 Psalm 110 and the Melchizedek Priesthood 

hwhy has sworn, and will not repent: “You are a Priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.” Tehillim/Psalm 110:4

a The Book of Hebrews (originally written as a letter) is an inspired document of 

highly relevant spiritual spiritual content. If we might use the word “themes” “themes” for a moment, the main themes of this book (all connected and interrelated in many ways) would likely  be these five:

hwhy Tzebaot (hwhy of Hosts1), the Sovereign Creator. 2. Drawing near to hwhy through the blood of  eswhy.

Perfection/completion: Increasingly being/becoming being/becoming doers of the Word as His Spirit writes the Torah of  hwhy upon the hearts and minds of those who are continually seeking the Face of Elohim, His Kingdom, and His righteousness. We read in the Book of Hebrews that the Mashiach (Messiah) is now set forth/exalted as the High Priest of Yisrael after the order  of Melchizedek and that He continually ministers before hwhy in the Most  Set Apart Place, even as the Levitical high priest did but once a year  on Yom Ha’Kippurim across those many centuries in the various earthly Tabernacles of ancient Yisrael.  New Covenant believers believers now draw near to Elohim through the blood of the Lamb, and continually find love, rest, peace, and joy in the Presence of  hwhy. In the light of His 2 3 Presence, we are transformed and Ruach ha’Qodesh writes the Torah upon our hearts 4 and minds. In the days of old, there were outstanding individuals who did many great things for the Name and Kingdom of the Most High, but through the current administration of the Melchizedek Priesthood, hwhy intends to make all of all of His people

hwhy of Hosts is the Commander of all the hosts of heaven (Sun, Moon, stars, messengers/angels) and earth (wind, waves/sea, the elements, demons, locusts, locusts, flies, frogs, lice, and even human kings and their armies). doers of the Word  —much more so than the spotty performance of the relatively relatively few overcoming believers witnessed within the administration of the Levitical Priesthood. When we understand the spiritual power within the Melchizedek Priesthood, it also  becomes evident that hwhy now expects to see widespread obedience to His Word/Torah as contrasted with the almost continual degeneration, apostasy, and  punishment/captivity  punishment/captivity that were upon His His people in the days days of old. In pondering the Melchizedek Priesthood we are quickly and inevitably brought to Tehillim/Psalms 110. 110 .  Not only is this psalm psalm a song directly related to that preeminent Priesthood, Priesthood, but its lines are much-quoted in the Book the  Book of Hebrews. Hebrews. Tehillim 110 provides us with a prophetic a  prophetic revelation 6 into the Melchizedek Priesthood. Having lived a life on this earth without sin, eswhy of Nazareth is now actively fulfilling the prophecies spoken forth in  Psalm 110. 110. And not only did the Messiah qualify to become a “priest forever after the order of  7 8 Melchitzedek,” He actually became “Ha’Coheyn ha’Gadol”—the Preeminent and 9 Greatest Priest of the Melchitzedek the  Melchitzedek Order . “Ha’Coheyn ha’Gadol” is the ultimate  position of leadership and and preeminence over Yisrael and and many translations render this this  phrase as “the High Priest.” However, we believe believe this title is more accurately accurately translated as “the “ the Great Priest ,” ,” or “the “the Greatest Priest .” .” Since the Messiah was was the Unblemished Lamb, since He was without sin, death had no power over Him. And  because the Savior of the world was without sin, death ultimately had no no legal , 10 11 spiritual claim upon the Son of Elohim. Thus, He was raised on the third day and 12 ascended that morning to the Father to be accepted as the Wave Sheaf. Descending  back to earth later on the very same day, eSwhy was seen that evening by the 13 emissaries. And so it came to pass that, across the space of forty days, He would appear time and again to His talmudim (taught ones) speaking to them concerning the 14 things of the Kingdom. On the fortieth day, He ascended, once more, and sat down at the Right Hand of  hwhy. This was the day day of His coronation coronation as ha’Cohen ha’Cohen ha’Gadol, the Great Priest. eSwhy was made “a “a priest forever after the order of Melchitzedek. ” We read of this in Tehillim 110: 110 :

1 hwhy said unto my Sovereign, You sit at My right hand, until I make Your enemies Your footstool … 4 hwhy has sworn, and will not repent: You are a priest for ever after the order of Melchitzedek. Psalm 110:1, 4 And this text is cited by the writer to the Hebrews: 5 So also, the Messiah exalted not Himself to be made a  High Priest; but He that that said to Him, “You are My Son, this 15 day I have begotten You.” 6 As He also says in another place, 16  “You are a Priest for ever after the order of Melchitzedek.” Hebrews 5:5-6 As ha’Cohen ha’Gadol, the Great Priest, eSwhy now blesses the people of Elohim and 17  places the Name of hwhy upon them, just as indicated/prophesied in the Levitical 18 Blessing—called by some the Aaronic the  Aaronic Blessing or Blessing or the Birkat the Birkat Kohanim. Kohanim. So not only did the Messiah come the first time in His Father’s Name, He now intercedes on behalf  of His people, imparting the favor of Elohim by continuing to place the Name/Spirit of  hwhy upon those who draw near to hwhy through Him. Him. This is how the Messiah eSwhy is now fulfilling His prayer-promise to continually make known the Name of  hwhy to His followers:  And I made known to them Your Name,  and will make it known; known; that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them. John 17:26 And this is in keeping with the Messiah’s teachings that we are to uphold the Shema during our times of prayer, even as He taught in His words about praying in the Spirit: Our Father, who dwells in the heavens, Your Name be set apart: Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, in heaven and upon the earth. Matthew 6:9 Making known the Name of  hwhy and His splendor is an important part of the Melchitzedek Priesthood. Thus, the present study is is important as we expressly seek to to  better understand this Heavenly Heavenly Priesthood—the priesthood priesthood now being filled filled by those 19 who faithfully answer “the high call of  hwhy in eswhy the Messiah.” And the Spirit of hwhy is giving His people special light on this topic to heighten our understanding:

 Part of our meditation meditation will involve contemplations contemplations surrounding  surrounding  the lives of two men who the Spirit revealsto have been prophetic types of the Mashiach in His service as the Melchitzedek Priest: Yoseph (Joseph) and Yehoshua (Joshua). Those who answer the high call of the Messiah, and who remain faithful to hwhy by 20 enduring to the end, will qualify to be placed in the category of “called, and chosen, 21 and faithful.” These are the Messianic believers who will qualify to reign with the Messiah as king-priests within His Melchitzedek Priesthood across the fast22 approaching, 1000-Year Era known as “the Millennium.” We now continue this study by reading about the Messiah’s exaltation within the  Melchitzedek Priesthood , even as it is recorded in Tehillim 110. 110 . Afterwards, we will  proceed to study a number number of topics related to this this great and prophetic psalm. psalm. Readers are asked to take note of the great number of times and ways the Book of Hebrews makes the connection between the Mashiach and the many important topics/concepts that surround His Melchitzedek Melchitzedek Priesthood. In relation to this Priesthood, Priesthood, the present manuscript will also ponder a significant number of Hebrew words and phrases that, not coincidentally, add to 110. Across a period of several years, the the Spirit gradually revealed these profound number number connections. More recently, though, it seemed as if a significant avalanche of these things were revealed. And since all of this occurred completely apart from any direct intention on the writer’s part to find such revelations, when they reached the point of being overwhelming , it became evident that now was the time we should go forward on finally finishing the present work. Before this study ends, we will see and be amazed over the many Hebrew words and phrases which add to 110 and, thus, which help us to better understand the  Melchitzedek Priesthood  ordained by hwhy. And through these Hebrew misparim/numbers misparim/numbers we will better  understand more of what hwhy intends through the administration of said Priesthood. What great proof the Most High is giving to the world that His Word is certain and 23 true, further strengthening those who already have ears to hear and assuring them that they have everything to gain by staking their all upon the surety of His age-abiding Word. hwhy is the Elohim who counts, numbers, names, weighs, and measures. And He does this on every page of His inspired Word. We give praise and honor honor to the 24 Most High for revealing His awesome Word to all those who seek Him. Finally, although many teach the Feasts of the Seventh month have had no fulfillment, the Book the Book of Hebrews makes it clear we are now living in a protracted, ongoing Yom Ha’Kippurim/Day of Covering (called by many “Yom Kippur,” or “the Day of  Atonement”). year on Yom Ha’Kippurim, so the High Priest Pries t after the order of Melchitzedek has 25 entered the Most Set Apart Place in the Heavens. And just as ancient Yisrael awaited the priest’s emergence on the Day of Covering, so we, too, now await the emergence of eSwhy, the Great Priest. This is the time that the Savior Savior said His followers would 26 27 fast (even as was done on Yom Ha’Kippurim ). And when when the Messiah comes forth from His time of atoning intercession in the Presence of  hwhy, His wrath will be fully vented on all those who have still not repented. Thus, many weighty matters matters are  before us. Even so, our ultimate intent intent in this work is to bring love, joy, peace, peace, and strong encouragement to those who desire to seek  hwhy with all their heart (and to those who may already be be doing so). Now is given the reading of  Tehillim/Psalms 110. 110. Tehillim 110  A Psalm of David.

1 hwhy said to my Sovereign, “You sit at My Right Hand, until I put Your  enemies a stool for Your feet.” 2 hwhy will send forth the rod of Your strength out of Tziyon: Tziyon: Rule in the midst of Your enemies. 3 Your people offer themselves willingly in the day of Your power, in 28 qadosh array.  A Tale of Two Prophets Prophets To better understand the Melchitzedek Priesthood , the first matter to be pondered relates to two men who number number among the prophets. prophets. We will contemplate the the lives of  30 two men who were prophetic types of  eswhy the Messiah: Yoseph ben Ya’acov (the 31 man known in English as “Joseph” ) and Yehoshua ben Nun (the one most often 32 referred to as “Joshua” ). The Spirit gives us initial indications indications that both men were

 prophetic types of the Messiah—and that they reveal reveal more to us concerning the Melchitzedek Priesthood—since both men lived to the age of 110: 22 And Yoseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father’s house: and Yoseph lived  a  a hundred and ten years … 26 So Yoseph died, being  a  a hundred and ten years old : and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt. Genesis 50:22,26 28 So Yehoshua (Joshua) sent the people away, every man to his inheritance. 29 And it came to pass after  these things, that Yehoshua, the son of Nun, the servant  of hwhy died, being  a  a hundred and ten years old . Joshua 24:29-30 That both of these men died died at the age of 110 is is not coincidental by any means. And through these related events, we are provided with an example of  numerology —an 33 Inspired occurrence of a specific a  specific number  which provides us with clearly inspired  results. results. In this case, numerology yields a revelation of inspired knowledge from the Scriptures. That both of these men lived to be 110 years of age—and all of this occurring many long centuries before Tehillim/Psalms 110 was ever written—calls our  attention to the fact that their lives were/are prophetic pictures of the Ultimate Melchitzedek Priest, the Messiah. All the days days of every servant of  hwhy are numbered, even as King David wrote in  Psalm 139: 15 My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in  secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16  Your eyes did see my unformed substance; and in Your book they were all written, even the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was none of them. Psalm 139:15-16 Likewise, the prophet Iyob (Job) indicated the Sovereign hwhy has numbered all our  days: 1 Man, that is born of a woman, is of few days, and full of trouble … 5 seeing his days are determined, the number of his months is with You, and You have appointed his bounds that he cannot   pass. Iyob (Job) 14:1,5 Hence, we believe the Scriptures reveal the following things regarding Yoseph (Joseph) and Yehoshua (Joshua): Since both men died at the age of 110—many long centuries before Tehillim 110 was ever written pertaining to the order of Melchitzedek—the Spirit  is calling our attention to the fact their lives reveal important aspects of the  Mashiach and His exaltation exaltation within the the Melchitzedek Priesthood. 33

We will compare the lives of Yoseph and Yehoshua with that of  eswhy the Messiah, and we will not only be further instructed regarding r egarding the Life and Ministry of the Savior, but we will also be further edified ed ified in our meditation surrounding the importance of the Melchitzedek Melchitzedek Priesthood and many of of its particulars. Those who  believe in the Messiah Messiah are ever seeking to better understand understand and walk in “the ancient 34 35  paths”  —those ageless paths which which define “the obedience obedience of faith.” And if we are operating under the Headship of the Messiah, then the spiritual principles we learn about the Melchitzedek Priesthood will further define our earthly sojourn through this  present life, teaching us still more about the faith-walk faith-walk which is most pleasing pleasing in the sight of hwhy. Sha’ul wrote something very very important about those those who wish to be  justified so as to partake in the First Resurrection: the emissary indicated they they must be doers of the Torah.  For not hearers of the Torah will be justified  justified  before Elohim, but doers of the Torah will be justified. 36 Romans 2:13 The Messiah spoke likewise, indicating only those who keep and teach the Torah 37 commandments would be called great  called  great in in the Kingdom of Heaven. Yoseph ben Ya’acov: The Prophet, the Suffering Servant, the Priest,  the Exalted King, King, and the Shepherd Shepherd of the Sheep When reading the life of Yoseph, one cannot help but be overwhelmed at the great suffering which he encountered. encountered. He was hated by his brothers brothers who sold him into into 39 Egyptian slavery; he was falsely accused of adultery although quite faithful to his 40 master; he was forgotten in prison by one to whom he had brought truth and 41 encouragement via a correctly interpreted dream; and through all these sufferings, losing day after day, week after week, month after month, and year after year—   precious moments which could could have been spent with with his father, Ya’acov, and his  brother, Binyamin (Benjamin). This immense loss was, perhaps, the the greatest incurred throughout all of his sufferings; it was lost time which Yoseph would never regain never regain 34

within his mortal lifetime; it was invaluable time which he would never recover on this side of the Resurrection. Yet Yoseph was a king and ruler in the making, making, and it was needful for him to endure these hardships and sufferings that he might acquire the 42 wisdom needed to rule in righteousness. It was needful for him to share in the sufferings of the Messiah. Messiah. It was needful for Yoseph to suffer affliction affliction and  persecution before he could enter into the realization realization of his dreams—heavenly dreams which foretold of a great future having been inspired by the sovereign Mind of the Most High. And these were dreams which could could only be fulfilled by Yoseph’s eventual greatness and exaltation. exaltation. Perhaps the greatest lesson of all all was that Yoseph came out on the other side of pain a victorious man; he was made more than conqueror. He had became something he would have never been otherwise. And we  believe Yoseph emerged in in triumph because he had trusted in the Sovereign Sovereign Hand of a 43 44 faithful loving Creator  who was also the loving Potter   —the One forming the 45  patriarch, through suffering, into into the Image of the Invisible Invisible Elohim. Yoseph’s Dreams We begin this section by reading and pondering the account of Yoseph’s first dream. 46 The name of Yoseph means “ hwhy adds/increases” and we note this name has the same root word as word as the word translated “more” in the following text: 5 And Yoseph ( Powy)  Powy) dreamed a dream, and told it to his brothers, 47 and they hated him yet the more (wpowyw). 6 And he said to them, Hear  now this dream, which I have dreamed. 7 Behold, we were binding sheaves 48 in the fields, and behold, my sheaf rose up, and stood upright. And behold,  your sheaves came round round about and bowed down to my sheaf. 8 And his brothers said to him, Will you indeed be a king over us? Will you indeed rule over us? And they hated him yet the more (wpowyw)49  for his dreams and for his words. Genesis 37:5-8 Those who live and speak the Word of  hwhy will be hated hated by those in rebellion. But as Elohim did with the brothers of Yoseph, the sovereignty of the Most High will oversee all the affects of the resulting resulting persecution. And while it has already already been indicated in a footnote, it is of great importance to note the sheaf of Yoseph arose and stood upright .

The three-letter, short-form of the Name is “ why/Yahu- ”. In Psalm 81:3 we read, not Yo-seph (Powy), but (Powhy), Yahu-seph. 47 This word for “more” has the same Hebrew root as the name of Yoseph ( Powy). 48 upright = yashar = rSy. The Hebrew word for upright is  yashar (  yashar ( rSy ). And it is more than than interesting to note the total sum of this word. The misparim value of  yashar is  yashar is 510: (mv) 510 = (200)

The Spirit revealing that because Yoseph walked in uprightness ( rSy/yashar)—   because he stood uprightly uprightly through faith in hwhy, even in the midst of immense trials and persecution—he was eventually (though not immediately) exalted to  stand as  stand as a sovereign ruler in the courts of Egypt: The sheaf representing Yoseph was 50  said to rise and to stand/remain standing standing upright. And Yoseph was subsequently exalted (rising up) to not only rule over the heathen, heathen , but to rule over his brothers in precise fulfillment of his first dream! But we must take special note that it was through his uprightness that hwhy continually exalted Yoseph to rule on a greater and greater greater level. Both Yoseph and Daniel Daniel are examples of how a 51 throne is established by righteousness; righteousness ; both men walked in uprightness before being 52 exalted by Elohim to rule in righteousness over others. When the severe, Middle East famine later compelled Ya’acov to send the ten brothers 53 54 of Yoseph to buy food in Egypt, and when those ten bowed before him, his first dream had still not been completely fulfilled; for this dream required all of his brothers 55 to bow before him. As difficult as it may have been for Yoseph to contain himself, he allowed the Word of  hwhy to be his guide. So Yoseph orchestrated orchestrated the retrieval of  Binyamin, the youngest. youngest. And in the process, he worked worked to bring his brothers brothers to repentance:

Even as he had been sold by his brothers for  twenty pieces of  silver   silver , Yoseph used silver  used silver (in (in various forms) 56 to call to account those who had betrayed him. 57

When Benjamin finally came to Egypt, all eleven sheaves would bow before Yoseph. His first dream had been fulfilled and Yoseph could then reveal himself to his brothers. What a moving occasion this became as the true identity of the ruler of Egypt was revealed! Yoseph was alive! He had been promoted promoted to rule rule over Egypt Egypt by the 58 Sovereign Hand of the Most High Elohim! His first dream had been fulfilled! fulfilled! The Word of hwhy had come to pass! Yoseph had had risen and stood upright! And hwhy would use this faithful man to preserve alive the seed of Ya’acov (and Abraham) in the midst of a terrible famine as they found refuge in the supply of grain (overseen by 59 none other than Yoseph) in that foreign land. Yoseph’s Second Dream At some later point (while still a youth in his father’s house), Yoseph was given a second dream, and he also relayed this revelation to his brothers and his father. 9 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it to his brothers, and said, Behold, I have dreamed yet a dream: and, behold, the sun and  the moon and eleven stars bowed down to me. 10 And he told it to his father, and to his brothers; and his father rebuked him, and said to him, What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall I, and your mother, and your brothers indeed come to bow down ourselves to you to the earth? 11 And his brothers envied him; but his father kept the word. B’reshit/Genesis 37:9-11

For some years now, the Spirit has continued to confirm that since Yoseph’s mother, 60 Rachel, was already dead when this vision was given, the patriarch’s second dream can only be a reference to his greatness and reward in the the First Resurrection. For it was not possible that Rachel, who had long since died, could bow down to her son on this side of eternity. This being the case, the above above Scripture becomes one of the strongest texts in the Torah and Prophets that prove the reality of the resurrection from the dead. Because others have wondered if the if  the mother here mother  here mentioned could have  been referring to Leah, the other other wife of Ya’acov, it seems necessary necessary to further explain why this second dream must refer to Yoseph’s reward and greatness (as an exalted, Melchitzedek Priest) in the Resurrection.

1. The Splendor of the Sun, Moon, and Stars The language and concepts used as Yoseph describes his second dream are used elsewhere to describe post-resurrection events: • The use of the sun, moon and stars, to describe Ya'acov, Rachel, and the eleven  brothers. Sha’ul, the emissary, would would later write of how a mortal mortal body sown in 61 corruption (buried in the earth ) would later be raised to incorruption in the resurrection, and he there indicated that it will shine with the splendor of a heavenly  body (one like the sun, another like the moon, and still others like like the stars): 36 You simple one, that which you sow is not made alive, unless it dies: 37 And that which you sow, you sow not that body that   shall be, but a bare grain, perhaps of wheat, or of some other  62  grain: 38 But Elohim gives it a body as it has pleased Him, and  to every seed its own body. 39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but  there is one flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fish, and another of birds. 40 There are also celestial bodies, and  bodies terrestrial: but the splendor of the celestial is one, and of  the terrestrial is another. 41 There is one splendor of the  sun , and another splendor of the  moon , and another splendor of the  stars:  stars: for one star differs from another star in splendor. 42 So also is the resurrection the  resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: 43 It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in  splendor: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: 44 It is  sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 1Corinthians 15:3644 Still referring to the resurrection, r esurrection, recall how Yochanan (John) wrote of having seen the resurrected Messiah and His face was “like the Sun shining in its strength:”  And He had in His His right hand seven stars: and out  of His mouth proceeded a sharp two-edged sword: and   His countenance was was as the sun shining in his strength. Revelation 1:16 And eSwhy promised those who overcome would shine like the sun in their Father’s Kingdom: Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the Kingdom of their Father.  He that has ears, let let him hear. They Will Bow Down Before You According to his dream, the sun, moon, and eleven stars will bow down before Yoseph. Once more, referring to the greatness/reward greatness/reward of overcoming believers believers in the First Resurrection, the Messiah promises the following: 9 Behold, I give of the synagogue of Satan, of those that say they are Yahudim (Jews), and they are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and bow down before  your feet, and to know that I have loved loved you. Revelation 3:9 While no one should think Ya’acov, Rachel, and Yoseph’s eleven brothers were of the synagogue of Satan, we still see from this text how those believers who overcome through suffering will be greatly honored with the the Messiah in the Resurrection. Resurrection. They will have attained to positions of rule, greatness, and widespread, public prominence. In his second dream, Yoseph was promised to be among this exalted group of priestly, Melchitzedek rulers; he will be a king-priest after the the order of Melchitzedek. The Scriptures indicate Yoseph clung to that Word and promise of  hwhy throughout his saga of severe and extended suffering which began at the time he was betrayed and sold as a slave by his brothers: 17 He sent a man before them: Yoseph was sold for a servant: 18 whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron: 19 until the time that His word came: the Word of  hwhy tried him. 20 The king sent and loosed him; the ruler of the people, and let him go free. 21 He made him sovereign 63 of his house, and ruler of all his substance: 22 to bind his  princes at his pleasure; and teach his senators wisdom. wisdom. Psalm 105:16-22 It is interesting to note that Yoseph was not only made ruler over Egypt, but he was also given rule over the house of Pharaoh. 2. The Sufferings of the Messiah The Messiah was required to suffer suff er before He could enter into His splendor as the 64 High Priest after the order Melchitzedek. Due to the many reasons seen within this  present article, we assert that Yoseph Yoseph was a prophetic type of the Messiah. The Word of hwhy states that, if we suffer with Him, we shall also reign with Him: 11 Steadfast is the word: For if we died together—we will also 65 live together; 12 if we endure together   —we shall also reign reign together ... 2Timothy 2:11-12

And in advance of his being exalted to reign over Egypt, Yoseph did endure the sufferings of the Messiah: 66

• Yahudah/Judah was the one who suggested Yoseph should be sold to the caravan 67 and eight of the brothers would eventually conspire to sell him for 20 pieces of silver. 68 Yet it was Yahudah/Judah (Judas) who betrayed the Messiah for 30 pieces of silver.  Not coincidentally, coincidentally, Yahudah/Judas adds to exactly thirty in Hebrew: ←

• In Egypt, Yoseph suffered false witness and ingratitude although he had done no wrong to those those who had wronged him. Some of the Ways Yoseph  Fulfilled the Role Role of a Melchitzedek Priest The Prophet ♦ We have seen how Yoseph was blessed with the gift of prophecy. Whether it was his 74 own earthly exaltation to rule in Egypt, or whether it was his eventual exaltation to 75 rule in the First Resurrection, the Spirit of  hwhy revealed to Yoseph great things that would come to pass in the future. Yoseph’s prophetic understanding understanding of events to come was also seen in the lives lives of the cup bearer and the the baker: Each man had a verdict 76 rendered over his life in accordance with the interpretation given by Yoseph. Three days after the dreams occurred, the cup bearer was restored to his position before Pharaoh while the baker baker was executed. Of course, this was also the the case regarding those momentous seven years of plenty/abundance which were to be followed by seven years of a famine f amine of the worst magnitude: Yoseph correctly interpreted the 77  prophetic dreams of Pharaoh and so the patriarch was exalted exalted to rule over Egypt. In this position of rule, Yoseph was used by hwhy to prepare for a devastating famine and 78 to bless all the surrounding countries with life-giving life-giving sustenance: sustenance: Egypt stored much grain in advance of the seven years of famine and many nations and peoples were  preserved alive across the harsh harsh and extensive dearth. ♦

The Suffering Servant ♦ We have seen how Yoseph suffered for bearing witness to the truth; his prophetic dreams were a significant part of the reason he suffered persecution at the hands of his 79  brothers. But Yoseph also suffered persecution at the hands of his brothers because of  80 the favor which his father had bestowed upon him. This is not unlike the Messiah, 81 who was the object of the most immense outpouring of favor from His Father; yet it was this very favor which allowed eSwhy to do such great things—for which He was 82 83  persecuted by the Yahudim/Jews Yahudim/Jews and their leaders. And on many occasions, they sought to slay Him in a jealous hatred filled with false, unfounded, and misaligned 84 religious zeal. ♦

The Messenger, the Shepherd of the Sheep, and the Ruling Priest ♦ We see Yoseph acted as the messenger for Ya’acov; he brought reports of his brothers 85 to their father. He was sent to inquire after the well-being of the older ten as well as 86 their flock  (which was really the father’s flock). This is much like the the Messiah, who 87 was/is the Messenger of the Covenant. The Messiah was sent by the Father to 88 89 inquire after the well-being of the flock, to shepherd the people, and to gather the 90 91 outcasts of Yisrael (even as hwhy gathered Jephthah of old ). For this, eSwhy was 92  persecuted. Yet the messenger and the shepherd acted as the go-between and expressed great care for the flock. It became evident that, that, like the Messiah who would come after Him, Yoseph loved and cared car ed for all his brothers and he sought to bring 93 them back to Elohim and to unify them with one another. And this brings us to another aspect of the many amazing things about the misparim of Yoseph’s name; as we have already seen, the number of his name is 156: ♦

Genesis 48:14-16, 20 Because Yoseph unified (13) Yisrael in Egypt and because his two sons became part of  the tribes of Yisrael (wherein 12 became 13 and 13 became 12), we believe it is not a coincidence that Yoseph (156) is a multiple of 12 with 13 :

12 x 13 = 156. This is an inspired result that displays the great sovereignty and foreknowledge of  hwhy El Shaddai and His choice of Yoseph and his descendants! Rule in the Midst of Your Enemies! ♦ The nature of a Melchitzedek Priest is that such a person learns to rule in the midst of  the enemies by which he/she is surrounded. When Abram returned from his slaughter  slaughter  98 of those kings who had kidnapped Lot, we read what Melchitzedek (King of Salem ) said as he blessed the patriarch: ♦

18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought   forth bread and wine: and and he was priest of El Elyon. Elyon. 19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of El Elyon,  Possessor of heaven and earth: 20 20 and blessed be El Elyon, Elyon, who has delivered your enemies into your hand … hand  … Genesis 14:18-20 Tehillim 110 continues this same thought and it speaks of ruling r uling over one’s enemies in a very similar fashion: hwhy will send forth the rod of your   strength out of Tziyon; rule Tziyon; rule in  the midst of your your enemies. enemies. Only by Heavenly-ordained favor and Elohim-given strength can we prevail and rule in the midst of our enemies enemies in a way that magnifies the the Most High. This is strength to endure (and even to thrive) that can only come from the Presence of  hwhy. And do we see Yoseph ruling in the midst of his enemies? enemies? We do. Though hated hated and wrongfully condemned and/or persecuted, Yoseph was exalted time after time: • He was exalted in the house of his father Ya’acov, even though hated by his brothers. • He was exalted in the house of his master, Potiphar, and set in charge over all. • He was exalted in the prison-house, and set in charge over all. • He was exalted in the house of Pharaoh, being set in charge over all his house and over all the land of Egypt. And that hwhy  strengthened Yoseph  strengthened Yoseph through his times of extended suffering was something expressly known and stated by his father, Ya’acov: 22 Yoseph is a fruitful bough, a fruitful bough by a fountain; his branches run over the wall. 23 The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at  him, and persecuted him: 24 But his bow abode in strength , and the arms of his hands were  made strong , by the hands of the Mighty One of  Ya’acov, (from thence is the Shepherd, the Stone of Yisrael), 25 even by the Elohim of your father, who shall help you , and by Shaddai, who shall   bless you … Genesis 49:22-25 That hwhy strengthened Yoseph out of Tziyon  becomes apparent when we we compare the misparim of Yoseph’s name with that that of “Tziyon.” As we have already seen, seen, the name of Yoseph adds to 156: 99

Yoseph was ruling in the the midst of his Gentile enemies; enemies; his character and integrity led to the patriarch being given the rule over people who are generally hostile towards Elohim and His Torah. And yet, even after Yoseph Yoseph was falsely accused and imprisoned, the very same power to rule was given to him in his incarceration: 20 And Yoseph’s master took him, and put him into the prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison. 21 But  hwhy  was with Yoseph, and showed  kindness to him, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of  the prison. 22  And the keeper of the prison committed to Yoseph’s hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and  whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it. 23 The keeper of  the prison looked not to anything that was under his hand, because hwhy was with him; and  that  ,  that which he did   made it  to prosper. prosper. Genesis 39:20-23 Of course, as Yoseph remained faithful and upright in what he had already been given, an even greater exaltation would soon come upon him, and this son of Abraham would eventually be exalted to rule in the midst of a very great throng of his enemies. Yoseph would soon be ruling over  all Egypt and Egypt and over all the peoples of many m any other  nations; for the surrounding countries would soon come to him for food in the midst of  a terrible, land-ravaging famine. famine. But we should not get too far too fast. By comparing the wording of the above texts with that of  Tehillim/Psalms 1, 1 , we believe the Word shows us Yoseph was exalted to  prosper  because  because of his day and night night meditations on the ways of  hwhy:  Blessed is the man that does not walk in the counsel of the lawless, and in the way of sinners does not stand, and in the seat of scoffers does not sit. 2 But in the Torah of  hwhy is his delight, and in His Torah he meditates by day and night. 3 And he shall become like a tree planted by the streams of

water, that its fruits gives in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and  101 whatsoever he does, He prospers. Tehillim/Psalms 1:1-3 Our prayers should be of a meditative quality as we bow bow before the Most High. Since hwhy is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or  think ,102 the Word indicates we should be doing much more  prayer-related thinking in His Presence than most people might realize: We should think  about how His Word and His promises relate to our   petitions; we should think  about how His powerful sovereignty is well able to answer our prayers in an infinite number of ways; and we should certainly think about think about how His responses to our petitions will eventually be revealed to be far, far beyond anything we could have ever imagined as we witness the answers to our prayers unfolding, not only in this life, but 103 across the ages to come. And all of this asking and asking and thinking should thinking should occur in His Presence as we bow in prayer   before the Throne of Favor. 104

The Messiah calls us to reign in this life in the midst of our enemies. And this Yoseph did in an exemplary fashion by being a vessel of kindness/mercy and forgiveness as he walked in emunah —that unwavering belief belief and expectation in the greatness and all-powerful, overriding will of a Sovereign Elohim and All-Loving, Faithful Creator. And we may be confident confident Yoseph will appear before before Elohim in 105 Tziyon as one who overcame. Through prayer, faith, and continual meditation, Yoseph bore up under unjust unjust suffering. The Messiah suffered in like manner, manner, and we 106 are called to follow in His footsteps. Like the Messiah—who made intercession for  the transgressors—Yoseph acted as an intercessor for his brothers and led them to repentance, bringing them them back to Elohim. And Yoseph lived out out his days by feeding the sheep and nourishing all Yisrael in the land of Egypt: 19 And Yoseph said to them, Fear not: for am I  in the place of Elohim? 20 But as for you, you thought evil  against me; Elohim meant it for good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save alive many people. 21 Now therefore do not fear:  I will nourish you,  and your little ones ones.. And he comforted them, and spoke kindly to them. 22 And Yoseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father’s house: and Yoseph lived a hundred and ten years. Genesis 50:19-22 101

While Yoseph prophetically fulfilled the Messianic/Melchitzedek role of  the of  the Lamb —   picturing the Messiah as the the Meek and Suffering Servant—another man man would follow, and he would fulfill the Messianic/Melchitzedek role of  the of  the Lion —picturing the 107 Messiah as the Invincible and Conquering  King of Righteousness Righteousness,, subduing kingdoms and establishing establishing Yisrael in the Land of of Promise. This man was Yehoshua  ben Nun, of the tribe of of Ephrayim—making him a direct descendant descendant of Yoseph! Yehoshua ben Nun (Joshua): The Lion: The Conquering Prophet and King Some of the Ways Yehoshua Fulfilled the Role of a Melchitzedek Priest The Successor of Mosheh ♦ The successor of Mosheh was not a Levite; he was Yehoshua ben Nun, of the tribe of  Ephrayim. This made him a descendant of Yoseph! We know Yehoshua (Yahoshua/Joshua) was of this tribe because of the list of men chosen to spy out the Land of Promise: ♦

3 And Mosheh sent them from the wilderness of Paran according  to the commandment of  hwhy : all of them men who were heads of  the children of Yisrael. 4 And these were wer e their names … 8 Of the tribe of Ephrayim, Hoshea Ephrayim,  Hoshea the son of Nun … 16 And Mosheh called   Hoshea, the son of Nun, Nun, Yehoshua. Yehoshua .  Numbers 13:4-6,8,16 108

And beside the fact that Yehoshua lived to be 110 years of age, age , we have still other  indicators his life was a prophetic picture of the Messiah—who will someday rule the nations with a rod of of iron as a Melchitzedek King-Priest. King-Priest. Yehoshua ben Num was was the immediate successor of successor  of Mosheh while eswhy the Messiah—bearing the very same Hebrew Name as Yehoshua—was the Ultimate Successor of Mosheh. Mosheh. Of that Prophet who would succeed him, the Spirit of  hwhy spoke this prophecy through Mosheh: 15 hwhy  your Elohim will raise up for you a Prophet from the midst of   you, of your brothers, like unto me; unto Him you shall hearken; 16  according to all that you desired of  hwhy  your  your Elohim in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of  hwhy  my  Elohim, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not. 17 And  hwhy  said to me, They have well said that which they have spoken. 18 I  will raise them up a Prophet from among their brothers, like unto you, and will put My words in His mouth; and He shall speak to them all that I   shall command Him. 19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever whosoever will not  hearken unto My words which He shall speak in My Name, I will require it of him. Although this Scripture ultimately speaks of the Messiah, we must also realize the  prophet Yehoshua was Mosheh’s Mosheh’s immediate successor and successor  and hwhy did require it of all those who failed to give heed to the new new commander of the armies of Yisrael. We see this through the prophetic Word spoken more than once by this ancient leader of our  nation. ♦ The Prophet and the Conquering King ♦ Giving Prophetic Warnings and Working Signs in the Sun and Moon The Conquest of Yericho/Jericho Just prior to the conquest of Yericho, Yehoshua had strictly warned the people to hoard 109 nothing for themselves which had been devoted to destruction. Achan disobeyed 110 and hwhy required it of him. him. Achan and family family were stoned for their sin. In the Day of His wrath, the Messiah will smite through the lawless kings of the earth along with all others others who have refused to repent repent of lawlessness. In the days of old, Yehoshua was the leader of Yisrael who smote through kings in the day of wrath as hwhy punished the inhabitants of Canaan for their rampant sins against His Kingdom. Even so, Yehoshua ben Nun was only a forerunner of the Messiah-Melchitzedek Priest who will soon cause Yisrael to once again inherit the Land of Promise (in an uncontested fashion) and exalt His people to bear rule over all the earth. The Shepherd of the Sheep ♦ Yehoshua was the shepherd of the sheep of Yisrael; he not only led them in battle 134 against the enemy, but the successor of Mosheh fulfilled the role of a Melchitzedek/king-priest by being the spiritual leader and directing the hearts of the people into the True Worship of  hwhy via the Torah of Elohim and His righteousness therein revealed. ♦

Yet there is far more in the prophetic Word of  hwhy regarding this most instructive and all-important matter:  Not only does Tehillim/Psalms 110 speak exclusively of  the Melchitzedek Priesthood, but the Hebrew misparim/numbers reveal time and time again that the number  110 bears 110 bears incredible significance significance regarding the Messiah and His exaltation to rule as Ha’Cohen Ha’Gadol—  the Great Priest in this Heavenly-Ordained Priesthood. And in the category of tangible of  tangible,, one of the main things which can be found in the Torah and Prophets—and something in which His people should have immense joy and exultation—is a built-in Commentary Inspired by the Mighty Hand and Sovereign Design of the Infinite Mind of the Most High. 151

Because the Hebrew letters have number values, by adding up the individual values of letters, each Hebrew word word would then have a total value. We have seen the Spirit has inspired many instructive connections over various Hebrew words and phrases which add to the equivalent sum. Across a period of several years, the Spirit revealed many of these profound number connections over  Psalm over  Psalm 110 and the Melchitzedek  Priesthood. In His ruling position as the great Melchitzedek Priest, the Messiah shines the light of  the Torah on His people, people, Yisrael, as never before. His ongoing promise is to show us more of the of the Name and the love of the Father, revealing that love in and through our  lives by the Spirit of Elohim. Elohim. The Messiah does this by teaching teaching us the living words words of  the Father’s Torah with great light and splendor in the Spirit. There is also a great, prophetic connection with these times of consecration and the Passover! Not only only were the Levites Levites washed by washed by Mosheh with water, but Mosheh was also required to prepare many unleavened foods for the first day of the  seven-day 222 consecration. consecration. Besides being accompanied by unleavened bread, there were other  things about this time time that mirrored Passover: During this seven-day period, period, the priests 223 were to remain in the very presence of  hwhy. And also like the Passover, the things eaten in the first night were to be burnt with fire, if anything was left over until the 224 morning of the next day. This period in which the Tabernacle and the Priesthood were set apart occurred on the first seven days of the first month and so, it led into the 225 time of Pesach. And yet, there is to be an even greater,  still future fulfillment of the foot washing which was done by eswhy at the Last Supper. This momentous occasion was mentioned by the Messiah at two different times—both of which bring forth a  prophetic revelation of a great, future event that will, once more, precede the the Feast of  Passover: the cleansing, cleansing, consecration, consecration, and inauguration of the priesthood. shows us that, to walk as He walked, we must sojourn toward His Kingdom with times 261 of continual fasting, prayer, and seeking His Face. And we are also called to bear  262 the burdens of others through times of fasting, prayer, and intercession. As we minister/serve before hwhy through such times of seeking His Face, we will also begin to walk in useful service to our fellow man and will more fully partake with the Messiah in His Melchitzedek Priesthood.  Meditation on the Torah Prayer/meditation, fasting, and alms are the pillars of a life which is given in useful service to the Elohim of Yisrael. Yisrael. The numerous meditations which we have before the Presence of hwhy, in prayer, are to continue throughout the day as we engage in ongoing meditation on His Torah both day and night. Referring to  Psalm 1, 1, the emissary Sha’ul wrote these lines: 266

… “and do not be conformed to this world, 267 but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2 268

Sha’ul had earlier referred to the Torah as the Law of his mind , mind , and rightly so, since the promise of the New Covenant was that hwhy would write His Laws on our hearts 269 and minds by His Spirit dwelling within us. When Yehoshua was commissioned by hwhy, continual meditation 270 on the Torah was enjoined as one of the foremost requirements in the charge. All the faithful of every age have walked in the Law of  hwhy, and meditation on His precepts is of such vital importance that an entire psalm 271 was dedicated to the value of keeping His Word close to our hearts and minds, even in dire and troubling times. times. and ultimately to eSwhy the Messiah—in whose heart the Law of  hwhy continually  burned with love and zeal. Clearly, meditation upon the Torah is a requirement requirement for any who aspire to be a king-priest after the Order of Melchitzedek. The Sacrifice of Praise: Offering the Fruit of Lips that Give Thanks to His Name The Book The Book of Hebrews speaks much of the Messiah and the Melchitzedek Priesthood. We have seen that a life l ife characterized by prayer and fasting defines the ministryservice of those operating under/within under/within the Melchitzedek Melchitzedek Priesthood. Daniel fasted and prayed for three weeks and was used of  hwhy in a great conflict that 304  brought about a significant significant change/victory change/victory in the heavens. Yet this victory in the 305 heavens then led to a significant change and revelation occurring upon the earth. And the whole incident not only shows us the importance of pr ayer with fasting, but it adds much understanding to the words of Sha’ul, who wrote that our struggle is not 306 against blood and flesh, but against dark, spiritual forces in the heavens. No one should live under the false premise that they will win this battle apart from prayer and fasting and the readiness to do the will of the Most Most High. This Book of the Torah Our Mashiach has clearly stated—and without speaking words in hidden parable—that the Torah of  hwhy will be the Standard in Standard  in determining who shall obtain reward and greatness in the coming Millennial Kingdom: 17 Think not that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets: I came not  to destroy, but to fulfill. 18 For amein I say to you, Till heaven and earth  pass away, one jot or one tittle shall shall in no wise pass away from the Torah, till all things are accomplished. 19 Whoever, therefore, shall break one of  these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least  in the Kingdom of Heaven: but whoever shall do and teach them, he shall  be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. 20 For I say to you, that except   your righteousness shall exceed that of the scribes and Pharisees, you  shall in no wise enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. The End of All Things is Near The Kingdom of Heaven is about to come to this this Earth in a new and living living way.
