Definition • Abadi- Sec.2(a)-area reserved-in village and non-urban area-time to time • Purpose-residence and other ancillary purpose • Includes ‘village site’& ‘gaonsthan’ • Land liable to pay land revenue unless exempted-

Rights in abadi • To hold house free of land revenue [Sec.245] -if occupied by – a kotwar – agricultural artisan or labourer • Person lawfully holds landbefore or after commencement of this actbhumiswami [Sec.246] Right of compensation if any
