Chinese language has many dialects, but Mandarin Chinese (also called as Standard Chinese or Putonghua) is the official and the most widely spoken language of the People's Republic of China . ALL courses offered in this brochure are in Mandarin Chinese. Mandarin has a basic vocabulary and four separate pronunciation tones. Chinese writing is different from English and Russian alphabet, as Chinese characters sometimes use pictures or diagram to comprise a word, rather then using spelling of letters. But to simplify Chinese characters, a writing system called Pinyin was adopted in 1958. Pinyin uses English Alphabet to write sounds of Chinese words.

HSK is a Chinese language Proficiency test. HSK is necessary if student wants to study a Degree Course in a Chinese University. There are 4 parts of HSK which are subdivided into 11 separate levels:

HOW HO W DO I PA PAY Y FE FEES ES??

Registration fee 1000 RMB and 20 % of tuition fee should be on the bank account of Beijing Jiao Tong University before you come to China. Other fees, such as 80 % of tuition fee, accommodation fee, and insurance fee can be paid both by cash or transferred into bank account of BJTU after you come to China.

After letter with the student visa application form JW202 have been issued, 20% of the fee is non-refundable, except except in the case when a student is denied a visa by the Local Chinese Embassy or Consulate. In this case, applicants will be refunded their 20% of the tuition minus 1000 RMB for administrative charges. charges.

Chinese currency is called Renminbi or RMB for short. You can transfer US dollars, EURO, or other currency, but all fees must be converted in to RMB according to the Bank Exchange Rate of the transfer day. So please be sure to send the correct amount.

People sometimes think China is far away, but with Skype, MSN Messenger, Mobile Phones and IP Cards it is easy to keep in contact with family and friends.

High speed broadband internet access is available on BJTU campus and keeping in contact is easy.

7. Mobile Phones. It is cheap and easy to buy a Prepaid Mobile phone with SIM card and to get a Chinese mobile phone number. Sometimes a mobile phone hand set purchased in Russia or Europe or USA will not work in China unless it is unblocked, but mobile phone are very cheap to buy in China and Mobile phone network coverage is excellent. Another advantage of buying mobile phone in china is that it is programmed to send and receive SMS texts in Chinese Characters.

8. Livin ing g Co Costs China is rather cheap in comparison with Russia, Korea, Europe or USA. You will be nicely surprised of the taxi cost (with the starting rate only 10 RMB), subway ticket with 2 RMB and public bus for 1 RMB price. The food, fruits and drinks are also cheaper, just as like the clothes. But you should make your budget according to your own preferences , and decide between having inexpensive things and buying Luxury Brands. So you should allow extra budget for miscellaneous expenses, such as clothes, food, entertainment, transport.
