This method statement is purposed to establish and illustrate the construction method for both pipewors ;&torm and &ewerage> and manholes for &hatin to Central Lin ;Contract 71 : )in =eng &tation and %pproach &tructures> Project as specified in project specification. This method statement outlines the procedure for constructing drainage pipes to fulfill the oncoming needs of )in =eng &tation.
The proposed alignment and location of pipewors and manholes please refers to the enclosed drawings in %ppendi* %.

Construct the bedding for the pipe. 6or the bedding of storm water drains which is divided into Tpe % bedding and Tpe ? bedding. ;> 6or Tpe % bedding, plain concrete cradle will be constructed to support the pipes. ;Please refer to the section 8-8a> ;1> 6or Tpe ? bedding, the bottom of trenches will be filled with compacted filling materials. ;Please refer to the section 8-8b>.

Cut pipe into appropriate length for installation if reBuired.

&eal e*ternall and internall with cement mortar for the joint between the cut pipe and the pipe to which it is connected. %nd the cement mortar shall consist of cement and sand in the proportions 0 b mass.

Carr out air test or water test for the installed pipeline.

Clean the pipeline b pigging, high pressure water jetting or other method approved b the "ngineer.

Carr out st laer of bacfilling from the proposed formation level to 077mm above the top of the pipe with lightl compact b hand rammers or manuall operated power eBuipment. 6ill material within  st laer of bacfilling shall be compacted to at least 94D of the ma*imum dr densit and it shall be deposited in laers not e*ceeding 77mm. .

Carr out 1nd laer of bacfilling from 077mm above the top of the pipe to 477mm below the lowest laer of strut and wailing. 6ill material shall be compacted b vibrating roller to at least 4

Carr out 1nd laer of bacfilling can be carried out from 477mm below the lowest laer of strut

!emove all obstructions, debris and superfluous matter from the pipelines. 

&eal the end of all the pipelines and associated branches under test b e*panding drain plugs or inflatable canvas or rubber test bags.

iii>

Connect a A-tube manometer to the pipelines.

iv>

Pump air into the pipeline until a test pressure of slightl more than 77 mm of water is registered on an A-tube manometer connected to the pipeline. 4 minutes shall be allowed for stabiliFation of the air temperature and the air pressure shall then be adjusted to 77 mm of water.

v>

!ead the pressure from the A-tube at the end of a 4 minutes period without further pumping.

vi>

Measure the air pressure inside the pipelines upon test start.

vii>

Measure the loss of air pressure inside the pipelines.

1.0.1 &eBuence of water test

i>

!emove all obstructions, debris and superfluous matter from the pipelines.

ii>

&ecure all drain stoppers and# or bags in the end of the pipelines and all associated branches under test.

iii>

6ill water to the pipelines at least 1 hours before the test to allow for water absorption.

iv>

% test pressure of .1m head of water above the soffit of the pipe at the high end shall be applied at the standpipe and maintained for 07 minutesG the test pressure applied shall not e*ceed 5m head of water at the invert the low end of the pipe.

v>

The head of water at the standpipe shall be topped up at 4 minutes intervals during the test and shall be filled to the specified head at the end of the test period b adding measured Buantities of water to the standpipe.

vi>

The leaage of water from the pipeline shall be measured as the amount of water added to maintain the specified test pressure.

1.0.0 &eBuence of infiltration test

The procedure for the infiltration test shall be accordance with ?&9774 Part  Clause 0.5.
