It is recommended that you "Save As" the spreadsheet before starting a new character. This way, your blank copy will be kept intact and your new character will be separated from all others. Look for red corners in cells for specific instructions. They look like this: Just move your mouse over the cell with the red corner to view the note. If the notes are visible all the time, you will need to find the option to "Show All Comments", and turn it off to keep them from becoming annoying. Most general information is entered on the tab, "CharSht1-General & Skills". Use the "Skills Calculation" tab to calculate the skills for your PC and also to record advancement points in skills. Green Cells are highlighted to signify that it is ok to type in these cells. Skills that come in many variations are highlighted green so that you can customize skill names for your particular PC. When changing skill names, it is ok to drop the numbers that are included in the description. I only included these to identify them separately in lists, and because formulas sometimes dislike when multiple items in a list have the same name. It can cause formulas to pull the wrong data. Many cells work using Drop-down List boxes. I have tried to mark all these with a comment. (Red corner.) It is suggested that you use the drop-down arrow to choose what goes into the box, because data fills in on the sheet based on most of these. These items must be entered exactly as they appear on data lists, else the corresponding data will not fill-in, or will not fill-in accurately. Clearing Cells: Do not clear cells by entering a "Space". A "Space" is actually a character. Instead, move to the cell you want to clear and use the Delete key. Spaces in cells can cause formulas to be calculated improperly. It is ok to use the Delete key to clear a cell that uses a Drop-Down List. Data in lists can be changed or additions made. In most cases, insert rows between the blank cells in the list. This is especially easy on the "Data" tab and "Data-Spells" tab. The "Data-Weapons" tab requires all the corresponding data be entered. The "Skills Calculation" tab is slightly more complicated; you must be sure to make sure the formulas are copied or entered correctly. If a list to be changed is in alphabetical order, you probably want to try to keep it that way.
Magic Weapons, Magic Armour, Custom Spell? No problem! Insert a line into the appropriate data tab list for the item and input the stats for that item. Then, pick that item on the drop-down list box for weapons, armour, or whatever you added. Use the Legend Core Rulebook to follow the steps to create your character. While this spreadsheet could probably be automated with a lot more data from the book; it is intentionally omitted so that the book is absolutely necessary in order to be use the character spreadsheet. The most actual data from the RPG is probably in the "Data-Weapons" tab, since all the stats are entered to easily transfer to the character sheets. The other reason that this spreadsheet is not automated more, is so that players may enter customized data for their game. Locked Cells: The pages are locked to protect accidental formula changes. All can be easily unlocked; no passwords are needed. Custom Spell Names? Add them to the appropriate list on the "Data-Spells" tab.
