The Hair & Beauty industry is a very exciting and always evolving industry that offers a great career to those who are looking for more than ‘just a job’. As the founder and Director of Katrinas School of Hair and Beauty I would like to extend an invitation for you to visit one of our schools. History Katrinas School of Hair & Beauty was established by Katrina Gilligan - a multi-award winning Business woman and experienced Beauty Therapist. Katrina has a very successful chain of Beauty Salons Katrinas Beauty Works. Katrinas School of Hair & Beauty grew out of a desire to put something back into the industry. Katrina is passionate about improving the standard of Beauty Therapy training on offer.

Our friendly and dedicated staff aim to ensure classes at Katrinas School of Hair & Beauty are interesting and appealing to all styles of learning. On salon days you will perform all the day to day activities that are expected in the Hair & Beauty Industry including consulting clients, reception, retailing products, merchandising stock, providing treatments to the public, re-booking and cleaning. Salon days are busy and exciting as you get to put into practice the theory and practical skills you have learnt in the classroom.

Y wll la wk wh h la machy Depending on the course you undertake, for Beauty Therapy you will learn to use a huge range of beauty machinery including Brush Machine, Vaporzones, Galvanic, High frequency, Faradic, Microdermabrasion, Dermatherapy, Spray-tan and Vichy Shower. For Hairdressing you will learn to work with general equipment found within a salon environment, including steamers, dryers and rollerballs.

Diploma Beauty students are given the opportunity to learn in Hair, Nails and Beauty today such as Tooth Gems, Eye lash extensions and more. Hair students are introduced to Keratin smoothing treatments and others.

Paccal kll We place particular focus on training our students thoroughly in their practical skills. Practical skills are taught through demonstration and step by step learning. Beauty Students will rst begin performing treatments on your classmates and then progress to working on clients in the student salon. Hairdressing students will rst begin performing services on Head blocks and then classmate and then progress to working on clients.
thy For each practical skill you learn there is extensive theory that must be covered to ensure you can perform treatments safely and efciently. We make our theory classes as interesting and interactive as possible. Theory lessons usually involve weekly homework and revision quizzes.

Your Choice of Campus Katrinas School of Hair & Beauty currently has two campuses catering for students all over Queensland. Each campus is located close to public transport, shops and both have nearby free student parking. The Campuses are modern, fully air-conditioned and each has been beautifully designed with large open theory and practical rooms. A student lunch room with full kitchen, fridge, microwave and storage area are also provided for students.

Study the Way it Suits You! BeAutY students We provide a variety of ways you can achieve your Beauty Therapy qualications. This exibility ensures that our courses are suited to people of all walks of life. You might choose to spend the year studying or to continue working while you are studying. If you live a long way from our campuses you may prefer to study by correspondence. Depending on the course you choose, we offer a variety of options. You will need to contact the school for full details. Fll tm Our full time course involves attending three days per week, providing students with valuable face-to-face training. We believe this is the optimum way to learn Beauty Therapy as students are able to receive more supervision while rening their skills, access the schools resources and can build supportive relationships with other students studying with them. Most students nd they are also able to commit to a part-time job on the days they do not attend the course, allowing them to nance their studies.
HAirdressinG students We provide hairdressing qualications as full time study or VET options. You will need to contact the school for full details. Fll tm Our full time course involves attending four days per week. Full time study provides students with valuable face-to-face training. We believe this is the optimum way to learn Hairdressing as students are able to receive more supervision while rening their skills, are able to access the schools resources and can build supportive relationships with other students studying with them. Most students nd they are also able to commit to a part-time job on the days they do not attend the course, allowing them to nance their studies. Pa tm Our part time course involves two evenings per week and every second Saturday. This may vary depending on the course being undertaken. Part time study is a great option for those who wish to combine studying with working full time or with family commitments Cpc We offer a unique correspondence course with exible opportunities for you to attend your nearest campus for practical training blocks. This is an exciting introduction into Beauty Therapy training and includes skills in communication, grooming and personal care. (Refer to page 10).
Graduation - Time to Celebrate This is a very important part of our school year. It is a time when graduating students are rewarded with their qualications. You can invite special people in your life to come and watch as you are formally presented with your qualication. During the graduation ceremony we also present several school awards. These include Dux of the School, Student of the Year and several industry awards. Your graduation night is a fantastic way to farewell your peers and trainers and is certainly a night you will enjoy. Laughter and tears are shared by all on this memorable occasion.

Beauty & Nail Courses Diploma of Beauty Therapy SIB50110
Our most popular and highly recommended Beauty course is Diploma of Beauty Therapy. This is widely regarded in the Beauty Industry as the qualication most employers look for. Completing your Diploma will give you the widest range of job opportunities. The Diploma gives you an in depth knowledge of all areas of Beauty Therapy and is a great foundation if you are considering university studies in paramedical aesthetics. Areas of study include Anatomy and Physiology, Microdermabrasion, Waxing, Tinting, Manicures, Pedicures, Make-up, Spa Treatments, Massage, Facials, Spray Tanning, Reception Duties, Professionalism, Communication, Electrolysis and Diathermy, and much more. (See page 11 for a full list of subjects covered) As a bonus to our Diploma course, we also offer students an opportunity to learn some extra and NEW Beauty Treatments such as Tooth Gems, Eye Lash extensions and an Introduction to Cosmetic Physician Treatments. This course is offered: Full Time: approx 12 months 3 days per week Part Time: approx 16 months 2 nights per week and one day a fortnight Correspondence: 11 Self Paced Modules (See page 10).

Certifcate IV in Beauty Therapy SIB40110
This certicate course equips students with the knowledge and skills to become successful Beauty Therapists. Subjects include Waxing, Lash and Brow Treatments, Facial Treatments, Manicures, Pedicures, Make Up, Body Massage and much more. This is a very comprehensive course however we generally encourage students to complete the Diploma of Beauty Therapy to obtain a full knowledge of Beauty Therapy, as Certicate IV does not include Day Spa Studies, Electrolysis, Diathermy or any of the bonus subjects. (See page 11 for a full list of the subjects covered) This course is offered: Full Time: approx 9 months 3 days per week Part Time: approx 12 months 2 nights per week and one day a fortnight Correspondence: 10 Self Paced Modules (See page 10). *Please note: Students completing Diploma or Certicate IV may upgrade to include Certicate II in Nail Technology for a reduced price. We highly recommend this option as it increases your employment opportunities upon graduation. A skilled Beauty Therapist who can also perform nail enhancement services is highly sort after.

Students learn the knowledge and skills to become a successful Beautician and Nail Technician. Includes Waxing, Lash and Brow Treatments, Make-up, Acrylic and Gel Nail Enhancements, plus more. This is a very popular course for students who would enjoy specialising in nails but would also like to be able perform other services in a salon such as Waxing, Tinting and Make-up. This increases a nail students prospects for gaining employment. (See page 11 for a full list of subjects covered) This course is offered: Full Time: 3 days per week (approx 6 months) Part Time: 2 nights per week and every second Saturday (approx 12 months)
This is our popular and recommended nail course. This is a very extensive course providing thorough training in both theory and practical areas of nail studies. It includes Acrylic and Gel Nails as well as Electrical Nail Equipment, Manicures, Pedicures, Nail Art and a wide range of other subjects to enable students to gain knowledge to become a successful Nail Technician. This course is run regularly throughout the year and take approximately 6 months part time to complete. (See page 11 for a full list of subjects covered) This course is offered: Full Time: 1 day per week (approx 6 months) Part Time: 2 nights per week (approx 6 months)

Beauty by Correspondence - Pace Yourself Katrinas School of Hair & Beauty offers students a exible alternative to studying on campus. We provide a comprehensive correspondence study schedule, which will allow you to gain nationally recognised Accredited Beauty Therapy Qualications from home. We offer a program of 11 Modules for Diploma ideally completed over a period of 18 months. Students are also required to attend Four to Five on-campus training weeks depending on t he chosen course. Alternatively students who live in close proximity to either campus can attend practical days on a weekly or for tnightly basis.
We offer the option of attending either our Brisbane or Townsville campus to complete the practical requirements of the course. Practical training hours are a compulsory part of the course and will ensure you gain valuable hands on experience while studying your course. We understand the challenges of studying by correspondence and are committed to providing you with assistance you may require. Our administration staff and trainers are contactable 5 days per week by phone or any time by email. We can also give you details about accommodation in the area.
We offer Certicate IV in Beauty Therapy and Diploma f Bay thapy a cpc c. Your correspondence course can be started at any time convenient to you. The course contains 10 Modules for our Certicate IV in Beauty Therapy and 11 modules for our Diploma of Beauty Therapy. Each module is designed to take approximately 6 weeks to complete.

Many High Schools now provide students with an opportunity to attend a Vocational Educational Training (VET) course while still at school. If this is something of interest to you, you’ll need to check with your school to see if they offer this opportunity. Yes, the practical requirements of the course are met while participating in clinic salon days giving valuable salon work experience. Depending upon the course the student is enrolled in we may also suggest the placement for students to attend industry placements at the salon of their choice to gain further experience.

Where necessary, arrangements will be made for students requiring Literacy and/or Numeracy support. This will be out-sourced to the relevant qualied experts. Any fees incurred are the responsibility of the student. Recognition of Qualications issued by another RTO Katrinas School of Hair & Beauty recognises qualications issued by other Registered Training Organisations. If students want to have qualications recognised, they will need to submit certied copies of their certicates and transcripts to the school prior to enrolment.
rcogitio of Pio Laig (rPL), rcogitio of Cut Comptci (rCC) Students who have completed appropriate training or who through prior learning and experience have gained the required skills/competencies stipulated for the modules of the course may be granted credit upon substantiation of that claim. If a student wishes to apply for RPL/RCC then they must obtain an RPL/RCC form and complete it with their enrolment form and lodge it together. There is a fee for this process. rfud Katrinas School of Hair & Beauty offers a fair and exible refund policy. Student refunds are considered on a case by case basis. It is the student’s responsibility to make sure relevant documentation is completed and forwarded to the administration ofcer within the time frame required for each circumstance. There are no refunds issued after the commencement of a course. Students who begin courses are liable for the full amount of the course once the course commences. The orientation on the rst day of class outlines student services available. Any student who may suffer trauma or extreme matter outside of our expertise or control, we will make every attempt to refer the student to the relevant agency or expert.
