3. Standby Operation (2) TC-P42/50S60 When the TV is plugged in: AC is applied to the standby circuit in the PSS board to produce STB5V. The STB5V is provided to the A board via pin 22 of connector P6. The STB5V from pin 22 of connector A6A is applied to the Analog ASIC (IC5000) The Analog ASIC IC5000 converts the STB5V to STB3.3V. This voltage energizes and prepare the microprocessor (CPU) IC8000 for program execution. The STB3.3V from the Analog ASIC (IC5000), besides being applied to the CPU, is also applied to the remote control receiver on the K board through pin 5 of connector A1/K10. The microprocessor (IC8000) outputs the “F_STBY_ON” command for less than a second. This command is applied to the PSS for F15V generation. The F15V is generated for the same duration of the command. If the STB5V is missing, the TV is dead.

4. Start up Operation (4) 1
When the TV is plugged in: AC plug voltage is applied to the power circuit (Filter, Rectifier, PFC, DC/DC converter). Then this power circuit outputs DC voltage to other DC/DC circuits.
2
The DC/DC circuit produces the STB5V and 15V. The 15V is outputted to the SW. The STB5V is provided to the ASIC (IC5000) on the A board via connectors P6/A6.
3
The Analog ASIC IC5000 converts the STB5V to STB3.3V. The STB3.3V prepares the micro processor (IC8000) for program execution. And the STB3.3V is supplied to POWER LED / REMOTE RECEIVER on K board.
4
5
1)Press the power switch on the TV. 2)Press the Power switch on the remote controller. After finishing these 2 process, TV unit will start working. The “Power Switch” signal is reached at IC8000 via A31 connector. ON command from remote controller is received at K board. The K board sends “REMOTE IN” command to IC8000 via A1 connector.
If the micro processor (IC8000) detected “RMIN signal” or “Power Switch signal”, it sends the TV_SUB_ON signal to the power micom via P6 connector.
Slide 26
4. Start up Operation (5) 6
The signal from the power micom turns on the switching transistor Q500. This allow F15V to be output to the DC/DC circuit on the A board. The F15V is supplied to IC8100, IC8101, IC8704 and IC8705.
7 The voltages from these ICs are distributed to the different circuits where they’re used. 8 Next, the micro processor (IC8000) outputs PANEL_MAIN_ON signal to the power micom. 9
10
11
The power micom outputs two switching switching signals. - One signal enables SW 502 to pass the P15V - The other signal enables DC/DC circuit to produce Vsus and Vda voltages.
The P15V is applied to the SN/SC/SS board. The VSUS is applied to SN/SC/SS board. The Vda is applied to C board.

5.SOS Detect Circuit Explanation (2) SOS Precautions When an abnormality occurs in the unit, the “SOS Detect” circuit is triggered and the TV shuts down. The power LED on the front panel flashes a pattern indicating the circuit that has failed. Cautions: If the power LED continues to blink even after the TV is unplugged, press and hold the power switch on the TV for a few seconds until the LED turns off. Some steps require removal of connectors and sometimes PC boards removal. Do not allow the TV to run for more than 30 seconds while connectors or boards are disconnected. NOTE: When taking voltage reading, place your meter’s probe on the test point or pin indicated before connecting the TV to the AC line. The voltage you intent to measure may only appear for a brief moment.
Warning: The Vsus line has large capacitors that hold the charge for some time even after the TV has been turned off and unplugged. When disconnecting P2/SC2 or P11/SS11, bleed the remaining charge of the Vsus before reconnecting the cable. Use a 500 ohms/ 5W (At least) resistor to discharge the Vsus line before reconnecting P2/SC2 or P11/SS11.
Slide 30
5.SOS Detect Circuit Explanation (3) SOS Detect Circuit Protection circuits are incorporated in the unit to prevent the failure of a single circuit or component from creating catastrophic damage. A shutdown condition occurs when there is an over voltage, a short or a drop in any of the voltage lines. The processor (IC8000) detect when a shutdown condition has been triggered. When an abnormality has occurred, the unit’s protection circuit operates and the TV is reset to the standby mode. At this time, the defective block can be identified by the number of blinks of the POWER LED on the front of the unit. The number of times that the POWER LED blinks indicates the areas where a problem is suspected. Blinks

The IC9300 has the discharge control circuit (DCC) function. If the IC9300 detects internal error, the chip generates the SOS_DCC signal causing the unit shutdown and the power LED to blink 9 times. And the signal is outputted to the IC5000.
