with a high pressure en!ironment$ 6e are dealing with two gates that are operating out of the ;oot Center, and the ;oot Center is a pressure center$ *o, the F2+F as a Nodal configuration represents an en!ironment where there is a great deal of pressure$ %nd that pressure operates at all le!els$ *o there is tremendous pressure in the sense of the F2$ There is all this pressure to be acti!e when in fact there is onl going to be benefits deri!ed when there is assessment through inaction$
The th !ate: Sti#ulation
>n the other side ou ha!e the Fth gate, The oous, the gate of ali!eness$ !erthing about the nature of oous is that it is an enormousl powerful pressure force$ It is7 *timulation is the "e to &o$ *o here we ha!e this e#traordinar
pressure to be stimulated$ ItBs one of the things to understand, this is a logical pressure gate that is all about the logical e#perience in life, within the language of the circuit, of the logical e#periment in life$ >f course, the stimulation is absolutel necessar$ The more one is stimulated, the more one is identified5 the more one is in!ol!ed, the more &o that can be there$
*o ou can see that we ha!e an en!ironment where there is not going to be necessaril enough stimulation$ This is one of the themes weBre dealing with when ou ha!e the F2+F as a Nodal en!ironment$ This inacti!it and lac" of stimulation is so much a part of the en!ironment around$ Aeople are not assessing things because there is a lac" of stimulation$ The moment there is something that is offered to do, the bac"ground en!ironment is an en!ironment that is filled with people who do not benefit because the are &umping into things$ The fact is that if one is not properl stimulated, if there isnBt that stimulation there, then there is no &o$ >f course, there is the potential for despair and the potential for dar"ness that lies on the other side$
*o, this is an en!ironment that is under deep, deep pressure, and an en!ironment that is see"ing out something !er basic$ In other words, itBs see"ing an ad!antage in life$ >f course, that ad!antage in life is twofold$ >ne part of that ad!antage is !er important$ That is, it is the ad!antage of something as difficult to put a definition on as &o$ In other words, life must be more than simpl toil$ There has to be something in life that is rewarding and fulfilling$ *o it is an en!ironment that is loo"ing for something greater than what it seems to be, or appears to be in the en!ironment$
The other side, in loo"ing at the F2 is to see this temporar and selfimposed inaction$ %nd of course, this is one of the dilemmas$ It is not about not in!ol!ing oneself in action$ The benefit comes from being able to be inacti!e so that one can focus or concentrate, to be inacti!e long enough to assess the situation$
This is not the F2+F as if it were a Arofile configuration$ This is a Nodal en!ironment$ %nd the thing to be clear about the Nodal en!ironment is what it represents to us personall that this is what weBre sensiti!e to in the world around us$ In other words, if ou ha!e the F2+F, ouBre going to be sensiti!e to the fact that there are not enough pauses before it &umps$ @ouBre going to be sensiti!e to the fact that thereBs a real need for stimulation in life and ouBre going to see the phenomena of these two gates operating in the en!ironment around ou$
ItBs the wa in which our perspecti!e is attuned$ Li"e alwas, in order for ou to fulfill the potential of our purpose ou ha!e to operate correctl as ourself$ %nd in operating correctl as ourself, honoring our strateg and our inner authorit, then ouBre going to be able to ta"e ad!antage of the en!ironment and the wa in which ou percei!e it$
The 1Fth and the 10th Nodes The +th !ate: E7tre#es
The 1Fth gate, li"e the Fth gate, the channel 1F+F, the Channel of ;hthm, this design of being in the flow, is a uni!ersal gate$ This is one of the gates of lo!e and it is the gate of the potential lo!e of humanit or not$ 6hat is so interesting about the 10+1F polarit is that both of them are essentiall about beha!ior$ That is, the 10th gate is about personal beha!ior and the 1Fth gate is about collecti!e beha!ior$
The 1Fth gate, .odest, is the -ualit of beha!ior that e#presses the proper balance between e#tremes$ *o if ou ha!e the 1Fth gate as a Nodal configuration, then ou "now that the en!ironment around ou, or at least our sensiti!it to the en!ironment, or the wa in which ou e#perience the en!ironment around ou, is that ou will e#perience an en!ironment in which there is a struggle to find a balance between the e#tremes$ In other words, there is going to be all "inds of beha!ior in the en!ironmental )one$ The people that ouBre going to see around ou, what ouBre going to be attuned to, is that ouBre going to be attuned to the e#tremes in beha!ior in people in our life, people that are there around ou and impacting ou in that sense$
The +th !ate: 8eha'ior
>n the other side ou ha!e the 10th gate and of course the 10th gate is deepl comple#$ That is, it is the personal beha!ior gate that is at the !er basis of the integration channels$ In other words, itBs at the root of our indi!idualit and this is the gate of the beha!ior of the self, the gate of Treading$ It sas7 The underling code of beha!ior which ensures successful interaction despite circumstances$ *o, one of the things to see here is that with the Node in the 10th gate, what is there or not, what one is sensiti!e to is whether the other human beings are operating with an underling code of beha!ior$ >ne of the re alities of the 10th gate is that if ou ha!e the 10th gate in our design and ouBre dealing with somebod who doesnBt in!ariabl ha!e a code of beha!ior, then ouBre going to ha!e problems with the wa in which the beha!e$ In other words, somebod without a 10th gate, there is no consistenc in the wa in which the operate$
The 10+1F as a Nodal en!ironment is something that can be an en!ironment in which e!erthing ultimatel is about beha!ior$ In other words, that the life platform for the person who has this as a Node, that the real themes of life around them, is whether beha!ior is going to be correct or not$ If the en!ironment doesnBt ha!e an underling code of beha!ior, if there is no proper balance between the e#tremes, this is part of the essential en!ironment for this person that would ha!e this Nodal configuration$
;emember, the Nodes are not personal$ %ll the other acti!ations that are ob&ects, that are filtering agents in the neutrino stream, are personal$ :ut the Nodes are not personal$ The trul are en!ironmental$ It is what ou connect to in the en!ironment$ *o, one of the themes for this being is that theBre going to connect to the beha!ioral le!el of the en!ironment around them$ %nd the themes that are going to be there around them in their life are the e!idence of the problems of e#treme beha!ior, the e!idence of the difficulties in life if one doesnBt ha!e an underling code of beha!ior that is consistent5 all of this is going to be there in the en!ironment$
:ut it doesnBt mean that if ou ha!e these Nodes that ouBre the one thatBs going to ha!e difficult in finding an underling code of beha!ior$ This is what ouBre attuned to in our en!ironment$ In being correct within ourself, operating correctl according to our *trateg and our %uthorit, then the fulfillment of our purpose, the fulfillment of our Arofile on our Cross, all becomes possible because itBs operating out of e#actl the right en!ironmental
foundation$
>ur Nodes reall represent the right en!ironment both phsicall and pschologicall for us in order to be able to fulfill our nature$ >ne of the things to see so clearl about the Nodes is that the are wonderful signposts along the wa$ %s ou operate more and more correctl as ourself, as ou become more aware, ouBre seeing changes$
If ou ha!e the 10+1F, this is what ouBre here to see$ In other words, ouBre here to see the problems in e#treme beha!ior, the problems that e#ist in not ha!ing underling codes of beha!ior$ @ouBre here to see that where others ma not see it at all$ %nd if ouBre not operating correctl, ou ma not onl not see it, but whate!er it is and in a lac" of understanding of it, ou can re&ect it, and as such tr to not see it and fail to li!e out our potential$
The 12th and 11th Nodes The 0ropping of the Lar,n7
The 12 and the 11 are one of the most e#traordinar of all oppositions$ ItBs e#traordinar in the !er personal sense, the personal sense of what it is to be human$ It is this opposition that carried one of the most important mutations for humanit in the past$ That is, the dropping of the larn# that too" place between 0 and 90 thousand ears ago$ This dropping of the larn#, which was a mutation that is still carried b all females, allowed our !ocal chamber to open up$ It was a mutation that changed the wa in which we breathed$ That is, we can no longer breathe and drin" at the same time the wa our primate ancestors could and our hominid ancestors could$
In opening up the !ocal chamber, basicall this dropping of the larn# allowed us to be able to create a real profound !ariet of sound nuances and to ha!e the control to be able to maintain and remember those nuances which ultimatel would lead to what we call language$ %nd ob!iousl language is the most e#traordinar e!olutionar step of humanit in terms of its relationship to all other bio forms$
This abilit to be able to communicate through tonal nuances has allowed us to grow in terms of our selfreflected consciousness$ %nd the capacit of our intelligence has allowed us to grow at an e#ponential rate so that in a !er short period of time, which in geological terms is absolutel nothing, we literall ha!e gone from, at the mental le!el, from !er, !er deepl limited primiti!e mammalian relationship to the en!ironment to where we are toda$ *o the 11+12 is something thatBs !er significant$ 6hen ou see the 11+12 within the conte#t of the Nodes, again, remember that the first thing to understand is that if ou ha!e these Nodes, this is what ouBre going to be sensiti!e to in the en!ironment around ou$
The +$th !ate: Te#ptation 6e begin with loo"ing at the 12$ Now the 12 is the -ualit of restraint$ This is the gate of *tandstill$ ItBs the gate of caution$ It sas7 The -ualit of restraint and importance of meditation and inaction in confronting temptation$ *o guess what 6hat are ou attuned to If this is our Node, then ouBre attuned to the temptations that are there in the world because itBs all around ou$ @ou can see temptation at wor" all around ou and ou can see how little meditation and inaction there is in the face of temptation around ou$
;emember that this is the en!ironment that is e#actl correct for ou in order for ou to be able to fulfill our own purpose$ %nd if our en!ironment is not filled with the power of temptation, then ouBre reall not in the right
en!ironment$ That is, ou are not operating correctl$ @ouBre not seeing what ouBre here to see$ ItBs seeing$ ItBs all about seeing$ If ouBre operating correctl ouBre going to be sensiti!e to the right things in our en!ironment e!en though those things ma be disturbing, li"e the results of being mo!ed b temptation before there is meditation$
The ++th !ate: &ction >n the other side we ha!e the 11th gate, the gate of Aeace, the gate of ideas, a conceptual gate$ It is the harmonic condition in the indi!idual or societ that permits assessment before renewed action$ 6ell guess what @ou are sensiti!e then to the whole action process in the world$ Temptation and action, temptation and action, temptation and constant action without necessaril the assessment, without that either being a -ualit of the societ or the indi!idual, and ou see it all around ou$
*o, if ou come into the world and ou ha!e the 11+12 as a Nodal configuration, then ou come into a world of temptation and action$ %nd ou come into a world where the wa in which the en!ironment can become healthier is when there is meditation, when there is assessment$ :ut it doesnBt necessaril mean itBs there$ %nd it doesnBt necessaril mean that an of that is about ou$ ItBs simpl about what ou are sensiti!e to in the en!ironment around ou$ It is that sensiti!it that is the bedroc", because when ou are aware of this temptation and action in the world around ou, then ouBre operating correctl$ That for ou, there is this opportunit in honoring our inner %uthorit and our *trateg to fulfill the purpose that is inherent in our Arofile$
The th and 1Eth Nodes The +4th !ate: &ccu#ulation and Retention of Po2er
This particular polarit is the perfect match of the inang 2nd gate+1st gate polarit$ %s a matter of fact, if ou put these two polarities together ou ha!e complete definition from the *acral Center running up through the central indi!idual column right to the Throat Center$ ItBs !er important to "eep in mind this connection between the two of them$
>ne of the things to reali)e about the nature of en!ironments in our life is that there are man stages that blend naturall with others$ >b!iousl, this is a comple# en!ironment$ ItBs not li"e each and e!er one of us is li!ing in their own uni-ue bac"stage on some mo!ie lot where the ha!e their e#clusi!e group in the en!ironment$ The en!ironment itself is multidimensional$ %nd within that en!ironment are man aspects$ If ouBre somebod that has a 1+2 Nodal configuration and ouBre with somebod who has a 1E+ Nodal configuration, this is going to lead to the foregrounding, if I can describe it that wa, of the combination of these two$ In other words, that a different "ind of bac"ground seems to emerge simpl out of those forces in the en!ironment on that stage that are highlighted because of that condition$
In dealing with the and the 1E, the 1E is Aossession in reat .easure$ It is the *acral energ that dri!es direction in the life$ This is the accumulation and retention of power through s"illed interaction, coupling grace and control$ %nd it is about an en!ironment where there is an effort to de!elop s"ills, but to de!elop s"ills that are correct for the energ5 in other words, reall to be able to use oneBs energ correctl$ %nd in using oneBs energ correctl, ou can see how man different was3after all this is the deepest theme of the generati!e force, is that the generati!e force becomes frustrated the moment that it is not using its energ correctl$ %nd e!erthing about the stage of this Nodal en!ironment is where there is going to be this need to use oneBs energ correctl$
Now remember, the wa in which an en!ironment is described in terms of its lines doesnBt mean that thatBs what the en!ironment displas, but it displas the !er need for what the en!ironment demands$ In other words, the s"illed interaction is not something that is simpl there$ ItBs something that emerges$ ItBs a demand that is there within the en!ironment$ In other words, the en!ironment is calling for s"illed interaction$ %nd of course because itBs calling for it, ou alread "now that s"illed interaction can be missing from it$ >therwise, it wouldnBt be something that was being called$
The fact that accumulation and retention of power is a thematic of the en!ironment doesnBt mean that e!erbod in the en!ironment is accumulating and holding power$ ItBs that that is the theme of the en!ironment$ %nd it means there are a lot of people who canBt accumulate and donBt retain power, and of course that creates within that en!ironment the desire to be able to find a wa through s"illed interaction to be able to do those things$
The th !ate: "a6ing a Contri1ution
>n the other side we ha!e the th gate$ 6e ha!e Holding Together, and holding together is the e#pression in the throat of the creati!e role model$ It is reall about ma"ing a contribution in this life in terms of the wa it operates as a Arofile$ In its Nodal configuration this is about basic worth reali)ed in contributing indi!idual efforts to group goals$
Now again, thin" about this within the conte#t of a Nodal en!ironment$ It doesnBt mean that worth is necessaril being reali)ed b indi!iduals contributing to group goals$ :ut it means that worth can be recogni)ed as being !aluable when indi!iduals contribute to group goals$ %nd then ou can end up seeing that a lot of group goals in that en!ironment arenBt being fulfilled because there isnBt that indi!idual contribution that brings that difference, that uni-ueness to whate!er the e#perience or the en!ironment demands$
Nodal en!ironments are not simpl a matter of stating7 Loo", this is whatBs there$ ItBs also stating at the same time what isnBt there, but what itBs mo!ing towards as well$ %nd alwas for ou to "eep in mind that our Arofile doesnBt ha!e to be aligned in that sense, in its !alue sense, in its analtical language to the en!ironment ouBre in$ :ut it is important for ou to see that the fulfillment of our Arofile and the fulfillment of our purpose can onl ta"e place within such an en!ironment$
The 2Fth and the EGth Nodes The $th !ate: 9ncontri'ed &cti'ities Here weBre dealing with gates that are part of the Cross of the Messel of Lo!e$ These are gates of the Center, so this is !er much about identit$ 6hen weBre loo"ing at this as a Nodal en!ironment, we can see that this is a Nodal en!ironment that is going to be populated b !er strong identit$ In other words, itBs going to be populated b bac"ground characters that are reall going to stand out in their wa and stand out as identities$ :ut itBs also about lo!e$ %nd of course, one of the themes of this Nodal configuration is that ouBre going to ha!e an en!ironment !er much so in which lo!e is a !er dnamic theme$ That lo!e is there one wa or another$
6hen weBre loo"ing at the 2F, we ha!e the perfection of action through uncontri!ed and spontaneous nature$ *o, there is an en!ironment in which there is a great deal of relati!e innocence$ In other words, it appears that when one loo"s at this en!ironment that the acti!ities are uncontri!ed$ That it appears that life itself is a matter of simpl being able to deal with things at the e#istential le!el in order to be able to maintain oneBs particular innocence$
The 4%th !ate: Effort and 0edication If ou loo" at the EGth gate, this is good fortune that ma be percei!ed as the result of serendipit but deri!es from effort and dedication$ This ma"es the EGth gate as a Nodal stage -uite difficult because itBs the perception of the en!ironment that ouBre in that it appears that the en!ironment is about luc" or the lac" of luc"$ It doesnBt appear that the en!ironment is about effort and dedication$ %nd in fact, disco!ering that it is a matter of effort and dedication is going to be one of the things that leads to the fulfillment of the purpose, whate!er the purpose ma be thatBs related to this Nodal configuration$
%fter all, the fact that the Nodes happen to be in Messel gates does not mean that this is the Cross of the Messel$ ItBs &ust a wa of indicating certain !alues to what the gates happen to be$ This is simpl going to be a Nodal configuration$ %nd ob!iousl, the being that has this can ha!e an "ind of Cross with an "ind of profile configuration$
>ne of the things to "eep in mind is that when ouBre dealing with the 2F+EG, there are two lo!es at wor" here7 >ne is uni!ersal lo!e and one is the lo!e of the bod$ The 2Fth gate is !er much snonmous with the practice of religion$ That is, the 2Fth gate is the gate of the priest and the priestess$ >ne of the things about the bac"ground in a 2F stage is that there is alwas going to be a certain amount of religiosit, spiritualit, e!en the potential of shamanism that is in the bac"ground of that 2F$
Cutting Through &ppearances This configuration is a !er interesting configuration$ @et, at the same time, itBs !er, !er decepti!e$ It appears through the 2F+EG that the bac"ground en!ironment is nothing more than being able to act innocentl in the now and, in that, one is either luc" or not$ %nd that appears to be the wa life wor"s in the bac"ground$
;emember that what the Nodal en!ironment represents is an opportunit for ou to be able to fulfill our purpose$ This is the stage upon which our purpose can be fulfilled$ *o, for somebod who enters in with this Nodal configuration, what theBre going to ha!e to deal with is cutting through the appearances that are there$ This is !er much the dilemma of this Nodal configuration$
The other side of that is there is within the 2Fth gate the potential, also there in the Channel of Initiation, this potential of competiti!eness, to reali)e that the EGth gate is !er much caught up in the dilemmas of whether one can
be a success or not$ *o, ou ha!e these two forces that are also in the bac"ground, that underneath that innocence is actuall a deep competiti!eness5 underneath that 'well, itBs all a matter of luc",( it is a lot of !er hard wor" in the sense of hard wor" tring to get to a point of success$
In the end, such a configuration that is the stage that is being set is !er much about whether or not one can be content within oneself, because if one sees the en!ironment and one is able to see beneath the surface of the en!ironment, it can be something that brings a great deal of disillusion$ The 2F+EG is a fascinating opposition$ It is an opposition that brings the illusion that needs to be penetrated$
The Gth and the Gth Nodes The (%th !ate: Crisis and )ne7perience This is, at its !er best, a difficult en!ironment in which to find oneBs purpose$ 6hen I sa itBs a difficult en!ironment to find oneBs purpose that isnBt to sa that trul itBs an different than an other en!ironment$ Howe!er, from the outside loo"ing in at it, it appears to be an uncomfortable en!ironment in which to de!elop$
The Gth gate is a gate of conflict$ The Gth gate, the Dar"ening of the Light, is a gate of crisis and ine#perience$ @et, clearl this is an en!ironment, li"e all nodal en!ironments that is the precise e n!ironment necessar for the fulfillment of whate!er the purpose happens to be in its Cross and Arofile structure$
The %th !ate: .riction 6ith the G weBre dealing with7 The fundamental design component of progress5 the law that growth cannot e#ist without friction$ The Gth gate is part of the channel of intimac$ That is, its harmonic gate, the F9th gate is the genetic imperati!e for bonding$ This is a channel that is about the potential fertilit and reproducti!e capacit of humanit$ The Gth gate is !er much related to whether or not we are not open or not, opened or closed to intimac$ It is the Gth gate and its emotional conte#t$ Here weBre dealing with an emotional en!ironment$ I thin" this is one of the things that ma"e this polarit difficult as a stage upon which the life is set, one in which there is no release from emotional tension and the emotional wa!e$
In dealing with the G, one has to see that if this is our *outh Node phase then itBs !er clear that what ouBre going to see around ou in the en!ironment3and remember when I tal" about this en!ironment IBm tal"ing about the people that populate the en!ironment$ These beings that populate the en!ironment are going to be caught up in friction$ >ne is going to ha!e to de!elop and find oneBs purpose in an en!ironment where human beings are in conflict, the conflict in and of itself results in friction$ %nd et, the !er conflict can be producti!e$ In other words, out of that !er conflict and friction can come the potential of new life, can come the potential of growth, and can come the potential of de!elopment$
:ut it does mean that when ouBre meeting somebod who has this as a Nodal configuration, that itBs clear that the beings that are around them in their life one cannot e#pect to enter into a peaceful and prosaic en!ironment because itBs not going to be there$ This is going to be an en!ironment that is going to be full of tension$
&n En'iron#ent .ull of Trau#a Crisis and Se7ualit, >n the other side we ha!e the Gth gate which is the gate of crisis7 The rule of ccles in which decline is a natural but not an enduring stage$ >f course, one gets to see that in the en!ironment around them there are all these beings that get to see that the e#perience of life can be de!astating, that there isnBt necessaril progress at the end of the line$ In other words, this combination of the G and the G, these are beings that are going to ha!e to find their purpose in an en!ironment that is full of trauma, which is full of crisis$ %nd in an en!ironment that is highl se#ual in its content$ In other words, that se#ualit is going to be !er much a part of the bac"ground of this particular process$
;egardless of whether ouBre mo!ing from the G to the G or the G to the G, the thing to "eep in mind about the Nodal en!ironment is that it is not about whether the Nodal en!ironment in and of itself is isolated, as we are isolating them here, is this or that,B whether it is a good en!ironment or a difficult en!ironment or a fascinating en!ironment or as, in this case, an en!ironment that is !er much connected to the emotional turmoil of the difficulties of life, of the commonalit of conflict and friction and the deep fears of e#periential failure and the dilemmas and inade-uacies of e#perience, the real "e is simpl to operate correctl as oneself$
If this is our nodal configuration and ouBre operating correctl according to our %uthorit and our *trateg, then ou will fulfill our purpose$ %nd this, as an en!ironment, will not be one in which ou measure against others, but will be the perfect en!ironment for ou to find our purpose$
The 22nd and the E/th Nodes The $$nd !ate: The "undane and Tri'ial
The 22nd gate is the gate of race$ It sas7 % -ualit of beha!ior best suited in handling mundane and tri!ial situations$ This is an emotional gate$ ItBs an emotional indi!idual gate that has a deep sensiti!it to the acoustic field$ >ne of the things about ha!ing this as a stage stetting in oneBs life is that this is !er much a !er ali!e en!ironment$ In other words, it is the mundane and the tri!ial and e!erthing that comes with the mundane and tri!ial$
It is about ha!ing the beha!ior that operates correctl within that mundane framewor"$ In other words, this is !er much a polarit that puts one !er deepl into the world and into the world in order to ha!e the potential to mutate in that world$ :ut also recogni)e the essence of this grace5 in other words, to "now how to be a part of the deep mundane plane$
The 45th !ate: Constraints >n the other side we ha!e a mental gate$ 6e ha!e the E/th gate coming out of the %&na Center, a conceptuali)ing gate, the gate of >ppression$ It sas7 % restricti!e and ad!erse state as a result of internal wea"ness or e#ternal strength or both$ In dealing with this polarit not onl are ou dealing with the mundane plane, but ouBre dealing with an en!ironment in which there are tremendous constraints within the en!ironment itself$ In other words, the stage itself is filled with e#ternal forces that are restricti!e, that will get in oneBs wa$
;emember that when ouBre seeing this within the Nodal framewor", what ouBre tal"ing about is the bac"ground en!ironment that is necessar for ou to be able to fulfill our purpose$ It isnBt in and of itself a negati!e nor is it necessaril something that is describing ou other than if ou are deepl open to conditioning that ou become !er much li"e the bac"ground of our en!ironment$ In other words, ou end up feeling restricted$ @ou end up feeling internall wea" because ou are o!erwhelmed b the strength of the forces around ou$
@et, in order for ou to fulfill our purpose, ou need to ha!e an en!ironment5 ou need to ha!e a bac"ground where ou deal with all of these forces, to deal with all of these forces and et at the same time to be able to deal with them with grace$ @ou can see the coupling of this polarit, this mirror to each other how fascinating their connection trul is$
South Node in the 45th !ate Now, if ouBre starting with the E/, a *outh Node E/ mo!ing towards a North Node 22, then the dilemma ma be being o!erwhelmed b the power of the en!ironment around ou$ %gain, depending on our abilit to operate correctl or not, ouBre going to be able to find our wa, to ma"e our wa in that en!ironment, to ma"e sense out of it$ %nd in ma"ing sense out of it, being able to fulfill whate!er our purpose has to be relati!e to that en!ironment$
If itBs mo!ing to the 22, ob!iousl as ou mo!e towards the midlife point ou begin to de!elop that -ualit of beha!ior that can handle those mundane and tri!ial situations$ In other words, ou go through this process and ultimatel there is this potential for the perfection of oneBs abilit to be able to deal with that en!ironment$ .ore than that, ultimatel the emotional root to be able to mutate others within the conte#t of that en!ironment$
South Node in the $$nd !ate 6hether ouBre mo!ing from the 22 to E/ or not, ou begin with this beha!ioral process in an en!ironment that is mundane and tri!ial$ LetBs sa ou ha!e the 22 as the *outh Node and ou come into this life and ouBre conditioned
to see the tri!ial and mundane as inferior, unimportant and insignificant in our life$ >ne of the things to recogni)e about being able to operate correctl as oneself is that not onl are we here to accept the stage upon which our life is intended to unfold, not &ust simpl accept it, but e#alt in it$
ItBs not simpl a matter of saing '>h, &ee), hereBs m life and itBs full of this mundane and tri!ial blah, blah, blah$( It isnBt about that$ ItBs about recogni)ing that itBs onl out of that platform that the possibilit for ou to fulfill our purpose e!en e#ists$
The Grd and the GEth Nodes *outh Node in the GEth ate
This is -uite an unusual opposition$ ItBs an unusual opposition in the wa in which it operates within the :odgraph because here in the G and in the GE, ou are dealing with the collecti!e pressure of the mind5 that is, the collecti!e pressure of the Head Center$ The G, %fter Completion, is the pressure for the logical mental process and the GE, :efore Completion3and of course, the iron of these names3the GE, :efore Completion, is the pressure for the abstract process$
>b!iousl, an "ind of Nodal acti!ation of this polarit is going to indicate a !er, !er powerful mental bac"ground for the life stor$ The stage is an intellectual stage$ %nd it is a stage that is going to be steeped in thought$ @et, at the same time to see !er clearl that it is a transition in life$ ItBs a !er deep transition in life$ %nd it is !er different depending on which wa ou go5 in other words, whether ouBre going from the logical doubt to the abstract confusion or from the abstract confusion to the logical doubt$
In other words, this is an intellectual process$ %nd the thing to see is that the Nodes alwas represent not simpl the thematic of the stage that is set, but the also represent the characteristics, or the characters that are going to fill the bac"ground of that stage$ 4or e#ample, if ou ha!e a GE *outh Node, this is not simpl that there is this intellectual process of tring to ma"e sense out of e#perience and the past, but also to recogni)e that the characters that are going to populate the bac"ground are going to suffer from confusion$ %nd itBs the !er confusion of the en!ironment that is going to nurture this pressure to resol!e what the confusion comes from$
*outh Node in the Grd ate %fter all, depending on the nature of oneBs Arofile and oneBs Cross, in terms of what is the role of purpose in life, that that role of purpose has to be accomplished in an en!ironment where thereBs going to be a great deal of confusion or an en!ironment where there is going to be a great deal of doubt$ ItBs so interesting to see that in this configuration if one is loo"ing at the G, that one can see !er clearl that to be in an intellectual en!ironment of doubt and -uestioning is also to be in a deepl nurturing intellectual en!ironment as a potential$ It can also be !er distressing and depressing$
The Determined *trength to .o!e Through the *piral %gain, it will depend on the nature of that being and how the are going to operating in their life$ %fter all, the fact that there is a Nodal en!ironment for us means that unless we are aware of the en!ironment, weBre !er far awa from being correct$ %nd the more correct we are, the clearer it is that this is the en!ironment that we ha!e to wor" with and
the characters on the stage that we ha!e to deal with who influence us in terms of the wa in which their auras operate$
The Grd gate is7 in the spiral of life all ends are beginnings5 and the GE is7 transition, li"e birth, re-uires a determined strength for the passage through$ It is this determined strength to mo!e through the spiral, the continuit of the process, all of this is bac"ground of this particular en!ironment$
These :eings %re Deepl Influenced : the Intellectual Arocess in Life 6hether ouBre mo!ing from the G to the GE or from the GE to the G, e!erthing about our de!elopment is that ou are here to be deepl influenced b the intellectual process in life$ It is essential for ou to be in an en!ironment where there are those that stimulate that capacit, that to be in the right en!ironment regardless of whether the en!ironment is filled with confusion or the en!ironment is filled with doubt, the moment that one is trul entrenched in such an en!ironment therein lies the deep potential to fulfill oneBs purpose within that conte#t$
This is the magic of the Nodes$ TheBre wonderful$ The set the stage$ :ut more than &ust the scener, the fill the stage with the beings that are going to be part of that en!ironment that nurtures our potential for purpose$
The /th and the E0th Nodes ates /+E07 >ne of the Three >ppositions in the 6heel
There are three oppositions in the wheel that form definitions in the :odgraph$ The /+E0 is one of these oppositions$ This particular polarit, because it forms the definition in the :odgraph, the snthesis is alread there in the sense of the -uantum representation of this polarit, is the Channel of Communit$ *omething !er eas to grasp when ouBre loo"ing at these three !ariations is that their true nature as an en!ironment is alread being e#pressed$ The onl difference is that under the general generic there are going to be two different was in which the scene of life is going to unfold$
ate /7 The Channel of Communit 6hen weBre dealing with the channel E0+/, weBre dealing with the Channel of Communit$ This is a design of being a part see"ing a whole$ *o this is reall the theme of the bac"ground$ In other words, this is going to ta"e place in an en!ironment where the parts are alwas see"ing to be part of the whole$ That is simpl going to be the scene setting$
Howe!er, the wa in which the process is going to operate will depend whether it begins with the *outh Node / or a *outh Node E0$ 6e are dealing with Tribal Circuitr and weBre dealing with a theme of need$ The theme of need in the Tribe operates through three gates7 the 19, E9 and the /$ :ut it does not operate through the E0$ The E0 is a gate of denial5 one of the two gates of denial, both of which are tribal$ That is, the E0 and the 2G$
Need and Denial *o what ouBre dealing with in terms of the E0 and the /, on one side ouBre dealing with a need, an emotional e#pression of need$ >n the other side ouBre dealing with an ego e#pression of denial$ *o the wa in which the scene is going to operate is in the bac"ground of the communit and in the bac"ground of the social bargain$ In the bac"ground of the marriage contract there is going to be these two sides$ ither one is going to begin from a position of denial and mo!e towards a position of need, or one is going to mo!e from the need to the denial$
:ut the realit is that itBs all going to ta"e place in the bac"ground of the communit$ If purpose is going to be fulfilled for this being, then that purpose is going to be fulfilled within that communit concept because that is where the lessons ha!e to be learned$ That is where the potential of the profile is going to ha!e its opportunit to be fulfilled$
*outh Node in the /th ate 6hen ouBre loo"ing at the combinations in this polarit, "eep in mind that ouBre dealing with two !er, !er different "inds of motors of energ sources$ If ou begin our process as a / *outh Node, ouBre dealing with a dense emotional en!ironment$ In the emotional en!ironment, all the needs are things that rise and crash$ That is, the rise and fall$ There is alwas going to be this emotional dilemma and this emotional clouding as long as beings are operating e#istentiall$
The realit is that when ouBre starting from the /, ou ha!e to see that there is no clarit in the first half of our life, and itBs !er difficult to find the clarit$ *o ou end up needing to be clear and li!ing in an en!ironment where clarit is missing$ >b!iousl, if ouBre operating correctl as ourself, and if ouBre operating correctl within that en!ironment, rather than being a !ictim of the e motional confusion of the bac"drop in our life, ou can ta"e ad!antage of that, grow wise in its nature$
*outh Node in the E0th ate
The same thing is true when ouBre loo"ing at the ego configuration of the E0$ %fter all, the ego is a motor and the motor is will$ >f course, one of the things to be !er clear about is that if ou begin our life with the *outh Node in the E0, that putting our shoulder to the wheel or not, whether ouBre going to use our energ or not, thatBs reall going to be the theme$ >f course, the bac"ground for ou is going to be all of this willfulness as a thematic that ouBre intended to see, and a willfulness that can be full of denial$
This polarit, li"e anthing, automaticall brings emotional authorit into the bearerBs design$ >f course, it is this emotional authorit that will spea" to the correctness of whether or not this being can fulfill its purpose on this Nodal theme$ %nd all of it will ha!e to do with how the deal with their emotional sstem$
The FFth and the F9th Nodes The *outh Node is the FFth ate7 %bundance
I suppose that there is no other opposition that is more fascinating in the wheel right now because of the fact that the FFth gate is a gate that is deepl indi!idual and is the core of a !er large mutati!e process and is under mutati!e pressure$ This is the gate of %bundance, and abundance is simpl a -uestion of spirit$ >f course, this is the uncertaint principal that operates at its deepest in this indi!idual emotional gate$ ItBs one of the things to understand about the bac"ground that itBs going to pro!ide in terms of the en!ironment, that is an en!ironment of emotional uncertaint$
*o, if ou ha!e the FFth gate as the *outh Node phase, then the en!ironment that ou grow up in is an en!ironment of emotional uncertaint where there is this mo!ement from the spirit that embraces it and the spirit that lose its !er innocence$
The F9th ate7 Dispersion
>n the other side we ha!e the F9th gate and the F9th gate is this mirror$ This mirror is a role gate$ That is, itBs one of the genetic role gates$ ItBs the genetic imperati!e, the role in bonding, the role for mating in life$ The F9th gate is Dispersion, the gate of se#ualit$ This is the abilit to brea" down barriers to achie!e union$ >ne has to see that the fact that the FFth gate is under mutation also means that its polarit, its mirror is under mutation as well$ >ur se#ual roles are under mutati!e pressure as well$
The F9th gate, after all, is an imperati!e gate$ It means that that is an imperati!e that is going to be deepl in the bac"ground of oneBs process$ ;emember, e!erthing about the Nodal en!ironment is that itBs the Nodal en!ironment that pro!ides ou with the opportunit to li!e our purpose$ 4or e#ample, the F9 Nodal en!ironment is an en!ironment where the focus is on the bond$ %nd the focus is on the ma"ing of bonds$ The focus is on the brea"ing down of barriers to be able to get through those bonds$
Thin" about what it means to ha!e that as a Nodal gate$ 6hat it means is that is the frame of our life$ In other words, around ou this is going to be the dnamic theme, this is going to be the theme of the world that ouBre li!ing in$ %nd ob!iousl, it connects ou to that world$ :ut it also sas that ou also ha!e to be able to deal with this imperati!e in that world, thatBs wh itBs there, to gi!e that bac"ground in order for ou to be able to fulfill our purpose$
*outh Node in the F9th ate
If ouBre dealing with the whole process as a changing scene in the life, if ou begin with the F9 ou go through this bac"ground of e!erthing that is about finding the other$ !erthing is about brea"ing through the barrier to get to the other$ :ut the fact of the matter is that as ou mo!e into the second half of that process, there is this deep emotional uncertaint about the -ualit of the bonds that one has and whether the bonds were reall worthwhile, because thatBs the framewor" that is there in the bac"ground$
*outh Node in the FFth ate
If ou begin with the FF as our process, again, because this is an emotional configuration, ou ha!e to recogni)e that if the emotional sstem is not operating correctl, then emotional decisions are being made in the now where there is no truth$ %nd that the uncertaint principle that is there inherent in the FFth gate can simpl lead to a world of emotional confusion that becomes a need for the other$
To operate correctl is to ta"e ad!antage of the en!ironment$ ThatBs what itBs there for$ %nd itBs the !er specifics of that en!ironment that nurtures the correctness of oneBs fulfillment of purpose$ *o here in this particular configuration is the uncertaint about the !alue of achie!ing union$ This is the bac"ground to fulfill the purpose of that being in its life$
The 0th and the 29th Nodes The 0th ate7 Clinging 4ire
The 0th gate, The Clinging 4ire, is in the emotional sstem$ This is the gate of the fates, freedom recogni)ed as an illusion and limitation accepted as a fate$ *o one of the things to understand about this as a stage thatBs being set for a process, if this is the *outh Node phase, then one is going to ha!e in oneBs bac"ground the abilit to be able to see and recogni)e the illusion of freedom, and perhaps, be able to see that limitation accepted is something that is an act of transcendence$ :ut literall, in terms of a bac"ground en!ironment, one is going to see all "inds of forces in oneBs life hit a bric" wall$
%nd whether itBs our famil hitting a bric" wall materiall, or whether itBs a health issue, or whate!er the case ma be, in the bac"ground of our mo!ie with that 0th gate being there, the hand of the fates are going to be there in the en!ironment$ It also means that because this is the en!ironment that is going to surround ou, and because the characters in the en!ironment are going to be dealing with the conse-uences of this field, the wa in which ouBre going to fulfill our own purpose is going to be through the acceptance of this en!ironment$ In other words, ou are going to ha!e to fulfill our purpose through the recognition that freedom is an illusion, and that limitation is something that can onl be surrendered to$
The 29th ate7 The %bsmal
>n the other side, ou ha!e the 29th gate and this is The %bsmal$ ItBs the deep within the deep5 persistence despite difficulties has its ine!itable rewards$ This is all about saing es, itBs all about ma"ing commitments$ :ut this is about persistence$ %s a bac"ground fre-uenc the stage is being set, there is an en!ironment where persistence is
e!erwhere, where there is alwas going to be those that are going to demonstrate the benefits of "eeping our shoulder to the wheel because ultimatel there are rewards$
The *outh Node in the 29th ate
6hen ouBre loo"ing at this mo!ement as scener in the bac"ground of somebodBs life, ob!iousl the 29 to the 0 is !er different from the 0 to 29$ :ut the thing to recogni)e clearl about this is that if ouBre beginning with the 29, then one of the things to see is that with that first period, the rewards are not there in that phase$ That is, in the first half of the life it is the persistence that is going to be the teaching instrument of the en!ironment around ou$ %nd that it is onl through persistence that ultimatel ou can get to the reward of the recognition thatBs on the other side, that itBs in the hands of the fates$ %nd regardless of how persistent ou are going to be, the rewards are alwas going to be limited to the hand of the fates$
The *outh Node in the 0th ate
:ut if ou start with the 0th gate, if ou begin this process of dealing with limitation, remember that one can onl accept limitation when one has accepted oneself$ 4or the notself to begin with the 0th gate as a *outh Node can often be e#ceedingl difficult, particularl if one is a rd line$ >ne is going to meet the difficulties of life$ >ne is going to constantl face up to the realit that there is no real freedom$ That e!erthing about life is a limitation and unless one is operating correctl, one is not going to be able to ta"e ad!antage of that en!ironment$ ;emember that the Nodes represent the stage upon which ou can fulfill our purpose$ :ut the purpose inherent in the Arofile onl resonates to our en!ironment when ouBre operating correctl$ >therwise, it doesnBt$
%nd of course, the !er en!ironment itself can become a negati!e in oneBs life, an en!ironment where one simpl throws up oneBs hands in the air because there is no freedom, throws oneBs hands up in the air because there is onl limitation$ %nd of course, out of that does not come the necessar transcendence$ @et, somebod who has this as a *outh Node theme when the mo!e into their North Node phase, in the end the onl solution is to put our shoulder to the wheel5 this is what is all around ou$ That those, despite the illusions, simpl maintain what their life force is committed to, what it is to simpl be$ :ut the secret alwas is to honor our authorit, to follow our strateg$ %nd in operating correctl, ou will ta"e ad!antage of that en!ironment and our purpose can be fulfilled$
The E9th and the Eth Nodes 0ou1t and ;uestioning
The E9th gate, ;e!olution, in the Kuarter of Initiation, and opposite is the Eth gate,@outhful 4oll in the Kuarter of Dualit$ 6hat ou ha!e here as a Nodal en!ironment that is the re!olutionar formula5 this snthetic formula combination that is the Nodal en!ironment or the Nodal bac"ground$ It means it combines two things7 an en!ironment of doubt and -uestioning$ %n en!ironment of doubt and -uestioning is something that can be deepl, deepl stimulating in the life$ This en!ironment leads to tring to come up with resolutions to whate!er the doubt in the en!ironment has to be$
The *outh Node in the Eth ate ;emember that to ha!e a Nodal en!ironment that is rooted, for e#ample, in doubt3let?s sa ou ha!e a *outh Node that is a E3is to recogni)e that this is not about creating uncertaint in our life but it?s about stimulating the intellectual de!elopment and the discussion of doubts, and tring to resol!e them ultimatel for the benefit of humanit$ This is one of those en!ironments that is !er, !er important in terms of stimulation intellectuall$
The E9th ate7 ;e!olution The E9th gate on the other side is in the realm of initiation, this is ;e!olution and this is all about the potential for transformation of societ based on the highest principles$ 6hen ou see this in a bac"ground, ou can see it in one of two was and the?re -uite different in the wa the operate$

Oltimatel this can lead to re!olution$ It can lead to a new standard, or the establishment of a different wa in which the en!ironment operates$ >r, the !er fact that ou can mo!e from our doubts about a particular en!ironment onl to see it flourish as ou mo!e towards the second half of our life$
The *outh Node in the E9th ate If ou?re operating from the E9 as the *outh Node, then ou ha!e to see that at the !er beginning of our process, the en!ironment is going to be one in which the communit is going to be rigidl established on specific principles and ou?re going to ha!e to mo!e through this societ and the wa the rules ha!e been laid out$ >nl when ou get to the second half of our life are there reall going to be doubts that emerge about that societ$
;emember, when I sa doubts emerge, it?s going to be because the en!ironment offers ou those opportunities to see
