Press Information Department-PID is a name of repute in the media arena of Bangladesh. It is a government organization under the Ministry of Information which manages dissemination of official information to media outlets in digital formats for the consumption of people at large.
PID provides services to the electronic, print and on-line media in the form of handouts, photos, features and articles for broadcasting and publishing as news items and reports for people belonging to all strata of society. Bringing out PID Telephone Guide on a regular basis has been another enormous task carried out by this department. PID has published 19 editions of the Telephone Guide till the last one. Its demand and necessity have been the driving force behind the publications since its inception. In each edition important telephone numbers including President ’s Office, Prime Minister’ s Office, National Parliament Secretariat, different ministries, government organizations, divisional and district level important offices, diplomatic crops, different print and electronic media of home and abroad were incorporated. The last edition (19 th) was published in 2014. Now the 20th edition of this guide becomes essential as many of the telephone numbers, addresses, designations of the officers/ representatives have already been changed. This year, the Telephone Guide is coming out in a different and improved format. We appreciate the cooperation of those organizations which sent information for the guide on time, regret for those who failed to send facts within the stipulated time. I, however, take responsibility for the inadvertent mistakes and incompleteness, if any, that may have crept into the volume. Nevertheless, I invite all concerned to provide more inputs and suggestions to improve it further in the future. I express my gratitude to the officers and officials who have devoted themselves fully in bringing out the Telephone Guide successfully. Dhaka, 25 April 2017
