Preface The Reiju Attunement and Hatsu Rei Ho Meditation
Mikao Usui, founder of our Spiritual Healing Method, Usui Reiki Ryoho, was very big on meditations. Two in particular he encouraged his students to practice every day, the first is Hatsu Rei Ho, another is known as Gassho, which we will talk more about next week. Hatsu Rei Ho raises the vibration of energy flowing through you and helps you become more focused and relaxed. The Japanese word ‘Ho‘ means ‘technique ‘, so you will find it attached to a lot of Reiki techniques. ‘Hatsu’ means ‘start up’ and of course, ‘Rei’ is ‘Reiki’ ‘Hatsu Rei Ho’ is the meditation used to start or begin your Reiki path. It also introduces the Reiju, the Japanese word meaning "to accept or to give energy." Reiju is thought to be Mikao Usui's srcinal attunement. Reiju is still practiced in Japan today. We will begin each level with the Reiju attunement, and end each level with the more westernized attunements. To receive the Reiju attunement, please begin with Hatsu Rei Ho. This will draw divine love and light into your energy center. It also gives you time for peace, and then blesses all your actions with loving, wise energy. The first step is your intention to start Hatsu Rei Ho. Some follow with “Dry Bathing,” or Kenyoku which is a form of brushing your Aura. This removes any negative energy which may have been collected during normal daily activities. You should include Kenyoku before and after each attunement or treatment. Also, be sure to wash your hands and ensure your breath is fresh. To do Kenyoku or dry bathing:
Sit comfortably in your chair with your feet firmly on the ground •
Take three deep breaths and on the third breath
•
Place your right hand on your left shoulder
•
As you exhale, run your right hand across your body to your right hip.
•
Then take your left hand and place it on your right shoulder
•
As you exhale, run your left hand across your body to your left hip.
•
And once again, place your right hand on your left shoulder
•
As you exhale, run your right hand across your body to your right hip Now place your right hand on your left shoulder
•
As you breathe out, brush your hand down the length of your arm
•
•
Take your left hand and place it on your right shoulder
•
As you breath out, brush your hand down the length of your arm
•
Once again, place your right hand on your left shoulder
•
As you breathe out, brush your hand down the length of your arm
•
Now you can go on to prepare for Reiki or go about your daily life.
Sit or stand, with your back straight, hold your hands in the prayer position close to your chest. As you breathe in, visualize golden love and light come in through the top of your head and flow down to your stomach. Also, see this light coming through your hands into your heart chakra, then spreading to the rest of your body as you breathe in and out. Continue for a few minutes. When you feel ready to accept this Reiju attunement, rest your hands, palms up, on your thighs and say (aloud or in your mind) “As I begin my Reiki path, I accept Reiju which has been prepared by Mikao Usui Sensei, and channeled for my through Roger Nobles.” Continue to breathe deeply, feel the energy as it flows through your body refreshing empowering each cell, each organ. With this, you have completed Hatsu Rei Ho. If you stay focused, it should only take you about 7 minutes, so it can fit easily into your morning. Try doing it every day for a week and see if you feel different. If so, carry on doing it as often as you can and watch how your experience of life subtly transforms.
Gassho Meditation
Mikao Usui meditated for 21 days, and at the end of that time, he received the gift of Reiki. Our program is also 21 days long and I ask that we also actively meditate during this training period; using the Gassho Meditation. Many say Usui Sensei practiced Gassho meditation as a part of his personal Reiki regimen every day, twice a day. Gassho literally means, “Two hands coming together”. This meditation is simple and only takes 5 - 15 minutes each day. Put yourself in your usual meditation position, you can use the lotus position or just sit in a chair, keep your back straight. Relax, release your worries, allow your whole body and mind to relax.
Place your hands in prayer position in front of the heart chakra. If you leave a little gap between your hands, you can feel the energy, like sparks, jumping from hand to hand. Close your eyes Begin breathe in the Reiki energy through your nose As you exhale, visualize this energy flowing through your whole being; physical body, spiritual body, mental body and etheric body. Feel it flowing out around you in your chair. As you continue to breathe, feel it flowing into the room, then your home, or wherever you are, filling it with Reiki energy.
Feel the energy grow stronger as it flows outside your home and into the neighborhood. See it filling the region in which you reside and then beyond into the country, then whole globe and finally out into the cosmos. As the energy flows, see the flowers bloom, hear the birds sing, feel the kiss of a gentle breeze. See the power of Universal Love carried in the arms of Reiki Energy, Energy of Source; touch and caress everything, everyone, and everywhere. See all illness, all disease, all abuse, and all pain, as a dark cloud, will evaporate, dissolve, and transform. Do this for 5 to 15 minutes each day before each study period. You may also wish to meditate, to express gratitude as each day ends. As we are attuned to each level, you may wish to draw (in your mind or in the air) the power symbol or symbols you have learned for each level. Some variations you may wish to try are:
Listen to soft, inspiring music Chant a mantra Write a goal and ask for clarification to come to you through the sitting session Ask for guidance to come to you about an issue you are currently experiencing. I believe you will find continuing to use this meditation daily after the initial 21 day period will be very beneficial and enjoyable. Usui Reiki Level One Day One - Introduction
Hello and Welcome Whether you are beginning a new journey into the world of Reiki or revisiting, Welcome to Our Usui Reiki Ryoho program. If you have already read “The Reiju attunement and Hatsu Rei Ho Meditation” in the preface, please do the meditation and accept Reiju to really jumpstart your Reiki journey. That post mentioned 2 meditations that were most often used by Mikao Usui, when he began teaching this Spiritual Healing Method of Reiki. Of course, one is Hatsu Rei Ho, the start up meditation. The other is called Gassho; many say Usui Sensei practiced Gassho meditation as a part of his personal Reiki regimen every day, twice a day. Gassho literally means, “Two hands coming together,” and indicates how we will hold our hands in the prayer position near our heart Chakra. Youtube offers some examples of both meditations. I suggest that you start each day with one or both of these meditations and close each day the same way. Our Usui Reiki Ryoho Practitioner program is covered in 1 manual, combining Levels I, II, and III. The basic plan is to discuss each Level for 4 days, Monday - Thursday. Friday will be an exercise in healing using what we have learned to that point. Attunements will
be sent on Saturday, and each Sunday, we will do a group-healing share. At the end of the 3-week period, you will receive a digital certificate as a Usui Reiki Ryoho Master Practitioner. This healing support system is taught in three or four levels, which have been passed along from Reiki Master to student since Mikao Usui rediscovered it in 1922. Reiki Level I is the first exciting step of this wonderful healing energy. I’m much like the author of these guides; I see no difference between in person or distance teaching or attunements - Intent and focus are these keys is both techniques of teaching and attuning with the Reiki energy, Sacred energy. If the source of this energy were self or of a physical nature, then possibly physical presence would be necessary, but Source is Spirit, and Spirit does not know separation of distance or time. This would indicate that in person or distance, both work the same. Reiki Level I called Shoden in Japan, is taught to those that wish to learn to use the Reiki Energy. The class is taught by a Reiki Master trained to pass the attunements and teach Reiki. Traditional Usui Healing Systems use a set of four attunements. A Reiki I class material generally includes the hand positions used when doing Reiki on self and others, the Reiki principles, and the history of Reiki. You then receive the attunements. Once you have received the attunements you are a Reiki Practitioner. Whether you practice Reiki or not is your choice. Reiki Level II, called Okuden in Japan includes the three Reiki Symbols (Focus, Harmony, and Connection), Mental/Emotional Healing, Distant Healing, symbols use, meanings are taught, and the student receives one attunement. Level III called Shinpiden in Japan is the Master Practitioner Level of Reiki. The Usui Master Symbol, meaning and application is taught. This symbol completes the other three symbols taught at Level II. Some teach the Master level combining both Practitioner and Teacher as one level. Many others teach the Master level in two parts, Practitioner and Teacher. This program presents the Master program in two parts. This 21-day program teaches through the Master Practitioner level. For those who do wish to teach, We have a sister group offering a 21-day Usui Master Teacher Program, Level IV Master/Teacher, Shihan in Japanese -Mystic's Usui Reiki Master Teacher Free Training Program https://www.facebook.com/groups/545077428951329/
Introduction:
My name is Roger Nobles, I’m divorced, 1 daughter and 3 grandchildren, 2 boys and 1 girl, I’m retired from the U.S. Air Force following a 24 year career. Born in Alabama, and now live in Texas. I have 2 Associate degrees, one in computer science, and the other in print journalism with a lot of undergraduate and graduate work in Psychology, Sociology, and Research and Development of Communication. I've been called a master of tangents and my Spiritual journey may be indicative of that. For years I was a part time preacher, lay minister, with the Church of Christ. About 15 years ago, a fellow preacher asked if I would talk to his teenage daughter, about witchcraft. I've never been one to, criticize or critique something I knew nothing of, so I began a class in Wicca 101 and another in World Religions. What I learned changed my life, I became more open minded, more tolerant, and more spiritual rather than religious. I met a Lady in spirit at that time; she never shared a name so I know her as the Lady of the Mysts. She is my friend, best friend actually, Anam Cara - Soul Friend, she is my confident and my mentor. The connection to Reiki is the energy, universal or source energy. My Lady introduced me to this energy in its pure form and to another Lady in Physical form, also a best friend, Soul Friend, and Soul Kindred. Together we worked with the raw energy for healing, and to benefit all creation. Along the way someone mentioned a person, Dr. Mikao Usui and suggested that I should study his method of spiritual and energy healing, something he called Reiki. I did and here we are now. Now that you know me, I would like to know a little about each of you, so leave a comment with your name, State or Nation, and your experience with Reiki. If you have studied, what discipline, and what level attunements have you received. Have you ever experienced the Reiki’s healing energy? What do you expect to gain from this 21-day program? For those who wish to know, I have learned from two masters so I have a dual Lineage; the first is: Mikao Usui, Dr Chujiro Hyashi, Mrs. Hawayo Takata, Phyllis Lei Furumoto, Claudia Hoffman, Mary Shaw, Christine Henderson, Bruce Way, Neal Lyster, John Pickering, Martin Lee, Gary Steadman, Stephen Lovering, Chris Comish, Mahacita Bahuruci, Roger Nobles And the second is: Mikao Usui / Dr Chujiro Hyashi / Mrs. Hawayo Takata / Phyllis Lei Furumoto / Claudia Hoffman / Mary Shaw / Christine Henderson / Bruce Way / Neal Lyster / John Pickering / Martin Lee / Craig Farquharson / Ian Sadler / Roger Nobles Tomorrow, Reiki history is our main topic, along with the 5 principles. Usui Reiki Level One Day Two - What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced Ray Key) is a Japanese word consisting of two characters "Rei" and "Ki". Rei – is Japanese for spiritual or sacred. Rei represents the Holy Spirit, Mystery, Gift, Nature Spirit or Invisible Spirit. , Ki – is Japanese for energy. Ki represents the Physical Energy of Nature, Talent or Feelings. Reiki literally translates as Spiritual Energy and is the energy is from Source to Self, aligning both Physical and Spiritual bodies and planes. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing which taps into that pure source of Divine energy to be used for healing. While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, so there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. Although this Divine Energy has been around forever and many believe this form of energy healing was practiced in India and Tibet, hundreds if not thousands of years. However since many teachings were passed orally from generation to generation, the srcinal name and techniques were lost and “re-discovered” by Mikao Usui in 1922. Mikao Usui was born August 15, 1865 in Japan. He was an avid student, and spent many years on an intellectual journey. Then in February 1922, he went to Kurama yama to fast and meditate. There is a small waterfall on Kurama yama. During his meditation, he stood under the waterfall and let it flow over the top of the head to activate the crown chakra. Several days passed and he grew weaker and weaker. After twenty-one days, he said a powerful light entered his mind through the top of his head and felt like he had been struck by lightning; then he fell unconscious.
He said that when he woke up the next morning he was no longer weak or hungry but felt an extremely enjoyable state of vitality never felt before. He stated that a very strong feeling of spiritual energy replaced his normal consciousness with new level of awareness. He felt a part of the energy and consciousness of the Universe. He was so excited that he ran down the mountain but stubbed his toe on a rock and fell down. He grabbed the injured toe. As he did this, energy seemed to flow from his hands even without thought. The pain in his toe went away and the toe was healed. He realized that in addition to the illuminating experience he had received, he had also received the gift of healing. This was the birth of the healing system we now know as Reiki. http://www.reiki.org/faq/historyofreiki.html How Does Reiki work?
Reiki energy seems to have an intelligence of its own flowing where it is needed in the client and creating the healing conditions necessary for the individuals needs. Many of us believe the source or cause of health comes from the Ki/Life Energy that flows through and around us. Ki animates the physical organs and tissues as it flows through them creating a healthy condition. If the flow of Ki is disrupted, the physical organs and tissues will be affected. This disruption in the flow of Ki is the main cause of illness. Ki responds to our thoughts and feelings. It will flow more freely and strong or with a weaker flow depending on the quality of ones thoughts and feelings. Negative thoughts and feelings cause a restriction in the flow of Ki. The negative impact of stress on our health is widely recognized, even among the traditional medical practitioners. We also need to realize the mind exists not only in the brain, but also throughout the body. The nervous system extends to every organ and tissue in the body and so the mind exists here also. In fact the mind even extends outside the body in an energy field called the aura. Therefore, our negative thoughts are not just in the brain, but also collect in locations throughout the body and in the aura. The places where negative thoughts and feelings accumulate are where Ki’s flow is restricted. If the negative thoughts and feelings are not eliminated quickly, illness results. The great value of Reiki is that because it is guided by the Higher Intelligence, it knows exactly where to go and how to respond to restrictions in the flow of Ki. It can work directly in the unconscious parts of the mind/body which contain negative Ki-inhibiting thoughts and feelings and eliminate them. As Reiki flows through a sick or unhealthy area, it breaks up and washes away any negative thoughts or feelings lodged in the unconscious mind/body thus allowing a normal healthy flow of Ki to resume. As this happens, the unhealthy physical organs and tissues become properly nourished with Ki and begin functioning in a balanced healthy way thus replacing illness with health. Western medicine continues to look at and examine alternative methods of healing; the non-invasive practice of Reiki is growing in acceptance as valued healing practice.
The Reike Principles
Just for today: I will let go of Anger. Just for today: I will let go of Worry. Just for today: I will give thanks for my many blessings. Just for today: I will do my work honestly. Just for today: I will be kind to my neighbor and every living thing The Essence of Reiki
(1) Just for today - the importance of "today”, applicable for all five principles. How you live today determines whether or not you will complete the necessary learning. -Today- is a collection of moments. This teaches us to live fully each moment and the whole day. 2) I will let go of anger - recover the balance of mind and emotion with Reiki. Live a quiet and peaceful life. Anger hurts others and yourself. (3) I will let go of worry - Reiki Mastership is the step for learning to fully trust the universe. Do not have any unnecessary worries and fear. Do your best today and let the universe take care of the rest. This is the key to being free from fear to believe in the universe and be with the universe. (4) Be thankful - you naturally become thankful if you receive the benefit of Reiki and familiarize yourself with Reiki everyday. (5) Work hard - Usui Reiki shows how to utilize Reiki in everyday life and work. A lazy mind is bad for you. People will grow through work and learn through everyday life. (6) Be kind to others - A sense of oneness can be developed naturally through Reiki healing (practice of love) A healthy society can only be established through the cooperation of a large number of people. In the universal dimension there is no distinction between self and others, only the existence of the same soul. "Be kind to others' is synonymous to "Be kind to yourself". Tomorrow we will look at the Chakras and begin discussing the healing process and treatments including Body Scanning and Hand Positions
Level 1 Day 3 - How Reiki Can Help You
Reiki offers many benefits effortlessly with daily Reiki self-treatments including: Reiki will relax you when you are stressed Reiki brings about deep relaxation Reiki centers your thoughts when you are confused Reiki energizes you when you feel drained Reiki calms you when you are frightened Reiki focuses your mind and helps you to solve problems Reiki relieves pain Reiki accelerates natural healing of wounds Reiki improves health Reiki gradually clears up chronic problems Reiki helps prevents the development of disease Reiki detoxifies the body Reiki dissolves energy blockages Reiki releases emotional wounds Reiki increases the vibrational frequency of the body Reiki helps change negative conditioning & behavior Chakras
Chakras are a key factor in all aspects of Reiki and you should have a basic understanding of what they are. There are seven major Chakras. They are energy portals where energy flows. When a Chakra becomes blocked an imbalance occurs. If not cleared, illness and disease can manifest it. 1. The First Chakra – Root Chakra located at the base of the spine. It is linked to survival and our ability to ground ourselves in the physical world. 2. The Second Chakra – Sacral Chakra located just beneath the navel. It is related to our sexual and reproductive capacity. 3. The Third Chakra – Solar Plexus located behind the solar plexus which gives us our personal power in the world. 4. The Fourth Chakra – Heart Chakra located at the Heart and gives us the ability to express love. 5. The Fifth Chakra – Throat Chakra is linked to creativity and communication. 6. The Sixth Chakra – Third Eye Chakra located between the eyebrows. This is the centre of intuition and awareness. 7. The Seventh Chakra – Crown Chakra located at the top of the head. This is relates to ones personal and spiritual connection to the universe.
Before we begin talking about treatments for self or others, let’s set our minds and our intention totally positive; focus on giving treatment rather than trying to create any particular result. Rather than chase away negatives or illness, concentrate on the positives of healthy, happiness, and harmony. Let the Energy Flow. Self Treatment
Self-treatment is useful to get your energy flowing. It allows you to feel Reiki energy flowing through you as itgoes to parts of your body that need it. There is no right or wrong way to work with Reiki on oneself. As you become more experienced with the Reiki energy you will intuitively move your hands to wherever it feels right. However, if you are aware of a specific problem such as an injury or pain, then you should place your hands directly over that area to begin with, and follow up with a full self treatment. Also you may wish to work with some relaxing music.
It’s important to learn the standard Self Treatment Hand Positions
' The basic self-treatment hand positions are: 1. Hands overlapping on the top of the head 2. One hand on the forehead, the other hand on the back of the head midway between the crown of the head and the base of the skull 3. 4. Hands Hands resting resting on on the the eyes ears 5. One hand on the upper chest and the other on the solar plexus (where the ribs come together) 6. Hands on the hip area
Relax in each position for 3-5 minutes. Practice these positions until you begin to feel confident. Through practice you will gain experience and start trusting your inner guidance. When you have mastered the hand positions you can then leave each selftreatment up to your own intuition. You cannot really make a mistake. Your healing sessions are always watched over by the Divine to ensure that your efforts will always be rewarded. Here is a brief (8:48 minutes) Youtube guide for some practice - Reiki Self-Treatment | How to Reiki Video Tutorial - enjoy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_7TXfQJL2Y
After you have your self-treatment session drink a large glass of purified water. Close your eyes and go inside and pay attention to the thoughts and emotions that have arisen during the session. You may feel lightheaded, and if you need to rest, or sit down for a short time, allow yourself this time. If you feel you need to continue to work ona specific area of the body, even if you have completed a full self-treatment, then go with your intuition; always listen to your mind and body. In the beginning, you might want to grab your journal and jot down your experiences and feelings during the process. Today, practice the hand positions on your self, feel the energy flow, treat yourself. Remember to do The Gassho Meditation tonight and tomorrow morning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90GcPzzLNOI
Tomorrow we turn our focus to treating others, both Human and Animal, Namaste
Level 1 Day 4 – Reiki Treatment for Others Treating Others
Prepare yourself before each healing session with others, prepare. You might want to do a short meditation or prayer. Also set your intentions for your Reiki energy to flow. Brush your aura to remove any non-productive energy that might be lingering, a simple way is to sweep your hands down each side of your body from head to toe. Before you begin treatment on another person there are a few important points to remember. • Use extreme caution when giving a Reiki treatment to a person who has a pacemaker as Reiki can alter its rhythm. • Before giving a Reiki treatment to anyone with Diabetes Mellitus and are taking insulin injections, explain to them the need to check insulin levels more frequently since Reiki may significantly reduce the amount of insulin they need. Always explain to a person who is visiting you for the first time for a Reiki treatment exactly what you are going to do and the type of reactions that might occur. Stress that any one of these reactions are normal. They may experience one or two of these reactions, all of them or none of them.
The Body Scan
While many practitioners do use a body scan before giving treatment, others don’t saying that since Reiki goes wherever it is needed body a body scan makes no difference. Scanning is entirely up to you. The Scanning technique is still good to know. Place your hands into the energy field or aura of the one you’re treating, without physically touching them. Try to feel for differences in their energy field. It’s suggested that you ask the person to lay down, and start just above the top of their head, the crown Chakra, and move your hands from head to feet and back up, again don’t touch, keep your hands a few inches away from actual contact. You may need to repeat this several times, it does require a lot of practice to be effective. Also remember you aren’t diagnosing anything, you’re simply looking for any areas that may need extra attention during your session.
The Hand Positions for Treating Others
When treating others there are a number of hand positions to use. Each position is held for 3 to 5 minutes before moving to the next position. Trust your intuition. At times you might feel that you should place your hands on a certain area, in this case trust your intuition do that. Reiki will flow to the part of the body that requires it wherever you place yourand hands. This Youtube video demonstrates hand positions and placement when working with others. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xw9EleHuXsI
When you’re carrying out a Reiki session you may feel heat flowing through your hands when you get to particular areas of your client. Keep that position until your hands cool down. This heat can be quite intense, but it will never hurt or harm. Follow your intuition and you won’t go wrong! Before a treatment ensure that the person is laying or sitting comfortably and is warm enough. Wash your hands and put on some soft music or burn incense if you want to. Ask the person to remove their shoes and to close their eyes and relax. As you place your hands in the first position say to yourself “Reiki On”. This will focus your intentions to start the Reiki flow. Remember that the Reiki energy will flow through you and not from you. It’s from Source not from you so you should not feel drained – in fact you will be receiving a Reiki treatment whilst treating others!!!! You may either place your hands lightly in each position or hold them a couple of centimeters over each position if the client prefers not to be touched. Holding your hands above the body can be helpful when treating someone with burns or skin diseases. At the end of the Reiki treatment session shake your hands lightly to disconnect from the Reiki energy. Ask the person to get up slowly, they may feel sleepy for a while. Offer them a glass of water and allow them to take their time standing up. Inform the client that they should drink plenty of water and will probably pass water more often as toxins leave their body. Sometimes a symptom may get worse before getting better – this is normal and is part of the healing procedure. Treating Animals
Animals respond really well to Reiki – they have no preconceived ideas of the energy and it can be a good confidence boost for you to give Reiki to a pet. Animals need less Reiki treatment time and you will find that after a few minutes they may walk away as they have received enough energy. You can treat a pet by placing one hand on the head and the other on the chest area – this will reassure and steady the animal. Let the Reiki flow
and keep the same position as the energy will find its way to where it is needed most. Animals also have chakras just as humans do, so the practitioner can also place the hands on the animal in the various chakra locations. However, a non-touching technique may also be used depending on the individual case using a fixed set of hand positions, allow your intuition to guide you. Some animals will be happy to receive treatment for hours but most are happy with 3-5 minutes. If you want to treat an animal that isn’t tame just sit near it, hold your hands out and intend that the Reiki flow from your hands to the animal. The same applies when sending Reiki to a bird that isn’t tame – sit as close to the animal as you can and hold your hands out intending that it receive the energy. Youtube has several really descriptive videos about using Reiki with animals - This one gives a nice introduction to Reiki with animals https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzVtT7ankDo Grounding
Once you have completed your healing you should ground yourself. Simply clasp your hands together and say to yourself “I am grounded.” Another grounding technique that you can practice each day on yourself is to sit down in a chair with your feet firmly on the floor. Close your eyes and visualize tree roots coming out of the soles of your feet and going down into the centre of the earth. Visualize a white light coming in through the top of your head, travelling down through each chakra and then exiting through the roots into the earth. Allow this cycle to happen for as long as you feel necessary and then open your eyes. Where We Can Use Reiki
Reiki can be used on self-treatment or upon another person. Animals are highly receptive to Reiki, and often their sessions are particularly short. Plants, videotapes, car batteries, food, water, crystals, stones, medicine. Just use your imagination! Conclusion
Welcome to the wonderful world of Reiki. Let the energy flow, be Reiki from now on but more importantly enjoy it. You’ve started a journey of self-discovery and learning. How far you travel with Reiki is up to you. Next week we begin Level II. Tomorrow, we’re practicing what we’ve discussed this week, including hand positions and your choice of self-treatment, working with a pet or another person. I’ll also explain what you need to do Saturday for your level I attunement. Remember to do The Gassho Meditation tonight and tomorrow morning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90GcPzzLNOI
Level I Day 5 - Healing Exercise
Monday we talked about the meaning and source of Reiki - the 2 Japanese words Rei and Ki which literally translates as Spiritual Energy, energy that flows from Source to Self, energy which aligns both Physical and Spiritual. Energy that srcinates outside of us yet flows through us. Like unconditional love, give it without expectations, allow it to flow freely. When we talk of brushing our Aura, about washing our hands before treatment, it’s also for that same reason, to allow Reiki to flow freely without personal expectations. After your attunement tomorrow, you will be able to use this energy to treat self, animals; and each day you practice you become one with Reiki, you eat it, you drink it. With practice you, you aren’t just using Reiki anymore, You ARE Reiki. Today’s exercise is not healing; it’s about feeling, feel the flow. We need to record how it feels as well, to compare what we feel this time with what we feel at the end of the program. I also ask you to break this exercise into 3 parts- Self; another Person, and an Animal, pet or wild (like a bird, squirrel, turtle, or frog) Watch this video again and then use the hand positions for self treatment. Record what you feel like giving and also what you feel like receiving. Drink some water, and take a break, how long is up to you. Follow along Reiki Self Healing Treatment https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSgEbnm4e_E This time we’re working with another person so review this video, then ask a family member to help or call a friend or neighbor. After you finish, record how the flow felt to you. Ask the person you’re working with how it felt to them and write that down as well. It’s break time again Reiki Treatment Session on another person https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaCCjE1xuOA For the third part of this exercise, watch this video again, then bring in your pet or focus on a bird or another animal close by. Remember with animals you don’t have to touch. It might actually be safer not to, especially with wild animals. Again record how the flow of energy felt to you and unless you can “animal-speak” record the reactions of your pet or animal. Reiki Level 1 Attunement
You’ve finished the manual and course work for Level I and tomorrow the attunements will be ready for you to receive. I’ve prepared the attunement for each member of the Mystic's Free Usui Reiki Training and Healing Circle and others who indicated interest in the program. During this attunement process you may experience the energy transfer of the attunement. You may feel heat, coolness, or a tingling beginning at the crown and spreading to the rest of the body. While, most people tend to feel either more energized, many othersonce feel relaxed orstated drowsy, or intention sleepy even. It’s ok the to fall asleep transfer during an attunement, you have your to receive, energetic will happen.
Remember: all attunements you receive from me are prepared to allow you to receive them when, where and as many times as you want. To receive your attunement relax or meditate. If you would like call your Guardian
Angel, Totem Animal, Spiritual Guide, or Higher Self to help you during the process. Sit or lie down, keep your back straight, be comfortable hold your hands in the Gassho position (prayer position). When you feel ready say mentally or aloud (or read it if you want to). “I am now ready to receive the Usui Reike Ryoho level 1 Attunement prepared and sent to me by Roger Nobles”
When your intention to receive is stated, the attunement automatically begins. It takes about 30 minutes. Once started it continues until the transfer is completed even if you fall asleep, watch television, go for a walk.
Usui Reiki Level II Day 1 - An Introduction to 2nd Degree Usui Reiki
Words cannot adequately describe Reiki, it needs to be experienced. That’s what you were able to do with the Level I exercises. By experiencing both giving and receiving Reiki, doubts and fears should be erased and you’re now excited with the prospect of enhancing your skills and knowledge base. During Level I we laid the foundation, Level II will help us build the framework put in the plumbing and wiring, then add the walls for our House of Reiki. We will put the roof on for Level III, the Master Practitioner. The five Reiki principles we talked about in Level 1 are based on three pillars of Reiki: • Gassho: Pronounced – Gash-Show • Reiji-Ho: Pronounced - Ray-Gee-Hoe • Chiryo: Pronounced – Chi-Rye-Oh I really encourage everyone to make The Gassho Meditation a regular part of your daily lives. Gassho is the most fundamental and also the most frequently used of all the hand gestures (mudras) in the practice of Reiki. With it we recognize the oneness of all beings. It also … • Expresses Gratitude and Respect • Helps sharpen our focus; to prevent our minds from wandering • Brings self into dynamic balance • Embraces the One Mind – the congruence of being as one, the totality. For a deeper understanding of Gassho, I encourage you to review the manual as well and to take time out 5-20 minutes each day for this meditation.
Reiji-Ho the Second Pillar of Reiki
Reiji translates as indication or guidance of the spirit; Ho is a practice, a ceremony or ritual to help wake up your intuitive ability to ‘see’ any energetic imbalances in a person's body/aura. It’s a good idea to perform this ‘ritual’ before each treatment. Sit or stand comfortably with you back straight. Hold your hands, palms together in the Gassho position. Close your eyes and relax; just simply be. Ask the Reiki power to flow through you. Feel the flow. It may enter through your Crown Chakra or you experience it in your hands or Heart Chakra. Release all stress and tension. Now raise your hands, still in the prayer position to your forehead. Simply ask or pray that Reiki will flow into and through the person being treated. Release all thoughts of possible outcomes, Invite and allow Reiki to guide your hands) to any areas that may need treatment. Follow your intuition Trust; resist the urge to 'do', Reiki will go where it is needed. When it comes to letting Reiki guide you, different people may receive their guidance in different ways. Some may simply experience pure spontaneous movement - as if being 'pulled' magnetically; some may experience images in the mind's-eye of where treatment is needed; others may 'hear' where Reiki is needed, and so on.
If at first you don’t feel anything, when we first begin performing Reiji that’s quite normal, just recall the principle “Just for today I will not worry.” It really will come with practice and when it does, you’ll know. When the treatment is finished or if no areas need treatment your hands will be guided to rest usually on your legs orin your lap. Bring your hands back to the Gassho position. The treatment is finished. You might want to conclude with a brief meditation or prayer. Chiryo the Third Pillar of Reiki
Chiryo translates as “treatment,” but more specifically it’s a method of detoxification. Detoxification doesn’t only mean flushing of actual physical substances, psychological, emotional and spiritual 'toxins' are also included. This detox aspect may used separately or as part a general Reiki treatment. One-way to do Chiryo as a stand-alone is very much like we just did with Reiji-Ho. However this time following your statement of intent for the request for the healing and wellness of your client as well as the gentle clearing of all toxins. Stand to the client's left side, hold your left hand slightly above their tanden area (stomach just below the navel), and place your right hand a few inches from their forehead. Feel the Reiki as it flows through and under your hands. Keep your hands in position, until you sense a balance in the energy flow between your hands. When you feel the energy balanced, move your right hand from the client's forehead and place it on top of your left hand on their tanden area. 'See' and ‘feel’ the Reiki flow. Stay with it until your intuition feels the treatment is complete (this could be up to 20 minutes,) now you may remove your hands from the client's tanden area. Experiment with this technique while you treat yourself or others. For the next 3 days we will look at 3 of the Reiki symbols, which will grant you access to the full potential of the universal life force. Tomorrow, we’ll talk about the first symbol Cho Ku Rei.
Level II Day 2 - The Reiki Power symbol - Cho Ku Rei
(Cho Ku Rei is pronounced: "Cho-Koo-Ray.") The general meaning of Cho Ku Rei is: "Place the power of the universe here". The power symbol can be used to increase the power of Reiki. It can also be used for protection. Imagine Reiki energy similar to electricity flowing through all the wiring in the house. Also think of whoever will be receiving treatment like a new lamp you just brought home. To light that lamp, you first plug into the power source - our intention is that plug for Reiki. With the lamp, you flip a switch and the light bulb glows. The Reiki symbol, Cho Ku Rei, is our switch allowing the Reiki energy to flow around and through the client. . This power symbol basically works as a “switch” that helps to instantly increase Reiki practitioner’s ability to channel the energies. The main purpose of using it is to enhance the power of Reiki and draw the energy around and concentrate it on the required purpose. The power symbol looks like a coil. Cho Ku Rei – The Reiki Power Symbol
The symbol can be drawn in both counter and spiral clockwise directions. Some Reiki practitioners draw it counter clockwise when treating areas where there may be an excess of energy. Others always draw it clockwise with the belief that Reiki energy always works highest good, so we don’t controlthe or vertical influence it by telling it what to do. for Thethe horizontal line represents theneed Reikitosource, line symbolizes energy flow, and the spiral touching the middle line seven times represents the seven Chakras.
Practice drawing this symbol, just use your dominant hand and draw the symbol in the air, or draw it in your mind if you prefer. How to Use the Reiki Power S ymbol
The Reiki power symbol is used primarily to connect with Reiki energy at the start of a session and also to help boost the Reiki power whenever it is required during a session. It’s an all-purpose symbol and can be used for anything, anywhere; * For on the spot treatments * To cleans negative energies * Spiritual protection * On food, water, medicine, herbs * In sick rooms and hospitals * To aid manifestation * To empower other Reiki Symbols * To seal energies after the treatment, etc. * It can be used for protection as well. It’s also known as the Earth Symbol, and might feel a bit heavy when activated. Reiki Energy will flow without it, however many believe the energy increases a lot when the symbol is used. Some practitioners use it on their own palms and chakras before treating others, to help clear the channels and empower their hands. Using the power symbol over the client’s crown chakra helps create positive energy around them, while using it on the lower back and behind the heart chakra helps seal the energy at the end of the treatment. Some uses for the Cho Ku Rei, also how and where to draw the power symbol for each To increase the power of your healing abilities, draw or visualize Cho Ku Rei in front of you or draw it in your hands if you want. Draw it above the body with the intention of sealing the healing process. To increase the power of the other symbols; Draw it before drawing the other symbols. I sandwich the other symbols with the power symbol, for example, with attunements, all 4 symbols are used, I draw Cho Ku Rei both first and last. This serves to increase the strength of the attunement and also to seal it. The Power symbol can be used to spiritually clean a room from negative energy, to leave it positive and in the light. Draw or visualize the symbols on all the walls, ceiling and floor with the intent to energize the room. To clean crystals and other objects from negative energies, draw the power symbol above or on the crystal/object with the intent of cleansing it and restoring it to its srcinal state.
Protect yourself from negative energies either from people you treat or people you meet. Draw or visualize the Reiki Power symbol in front of you. You can also draw it on an object or person with the intent of being totally protected. Tonight, practice drawing the Cho Ku Rei, both clockwise and counterclockwise. Feel the energy flow, then use the way that feels best for you. Also practice using it in different scenarios as well, really become acquainted with the Reiki power symbol. http://www.proag-reiki.com/CHO-KU-REI-(CKR).html Tomorrow we work with the Symbol of Harmony, Sei Hei Ki, also known as the mental/emotional symbol.
Level II Day 3 – Reiki Symbol of Harmony - Sei Hei Ki
The second symbol is called Sei Hei Ki. It is pronounced "say hay key". This symbol is known as the mental/emotional symbol, but also as the harmony symbol. Before we go any farther, we should become familiar and learn to draw the symbol. There a many explanations of how to draw this symbol. This diagram is what I believe is the simplest and the one I use,
To use Sei Hei Ki, first write down on a piece of paper the emotional or mental aspect you would like to have healed in your life, and fold it so it fits in between your hands. Then draw the Sei Hei Ki over it, following with a Cho-Ku Rei, begin to give it Reiki for 15 minutes or longer if you choose. These symbols are a focal point for intent to travel towards – so your intent must be there
“Everyone is a house with four rooms, a physical, a mental, an emotional and a spiritual. Most of us tend to live in one room most of the time, but unless we go into every room, every day, even if only to keep it aired, we are not a complete person.” – Proverb from India
We have four bodies that make up who we are; Physical, Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual. What affects any one of these bodies affects other three as well. The Physical You (your body) – your tangible structure and the five senses that enable you to touch, see, hear, smell, and taste the world around you. The Mental You (your thoughts) – knowledge, attitude, and beliefs. the analytical self. The Emotional You (your feelings) – the range of emotions from fear and anger to love and joy. The Spiritual You (your spirit) – relationship with oneself, creativity, and life purpose. Your relationship with a Higher Power.
Sei Hei Ki targets the mental and emotional self, bringing them into congruence with our physical and spiritual bodies, Harmony of the whole self One of the greatest Reiki healing health benefits is stress reduction and relaxation, which triggers the body’s natural healing abilities (immune system), aids in better sleep and improves and maintains health On the physical level, this Reiki symbol helps with symptoms of asthma, chronic fatigue, menopausal symptoms, and insomnia. It can also be used for pain management and relief for many pains such as migraines, back and leg pains, arthritis, and many others. Reiki helps bring about inner peace and harmony. It can be valuable tool in the quest for spiritual growth Different practitioners use this symbol in different ways. For example, the practitioner draws the Cho Ku Rei (the power symbol) to create a connection with the Reiki energy source. Then Sei He Ki is drawn over the troubled area where the Reiki energies are required. The energies are sealed by drawing the power symbol or Cho Ku Rei again. Practice using the first two symbols together, also remember to do the Gassho Meditation daily. Tomorrow’s topic is the distant or absent healing symbol Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen More on for 2nd symbol Sei Hei Ki http://www.proag-reiki.com/How-to-use-SHK-in-different-problems.html
Usui Reiki Level II Day 4 - Reiki Distance Symbol - Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen
It is primarily used to send Reiki to others at a distance. Distance is not a barrier when using this symbol and a practitioner can send healing energies to people across the room, across town, or even to the other side of the world. The third symbol: HON SHA ZE SHO NEN - the “Remote or Distant healing symbol.” Although it really isn’t a symbol, but a composition of five kanji, and are spoken as the mantra "hon sha ze sho nen" (pronounced "hawn shah zay sho nen") Translated it means: Hon- Origin Sha- Person Ze- Through a tunnel of Light to a higher dimension Sho- Real Nen- Prayer, Psychic Power, Meditation There are many transliterations for this phrase - basically though it boils down to the Divine Source (Reiki energy) is connected to all beings, times, and places. Some are: “The Divine in me reaches out to the Divine in you.” A variation is "The Buddha in me contacts the Buddha in you" "No past, no present, no future" "Right consciousness is the root of everything" Drawing isn’t really simple, since each of the five Kanji characters are drawn separately but in a specific order connecting them as a single mantra. Explanations of how to draw each Kanji in the correct order are varied, many examples use 22 strokes, however some variations may use 30 or more. I like to break the distant healing symbol into the separate Kanji (use the graphic to follow along with this explanation).
First Strokes 1 through 5 - (sort of looks like a cross on the top of a church.) Next are Strokes 6 through 10 - (6 is a foundation or floor and 7 slides down to the left like skiing) down the side of a mountain. Strokes 8, 9, and 10 build a little house at the bottom of that ski slope.) Stroke 11 is inside and is a handle. Stroke 12 is the floor of the house and also the top of an ‘F’. Strokes 13, 14, complete the ‘F’. 15 are parallel to the bottom of that ‘F’. The next two strokes are like a mustache as Stroke 16 is drawn to the left and 17 to the right. Stroke 18 is the mouth underneath them. 19 form a large fancy 7 The final 3 strokes make a happy face, 20 is the smile while 21 & 22 are the winking eyes of Reiki. Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen can be used many ways including: Heal : Sending in the past helps heal “oldthings wounds” thatbe may be affecting you inthe thePast present. It willReiki not change the events, as past cannot changed; but sending Reiki to the past helps to rethink the experience as an important lesson, part of learning process, and it helps heal the pain so the client can move on with their life, by bringing body, mind and spirit into harmony.
Enhance Future Conditions: Using the distance-healing symbol for the future helps in
storing the Reiki energy like a battery to be accessed at a time when you require it. Sending Reiki ahead of time for doctor’s appointments, interviews, examinations, workshops, or traveling will help you adjust to the unforeseen circumstances of the future and keep an open and optimistic mindset. Even before learning Reiki, I used this concept to make ‘psychic imprints’ tuned to a clock and calendar to be at a certain place and time, in the close future of course, usually to work with the different time zones around the world. Reaches Across Space:
As we mentioned earlier, then primary use for Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen is to send healing energy across a room, town, to different parts of your country or just anywhere in the world. To heal people who are not present. However, we need to understand that when we do use Reiki for long distance healing, it works more with the subtle body, like the Aura or Chakras rather than the physical body. Also sending Reiki energy for a particular problem such as headaches or backaches can limit the energies very much. Therefore, we recommend sending Reiki to the person as a whole, rather than limit it, we allow it to reach directly to the part of the body where it’s needed most. This completes the Level II manual and the three symbols. You have the knowledge, now practice, practice, practice to make it yours. Remember, You are Reiki, Reiki is You. With our healing exercises tomorrow, first try the hands on with self, another person, or a pet. Use the first 2 symbols; the Power symbol - Choku Rei and the Harmony symbol Sei He Ki. For the second part, talk to a friend not physically with you, another room, across town, or even on-line. Now add the Distance symbol - Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen, work with all 3 symbols. Record your impressions and those of your ‘partner’.
Level II Day 5 - Healing Exercise
If you haven’t already done so, and if it’s possible, take about 5 minutes now for the Gassho meditation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WKt28gkSpg For today’s Exercise, we continue to build our Reiki house - during Level I we laid the foundation and began building the frame with some history and the 5 principles, then hand positions for self, others, and animals. Level II started with Cho Ku Rei, our Symbol of Power, and Sei He Ki, Symbol of Harmony, placing both the inside and outside walls. Then along came Distance to add the roof. Now we're about to blend all those together and get the house ready to paint and add the carpeting next week in Level III. Beginning today’s exercise let’s draw Cho Ku Rei the Power Symbol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSxUWwqZCPQ - along with the hand positions for self treatment http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5HeyMeC468 Take a brief break and when you come back we will add Sei-He-Ki, Symbol for Harmony and use the hand positions for hands on treatment of another person or pet.
Begin by drawing again our Power Symbol, then add our Harmony Symbol, Sei He Ki http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFOjdh-VC3M. Now proceed to the hand positions and treatment of another http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xw9EleHuXsI You might want to take another short break before we add our third symbol Hon-Sha-ZeSho-Nen and an absent healing session
For the final part of today’s exercise and summary of what we've covered in both levels I and II, let’s use all of the symbols we've received so far. Begin with Cho Ku Rei, next draw Sei He Ki, add Hon-Sha-Ze-Sho-Nen, the Distance Symbol followed by another Cho Ku Rei to seal the session.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gbkFfJzX6E Now we’re ready for a Distance or Absent Session. We've worked with Self Treatment and Treatment of Others, so this time; let’s take a step back in time. Think of some event in your past that has caused some resentment, anger, something you hold a grudge about. We don’t need to relive the event, and we can’t change it, but we can acknowledge it, release it, and release all negative influence it has on us now. With Distance healing, our imagination or ability to visualize is really important, since we are not in direct contact with the event or person receiving the Reiki energy. To aid with the visualization of for healing an event from the past, I recommend a Youtube video for a meditation guided by Lisa Beachy. This isn't a Reiki how to video, yet by adding our Reiki symbols to the visualizations with this video, I believe it embodies the essence and purpose of our Distance Symbol, Hon-Sha-Ze-Sho-Nen - Energy Cord Cutting Meditation Video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKS3UWoDJfk Please do the Gassho meditation to close out this session - drink some water, take a few deep breaths and you refreshed and ready to continue your day. Practice this exercise as often as possible. Remember as you practice you are becoming one with Reiki. So breathe it, eat it, and drink it, and be Reiki. Tomorrow is the day for Level II attunements; they will be ready to receive at midnight tonight (your time) or anytime after that. To receive the attunement, simply find a quiet place, the sit or stand in a comfortable position, back straight and hands in the Gassho position. Call for your spirit helpers, angels, totems, if you wish. Take a few deep breaths to relax and say in your mind or aloud or read it even: “I am now ready to receive the Usui Reike Ryoho level II Attunement prepared and sent to me by Roger Nobles” Once your intention is stated, the energy of initiation will flow to and within you, regardless of what activity you’re engaged in.
Reiki Level II Attunement
Attunements for Level II are prepared and ready for you to receive. After receiving this attunement, you will better understand the importance for the harmony of wholeness on all levels - your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies. It opens your heart chakra and your connection between the physical and spiritual realms. You will become more sensitive to the subtle energies around you, also your intuition will increase, begin to trust it. To receive the attunement, go to your quiet place, sit or stand in a comfortable position with your back straight, hold your hands in the Gassho (prayer) position. If you want to you may call for your spirit guides or angels. Take a few deep breaths to relax and say in your mind or aloud or read it even: -- “I am now ready to receive the Usui Reike Ryoho level II Attunement prepared and sent to me by Roger Nobles” Once your intention is stated, the energy of initiation will flow to and within you, regardless of what activity you’re engaged in.
After you accept this attunement, you may feel sleepy, or restless, sluggish or invigorated, excited or lethargic, or you may feel very little or nothing at all. Don't worry though, this is normal in both the extremes and diversity of feelings, after all we are all unique individuals. One thing you do need to be aware of; you may feel flu like symptoms, nausea, headache, muscle or joint pains - this too will pass - Many of us, including me, go through a purification process, both physically and emotionally. Many Masters recommend a 21day cleansing period, how long it lasts is up to you, but for a few days at least following this attunement, drink plenty of water and try to eat healthier and lighter meals, lots of fruit and vegetables while avoiding fatty meat. This allows an easier and faster detoxification of your system. For those who wish to teach, we will have 21-days between the end of Level III and the beginning of our Level IV Master Teacher program.
Reiki Level III Day 1 – Reiki Master Symbol – Dai Ko Myo
In level I we worked with hand positions and giving hands on Reiki treatments to self, others, and animals. Level II we added some symbols, the power symbol Cho Ku Rei, and the symbol of harmony Sei Hei Ki - but we were still working pretty much hands on, until we added the third symbol Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen, for distance. We practiced using them, individually and together. We’re going to mix things up a little this week. First here is our new symbol - the Usui Reiki Master symbol, it is said this symbol increases the strength of your Reiki energy and enables you to receive a more powerful, higher vibration of Reiki energy. The Dai Ko Myo or DKM for short. Dai Ko Myo means: “great shining light”, “great luminous shining”, “great enlightenment.” One description of this symbol that I really like is “it represents the beating heart of Reiki.” To make this symbol ours, we’re going to do 3 things. First is how to pronounce it - DayKo-My-O. Second is how to draw it. While your drawing the symbol, say it, repeat Day Ko My O with each stroke.
Third is an attunement, not for the level, but to become attuned with the master empowerment symbol. This symbol is associated with the crown Chakra and is used to heal the soul. Since it deals with the soul and our spiritual self, it heals disease and illness from the srcinal source in the aura or energy fields. It helps to bring peace and enlightenment. It also allows us become more intuitive and psychic. With practice this symbol may bring significant changes in one’s life. The Attunement can be accomplished in many ways; my way is through meditation. If you want to, play some relaxing music in the background. Sit, stand, or lay down, with back straight and comfortable. Use a few deep breaths to relax. With eyes closed, envision the Dai Ko Myo symbol - repeat the name 3 times, aloud or in your mind. Ask Source to send Dai Ko Myo down through your Crown Chakra, your Third Eye Chakra, your Throat Chakra, and into your Heart Chakra. You may also ask Mother Earth to send her energies up through your Root Chakra, Sacral, your Solar Plexus, and into your Heart Chakra - meeting with the Dai Ko Myo from your Crown.
Focus on the Symbol, see it as a healing light spreading through your whole body, through your thoughts, and through your emotions, brushing away all stress, tension, doubts, and fears. See the Light radiating outward through your Aura as well. Hold these thoughts, and continue repeating Dai Ko Myo for as long as you meditate. When you feel as one with the symbol of divine light, you may open your eyes; take a few more deep breaths. Stand up and move about. The Master symbol is now an important tool available to you. Once attuned, always use it before the other symbols to increase their sensitivity and power. Dai-Ko-Myo is used in all healings to bring in a higher and purer light for healing. The Master Symbol is drawn several ways; use the one that resonates with you. So far, we've used the traditional Kanji. The graphic shows several contemporary versions also.
If you have time this evening, practice a healing session leading with the Master symbol. Our topic tomorrow is how to use Dai Ko Myo and the other symbols from Level II to remove negative psychic energy from ourselves and others.
Reiki Level III Day 2 – Use Reiki to Remove Negative Energy
This lesson is about removing negative psychic energyfrom yourself & others. It’s actually one of my favorites as well. I feel it expands our understanding of what Reiki is and see that we can use i not all healing is about illness or injury. We can also use it to move forward to set intentions and to the past where we cannot change events but can release and heal painful memories, perceptions, and negative energies. We can use Reiki to address things that go bump in the night as well. Remember also that if we need to work across time or space to add our Distant Symbol, Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen. We can also establish an environment of Peace and Harmony by incorporating our Balancing symbol, Sei Hei Ki. In Level II, we used Cho Ku Rei, the Reiki power symbol, to cleanse negative energies. Draw or visualize the Reiki Power symbol in front of you (add Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen and Sei Hei Ki as needed). You can also draw or visualize them on an object or person with the intent of being totally protected Draw ( or visualize) Reiki symbols with hands/fingers to clear spaces. It is important to draw the symbols on walls, ceilings, windows, doorways and floors. You may visualize
rather than draw if you prefer. Just follow your intuition to guide you to what should be cleansed. Brush your aura to remove any non-productive energy that might be lingering, a simple way is to sweep your hands down each side of your body from head to toe. Some refer to this method of removing negative energy as psychic surgery; I prefer to compare it to preparation for surgery, not the actual surgical procedure. We sterilize the tools, environment, and self before we begin treatment. Maybe to detoxify is an even better word. There are several techniques for this. One of the simpler yet effective methods is known as Gedoku ho “Ge” means to “bring down” and Doku” means “poison or toxin”. Its prime focus is to be able to detoxify both self and client. As an added benefit is that is also used to improve the digestion after eating and reduces the side effect of many medicines or treatments. We’re going to work with the “tanden” with this. I’m often confused by exactly what is meant with this term, especially within the context we often find it used. Here’s a pretty thorough break down: "Tanden" is called "Dantian" in Chinese and consists of two Chinese characters - "Tan" and "Den". "Tan” is often interpreted several ways, one that I like is "the elixir of life” or maybe more descriptively as” the srcin of energy". "Den", refers to a paddy field. We may define the term "Tanden" as a field or the source where we can raise as much energy as we need. Or to put into the concept of Reiki, Tanden is the whole body. Many times we see Tandem spoken of as upper, middle, and lower Tandem, also front and back Tanden. So let’s practice Gedoku ho: Do all the steps slowly. Begin with several deep breaths to relax and hold your hands in the Gassho position. State your intent to remove the toxins and negative energies. Next draw or visualize the master symbol as a beam of light in the middle of your palms, next see the power symbol followed by the symbol of harmony. Now place one hand on the front (lower) tanden and the other hand on the back of the tanden (one hand in front of them below the navel and the other hand on there lower back etc). (This can be done for self or another)
“See” the Reiki flow from your hands, into the front and back of the body, imagine the light flushing the toxins out of the body, through the feet back to Mother earth. If you’re working with a client, ask them to also imagine the toxins exiting the body through the feet back to earth. Many masters say to do this for 13 minutes; I prefer not to use a time limit, but to continue until you feel the toxins have left the body. There are several other techniques for cleansing as well. - Jacki-Kiri Joka-ho (Transforming negative energy)
Jacki” means negative energy and "Kiri" means to cut,”Joka-Ho” is a purification technique; it teaches how to cut-off negative energy from any object. * Important note: It has always been taught that this technique should never to be used on a living being (human, animal, etc.) You should use other purification techniques such as joshin kokyuu-ho or hanshin koketsu-ho etc. Some objects you come across like jewelry, crystals etc can sometimes contain Negative energy and this technique can help rectify this. Here is the exercise: • Do all these steps slowly • Place the object to be purified, in your non-dominant hand (if you’re right handed then place it in the left etc.). • Start to hold your breath in your tanden. • Now with your dominant hand about 2 - 4 inches above the object start make a horizontal cutting/chopping motion over the object fort HREE times only. • Stop the chopping motion abruptly afterthe Third time then release your breath. • Finally after this purification send Reiki to the object for a few minutes to complete the process. Obviously if the Object is too large etc simply place it in front of you or if it’s still too large (Office, Car etc) then use Distant Healing with the above procedures. http://www.scribd.com/doc/86618704/26/Appendix-I-Jacki-Kiri-Joka-ho-Transformingnegative-energy Another technique is Kenyoku-Ho - 'ken - dry, yoku - bath' , a great method for cleansing yourself before and after each treatment, disconnecting ones energy from others as well as strengthen your own energy, dry bathing or clearing ones energy field. (It is done by Shinto priests at some ceremonies to clear/purify body and spirit. According to some resources - srcinally the brushing was only from wrist to tips of fingers; the brushing of the arms from shoulder to hand is an addition by H. Doi) 1) Place your right hand on your left shoulder with palm gently touching your shoulder. 2) In a smooth & gentle motion slide the hand down to the right hip - while breathing out (Haa sound)
3) Repeat the process on the right side, using the left hand sliding down toward the left hip. 4) Repeat once or twice more on each side. Always breathe out when sliding down - Haa sound. 5) Now place the right hand on the edge of the left shoulder and slide the hand down the left arm all the way to the fingertips. Left arm is straight and at your side. 6) Place the left hand on the edge of the right shoulder and slide the hand down the right arm all the way to the fingertips while right arm is straight and at your side. 7) Repeat it once or twice with both hands. 8) Put your hands on the lap. http://www.reiki-healing-touch.com/about%20reiki/japanese.htm Practice these techniques tonight, make them yours. Tomorrow we begin to add crystals to our tool bag. First are the Crystals associated with the Chakras and how we can use them to focus and amplify or Reiki flow. We will also see how to make a Reiki Crystal Grid to send Reiki to yourself and / or others continuously for a period
Usui Reiki III - Day 3 Reiki Healing with Crystals
Crystals can be used during Reiki Healing to help with energy balancing, and speeds up the healing process. One day isn’t nearly enough time to fully address the healing ability of Crystals and how they may be used with Reiki to enhance energy flow and healing. We will focus on the Chakras and some of the associated stones, some methods of using the stones both for hands on and absent healing. We will also talk about Reiki Crystal grids, their purpose and some designs. Reike Healing With Crystals For Chakra Balancin g
Crystals used during Reiki Healing will help the healing and energy balancing and speed up the healing process. One of the simplest ways to help balance the whole chakra system is to place a stone of the appropriate color on each Chakra. This gives each chakra a boost of its own vibration without changing its energies or the overall harmony of the system. Seven color chakra layout for Reike healing with crystals
Typically, the colors and stones associated with the 7 Chakras are
1. Root or Base Chakra (Muladhara) – Red or Black - Stones - Hematite, Black
Obsidian, Black Tourmaline, Red Jasper, Garnet, Ruby, Red Coral, Smoky Quartz Health issues: Joint pain, lower backache, elimination problems, obesity, constipation,
anorexia, and poor immune system function. 2. Sacral/Naval Chakra (Svadhisthana) – Orange or Blue/Green - Stones - Orange Calcite, Vanadinite, Carnelian, Blue-green Turquoise, Blue-green Fluorite Health Issues: Uterine or bladder problems, sexual difficulties, impotence, lack of
flexibility, sciatica, lower back pain, and problems with large intestines. 3. Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) - Yellow - Stones - Citrine, Yellow Jasper, Golden
Calcite Health Issues: diabetes, hypoglycemia, gallstones, nervousness, low energy, muscle
cramps, stomach problems, lumbar spine, liver disorders. 4. Heart Chakra (Anahata) – Green or Pink - Stones - Rose Quartz, Pink/Rubellite
Tourmaline, Watermelon Tourmaline, Green Aventurine, Malachite, Jade Health issues: high blood pressure, breathing difficulties, circulation problems, shortness
of breath, chest pains, disorders of the heart, tension between the shoulders. 5. Throat Chakra (Vissudha) – Blue - Stones - Sodalite, Blue Calcite, Blue Kyanite,
Angelite, Blue Turquoise Health issues: fever, ear infections, weariness, thyroid problems, disorders in the throat,
ears, voice, neck, cervical spine, hypothalamus and esophagus problems.
6. Third Eye Chakra (Ajna) - Indigo - Stones - Lapis Lazuli, Azurite, Sugilite Health issues: headaches, eye problems, pituitary and pineal glands, neurological
problems. 7. Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) – Violet or White - Stones - Amethyst, White Calcite,
White Topaz Health Issues: Migraines, brain tumors, coma, amnesia, nervous system and muscular
system disorders, mental issues, and skin disorders. Placing a different stone on each of the seven chakras will strengthen and tone up the entire system. You might want to place a grounding stone, like smoky quartz, between the feet to act as an anchor.
Begin with the Root Chakra and place an associated stone, then move up, placing a stone associated with each Chakra. When removing the stones, start with the Crown Chakra and work down to the Root. The purpose of this “laying on” of stones is to clear etheric, emotional, mental or spiritual blocks. This is part of the healing process. If a stone doesn’t feel comfortable during the Reiki healing, move it or take it away, try a different stone. Also a stone that feels good when first placed on the body may have an energy shift when its energy has been absorbed. Always ask the one receiving treatment for input as well, and work together for the maximum benefit. Again allow your intuition to guide you when select crystals to use. For more information you might want to look at these links: http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/bringing-crystals-to-the-reiki-table.html http://www.reiki-for-holistic-health.com/reiki-healing-with-crystals.html Reiki Crystal Grids
The Reiki Crystal grid is a pattern made up of sacred shapes. When we align these
shapes with gemstones and crystals it creates an energy vortex that can be used for selfhealing, healing others, self-attunement, meditation, prayer, distance healing, affirmations and intentions, re-charging space, and communication with our higher self, planet earth & spirit.
There are many patterns you may use, but for our example, you’ll need 8 stones. The type of the stone is your choice. Use whatever stone feels right to you. (I like to use quartz crystals) You may want to match the size of the stones with the amount of space you want to take up with the grid. To attune the stones, draw or visualize the master symbol followed by the power symbol, the harmony symbol, the distance symbol and again the power symbol over each stone Use 6 of the attuned stones to form a six-pointed star, with the points pointing in. Place a 7th charged stone inside your star with the point going between two of the outer crystals. The last stone is your Master Stone; place it outside the grid, off to the side Use a photo of yourself or write your name on a piece of paper and place it in the middle under the central crystal. On the back of the photo or paper, write a positive affirmation. You should re-charge your Reiki grid each day to keep it empowered. To do this take the Master Crystal and hold it between your hands. Draw the Distant Symbols over it and any other symbols you are guided to use, such as the Power Symbol or the Master Symbol. Do Reiki on the Master Crystal for five to ten minutes to charge it with Reiki. You may also ask your guides or angels or other spiritual beings to work with you and to charge the Master Crystal with love and deep healing. When the Master Crystal is charged, go to your Reiki grid and use the Master crystal to draw the distant symbol overthe Reiki grid. As you charge your Reiki grid with your Master Crystal might say some affirmations like: "I charge this grid with light, to heal" or “I connect this Reiki grid with my highest Spiritual Guides to heal.” Or use your own positive affirmation. After the grid is charged, anyone whose name or picture that you place in the grid will continuously receive distant Reiki. You may also write your goals or other situations on a piece of paper and place that in the grid for Reiki blessings also. New stones and stones you used w ill need to be cleansed . Cleansing crystals removes
unwanted energy and restores them to their srcinal clarity. Cleansing should be done each time your crystals are used for healing. If you don’t, they may become less effective and might even pass on imbalances or energetic static. Sea Salt: Use dry sea salt in a small container and bury the crystal for 24 hours. Don’t
use salt water as this damages softer stones. Sun and Water: Hold the crystals under running water for a minute and then place in the
sun to dry. Again be careful with too much exposure to the sun, some stones will fade or even change colors from too much sun or heat.
Reiki Level III Day 4 - Master Practitioner - T he Reiki Prayer, Reiji-Ho
We now have our hand positions for treating self and others. We have our four symbols and we know how to draw each one. We’ve used those symbols for both hands on and distant treatments. We even know how to scan the Aura looking for areas that may need a little extra energy. We’ve practiced the mechanics of Reiki enough now, and we’ve become familiar with the “How to’s” So what’s next? Before we get into some of the advanced procedures, let’s take a little trip inside our minds to meet two very important assistants in everything we do, treating, teaching, even our daily living. Their names are Intuition and Visualization. Yes learning and teaching the hand positions are very important, they help us become familiar with the energy centers of the body. In the earlier stages of our development they help us target areas of discord and imbalance, to restore harmony. The symbols are much the same, there is no “magic power” in the symbols, but they do represent those abilities, the magic. They are tools we may use to plug into the Reiki. By learning to draw them, we imprint them into our minds; we make those tools our own. Now is when our trusted companions, Visualization and Intuition come to our aid. Intuition will guide our hands and our focus as well as our choice of tools, and we can visualize reaching into our tool bag and pulling out those connecting symbols for empowerment and harmony. We transcend time and space, and realize that a million miles is as close as a few inches. We have become one with Reiki, we are Reiki. To further empower ourselves, let’s take a brief look at some of the more “advanced” procedures. Many Masters and Practitioners begin each session with a meditation or prayer. The Reiki Prayer is called Reiji-Ho. It is often used as a pre-cursor to a healing session Reiji means "indication of the Reiki power" and Ho means "method" Reiji-Ho consists of three short rituals that are carried out before each treatment: a) Stand or sit in a comfortable position, close your eyes and fold your arms in front of your chest (like praying position) and ask the Reiki energy to flow through you freely. b) Ask (pray) for the well-being and healing of your client, in every aspect of their life. c) Bring you’re folded hands up to the third eye and ask Reiki to guide your hands to wherever they are needed. Try this a few times and see what results you get.
One of the treatments you may use quite often is the Tanden treatment called Tanden Chiryo. It’s used to power-up or recharge the Tanden with Ki. The Tanden is the seat or center of where your Ki is stored. Again we’re working with the lower Tanden located two to three fingers below your navel. This exercise will help us understand the purpose as well as how to actually recharge the Tanden. • Do all these steps slowly • Stand up with your feet shoulder width apart • Now take some slow “deep” breaths – slowly releasing all the Tension in your body. • Open your mouth slightly and rest the “tip” of your tongue as you inhale through your “nose” and as you exhale through your mouth place you tongue on the bottom of your mouth. Focus your intention on your lower abdomen, if you can, slightly bend your legs. With a little practice you’ll become aware of the tanden point two or three fingers below your navel with each “slow” breath Continue to Breath as above, once you do feel the point, then you have accessed the Tanden energy point of your body. To do Tanden Chiryo simply place one hand on your Tanden and the other hand on the back of the body behind the Tanden. Keep your hands in position until they lift off by themselves.
We breath. don’t always use ourishands for with treatment either is “heat” a technique to chest, heal with the Usui Sensei credited saying, that. ifKoki-ho one feels in your mouth or nose when you give Reiki, then you can give Reiki with your breath. To do this, breathe in though your nose then breathe out softly, onto the area where you want to give
Reiki to. This technique is useful especially when you want to give Reiki to where you cannot touch, as in a burned area of your client. Try it. Hold your breath for a second and draw (visualize, see it there) the “Power symbol” on the roof of your mouth with your tongue. Then exhale and breath the Power symbol onto the area of the body being treated, it helps to visualize the Power symbol entering the client's body as you breathe out. With Koki-ho you can also work on the physical body, aura or distant healing. Usui Sensei also said that one can also send Reiki with their eyes, using a method called Gyoshi-ho. Simply look at the area to be healed and feel that the area be cleansed and
healed. You should not try hard to focus or glare but just be in a relaxed state.
• Focus on the area of the body to be treated with your eyes for a few minutes. • Next allow your eyes to relax and de-focus, being gently aware of the body area. • Finally imagine Reiki flowing from your eyes onto the body area being treated. This can be a very nourishing experience for both the healer and the one receiving treatment. Practice these as often as you can. Practice seeing those symbols in your mind; visualize them entering the one being treated where your intuition guides you. Practice using your eyes and your breath to send Reiki’s healing energy. Tomorrow is exercise day, so continue to use the Gassho meditation both morning and evening. Try Reiji-Ho before you start the day tomorrow as well.
Reiki Level III Day 5 - Master Practitioner - Astral Jou rney on the Spirit Train
For today’s Exercise, let’s all board the Spirit Train and take a little trip from Self to Source a journey into higher awareness. Our mission is to find the source of that energy stream we call Reiki. We enter the train station called "What Was," and from the platform of “Self,” we will board the Spirit Express – This is a personal journey so each of us will have our own private rail car, which may be called Spirit Guide, Crystals, or Higher Self, - individual ways we each connect to Oneness; our cars are hooked to the engine of Intent. As we board our train visualize the master symbol - Dai Ko Myo - We find our car and begin to relax. We sit comfortably with our eyes closed, our feet crossed, and our hands in our laps, palms up. Begin to breathe slowly and deeply, with each breath visualize our Reiki symbols - the symbol of power; Cho Ku Rei - the symbol of harmony, Se He Ki, the symbol of distance, Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen. Our train now enters the tunnels of Chakra - 7 tunnels, our Reike symbols are lighting our path. First is the tunnel of basic self, the Root of our physical essence, we begin to understand who we are. Next is the Sacral tunnel known as the emotional tunnel. Our Spirit Express travels smoothly along on tracks of love, yet we must be ever vigilant, watching for the rocks of hate, which sometimes may fall across the tracks blocking are journey forward. We gain confidence as we enter the Solar Plexus tunnel. We find confidence in our intuition. In this tunnel we begin to feel the calming presence of higher self and spirit, yet
also an eagerness to move forward. We stand up and stretch, we feel as if we can touch the stars. Even before we enter the next tunnel, we can already feel the energy radiating from it, that soft glowing feeling of unconditional love. We’ve reached the Heart tunnel, the tunnel also known as the “core of our soul.” Still aglow with the energies of unconditional love, we now enter the tunnel of selfexpression, Tunnel called Throat. It is here that we are guided to express our selves honestly and with respect of self and others. Our journey continues and next we enter the tunnel of the Third Eye. We feel our inner sight gaining clarity, and we smile with that sense of “knowing.” The tunnel coming up next is the switching tunnel, the Crown where our physical self becomes aware of Higher Self and of Spirit. We enter this tunnel still in physical form; we exit into the Spiritual Plane. Our Spirit Express now chugs through the pass of higher consciousness, and crosses the valley of "What Is." Moving along, down the track of harmony, we climb the mountain of raised vibrations to reach the beginning of the rainbow bridge, the Bridge of "What Will Be" This beautiful bridge known as Antahkarana - a Sanskrit word meaning “that which acts or works between,” is unlike any bridge we have ever seen before. Threads of many colors spiral outward, reaching into every dimension, every universe, like a spider web connecting all to our destination, the home of “I Am” in the land of "All That Was, All That Is, and All That Will Be" Our Spirit Express pulls into the Station of Source and stops, so we get off. Looking around we can see the glow of Reiki as it reaches the threads of Rainbow Bridge and begins its outward journey. We are met by our guide who leads us along a path bordered by flowers and trees, some familiar and some unseen by human eye.
We see a building ahead, with walls a sparkling white like the purest of pearls, and domes of gemstones and silver and gold. Our guide explains that what we seek is not in the building but in the courtyard that surrounds it, and we walk on. As we near that courtyard, we see that it is surrounded by a wall, but there is no gate that closes, instead we see portals, many, many portals, some shaped as hearts, some as stars, all of sacred shapes and patterns. Our guide leads us into the courtyard and points to a well. We see light flowing from that well, a liquid light that moves like water. We feel the energy from that light and know that this is Reiki; this is the source we sought. The guide asks each of us to bathe in that light to heal all our imperfections. We are then told that Reiki is more than just a healing energy; it is the very essence of life itself. From this energy, all is created, Spirit, Soul, and Human, all life forms, all plants and all rocks. Our questions answered our journey complete. We head back to train station for our return trip home. But we take more back with us than we came with. We have seen the source, we have felt the energy in its purest form, we have become one with Reiki, we are it and it is us. With thoughts of what we have seen racing through our minds, we fall asleep for the ride home, and are awakened by the train’s whistle as we arrive back at our home station. We open our eyes, take a few deep breaths, smile and stand up. We are home now, feeling refreshed and energized Available on YouTube now “Reiki Journey”

Reiki Level III Master Practitioner Attunement
Level III Reiki Practitioner AttunementAttunements for Level III Reiki Practitioner are prepared and ready for you to receive. However, before receiving, please set your intention. To do so go to your quiet place, sit or stand in a comfortable position with your back straight, hold your hands in the Gassho (prayer) position. Call for your guides or angels if you want to. Now draw or visualize our master symbol, Reiki’s beating heart, Dai Ko Myo. See it dissolving, flowing into your Crown Chakra, continuing into and through each of the other Chakras. Follow that with Cho Ku Rei, our power symbol, then Sei Hei Ki, symbol of Harmony and our symbol of Distance, Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen, as they also turn into liquids and flow into Crown Chakra, downward through each of the others, balancing and activating as it passes through. With this visualization in mind, begin to take a few deep breaths to relax, and say in your mind or aloud or read it even: -- “I am ready to receive the Usui Reike Ryoho Master Practitioner Attunement prepared and sent to me by Roger Nobles” Once your intention is stated, the energy of initiation will flow to and within you, regardless of what activity you’re engaged in. So if you have other things you need to take care of, simply take a few deep breaths before standing. Drink some water as well then you can continue your daily activities. Congratulations, Wado and Namaste.
Mystic Reiki Circle Code of Ethical Conduct The Reike Principles
Just for today: I will let go of Anger. Just for today: I will let go of Worry. Just for today: I will give thanks for my many blessings. Just for today: I will do my work honestly. Just for today: I will be kind to my neighbor and every living thing The Essence of Reiki (1) Just for today - the importance of "today”, applicable for all five principles. How you live today determines whether or not you will complete the necessary learning. -Today- is a collection of moments. This teaches us to live fully each moment and this whole day.
Do your best today and let the universe take care of everything else. In the universal dimension there is no
distinction between self and others, only the existence of the same soul. "Be kind to others' is synonymous with "Be kind to yourself". Mystic Reiki Circle Code of Ethical Conduct

Mystic's Free Training for Usui Reiki Master Teacher Certification Guide
It also introduces the Reiju, the Japanese word meaning "to accept or to give energy." Reiju is believed to be Mikao Usui's srcinal attunement. Some follow with “Dry Bathing,” or Kenyoku, which isa form of brushing your Aura. This removes any negative energy, which may have been collected during normal daily activities. You should include Kenyoku before, after each attunement or treatment wash your hands, and ensure your breath is fresh.

When you feel ready to accept this Reiju attunement, rest your hands, palms up, on your thighs and say (aloud or in your mind) “As I begin my Reiki path, I accept Reiju which has been prepared by Mikao Usui Sensei, and channeled for me through Roger Nobles.” Continue to breathe deeply, feel the energy as it flows through your body refreshing empowering each cell, each organ. With this, you have completed Hatsu Rei Ho. If you stay focused, it should only take you about 7 minutes, so it can fit fairly easily into your morning.
=D Close your eyes Begin breathe in the Reiki energy through your nose As you exhale, visualize this energy flowing through your whole being; physical body, spiritual body, mental body and etheric body. Feel it flowing out around you in your chair. As you continue to breathe, feel it flowing into you room and your home, or wherever you are, filling it with Reiki energy.
Feel the energy grow stronger as it flows outside your home and into the neighborhood. See it filling the region in which you reside and then beyond into the country, then whole globe and finally out into the cosmos. Also, as the energy flows, see the flowers bloom, hear the birds sing, feel the kiss of a gentle breeze.
Level IV - Reiki Master/Teacher - Shihan - Day 1
This week is really going to be busy - We will all be giving and receiving attunements each day. I don’t like the term homework, but there will be a lot of support material given you that you will need to review daily, and a lot of practice, practice, practice. And to really make this stick, we’re reversing the order of things - First is a new symbol Raku, the finishing symbol, also known as the “Fire Serpent,” yet is drawn differently than the Tibetan Reiki Master symbol, Dumo, or Tibetan Fire Serpent it’s used most often for grounding the Receiver once an attunement to Reiki has been passed. It is drawn downwards from the head of the recipient to the ground, allowing the energy received during this process to remain inside theChakras. One of my favorite descriptions of the appearance and the purpose of Raku compares it to a lightning bolt from the sky, and represents life force energy or chi that runs down the spine, through our chakras. The Raku may also be used during healing sessions to ground the practitioner or the patient receiving a treatment. We aren’t certain wherewere the Raku came from,Some it’s not Kanji andbe isn’t one of the srcinal symbolofwhich taughtsymbol by Usui Sensei. think it may Tibetan, probably introduced by Reiki Master Iris Ishikuro (who was a student of Mrs. Takata) into her Reiki Practice, which she named Raku Kei Reiki.
Raku-Kei is an Ancient Tibetan Healing Art of Self-Mastery, much like Reiki itself. The symbol and practice was brought to the West by Arthur Robertson, who was a student of Ishikuro.
Tomorrow we will start practicing attunements with each other, beginning with Level I. Also the Gassho meditation will be very helpful for the rest of this program and then as you enter in to your own practice. I mentioned we are doing some things that may seem out of order or backwards - but I believe beginning with the attunement for this level will maximize your experience during the rest of the program. First is a mini attunement to Raku to make it yours, followed by the attunement as Usui Reiki Master Teacher. You might want to have some soft music playing in the background. Now find a comfortable and quiet place for the rest of this attunement. This will take about 30 minutes so you might want to sit down, back straight. Begin by looking at the Raku symbol; fix it into your mind. Take several deep breaths to relax and bring your hands to the Gassho or prayer position, first in front of your heart, close your eyes and bring your hands to your forehead. Now rest them on your thighs, palms upand cupped slightly. When you are ready, focus on the Raku symbol, feel its energy running through your body, from the top of your head, down the spine, into your legs and down to the ground. Now say in your mind or aloud, “I accept this Attunement as Reiki Master Teacher prepared and sent to me by Roger Nobles (substitute your name here.)” Continue to relax and allow the energies to flow into you and through you, enjoy it.
One way for giving the Level I Attunement –
Reiki Level 1, students receive four initiations, to three symbols: The power symbol
, Cho-Ku-Rei,
The mental/emotional symbol
, Sei-He-Ki
And the distant/absentee symbol
, Hon-Sha-Ze-Sho-Nen.
1st initiation - Energy raises the student’s vibrational level to increase healing capacity.
This Initiation opens the crown chakra to connect with and channel more universal energy light, plus initiates universal wisdom and purpose to flow. 2nd initiation - Energy operates through the student’s etheric body (spiritual double
located slightly above the physical body). Attunement opens cervical and spinal column to improve the functioning of entire nervous system, plus open throat chakra to enhance communication 3rd initiation - Balances the student’s right and left brain for clearer thinking and action 4th initiation – Will influence a student’s pineal and pituitary glands, which increase
higher consciousness and intuition. The pineal gland located at the 7th chakra (crown) increasesgland perception ofatlight, pluschakra connects student to also the universal source of energy. pituitary located the 6th (third eye) is influenced to balance the The endocrine system as well as the brain. The symbols are permanently sealed into the student’s hands and aura, before the energies between student and Master, are disconnected. This initiation completes the process allowing the energy channels to remain open. For ‘hands-on’ attunements:
Preparing Students for the Attunement Process: • • • • •
Play soft Reiki music Sit with feet flat on the floor or chair, place hands on laps. Close your eyes, take 3-deep breaths and relax Take a moment to scan yourself Starting at your feet and working upward toward your crown, release any
tenseness each“You muscle Sayand to relax students, are safe and secure at all times” Begin the guided Gassho meditation to relax them • •
First Initiation (Energy operates through student’s physical body to raise energy
vibrational level and to increase healing capacity. Attunement opens crown chakra to access and channel more universal energy light, plus initiate universal wisdom and purpose to flow) Position: Back of Student; Area – Shoulders and Crown Stand behind student and place yourright hand on student’s shoulder. Connect your energy to the universal energy source by raising your left arm with hand facing upward (to receive universal energy) and visualize or draw the Master Symbol Dai-Ko-Myo (pronounced Die-Coe-Me-Oh)
above the student’s crown.
With your left arm still raised, place your right hand on top of student’s crown and silently say a prayer or invocation. (e.g.), “I ask for universal blessings from spirit and the Reiki healing team to assist this student in becoming a compassionate, loving Reiki healer, filled with humility, to serve humanity for the highest good” Visualize white light entering your crown, going through your tongue, down the front of your body to the Root Chakra, then back up your spine to the center of your head (Fire Dragon energy) See “Fire Dragon” energy flowing into student’s crown Also visualize and silently say the name of each symbol 3x’s Cho-Ku-Rei (Choh-Koo-Ray)
Hon-Sha-Ze-Sho-Nen (Hon-Shaw-Zay-Show-Nen)
Sei-He-Ki (Say-Hay-Key) See the symbol penetrate into student’s heart, then along their arms to their hands; wait until you feel the process is completed before continuing – use your intuition. Second initiation - Energy operates through the student’s etheric body (the Aura or
human energy field that surrounds the physical body). Attunement opens cervical and spinal column to improve the functioning of entire nervous system, plus open throat chakra to enhance communication.
Position: Back of Student; Area – Both Shoulders Continue standing behind student and place one hand on each shoulder. Visualize and silently intone Cho-Ku-Rei (Choh-Koo-Ray) 3times, as you blow “Fire Dragon” energy into each shoulder. See the symbol move along student’s cervical and spinal column; wait until you feel the process is completed before continuing – use your intuition. Third Initiation (Balances the student’s right and left-brain for clearer thinking and
action) Position: Back of Student; Area – Occipital Ridge at Back of Head Continue standing behind student, place your thumbs on, and parallel to their occipital ridge (where the back of the head meets the neck. Visualize and silently intone Cho-Ku-Rei (Choh-Koo-Ray) 3times. See the symbol penetrate the back of the head; wait until you feel the process is completed before continuing – use your intuition Fourth Initiation influences student’s pineal and pituitary glands, increasing higher
consciousness and intuition. This initiation completes the process allowing the energy channels to remain open. Position: Right Side of Student; Area – Forehead and Back of Head Move to student’s right side and place your left hand on the lowest part of the back of their head as you place your right hand across their forehead. Visualize and silently Intone Cho-Ku-Rei (Choh-Koo-Ray) 3 times, while visualizing the “Fire Dragon” energy flowing into both areas (back of head and then forehead). See the symbol penetrate these areas; wait until you feel the process is completed before continuing – use your intuition. Final Step of 4th Initiation -Three major symbols are permanently sealed into student’s hands where the energy is accessed automatically from the student’s subconscious level. Position: Kneel in Front of Student; Area – Both Hands Palms Up Walk counter-clockwise to student’s front. Kneel in front of student and place both their hands in open hand position (palms openand facing upward) on their lap. Apply symbols to each hand separately. Starting with the left hand, cup your hands. Visualize the “Fire Dragon” energy flowing into the 1st hand.
Visualize
Then visualize Nen) 3 times. Lastly, visualize
and silently intone Cho-Ku-Rei (Choh-Koo-Ray) 3times.
and silently intone Hon-Sha-Ze-Sho-Nen (Hon-Shaw-Zay-Show-
and silently intone Sei-He-Ki (Say-Hay-Key) 3 times.
See the three symbols penetrate into the hand. Keep the left palm open and facing upward as you repeat the same procedure to the right hand. Once the procedure is completed on both hands, with the palms still open, simultaneously with both your hands, gently tap both palms 3-times to seal the symbols in. Criss-cross their hands across their heart and then criss-cross your hands over theirs. Hold this position until you feel that the initiation is completed -use your intuition. When finished, walk counter-clockwise to back of student, bow to Usui sensei and give a silent prayer of gratitude, (e.g.), “I give thanks of gratitude to the Reiki healing team for all assistance received during this attunement.)
While at into the back of the student, the Raku symbol to ground andfrom seal that the of the symbols the student’s aura, draw you may now disconnect your energy student. Let the student know the attunement is completed. Student bows first to Usui sensei, then to Reiki Master Teacher (to show respect), before leaving the room to return to their chair to continue meditating When all attunements are completed, change from your attunement garment, do your cleansing exercise (E.g. dry brush or shower method) and wash hands (for sanitary purposes, plus to cleanse external energies) You may use a guided meditation to bring students back to the present time or simple state your intent to do so. When your intention to receive the until attunement automatically begins. It if takes about 30 minutes. Once startedisit stated, continues the transfer is completed even you fall asleep, watch television, go for a walk.
For Distant Attunements: You may use a proxy, like a stuffed animal or doll, and follow the same procedure as the ‘Hands on’ or you may choose to do as I do and personify your lists on names for attunement, then visualize the same process as above. An even more simple way is to state your intent to send the attunement to the student or students by name and then allow the universe to continue with the attunement. There are many other methods as well, Intent is the key, so choose the method your feel most comfortable with or create your own. Congratulations, you have now completed level I of the Usui Reiki Ryoho program and are ready to practice. Please continue to practice all you have received with Level I for the remainder of this program and for as long as you practice Reiki
Level IV - Reiki Master Teacher - Shihan - Day 2
Some people believe training is the most important component in becoming a Reiki Practitioner. Others say attunements are the most important part. I believe they are equally important. Yes, one may receive attunements without formal training, and may even feel that flow of Reiki energy as it enters the Crown Chakra and races through the whole body. Yet without the training, without the “know how” to use it, how effective is all that awesome energy. On the other hand, what is knowledge without action? All the knowledge in the world is useless until it is put into motion, sort of like an unread book. This is where the Master Teacher comes into play; you have the honor of bringing synchronicity and harmony to the union of knowledge and attunements. We also have to acknowledge that attunements maybe be received without a Sensei as well by connecting directly to the source of Reiki as Usui Sensei did following his 21-day meditation on Mount Kurama.
Attunements are an energy exchange, from master and the universe to the student. Training is the activation switch that allows that energy to flow. When many hearisthe word worth? “exchange”, they think money. “How much is this going to cost me? What it really It is said that when Mikao Usui first experienced the healing energy of Reiki he offered it freely and without charge. However he soon found that many people, a priceless gift
without a price, was not only priceless but valueless as well. He began to feel and to teach that an exchange of energy for the healer’s time would increase the perception of value. He taught the exchange of energy does not have to be money; it can be anything expresses appreciation and an understanding of the value of Reiki, “love offerings.” The concept of charging a set price for healing or teaching is a western idea, promoted by Mrs. Hawayo Takata when she brought Reiki from Japan to Hawaii and the western world. I do agree with Usui Sensei about the importance of an energy exchange. Each practitioner and teacher should decide for themselves. My choice was to ask for what I consider very valuable; the commitment to use this energy for good, and maybe a smile. If you don’t want a fixed exchange, consider using a Reiki Basket for Love Offerings and Healing Requests. Following your attunement yesterday, your healing energy is probably flowing stronger and more intense. You may even feel more connected with yourself and the universe. Another valuable exchange is your feedback so please share what you felt during your Master Teacher attunement, also any experiences or thoughts while practicing the level I attunement as well. Now that you have experienced energy while receiving, as well as giving, an attunement, continue to practice today with the Level I attunement.
Reiki Level II Attunement:
Tonight, please practice giving the Reiki level II attunement - in some ways it’s faster and more simple than level I, although the text is rather long. Again I believe you will see the importance of visualization and working with your mind. There are many methods to give this attunement; here is one that I often use. The Reiki Level II attunement gives an even higher possible level of energy vibrations in the student, since Level II is where one also learns 3 Reiki symbols: The Power Symbol, The Mental Symbol and The Distance Symbol these can be used to help focus energy for specific purposes. I only use one initiation for Level II.
For Hands on Attunement:
Draw or visualize each of these Symbols, while repeating the name of each 3 times. 1 - The power symbol Cho-Ku-Rei, 2 - The master symbol Dai Ko Myo 3 - The mental/emotional symbol Sei-He-Ki 4 - The distant/absentee symbol Hon-Sha-Ze-Sho-Nen. 5 - The power symbol Cho-Ku-Rei, 6 - The Finishing Symbol Raku For distant attunements, also say in your mind or aloud: “I now wish to attune - “add the name of the person receiving the initiation” - to Usui Reiki Level II” Then visualize the student sitting in the chair and perform the attunement, as if they were there. You don’t need to know what the person looks like; just stating your intent and their name is all that is needed Part I
1. Place both hands on the top of the head. Close your eyes, meditating briefly, to gain energetic rapport with the student. 2. Draw the Usui Master Symbol over the head, while repeating the secret name of the Usui Master Symbol three times to yourself in mantra – like fashion. Picture the symbol, guiding it with your right hand, and moving it into the Crown Chakra through the head, and lodging in the base of the brain. 3. Touch the student’s left shoulder, signaling them to raise their prayer-clasped hands to the top of their head. 4. Draw the Power Symbol in the air over the hands. Picture the symbol moving into the hands, down into the Crown Chakra, through the head, and lodging in the base of the brain. Chant the secret name of the Symbol to yourself three times, as you place the symbol into the Hands and Brain. 5. Draw the Mental/Emotional Symbol over the head. Picture the symbol, guiding it your right hand, and moving it into the Crown Chakra through the head, and lodging in the base of the brain. Chant the secret name of the Symbol to yourself three times, as you place the symbol into the Hands and Brain. 6. Draw the Distant Symbol over the head. Picture the symbol, guiding it with your right hand, moving it into the Crown Chakra through the head, and lodging in the base of the brain. Chant the secret name of the symbol to yourself three times, as you place the symbol into the Hands and Brain. 7. Gently move the student’s hands from the top of their head, motioning them back down in front of the Heart. 8. Move to the front of the student.
Part II
1. Open the student’s hands flat, holding them in your left hand, or if you are left handed, hold them in your right. 2. Draw the Usui Master Symbol in front of the student’s Third Eye chanting the secret name of the Symbol, three times, as you visualize it moving into the head through, the Third Eye. 3. Draw the Power Symbol in front of the student’s Third Eye, chanting the secret name of the Symbol to yourself, three times, as you visualize it moving into the head through, the Third Eye. 3. Draw the Distant Symbol in front of the third Eye, chanting the Secret name of the symbol to yourself, three times, as you visualize it moving into the head, through the Third Eye. 4. Draw the Mental/Emotional Symbol in front of the Third Eye, chanting the secret name of the Symbol to yourself, three times, while visualizing it moving into the Head through the Third Eye. 5. With your right hand, draw the Power Symbol in the air above the hands. Picture the symbol moving into the hands as you chant the secret name to yourself three times. Slap the hands three times. 6. With your right hand, draw the Distant Symbol in the air above the hands. Picture the symbol moving into the hands as you chant the secret name to yourself three times. Slap the hands three times. 7. With your right hand, draw the Mental/Emotional Symbol in the air above the hands. Picture the symbol moving into the hands as you chant the secret name to yourself three times. Slap the hands three times. 8. Bring the student’s hands together and move them in front of the Heart. Blow over the hands, up to the Third Eye and Crown, and back over the hands to the Solar Plexus, and back to the hands. Return to back of your student. Part III
1. Place your hands on the student’s shoulders and look down through the Crown Chakra, imagining you can see into the Heart Chakra. Place a positive affirmation into the student’s Heart by repeating it to yourself three times, intending it to be accepted by the subconscious mind. 2. Bring your hands together, placing your thumbs at the base of the skull. Repeat this phrase; ‘’I now seal this process with Divine Love and Wisdom.’’ while picturing a door with theitPower on it being and locked. will, and feel the process sealedSymbol and complete, and closed the student is now Intend, connected directly to that the Reiki source.
3. Place your palms on the student’s shoulders and repeat the affirmation: ’’ We are both blessed by this process’’, or hold this feeling for several seconds. 4. Move to the front of the student. Ask the student to place their hands palms down on their thighs, breathe deeply and slowly, while opening their eyes. For Distant Attunements:
You may use a proxy, like a stuffed animal or doll, and follow the same procedure as the ‘Hands on’ or you may choose to do as I do and personify your lists on names for attunement, then visualize the same process as above. An even more simple way is to state your intent to send the attunement to the student or students by name and then allow the universe to continue with the attunement. There are many other methods as well, Intent is the key, so choose the method your feel most comfortable with or create your own.
Level IV - Reiki Master Teacher - Shihan - Day 3 Reiki Ethics for professionals and Level III Attunement
Ethics and proper conduct are important for all Reiki practitioners, and even more so for the Reiki Masters, both Practitioners and Teachers. Ethics should be common sense conduct, respect self, students, clients, and Reiki itself. However, this is not always the case. Most often, it isn't an intentional violation of courtesy or respect, nor are the accusations made with malice. However, intention and perception are not always the same. There are a few simple things we can do to prevent misperceptions; things like speak softly and smile a lot. This is just me, but I never actually touch a student nor one who is being treated, I work in the aura about 6 inches away from the body. Many countries require professionals to have insurance as well. That’s one major benefit of membership with a Reiki Association; Insurance is more affordable at a group rate. If you work from an office or in a clinic, posting a code of ethics in a location very visible to all who enter is both a positive statement of one’s professionalism and a deterrent to false accusations. Also, you can write and post your own ethics code without being a member of any association. Mystic Reiki Circle Code of Ethical Conduct
The purpose of our Code of Ethical Conduct is to incorporate the 5 Principles of Reiki into every aspect of our Practice with Gratitude and Respect. Just for today: I will let go of Anger. Just for today: I will let go of Worry. Just for today: I will give thanks for my many blessings. Just for today: I will do my work honestly. Just for today: I will be kind to my neighbor and every living thing As a Certified Usui Reiki Practitioner or Teacher, I agree to: 1. Practice with complete confidentiality and utmost discretion. All Information discussed between the practitioner and client will remain confidential. 2 Never reveal the name, address and any other personal details about any client or student, for whatever reason, to without specific permission by the client of student. 3. Provide a safe and comfortable area for client sessions. 4. Provide an empowering and supportive environment for clients. 5. Always treat every client or student with respect and honor. 6. Offer an oral or written description of what the client or student can expect to happen and experience during and after a Reike session or Attunement.
7. Be respectful of all other Reiki practitioner's training, opinions, views and paths. The choice to incorporate said ideas and views, or learn from them, remains the practitioners choice. 8. Educate clients on the value of Reiki and explain that sessions do not guarantee healing or complete recovery and urge students to do the same. .
9. Inform the client that Reiki is not a substitute for qualified medical or professional care but is instead a valuable part of a wholesome wellness program. 10. Ask if the client has seen or is seeing a medical professional for any condition. Suggest the client speak with their attending medical professional prior to any Reiki session. Reiki is a wonderful supplement to medical treatment but is not a substitute or replacement for medical treatment by a licensed medical professional. 11. Never diagnose or prescribe and NEVER suggest a client change prescribed treatment or interfere with treatment of a licensed health care provider. 12. I will maintain the highest standard of conduct at all times and remain aware of the client’s personal boundaries and be sensitive to the client’s possible perception of my actions. When giving hands- on treatment, I will not touch the genital area or breasts and will only practice hands-off techniques in these areas if treatment is needed.
Now we turn to a Traditional Third degree Attunement
A meditation, prayer, or simply a statement of intent may be done to help make a connection between the Master, the student, and the Reiki energy in preparing for the Attunement. When the Master feels the connection is made the attunement begins. The positioning is the same as with the other Reiki Attunements. For Hands On Attunement:
Step 1: Stand in front of the student; ask them to sit with hands on their thighs, palms up and eyes closed. Draw the power symbol, Cho-Ku-Rei, The mental/emotional symbol, Sei-He-Ki and the distant/absentee symbol, Hon-Sha-Ze-Sho-Nen followed by the Dai Ku Myo into initiate's hands. Step 2: Walk counter clockwise to back of Initiate. Take a deep breath and hold, while placing the tip of your tongue at the back of your upper front teeth. Raise your nondominant arm and hand with the palm open. With your Dominant hand, draw the Dai Ku Myo over the Crown Chakra. Reach forward over the shoulders with both hands and hold the student's hands while blowing into the Crown Chakra (At this point some will also againAlso do the complete attunements Levelshands; I and II. I don’tplace but it's up down to you. I don't actually touch the for student's I simply mycompletely hands, palms above their hands so the energy can flow from my palms into their palms.) Step 3: Ask the student to place their hands over the heart Chakra and step back and say to the initiate:" You can open your eyes whenever you are ready. This concludes the Master Practitioner Degree Attunement.” This same procedure may be used for remote attunements, simply use a proxy like a doll, a photo, a name on a piece of paper and visualize drawing the symbols and breathing the energy into the student’s Crown Chakra and flowing through the rest of the Chakras. Of course, there are more elaborate and lengthy attunement rituals, however I prefer to use the simpler ones.
Level IV - Reiki Master Teacher - Shihan - Day 4 Attunement for Reiki Master Teacher
This is my own method for the Reiki Master Teacher attunement. I find there is a greater difference between masters giving this attunement than with any other attunements. Some will say a prayer or simply state their intention. Then call upon Reiki to attune the student with Source. Others will go through an elaborate ritual beginning with attunements for Levels I, II, and III. Some simply repeat Level III. I use the same procedure for local or remote attunements. With remote, I just add more visualization. It may also be done with a proxy. Ask the students to sit, eyes closed and hands held together in the Gassho (praying) position about chest high. I usually stand in front of the students, although many will begin behind. For the Master Teacher attunement, I work directly with 3 Chakra points, with each sending the energy body. which I Beginwill with thethose Crown Chakrapure. for thought the relationship betweenthroughout Spirit and body, keep thoughts Then I and move to the Throat Chakra for communication with clarity, honesty, and respect, and finally the Heart Chakra, for dedication and unconditional love for self, those we service, and the Source who gives freely the Reiki energy.
First above the Crown Chakra, I draw or visualize the four symbols for Usui Reiki, beginning with the Master symbol, Dai Ko Myo, followed by the power symbol, ChoKu-Rei, next the mental/emotional symbol, Sei-He-Ki and the distant/absentee symbol, Hon-Sha-Ze-Sho-Nen. As I draw each symbol, I “see” it, as a beam of light, entering the Crown. I repeat this a second time for additional enhancement, since the Teacher is responsible for self and all those trained. I do the same thing with the Throat Chakra, and then the Heart Chakra. To close each attunement, I step back; hold my hands together, palms toward the student, fingers touching and ask the student to do the same. I visualize a beam of light flowing from my handstotofinish theirs.and In seal that the lightenergy I tracetransferred the four symbols again, followed by the Raku symbol, to the student. Then I bow toward the student and say Namaste. The transfer is now complete. Remember Raku is an optional symbol, so feel the energy, is it awake or asleep, then decide if you want to include it in your practice. Mahalo and Namaste
Level IV - Reiki Master Teacher - Shihan - Day 5 - How to Teach a Reiki Class
The information presented today is a brief introduction to subjects we will cover in more depth during the next two weeks. This Reiki Master Teacher class offers many of the basic tools you need to become a successful Reiki instructor, no one is completely ready to teach immediately after certification. A lot of practice and a lot of thought, inner guidance, and sometimes, even work on personal issues are needed before teaching a class. The old saying "when the student is ready, the teacher appears" also is true in reverse. When the teacher is ready, the students will appear. That spark may come when people begin to ask us to teach them, or our intuition may simply say, “The time is now, but you will know when the time is right, you will know when you’re ready. Waiting is not a time of sitting around twiddling our thumbs. We can practice with Reiki treatments, also recording our experiences in a journal. If we will write down questions that clients may ask, and comments that we have, while researching we can gain even more knowledge. When we do actually begin to teach a class, we will be able to do much more than just recite a few facts from a book, we can also share practical, hands-on experience. You will need to make many decisions before you stand in front of a group of student; material to be used, location - local or distant, class size, how often will classes be held and for how long, if local is the area large enough for the class, restroom facilities, business license, insurance, marketing cost, and price or energy exchange. Don’t feel that you have to follow a rigid time schedule. No two classes are the same, while a class outline is important, we must remain flexible for those unique experiences. Teaching Reiki is a very moving and very rewarding experience. Just knowing that what you’re teaching to your students will touch the lives of many others as well, improving health and human consciousness around the world.
Week 2 – Practical Experience Level IV - Reiki Master Teacher - Sh ihan - Don't Assume - Week 2 Day 1
Before teaching your first class, two parts of presentation are particularly important. Yes, of course content and accuracy are important, that’s what you want to present, but how? For us to write an effective outline or lesson plans – we need to know our audience; you might want to use intuition for part of this. Of course, this is easy when teaching friends or relatives, but that is an exception rather than reality. When teaching in-person, the majority of your students are people you won’t know, so know your target market, the demographics, age, education, and to a lesser degree, gender, ethnic backgrounds, religious influence. And of course, we can see the students, read their non-verbal feedback. However when teaching via the internet, students are much more diverse, different cultures, different languages, an even more varied religious beliefs, although Reiki is completely non-religious, we still need to be aware. Whether in person or over distance, there are some common ways not to just talk, but actually teach effectively. Personally, I like to begin with an introduction – first of myself, and then ask the students to say a little about themselves. This removes some barriers for effective communication. Always be conscious of your intent and the student’s perception. Also be flexible, you will encounter at least one student or client during your career, who sees thingsdifferently than you do. So use “in my opinion” and “the way I see it” often, and acknowledge that everyone is entitled to the own opinion. Be flexible with how you present your message. One of the most important things is to be yourself, honesty goes a long way to a better understanding, however the number one rule is never assume. I made this mistake recently when I changed my profile photo to the “I Practice Self Reiki Everyday” button. Self-Treatment is taught throughout the Practitioner program, Level I, II, and III. So I assumed that everyone who practiced Reiki must also practice Self-Treatment. Wrong, I assumed, don’t make the same mistake. Learn your audience and stay flexible, don’t assume.
So here is part of the conversation that prompted this post. Decide for yourself about how you will present self-treatment when you begin teaching. Again – this is your choice But Do Not Assume. Comments by a friend and fellow Reiki Practitioner (paraphrased): “I feel self-healing dilutes healing for others and breaks the universal code. In the 3rd world it worked fine but not since we left that time and space. As a Lightworker, and on a higher dimensional plane, I no longer practice self-treatment. Talk with your guides, angels, or other Lightworkers, see what they have to say.” You can see how my assumption created a rift, a bump in the road of effective communication. Or it could be, yet it can also be a wonderful opportunity to explore the different belief systems, without saying one way is right and the other wrong. This can emphasize that we each make our own choices about what is right for us, whether teacher, student, or practitioner. We really need to always consider how our message might be perceived by others, and plan our presentations accordingly with flexibility, so the content may be understood and accepted; so remember - "Do Not Assume."
Level IV – Reiki Master Teacher – Shihan – Week 2 Day 2– Chi Balls
Many people use the Chi ball method to send distant attunements or healing. This method is effective and similar to the way I do the distant imprints, once prepared it is for the student to accept when they want to. Really helps for distance work and different time zones. Using the Chi ball takes 3 simple steps – 1 Creating 2 - do the attunement, sending it to the Chi ball, and 3 add the person’s name the attunement is for and send it. A Chi ball is really just a ball of energy prepared by the teacher to send to another person. The Chi ball can be prepared at any time and the recipient can choose to receive it at any time – there is no time or distance limit.
Step 1 - Creating – How is a Chi ball made? Actually there and several ways to make a Chi ball, and eventually you will find your own way, as you become more confident with your own intuition. For now though here is a general method for forming these energy balls. First relax, smile, fill your mind with positive thoughts, we don’t want to create a ball with negative energy. Sit in a chair, back straight, yet comfortable, bring your hands together then slowly pull them apart. You might notice a slight tugging or a resistance between the palms. Your palms may be warm or cool, or you may not feel any temperatures at all. I do this several times, then rub my palms together to build a big ball of energy.
Now mold the energy into a round orb or ball. Take a couple of deep breaths, then gently blow into the energy ball, and while you focusing your attention on positive things and on harmony. If you work with guides, you might ask them to blend their energy with yours. Now you may add color(s) or even give it a sound, if you want to, if not that’s ok too. Next set your intentions on who it is to be sent to and the level the attunement is for. Now visualize the symbols flowing into the Chi ball. When you feel the ball has everything in it that you want to add, imagine the ball being closed (or sealed) I use the Raku symbol like a postage stamp, but do it your way. Now it’s time to take a deep breath and with your intention send to the person who will be receiving it. Finally show your gratitude by thanking the energy source and any guides or angels who worked with you.
Level IV – Reiki Master Teacher – Shihan – Week 2 Day 3 - Intuition and Intention
During the Practitioner part of our program, two words mentioned a lot but never fully explained; Intention and Intuition. Intent and intuition seem to go hand in hand. Intuition isn’t based on logical reasoning; actually, it’s a type of perception, a knowing that just is. On the other side, intention is connected with our actions. We choose to do something and we act based on that choice, our determination to do something, then doing it. We also studied, reviewed and practiced hand positions for both self and others. Practice leads to integration into being, the longer we practice we begin trusting self, more and more. Through self-trust, we build our intuition. When we practice, our self-trust becomes stronger and in turn so does our Intuition, that “just knowing.” Intuition is magical; it feels right when you begin to “feel” it. Allow Intuition to be our guide, “Intuitive Decisions lead to Positive Intentions.” Many say the quality and strength of our intention is the important thing with our Reiki practice is. However, as we become more experienced we learn that intuition and intention are hand in hand, complementing each other. If Intuition is that “just knowing feeling,” our “gut Instincts” what is Intention? Well Intentions are decision we make to manifest a specific positive outcome. Example: My intention is to finish writing this post. Other examples might be: “My intention is to have a happy and productive day” or maybe, “My intention is to write the story of my Dad, “The Last Country Bumpkin,” a ‘Wise Man Speaks Country’ For us in Reiki, “my intention is to send Attunement for Level __ to __Name___ located in __________. The same way with healing and other purposes, “My intention is to open a Reiki business of healing and teaching. When setting our intentions, we really need to be as specific and clear as possible. Sometimes this may be a little difficult, so here is an excise to help. Soon after we get out of bed and grab our first cup of coffee or tea, think about a target for our intention. In the beginning start with something small, and think about something you want, then say it clearly in a simple sentence starting with "I intend." Maybe like, “I intend to have a relaxing lunch with my friend, we will eat some delicious food and have an awesome conversation.”
Now release your intention to your higher self, the universe, God, angels, Source. “See” your intention grow wings and fly away. Practice this for several days, on small things at first, but each day begin to think about bigger and bigger things until you’re able to work on larger things.
Level IV – Reiki Master Teacher – Shihan– Week 2 Day 4 – Strengthening Intuition Some ways to strengthen our Intuition plus our confidence and trust
A formal definition 0f Intuition is the ability to understand something immediately,
without the need for conscious reasoning. Sounds simple right? Maybe even too simple? How many times do we find ourselves saying “I knew that, should have said it,” after the fact? Or maybe, “I was going to pick that answer, but I looked again and chose another.” Good old Second Guessing or better explained as not trusting our intuition. We need work on the trust and strengthen our Intuition.
Deep inside our brains, hidden among the wrinkles of knowledge and memories we find the home of our Intuition. Often pushed aside Intuition connects to each of our sensory organs, continuing though the gut and back up again to its home within the brain. We can see how intuition, or gut instinct, is the sum of all our senses. Our subconscious brain is working in the background, taking in glances, smells, visual cues and tone of voice, processing the data received. Intuition examines that data, analyzes it, and all of this in the background, and then makes a subconscious decision. That decision we feel as “Gut Instinct.” Intuition is not a bunch of hocus pocus and misdirection, it’s the real deal. We can recognize that inner voice, the voice of our gutter more clearly. We need to accept it and that comes through confirmation. We all probably need to flex that Intuition muscle and exercise. 1. Create white space -
We can't tap into our inner wisdom if our brain is cluttered with daily actions. If we are facing and important decision we might need to go for a walk, listen to music. Allow our thoughts to flow with images of fishing, boating, climbing a .mountain, something relaxing that still needs our attention. Now focus on that image and let it flow. 2. Ignore the facts -
This statement may sound a bit crazy. We’re not really ignoring the facts forever, just setting them aside for a short time, while we think of nothing or maybe some thoughts of butterflies and flowers, beautiful and happy thoughts. How does our body feel with these relaxing thoughts? It’s time to turn things around a bit, think of something upsetting, like at the last moment, our vacation is cancelled, or scary like a 3-way face off between the vampires, zombies, and werewolves. How does our body react to these negative thought, Do this for all emotions, and note if the body feels the same or different to each emotion. 3. Pay attention to our stomach -
We call it ‘Gut Instinct for a reason. We often feel things in our gut before we know it in our brain. So go through list of emotions again, however this time note our stomach muscles. Do they tighten? Do they relax?
We are breaking through the clutter to harness our inner wisdom. We are likely to discover that we already have most of the answers. One more exercise, to strengthen our Intuition, and help us trust it more. A trust, strong enough that we will fall backwards into the waiting arms of our gut instincts. 4. Build our confidence w ith positive affirmations -
Affirmations help us with mental focus. I like to do some deep breathing, great for relaxation. This combines effects of a relaxed body with a focused or centered mind. Affirmations tap into the power of our subconscious mind to help reach our conscious desires. Affirmations should be sentences said in a positive and concise way. We say what it is that we want, not what we don’t want. It is to always important to use the present tense with our affirmations. Here are a few examples of affirmations to increase our intuitive abilities. “I trust my intuition.” “My intuitive voice is consistently accurate.” “I access my intuition easily.”
Our ability and our trust of our intuition grow stronger and stronger with practice, so practice and practice every day. Soon you will "know" without even thinking about it.
Level IV – Reiki Master Teacher – Shihan – Week 2 Day 5 - Along the Reiki Road
This is a very special day; we have reached another milestone on our Reiki Journey we began with Reiki Level I, Shoden in Japanese, for those who wish to learn how to use Reiki Energy. It was here where we began to lay a foundation for our House of Reiki. We learned hand positions for self, for others, and for animals. We took the first steps in our journey of Reiki. We were connected with Reiki by an attunement. As we stepped of Okuden, II, we a few moreoftools to ourWith arsenal, Cho Kuonto Rei,the theroad symbol of powerLevel and Sei Heiadded Ki, the symbol harmony. these tools, a frame started to rise on the foundation we laid in Level I we started to build the frame for our house but we were still working pretty, our abilities were still limited to those we could touch. We needed to add cross pieces, braces to strengthen the frame, so
we added a third symbol, one that gave wings to our abilities, Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen, the tool that allows us to reach across time and space. Through repetition and practice, we began to assimilate the hand positions and the symbols, into our beings. Level III called Shinpiden in Japan is the Master Practitioner Level of Reiki. It is at this level we add the symbol of light and silence, Dai Ko Myo, the Symbol of the Usui Master. Dai Ko Myo translates as: “great shining light”, “great luminous shining”, “great enlightenment” and it represents the beating heart of Reiki. We use this symbol in initiations to attune practitioners with the energy of Reiki. We have transitioned from learning Reiki, to knowing Reiki, and now being one with Reiki. We’re ready to experience this healing energy in action. We have decided that we want to teach and share with others this blessing of Reiki. Our next step is upon the path of Shihan, the Master Teacher. Our first week was about attunements, still a week of theory and knowledge, we practice among ourselves. This second week, we began to interact with those learning the levels of practitioner. No longer practice; we actually attuned others to the energy that is Reiki. We gained practical experience as teachers. Next week our path takes a slight turn; it’s all about the business of Reiki. We look at some of the logistics of establishing a healing practice and of building a business as a teacher. We have the knowledge, we have some experience with teaching, at his point our focus is on the method of presentation. We view different requirements for a physical location or a virtual, distant online site. There are many things we need to consider before we hang out our shingle; business permits, laws and regulations about natural healing methods such as Reiki, equipment needed. Do we need insurance, do we join an association? We’ve traveled a long way on the Reiki Road and only a few more steps until we branch out on our own. We are confident that we have the tools needed; we add the roof to complete our house, we are ready and excited to begin this new adventure. Next week our focus will be on the business side of Reiki.
Week 3 – Reiki as a Business Level IV - Reiki Master Teacher - Sh ihan -Week 3 Day 1- Business Considerations
You have received your Reiki Master Teacher Certificate, so now what? Should I jump right in and set up my own Reiki business, or am I ready, really ready to start a business? Decisions, Decisions, Decisions. I think I’ll divide this into two parts with a common thread – Experience. I’ll share my personal experience with business, maybe you will what I did right and what I did wrong. I’m a pretty fair computer technician, and have a few years’ experience. I was introduced to the world of computers in 1964; after 24 years, I retired from the Air Force, so now what? I worked in several areas; cashier to TV. Then I started thinking, “Why not put all that computer experience to good use?” So I quit my job and began to repair computers, working from my home, built a few as well. I was making pretty good money $1,000 -$2,000 each week. I had no overhead so I could keep my prices low, the lowest in town. Then I got another idea, I’m doing goodnow, so bigger is better right? So I moved my computer from my home to a nice little store front, lined the shelves with computer software. Built counters along both sides of the, added some computers with internet at no charge for public use. Also added a coffee & tea bar – the Cyber Rock Internet Café. I set my prices at 8% above wholesale. Yes my little store became very popular. Brought in more than a million dollars each year for five years, however my monthly take home pay was $650, so millions came in but no profits. I didn’t consider rent, utilities, the free Internet café, or payroll, when setting my prices. I finally had to close, I failed. Do you see why? If you decide to open a Reiki business after setting your intention, make a checklist of things you need to consider in preparation to start. Here are a few pointers;
Start small. For a home-based business, it usually takes a few years to build your clientele. How do you prefer to work? Alone, with a partner, or in a Group How many days per week are you willing to commit to your business, how many hours per day. Some legal considerations
You may need a business license check your local tax officials first. If you decide to make house calls, you may need another license for that.
Check insurance requirements for your area also. Equipment (doesn’t really apply if you work with the internet)
Reiki or Massage table Freshly cleaned linens Blankets Pillows Tissues Maybe a swivel chair with rollers Possible a cooler for bottled water Although this isn’t a complete list by any means, it does provide a good framework some of the decisions you need to make before actually starting a business. We will continue tomorrow.
Level IV - Reiki Master Teacher - Shihan - Week 3 Day 2 –Volunteer for Experience
Yesterday I mentioned dividing the decision making process into two parts. We started our checklist of physical considerations before starting a business. Today’s topic addresses another part of preparation that is extremely important element that we must think about, ourselves. We have the Certificates to frame and hang on our wall. We have enthusiasm and a real love for Reiki. So what else do we need to be ready? Well maybe a little more experience will help us build self-confidence. We can volunteer and build not only confidence, but contacts as well and of course references. Check with your local hospital or clinic, maybe some nurses as well. First, ask if they know of Reiki. If they don’t, first tell them what Reike is and then explain a little about how Reiki works to bring our 4 bodies together, Physical and Mental, as well as Emotional and Spiritual bodies. Offer to give them a treatment, when you impress them, ask if you may volunteer your services maybe for 4 hours 1 day per week. Also, offer to teach the staff. Offer to work with any Rehabilitation program, physical therapy, or massage therapy. If you have a hospice or hospice service in your area, definitely contact them and volunteer your services for a day or so each week. If you have a gym around, often you will find martial art classes, yoga classes, palates, or some other exercise program. Volunteer your services there as well. If you want to teach, you might set up an area right there to train the staff. Don’t overlook animal shelters, veterinarians, even private pet owners, often a very good opportunity to gain experience and future clients. You might also offer private Reiki treatment sessions from your home. If you have the space you may want to work from your home when you do start your business. Just think about the contacts your establishing when you open your business. The references, and of course the experience you gain. And of course, while you’re gaining the experience and maybe a few future clients or students along the way – continue with
business planning, get your Tax ID and write that 5-year business plan. You may want to set up a business bank account also. Okay, now we have the education, the Certificates. You’ve made many contacts and references while gaining invaluable experience. You also have your business licenses, a solid business plan, and maybe even some equipment as well. So what is our next step?
Level IV - Reiki Master Teacher - Shihan – Week 3 Day 3 – Decisions
We have the training, we have the experience. The time we spent volunteering helped us create a network of other health providers, conventional and alternative. Are we ready now? Not yet, now we make some decisions: 1. Reiki therapy practice, teaching, or both: During our volunteering we did a little of both, maybe a little weighted in healing therapy. But we also offered training to professional members of health professionals and others. Did you feel drawn to either? 2. We also need to decide where we want to practice. a. Maybe work from home, startup costs will probably be less, but do we really have room, not only inside your hope, we must consider parking as well. We don’t want to annoy our neighbors. Another must do is check the zoning laws in your community to see if you can legally start a business in your home. b. Another possibility is to rent a place in your community relatively close to other health providers or sports facility. Start-up costs will be higher, operating expenses as well. However, the higher cost may be worthwhile with the added exposure and available parking can lead to more clients thus more return. c. One more choice – distance work through the Internet: Put your storefront there. Buy your own domain and build your website, or use one of the free hosting services, maybe a page or group on one of the social network sites. Internet business has the lowest start-up and operating expenses and offers a worldwide client base. 3. We’ve made our choices for type of service we will offer, and location. Now we can get our business license, buy some business cards and start promoting our business. Did we forget anything? How about a name, what will we call our business? The name should reflect not only your purpose but also your personality, simple but not boring, catchy but not too flashy. We’ve already checked the local laws and regulations, we have a name, we’ve decided what service we will offer, and a location. Now we are ready to begin. Now we can apply for any licenses or permits we need. We can also buy business cards, maybe even advertise as well. We’re ready to hang up our shingle and see our first client. Or are we?
Level IV - Reiki Master Teacher - Shihan – Week 3 Day 4 – Energy Exchange
This is not my favorite subject, yet really must be covered; after all it will be your decision to make. Whether teaching or giving treatments, you are offering others an extremely valuable gift. Even so, why charge people for treatments or teaching, isn't the energy of Reiki given freely? It seems that Reiki’s founder Mikao Usui thought the same thing. He first shared Reiki at no charge. But soon discovered that many did not value something they received for free. Yet his practice was often for those with very little, thus his concept of energy exchange, more of a barter system based on what one could afford to give. This has been re-stated as a fair exchange of energy, which allows Reiki to flow and benefit the client. Marketing psychology says that when people make an investment it something then it means more to them. Otherwise, they often feel obligated, which might induce Worry, which would violate one of the 5 principles that we teach - For Today, I Will Not Worry. Bottom line is that an Energy Exchange is not always a "bad thang." After Mrs. Hawayo Takata brought Reiki to the west she expanded on the concept of creating value through pricing - I believe she said something like a Reiki practitioner should never give treatments or training for free, but to maintain the value of Reiki one must charge a fee or get something in return. She set a standard charge of $10,000 for the Master program, which she completed in a single weekend. There are still some Reiki organizations that require those applying for membership to have paid $10,000 for training to be accepted. As the popularity of Reiki has grown, the energy exchange has moved closer to the concept of Usui Sensei, and now many Practitioners and Teachers work more with a sliding scale rather than fixed charges. Many other factors influence prices beyond the concept of value - the cost of rent, equipment, and supplies, printing of manuals and certificates, travel and lodging, telephone, and personal licensing fees included, advertising, costs of training, even the number of clientele have to be considered as well as the time spent by the Practitioner or Teacher. Here are some of the more common charges for Usui Reiki Sessions: Charges often vary from $40 to $100 for an hour to one and a half hour session. Typical half hour sessions are often $20 to $50. These prices will also vary by country and location. For Training, Attunement, and Certification in Traditional Usui Reiki: Reiki I - basic Reiki skills - from $75 to $350, with an average of about $125. Reiki II - advanced Reiki skills - from $125 to $450. The average is about $250. Reiki Master - personal mastery and teaching of Reiki - from $200 to $10,000, averaging about $500. Knowing your market will also influence your pricing structure and method of payment. Distance treatment sessions and teaching also have overhead costs, which really should be considered for pricing.
Many equate price with quality; if one pays more, then they receive more or better quality. However, this is not always true with Reiki sessions or training/attunements. Most Reiki practitioners deliver the same quality of Reiki regardless of the cost of the session. Masters who charge $10,000 may not give any better training or support that the Master who charges little of nothing. I prefer the love offering or donation basket to hard pricing, but sometimes that may need to be encouraged at a minimum amount as well. Just place the basket on a little table with a sign that says something like "if you need me to do distant Reike on you or a loved one please put their name on a piece of paper and place it in the healing basket." Your sign for donations might explain that donations can be in any form of energy exchange, Monetary, or crystals or nothing at all except a thank you, or like me, the commitment to help others and a smile. A virtual basket would work on your website as well. Your pricing is up to you, follow your conscience, just don’t sell yourself short either, always include your cost of doing business in your pricing structure.
Level IV - Reiki Master Teacher - Shihan – Week 3 Day 5 – Business Plan
I saved the worst for last – more paperwork, another delay before we can really call our business a business. The business plan is more than just a few pages of charts, graphs, and numbers. It’s really about your dreams, and what you’re doing to manifest them.
The heart of a business plan is what you want to build and why it’s worth building. The rest of the plan is about getting there. Although the plan can be simple and to the point is also needs to be detailed enough to help you get there. The business plan is a practical step forward so take the time to outline where you are now and where you want to be and exactly how you plan to get there. Structure of a Business Plan
Even Though most Reiki Practitioners or Teachers may not need to write an in-depth standard business plan, we still need to understand the different areas and their purpose. You also might find that you need to include some of these elements in your own business plan, regardless of how simple. Executive Summary: Summarize or highlight all the parts of your plan. Company Description: Describe what kind of practice or business you’re starting.
You can detail the legal structure of the company, for example, individual owner, partnership, or corporation, and how management will work.
Product/Service: In this section detail, what products or services your practice will offer. Target Market: Consider who your target market will be, who will buy your products
or services. Why would they buy your products and services? Competitive Analysis: Even though Reiki is not a competitive business, we still need to
know if anyone else is already offering your product or service. Know this will help determine your location or to maybe specialize in a particular area. Marketing and Sales Plan: Outline how you’ll attract potential clients, how you will get
them to buy your product or service. You might choose to market yourself through TV or print advertising via the media, maybe an open house and some specials, the practitioner might offer a free session, and the teacher might offer a reduced price or even Level I free. Always have those business cards ready to hand out. Operations Plan: This part addresses your location and equipment you might need. Management Team: The topics covered in this section are very much the same as listed
in the Company Description, but in more detail. Will be a sole proprietor, or with a partner. Do you plan on employees? With more than one person involved, this will also outline leadership roles. Who will be in charge, for example? Development Plan and Milestones: This where you will list your future plans, your
goals, and how you’ll get that. List what you hope to achieve within six monthsof opening your business, a year, two, three years from now. You may want to list some ideas of how you will get back on track if you take a detour along the path. Financials: Money might be the last thing youwant to talk or think about when you’re
excited about starting your business. However if you are looking for a small business loan or investors, this because a crucial part of your plan. You’ll need to know how much startup capital you have in the beginning, what your overhead will be, and an idea of what you expect to make and if you that will covering operating cost, well as a projection of your growth. So whether you write a simple plan or one of more detail, it’s still good to know, the areas of considering looked for in a business plan.
Level IV - Reiki Master Teacher Graduation Ceremony
The mission statement of Usui Reiki Ryoho is found in this interpretation of what is written on the memorial stone of Mikao Usui, founder of the Usui System of Natural Healing. “The Reiki method is not only for curing illness. Its true purpose is to correct the heartmind, keep the body fit, and lead a happy life using the spiritual capabilities human beings were endowed with since birth.”
As Graduates of our Usui Spiritual Healing Method and having received attunement as Reiki Ryoho Master Teachers, you are taking major leap forward in your personal growth. You may now teach Reiki to other people and attune them to this wonderful energy, enabling then to share the healing light of Reiki energy. Reiki’s light becomes even brighter as we make the precepts of Reiki a fundamental part of our daily lives. Those precepts are: For Today Only, I will let go of Anger For go worry For Toda Todayy Only, Only, II will will lbet e Humble For Today Only, I will be Honest in all I do. For Today Only, I will be kind to myself and to others
I believe this Initiation is a rite of passage, of passing the torch, the inner candle we call Reiki, as it was passed to me by my master as it was passed to him another master who received it through other masters, as it was srcinally received and passed by Mikao Usui The light from this inner candle challenges what is sometimes seen as the darkness of disease, depression, fears and phobias, and supports the heart’s vision and simplicity. Remember, Source is the Candle, Reiki is the wick, Attunement is the match, and You are the flame. Take your light into the world and allow it to brightly burn. It is my sincere wish that each and all of you will take time to honor your own hearts, minds, and bodies as you carry that Divine light forward. Find time to relax, to love, and to enjoy. Congratulations to you all - Mahalo and Namaste

Mystic Reiki Circle Code of Ethical Conduct The Reike Principles
Just for today: I will let go of Anger. Just for today: I will let go of Worry. Just for today: I will give thanks for my many blessings. Just for today: I will do my work honestly. Just for today: I will be kind to my neighbor and every living thing The Essence of Reiki
(1) Just for today - the importance of "today” is applicable for all five principles. How you live today determines whether or not you will complete the necessary learning. Today- is a collection of moments. This teaches us to live fully each moment and this whole day. 2) I will let go of anger - recover the balance of mind and emotion with Reiki. Live a quiet and peaceful life. Anger hurts others and yourself. (3) I will let go of worry - Reiki Mastership is the step for learning to trust completely the universe. Do not have any unnecessary worries and fear. Do your best today and let the universe take care of everything else. This is the key to being free from fear to believe in the universe and be with the universe. (4) Be thankful - you naturally become thankful if you receive the benefit of Reiki and familiarize yourself with Reiki every day.
Mystic Reiki Circle Code of Ethical Conduct

Ask if the client has seen or is seeing a medical professional for any condition and suggest the client speak with their attending medical professional prior to any Reiki session. Reiki is a wonderful supplement to medical treatment, but is not a substitute or replacement for medical treatment by a licensed medical professional.
