@$usic
Assalamualai#um and a %ery good morning to my "ellow "riends, teachers and udges. /oday, on this "ine morning, I would li#e to present to you a public speech about ‘$usic’.
$usic. 2e hear it e%ery day. o matter where we are, music will always be played either on the radio or ust by humming a tune. :id you #now that music started as early as the aleolithic era0 5o music is about 6'' ''' years old. 2ow! It’s so old. 5till people enoy listening to this ‘old’ art "or nearly 6'' millenniums.
$usic is an art which uses sound as its main medium. /he word ‘music’ originated "rom a 3ree# word ‘mousi#e’ (musi#is), which means art o" the $uses ($uses). /he $uses are the 3oddesses o" 3ree# who lo%es art and literature.
/he elements needed to produce music are pitch, rhythm and dynamics. /he pitch is the combination o" melody and harmony. Rhythm is the beat o" the music. :ynamics are the %olume. At "irst the song starts so"t then it gradually starts to get loud. 5uddenly there’s an accent and e%erything settles down and dies away.
An obect needs to be %ibrated in order to produce sound. 1et’s ta#e a guitar "or e9ample. 2e pluc# the strings in order to %ibrate them. /he sound wa%es then enter the hollow wood and echoes in order to ma#e the sound louder. ;ow about a woodwind and a brass instrument0 Ah, but there’s a catch. /hese two instruments are the same but they are not ali#e. oth instruments need ‘pu"" power’. ut a woodwind instrument uses holes to indicate di""erent notes whilst the brass "amily uses %al%es.

5ome standard orchestral instrumental "amilies are the strings "amily, as in pianos, guitars, %iolins and so on. e9t, the woodwind "amily. or e9ample, "lutes, recorders, bassoons and others. 1astly, the brass "amily. /he "amily consists o" trumpets, rench horns, tubas and others. 5ometimes, people use imaginary instruments li#e the air guitar. /hey are ust basically strumming li#e a guitar but without a guitar. 5till the song is playing in their heads.
/he music genre is generally endless. It ranges "rom Acapella to usion a==, 3aana to $u=a# also #nown as the music you here in ele%ators, agauta, a #ind o" ?apanese style o" music, to Rumba, 5abar to Bydeco. 5abar is not the $alay word "or rela9. It is a drumming style "ound in 5enegal. ;a%e you heard0 /here’s another genre coming! Re%olution op is created by Csher Raymond. h, you #now! ;e’s ?ustin ieber’s mentor. /he most popular genres that we hear nowadays are pop, dominated by the late Ding o" op, $icheal ?ac#son. Roc#, conEuered by 4l%is resley. un#, played by bands li#e 3reen :ay and aramore. ountry written by /aylor 5wi"t and a "ew others. ut the only thing I can’t deny is that the most popular genre right now is Dpop or Dorean op. oy bands li#e 5uper ?unior and girl groups such as 647 are e9amples o" artists who gets in%ol%e in D-pop. oys and girls are going nuts o%er the artists.
/hrough music and the lyrics, a massage could be passed through. $oral %alues could also be "ound in them. 5ome song lyrics contain impolite words which should be a%oided as it could contaminate the thought. $oti%ating songs could boost and moti%ate anyone who listens to it.
omposers are people whose ob is to ma#e music. $usic could come out as comple9 as it sounds or e%en as easy as ust ma#ing up a tune by humming. It may sound di""icult but i" you ha%e the will to learn and create music, then it won’t be that di""icult. An e9ample o" a classical composer that we always hear but seldom #now is 1udwig %an eetho%en who wrote the song entitled Fr 4lise. At the age o" 6G, 1udwig %an eetho%en started to lose his sense o" hearing. ;e gradually became dea" but that 6

did not stop him "rom creating more "antastic music. :on’t #now who’s eetho%en0 ;ow about we ta#e someone local. 4dry Abdul ;alim. ne o" the members o" a boy band with the name DRC. ;e has created music "or many A#ademi antasia candidates and many are a hit!
$usic is written theoretically and made real practically. It li%es in e%ery one o" us. $usic is li#e an international language. 4%en though we do not understand the lyrics but we understand the melody. /he rhythm. /he harmony. 4%erything starts small. In music, it starts with a note. /hen, a tune. A"ter that, a rhythm and a melody. inally, a harmonious song that unites e%eryone disregarding the race or the bac#ground or whate%er at all was born. $usic unites the souls o" $alaysia and the world. 3uess what! 2e enoy it!
/han# you and Assalamualai#um.
