Reading 1 Tell students you are going to read about a very famous British chef called Jamie Oliver. Ask students if they have seen any of his programmes on TV. Tell students that he is also famous for helping people. He opened a restaurant in London to give unemployed young people a chance to have a better future by training them as chefs. Students read the text the first time and answer the questions.

Warm-up Ask the class if they followed the Olympic Games celebrated in London 2012. Ask students if they remember any important events. Write some questions about the Olympic Games or sports in general on the blackboard. Ask students to ask each other the questions, for example: How many medals did Spain win in the London Olympics? How many gold medals? How many world records were broken?
Reading 1 Show the class some pictures of different sports. If possible, show them pictures of ancient sports, for example in Greek or Roman times. Ask students if they recognise the sports. Point to the text and the pictures and tell students that they are going to read a text about the Ancient Olympic Games celebrated in Ancient Greece. Students read the text and underline the words and expressions related to sport.
